Camille is joined on this episode by special guest co-host Tayler Zavitz for a frank discussion of government and industry efforts to target and stifle animal rights advocates in Canada. A long-time activist herself, and now a doctoral candidate at the University of Victoria, Tayler's PhD research focuses on exposing and analyzing bogus criminal charges filed against animal advocates, failure to prosecute illegal conduct by animal-use industries, lawsuits by animal-use industries designed to repress free speech, and state surveillance of peaceful citizens.

This is the audio version of the talk: Vegan Rights in the UK: Using Vegan Rights to Promote the Rights of Non-Human Animals, given in Dundee, Scotland, December 2017 Are you struggling to obtain food suitable for vegans in hospital, in school, at work events? Is your employer refusing to consider providing you with a non-animal alternative to work clothing? Are you required to purchase cow's milk as part of a milk run at work? We have the right to live in recognition of the rights of other animals. We have the right to live vegan. It's not an absolute right, but it applies to many situations. Get to know your rights so that you can educate, inform and encourage change. This talk summarises our rights and gives some examples. It is also available in video format on our YouTube channel: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RBYa5wm5_ns I recently self-published a book on this subject along with Jeanette Rowley, which includes sample letters people can use to write to schools, hospitals, employers etc referring to the specific rights that apply in those situations. We're trying to recover our print costs and get in some money to develop the book (we are not taking any money ourselves), so have asked for £10 for the hard copy, £5 for the ebook, but if anyone can't afford this we can send the e-book for free, just email us at goveganscotland@gmail.com: https://www.goveganscotland.com/product-page/paperback-vegan-rights-in-the-uk-promoting-animal-liberation-using-vegan-rights https://www.goveganscotland.com/product-page/ebook-vegan-rights-in-the-uk-promoting-animal-liberation-using-vegan-rights More detail is set out in the book. Thanks for listening and for your support. If you're not yet vegan please go vegan. It's a matter of justice. www.goveganscotland.com

Bee Venom Therapy...The Impossible Burger...Pre-maturely born babies...what do all of these have in common? All of them are surrounded by controversy for various reasons in the animal or human rights industries, and all of them are discussed in this episode. Sometimes even people of the 'same group' have differing opinions, and we're here to explore that with these topics. At the end you decide...where do you stand? **Warning- this episode does contain explicit talk regarding pre-maturely born babies completing their growth cycle outside of the womb.

This week we chat with the International Vegan Rights Alliance, it's founder Jeanette Rowley, and Australian representative Greg McFarlane. We discuss the paper Jeannette will be presenting at the current "ANIMAL PUBLICS: Emotions, Empathy, Activism" conference at The University of Melbourne. Her paper "Toward a vegan jurisprudence of human rights" provides much to discuss for vegan activists, and we hear from Greg McFarlane on the situation for vegans in Australian prisons. For more information:http://www.theivra.com/
