One of the most consistently requested guest since the beginning of HardLore: THOMAS PEARSON, vocalist of Atlanta's FOUNDATION finally joins us for an epic 3-hour episode documenting Foundation's beginning, ending, and everything in between. Since their breakup in 2016, Atlanta's FOUNDATION has become a mythical band to new fans of hardcore music, a band who's message carried as much meaning and weight as their now-iconic metallic twist on straight edge hardcore. We discuss Thomas' beginnings as a hardcore kid inspired by frontmen who went above and beyond to use their time on stage as a platform to do good, his bands before Foundation, how writing evolved when Hank joined the band, putting everything they had (at the time) into their one and only LP, and finally going out on their shield with their best record. This was one of our favorite conversations in the history of the show, enjoy. HardLore is now on Patreon! In this Session I talk to Mortimer and Kumar Fyah, two amazing solo artists on the Gratitude Riddim. Check out these artists' stories while listening to some of my favorite tracks from them. Mortimer, talks about growing up in a home that did not support his passion of "non-secular" music and had to fight extremely hard to get to where he is now; His working relationship with Producer, Winta James and how family life motivates his writing. Kumar Fyah, came up in the scene with Raging Fyah and we talk about how that came about and what inspired the break-up; His Journey of becoming a successful Solo Artist and how a personal tragedy inspired his latest works on the Gratitude Riddim, "When The Smoke Clears".
.When The Smoke Clears do you want that person to be your Allie or Enemy? Many of people burn bridges by not saying what they really want. Whether it be not wanting ending a marriage, or friendship that doesn't work for them. The truth is lying makes it worse. People are conscious on what they do. When you set the record straight you give the options and choices. You are not stealing time from them by being manipulative or betraying their trust. --- This episode is sponsored by · Anchor: The easiest way to make a podcast. https://anchor.fm/app
I'm back after a traumatic week that made me miss an episode (I go into that). This episode I welcome back the return of HPG alum and friend of the show, Marcus "Showinmadlov" Robinson, as we got together to review another Three 6 Mafia...related album/mixtape. In 2013, DJ Paul got together the rest of Three 6 Mafia (with the exception of Juicy J) to form Da Mafia 6ix and release the project "6ix Commandments". It would be the first and sadly last time all 6 legendary members would be on the same album together since their classic 2000 album, When The Smoke Clears (which me & Marcus already reviewed together). Hear me and Marcus' talk about the project along with other tales (such as how I chickened out on a show I still regret) and more. Apologies for the poor audio quality on my end during our conversation. Didn't realize the issue until during the editing process. Qualé (aka Seb Vanderbeken) is one of Melbourne's most experienced DJ's. With 29 years of DJ wisdom under his belt, you can rest assure that his Bomphcast meets our main criteria: quality. Seb has played alongside a plethora of techno royalty, including Marcel Dettmann, Ben Klock, Truncate/Audio Injection, Perc, Tommy Four Seven and Etapp Kyle to name just a few. He is also a founding member of local events crew When The Smoke Clears. Qualé's mix is a testament to his years of experience behind the decks as the music ebbs and flows, taking the listener on a sonic journey of highs and lows. His track selection gives the mix a unique sonic identity. For you to get to know Qualé a little more intimately, we shot over a a few questions.
