He travels through a magical forest to the village entrance but is stopped by a guardian, Ying Li. They flirt via fighting and fall in love. They end up having two kids, Shang-Chi & Xialing. In the present day, Shang-Chi works as a parking valet in the States with his best friend Katy. One day, they are attacked on a bus by men who steal a pendant that Li gave to Shang-Chi. We find out that the Ta Lo villagers rejected Wenwu so Li chose to leave with him. Wenwu abandoned his organization and locked away the ten rings. But clearly something's happened! Shang-Chi & Katy go to find Xialing, because they assume it was the Ten Rings that took his pendant and will go after the matching one Xialing has. They find Xialing at a secret fight club which she founded after escaping from Wenwu at 16. The Ten Rings attack the fight club and capture Shang-Chi, Katy, & Xialing. At the Ten Rings' compound, Wenwu uses the pendants to reveal a mystical map leading to Ta Lo. Wenwu explains that he has heard Li calling and believes she has been held captive in Ta Lo behind a sealed gate. He plans to destroy the village unless they release her. But that's not possible because she's dead. When Shang-Chi is seven years old, Li is murdered by Wenwu's enemies, the Iron Gang. Knowing his dad is crazy, they are like nah. We aren't helping you. They escape with the aid of disgraced actor Trevor Slattery and his mystical friend Morris, who guides them through the enchanted forest to Ta Lo. The group meets Li's sister Ying Nan who makes sure they are trained up. Wenwu and the Ten Rings arrive and attack. Wenwu overpowers Shang-Chi, and attacks the Gate he thinks his wife is being held behind. Turns out it's not his wife, it's the Dweller-in-Darkness. Wenwu saves Shang-Chi but is killed by the Dweller-in-Darkness. He gives the rings over to Shang-Chi before he dies. Shang-Chi and company are able to slay the Dweller-in-Darkness. Afterward, Shang-Chi and Katy return to San Francisco where no one believes their story. The sorcerer Wong shows up to get them. In a mid-credits scene, Wong introduces Shang-Chi and Katy to Bruce Banner and Carol Danvers and the group discusses the origins of the rings. The Meanies are absolute legends of Australian punk rock, and they are tearing through 2026 like a runaway train. Formed in Melbourne back in 1988, these sonic maniacs have spent nearly four decades delivering chaotic, high-energy pop-punk packed with hooks and bruises. Fronted by the indestructible Link Meanie, they are a band that leaves everything on the stage - literally - known for chaotic live sets that frequently end with broken gear or broken bones. After surviving decades of rock 'n' roll storms, they are still one of the most vital, loud, and uncompromising underground bands in the country.If you think these veteran punks are slowing down, you are dead wrong. The rest of 2026 is completely packed with heavy riffs, interstate chaos, and killer new wax. The band is currently crisscrossing the country on a huge national run. They are teaming up with their longtime brothers-in-arms, Spiderbait, acting as the main support on the massive Ivy & The Big Apples anniversary tour. This means they are bringing their blistering noise to huge venues like Adelaide's Hindley Street Music Hall on 25 July and Canberra's legendary venue The Baso on 30 July.Right after the arena-sized rock shows, The Meanies are jumping straight back into the sweaty club trenches. They have joined forces with Queensland punk unit Dad Fight for a brutal split 7-inch vinyl release featuring fresh tracks from both bands. Dubbed "the old bull and the young calf, together at last," they are launching the wax with a lethal East Coast tour. HEAVY caught up with Link Meanie to find out more, asking how the body is holding up these days."Oh, pretty shit," he laughed. "Yeah, I was just rueing selling the comfy chair that I had here, and now I'm just sitting on a drum stool. My back's fucking killing me! I've done so much damage over the years that I knew it would come back and bite me at some stage."We follow up by asking Link if he finds the need to do more stretches and warm-ups now before hitting the stage."The only time I was ever fit in my life was probably the turn of the millennium when I was doing Kung Fu, and I was actually quite fit then," he smiled. "God, I'm a couch potato now (laughs)."In the full interview, we chat more about life on the road and the perils of ageing. As a small child, Ike Eisenmann manifested his dream of being a Disney performer when he landed the lead in Escape To Witch Mountain and became the top child star of the ‘70s. But the joy and pride of appearing in Gunsmoke, Kung Fu, Mannix, Emergency, and Little House On The Prairie was shadowed by the abusively cruel insults hurled at him by his jealous and mentally ill actor father. Ike titled his new book after his father's mantra: “You'll Never Be A Star.”Ironically, Ike had no interest in being a star. He wanted to take part. And that he did, working with Eddie Albert, Bette Davis, George C. Scott, William Shatner, Roddy McDowall, Beau Bridges, Kim Richards and so many more gifted artists. Ike prided himself on being a one-take-wonder, often doing his own stunts, leaping through the sky, attached to wires, to snag a home run in Escape From Witch Mountain, sword fighting in The Bastard and horseback riding in Kit Carson And The Mountain Men. Ike's fantastic stories invite so many questions. Spider-Noir Editors – Jennifer Barbot, ACE; Tirsa Hackshaw, ACE; Eric Kissack, ACE and Geraud Brisson, ACE Although the editors of Spider-Noir may have all arrived at the series through different paths, they quickly found themselves working toward the same goal: shaping a superhero story that functions first and foremost as a noir detective tale. For Jennifer Barbot, Tirsa Hackshaw, Eric Kissack, and Geraud Brisson, that meant balancing 1930s atmosphere, modern pacing, dry comedy, stylized action, and the very particular energy of a Nicolas Cage performance. Created by Oren Uziel for MGM+ and Prime Video, Spider-Noir stars Nicolas Cage as Ben Reilly, a down-on-his-luck private investigator in 1930s New York who is pulled back into his former life as the city's only superhero, The Spider. The series also stars Lamorne Morris, Li Jun Li, Karen Rodriguez, Jack Huston and Brendan Gleeson, and is presented in both "Authentic Black and White" and "True-Hue Full Color" versions. For the editors, that dual-format release created one of the show's most interesting creative and technical challenges. The editors primarily cut in black and white, leaning into the shadows, contrast and classic noir language of the series, while visual effects reviews often revealed the same scenes in color. The result was a show that could feel emotionally different depending on which version was being watched, even when the underlying performance, rhythm and story remained the same. JENNIFER BARBOT, ACE Jennifer Barbot is an editor whose credits include Your Honor, Raised by Wolves, The Man in the High Castle, Jessica Jones and Dope Thief. On Spider-Noir, Jennifer was drawn to the show's mix of noir style, superhero mythology and emotional character work, as well as the opportunity to help establish the tone of a world that had to feel both period-inspired and contemporary. TIRSA HACKSHAW, ACE Tirsa Hackshaw, ACE has worked across a wide range of television and film projects, including One Piece, Kung Fu, Jupiter's Legacy, Luke Cage, Jessica Jones and The Punisher. Having previously worked with Steve Lightfoot on Marvel's The Punisher, Tirsa came to Spider-Noir with both a love of the noir genre and a deep appreciation for the Spider-Verse, making the show a natural fit for her interests as an editor. ERIC KISSACK, ACE Eric Kissack, ACE is an editor and director whose work includes The Good Place, Veep, Black Monday, Rutherford Falls, Pam & Tommy and The Studio.
