Means&3rd aka Ben Marsden joins us for episode 469 with an extensive session covering over 2 hours worth of techno territory. The Manchester based artist can be found behind the counter at the legendary Eastern Bloc Records where he fronts the house and techno curation for the shop. He has leveraged his exposure to the latest sounds there to promote his own Unveiled Nuance events and label as well as securing performances at events throughout the country. Some words from Ben - "I aimed to create something that reflects where I am sonically right now. The aesthetic of the deeper sound has expanded so much lately, touching on all sorts of BPM's and vibes, and I've really been loving every bit of it. This music requires some patience and a commitment to fully appreciate it, which is one of the reasons it continues to captivate me so much. I also wanted to give a huge shout-out to all the incredible artists featured in this mix; there's so much amazing music out there right now., and a massive thank you to the Monument team as well—I'm genuinely grateful for this opportunity " Follow : Soundcloud - https://soundcloud.com/means3rd Instagram - https://www.instagram.com/means_3rd/ Labels Bandcamp - https://means3rd.bandcamp.com/ Monument x Carbon Carbon is a new music platform designed by and for fans of electronic music. "We're connected with the beginnings." The Berghain residents talk about underground values, leaving behind expectations and their debut collaborative album. In recent years, techno seems to have divided itself into two camps: those in favor of new sounds, including the hard, the fast and the maximal, and those who've reacted by taking the sound back to its original, no-frills roots. In the latter camp are Berghain residents Ben Klock and Fadi Mohem, two German artists who have become figureheads for a classic, stripped-back style. Though they're a generation apart, they've firmly aligned themselves with the faction trying to keep techno underground and understated. In this Exchange, Klock and Mohem speak about why old-school values and sensibilities remain so important to their work. And what specifically has captured Mohem—and his younger cohorts—who were born after the first iteration of this sound took shape? The duo have been DJing and making music together with increasing frequency over the last few years, celebrating and expanding upon the seeds of this style together. Mohem and Klock also discuss LAYER ONE, their beautiful album from 2024 that combines techno with IDM, ambient and experimental, featuring vocal appearances by UK artists Coby Sey and Flowdan. They talk about this departure from their typical style, which imagines a post-human world where AI reigns supreme. Klock also reflects on his connection to Berghain, his unexpected career as a DJ and the key to long-lasting relevance in a scene that never slows down. Listen to the episode in full. -Chloe Lula

TECH CLUBBERS PODCAST W/ GANNEIN Gannein: Berlin via Paris, delivering raw, uncompromised techno. Gannein's tracks are making impact. Ben Klock, Ben Sims, Luke Slater, Speedy J, Kaiser, Rene Wise, Polygonia, Dave Clarke, Nastia, Chlaer, Yanamaste, Alarico, Mareena, Claudio PRC, and Vincent Neumann: his records are in their crates. Self-taught, his sound is direct: visceral, driven, and built for the floor. His digital DJing is where that vision fully materializes. Precision and fluidity are key. Tresor, Renate, Razzmatazz, About Blank, Glazart, and Laut have felt his presence: sets built with relentless drive, weaving intricate layers through carefully selected tracks and real-time manipulation. He maximizes the digital format, blending and layering with surgical accuracy, creating dynamic shifts and sustained intensity. He reads the room, responds, and builds a narrative through digital craft. Repeat bookings confirm: Gannein commands the dancefloor. Discography still building, but the trajectory is clear. Expect more releases and performances in 2025. Gannein: focused, and moving forward. TECH CLUBBERS PODCAST W/ DAHRAXT DAHRAXT is the techno project of the electronic music artist Alessandro Mannella ( formerly known as Mannella ). Italian-born and Berlin-adopted, he expresses his multi-faceted talent producing music, DJing and performing live. Apart from being heavily influenced by the UK techno sound, DAHRAXT's musical narratives oscillate between industrial techno and distorted electro soundscapes, all the way to the more mental techno textures. Moving at a young age to Ibiza, he crafted his DJ mixing skills performing regularly at important venues like Space and throwing illegal parties around the island. Not long after, he moved to Berlin and immediately caught the attention of many, playing at the iconic Tresor basement and shaking the dancefloors of other major clubs such as About Blank, Arena and Suicide Circus, as well as hosting events at the former Griessmühle. Eventually, as one of the founders of the multidisciplinary event project ENIGMA, he brought a brand-new event concept at Tresor Club. Besides Germany, DAHRAXT has made appearances at other influential venues across Europe such as Gare (Porto) and FOLD (London) among others. Touring overseas and taking part in the underground festival circuit, DAHRAXT has performed with the likes of Ancient Methods, Ben Klock, Detroit Techno Militia, Nene H, New Frames, Tommy Four Seven, Scan7, Sunil Sharpe and many more. His unmatched dexterity in bringing the crowd into his own visionary trip and the intensity of his DJ sets allowed him to also gain a residency at the techno party Vocoder in Mexico City (2018) and most recently at ARIA, London. As a long-time vinyl collector and supporter, in 2015 DAHRAXT founded two record labels: “Jtseries”, (a techno dancefloor-oriented imprint) and “PicNic34” (having a more experimental direction). On those, he has collaborated with Blawan, Cristian Vogel, Charlton, Kucera, Santiago Salazar, Tobias, Vladislav Delay and VSK to name a few. With an arsenal of music ready to hit some of the most important music platforms out there, DAHRAXT's ever mind-expanding DJ and studio experiments are bound to be experienced by many. *The Mix was live recorded at Tresor Berlin* Follow DAHRAXT here: Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/mannella.dahraxt Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/dahraxt/ Soundcloud: https://soundcloud.com/dahraxt
Nuno Costa began his ventures into electronic music in 2008 with his Sinner moniker, and with it he created Warface, a local crew and promoter focused on dubstep, drum 'n' bass, and UK garage. In 2013 he kickstarted his new project, VIL, focusing mainly on techno. His debut EP came in early 2015, when Portuguese label Extended Records picked him up for a release. Soon after, he released on Lewis Fautzi's “Faut Section” imprint, on the legendary Synewave New York, run by Damon Wild and Be as One records from Shlomi Aber. VIL's refined taste and set building ability has already earned him a place at some of the best clubs in the country, of which Lux Frágil and Gare are included, and is a regular presence at many of the country's festivals as well. Fast forward to 2018, where alongside Portuguese artists Temudo and Menosdois, he creates Hayes, a collective focused on showcasing the distinct output of its artists through vinyl and digital releases. Already counting with several vinyl releases since its inception and garnering support by some of the biggest name in the scene, Hayes turns out to be one the most promising labels to rise during the pandemic. Furthermore VIL used the extended time in the studio between 2020 and 2021 to place his output on renowned labels outside of his own realm. Landing highly anticipated EPs both on Ben Klock's seminal label Klockworks and Stranger's Self Reflektion to name a few. In November 2024 he released his debut album on Steffi's Dolly label. The 251st Local Selection Mix comes from the rising duo and party collective, Nocturnal Animals, who deliver a powerful entry to the series. Their mix expertly weaves together a range of influences, from dark and dubby cuts to arpeggio-laced grooves and hard-hitting EBM weapons, creating a tunnelling journey through their expansive libraries. In just a short period, Nocturnal Animals have firmly established themselves as a rising force in Dublin's highly competitive club scene. Since their debut in 2022, the dynamic duo of Deni_sova and SEBORO have made a strong impact with their multi-genre DJ sets, consistently selling out shows at various venues across the Irish capital. Their rapid ascent has also earned them spots alongside some of the world's most renowned techno artists, including Marcel Dettmann, Charlotte de Witte, Len Faki, Ben Klock, and Maceo Plex. Drawing inspiration from Berlin's revered dancefloors, their sound seamlessly blends a wide spectrum of techno—from hard-hitting industrial rhythms to deep and dusty grooves. What sets them apart is their distinctive audio-visual production style, which has become a signature element of their shows, creating an immersive, almost all-encompassing experience for their audience. Dark, sexy, and unapologetically intense, Nocturnal Animals capture the evolving energy of a city increasingly hungry for underground sounds. The mix immediately pulls you in with its dark, murky selection, establishing a soundscape that balances both atmosphere and intensity. As it unfolds, Nocturnal Animals expertly blends a range of nuances, transitioning seamlessly into hypnotic, screwface-inducing warpers, while also incorporating melody-driven big-room anthems. What sets this mix apart is the duo's precise attention to detail. Each section feels meticulously crafted, with tracks flowing together to form a story-driven narrative. Every transition builds tension, sustains momentum, and contributes to an overarching journey. While many DJ sets focus on one big drop after another, often chasing the next banger, Nocturnal Animals takes a more thoughtful, long-form approach to mixing. They create a chronicle of past dancefloor experiences, using tension and release to evoke a deeper connection. This mix isn't just a series of high-energy moments—it's a carefully constructed journey that mirrors the ebb and flow of a night on the dancefloor. A scientist by day and a DJ by night, the Edinburgh-based artist is an integral figure in her locale, both as a standalone name and through event curation. Having built an extensive track collection for several years, ona:v debuted on Edinburgh's club circuit in 2019, with bookings across the UK making up her diary since. On home turf, ona:v plays regular gigs in Scotland's biggest venues, having supported Ben Klock, Isabel Soto, Clouds, Paige, EKATA and many others. Outside of Scotland, she closed for Clouds and Randomer at The Cause, played at London's Risen Festival and in Berlin's Mensch-Meier and About Blank. 2022 saw her Polish debut, and in 2021/22 she streamed from Berlin's HÖR Radio. In 2020, ona:v founded EPiKA, and started promoting EPiKA's bi-monthly party called CiRCLE in Edinburgh. Here, she creates a nurturing environment for beginner female and non-binary DJs playing more underground flavours of electronics, with focus on techno. She also garners a radio residency on London's Threads Radio and is an internal member and a resident DJ with the Sisu crew. Production-wise, she has released tracks on multiple UK compilations and released her debut EP, Response to the Techno Crisis, on Diffuse Reality in 2022. Since emerging (to most the world) on Ben Klock's Klockworks label, Ukrainian producer Etapp Kyle immediately caught attention of Berlin's techno cognoscenti, with a sound that seemed perfectly fit for the Berghain school: taut, slyly melodic and just the right amount of funky. Over the past ten years, he's refined his sound to a science, but also opened it up: his records on Ostgut Ton, particularly 2020's Nolove EP, showcase a mastery of sound and space. This is techno you can sit in, and let it wash over you. As a DJ, Kyle is generally associated with a functional, if atmospheric style of techno (and, more recently, electro), but on his RA Podcast he invites us into something of a different space. In a way, this mix represents the spirits of his productions, with a wide-open soundscape touching on everything from '90s techno and trance, including some goodies from Canada and Denmark, along with core electronic acts like Future Sound Of London, Autechre and today's modern electronica poster-boy, Skee Mask—BPMs and genres be damned. It's a mix that veers from melancholy to emotive to ecstatic, sometimes even silly, and it's a real pleasure, capturing one of techno's more creative and restless voices. @etappkyle Read more at https://ra.co/podcast/884

Before @igor_glushko became a prominent DJ in the local scene, he spent considerable time contributing to the Ukrainian capital's club life in other ways. Whether acting as assistant editor of the country's only electronic music magazine at the time or promoting and organizing his own events, Igor has been at the forefront of what has become one of the brightest and most prolific scenes in Eastern Europe. As a promoter and event organizer, Glushko has brought in such prominent names as Marcel Dettmann, Ben Klock, Mathew Jonson, Convextion, Peter Van Hoesen, Levon Vincent, Move D, Prosumer, and of course many more, who came to Ukraine for the first time only thanks to Glushko and his team. But it wasn't until 2010 that Igor became an important player behind the decks himself. DJing aside, Igor is also known nowadays as being co-founder of @rhythm-buro, the essential techno initiative in Kyiv that brings the genre's most forward thinking minds to various original locations across the city. Glushko is also credited as being head honcho of the recently established record label of the same name. Every few months Rhythm Büro attracts hundreds and thousands of visitors to their events that combine huge line-ups (featuring artists as diverse as Actress, @donato-dozzy, Ulwhednar, and @artefakt-official), original settings that range from film studios to forest locations, and visual arts. As an honored resident of Closer in Kyiv, Igor is one of a dozen local DJs who continue to shape, define and build Kyiv's electronic music landscape ‘one step at a time. Stay Rave with #R13!

Hailing from Waterford, Cailín is known for her dedication to the art of djing and vinyl only style. A name applauded in Berlin and recognised as far as the Americas, the 2x Boiler Room selector has rightfully become one of Ireland most respected DJs. A long-time resident at District 8 and Subject, Cailín regularly appears alongside huge names such as Jeff Mills, Dave Clarke, Ben Sims, Ben Klock, Paula Temple, Dax J and I Hate Models, to name just a few. Earning sets at Tresor, Machine Parties stage at Dockyard Festival at ADE and Bossa Nova Civic Club NYC, as well as being a regular at Life Festival, Boxed Off, Circles and Electric Picnic, reflects Cailín's pure ability to work the turntables and act as an ode to what is to come. As a producer, Cailín's discography is steadily growing. Her debut 12", 'Phantom Love Affair', 4 tracks of raw, machine fuelled techno, caught the ear of Dave Clarke, who chose her as one of his favourite producers of 2021. Shortly after she contributed to Ben SIm's huge Symbolism VA as a handpicked artist alongside Lady Starlight, Insolate, Jaun Shanchez, Ritzi Lee and The Lady Machine. Since then, she has had a steady stream of releases in the form of remixes, VAs and a further EP with lots more on the schedule before the year is out. Tapefeed is an electronic music project made out of a collaboration from two Italian artists, Alessandro Boni and Rick Vayo. Currently based in London and Berlin. The duo's sounds encompass a rich array of styles from techno to experimental, raw percussion to 4/4 all whilst continuing to preserve their love of distinctive and powerful broken-beat grooves. From their Superstition residency at Village Underground to sharing the decks with techno leviathans Jeff Mills, Ben Klock, Tommy Four Seven, Paula Temple, Perc, I Hate Models and more, Tapefeed have been forging a path on the international techno scene over the last few years and are now holding a residency in the iconic London club Fabric since 2021. Together with an accumulation of releases on labels Mord, Metempsychosis and Abyss, in 2021 Tapefeed have launched their imprint “Inveterate” to focus on the duo's archetypal sound and vision by inviting producers to break the rules and explore the fringes of their artistic extremities/limits/frontiers. Inveterate aims to scale the perimeters of techno with fresh, anarchic and unexpected elements. Imagine growing up near Berlin, getting into dance music, going to Berghain for the first time and getting your mind blown by techno. Then, ten years later, you become a resident DJ at the fabled club. Not many people—any people?—can claim this story, but for Fadi Mohem, what would be so many DJs' dreams became a reality. After getting his 2017 debut 12-inch Reckless in the hands of all the right people in Berlin, Mohem established a bold, bouncy techno sound with releases on Modeselektor's Seilscheibenpfeiler, Ben Klock's Klockworks and FJAAK's SPANDAU20, pretty much the cream of the crop of modern techno. Now, this year, he's becoming one of Berghain's newest residents, alongside other exciting names like Sedef Adasï and Naty Seres (and Lakuti upstairs at Panorama Bar). As heard on his recent collaborative with Ben Klock, Mohem has modern techno down to a science, thanks to a combination of reverence for the old-school and clever rhythmic touches, like the irresistible snare pattern on "Prefix." His RA Podcast sounds like what you might expect from a new generation of Berghain resident: aerodynamic, heavy and, honestly a little midtempo compared to a lot of other young techno DJs. It's the sound the club has made world-famous, with cuts from Reeko, Heiko Laux and Truncate, plus some special moments from aya, DJ Deeon and Petar Dundov. It takes a certain kind of DJ to get to this hallowed place, and Fadi Mohem deserves it. @fadimohem Read more: https://ra.co/podcast/842
BLACK GIRL / WHITE GIRL aka Karin & Ty, are a duo on the rise. In their ten years of experience, they have defined an iconic new sound oscillating between classic 90s techno, jackin' Chicago acid, and hypnotic, ass-shaking machine funk. The pair has been on a roll recently, releasing a string of highly sought-after cuts on Hardgroove, Symbolism, Super Rhythm Trax, and Balkan Vinyl, while picking up support from techno titans such as Ben Sims, Josh Wink, Truncate, The Advent, Ben Klock, Luke Slater, and Marcel Dettmann. On the dancefloor, their masterfully crafted mix of techno meets acid, breaks, and rave morphs into the energetic peak-time force that has come to define the BLACK GIRL / WHITE GIRL sound. Their sets are fast-paced and muscular, transporting us to the golden era of techno while also moving us firmly into the future, showcasing their appreciation for the past while creating something new altogether. Over the last years, they've made their mark turning out incredible sets for Ben Sims' MACHINE, Watergate, ADE, Blitz, The Block, Dockyard, MARICAS, HE.SHE.THEY, Milkshake, and Motion Bristol. If you've ever seen the duo live, you'll know they have that elusive magic touch. Every time Karin and Ty hit the decks, they bring all the twisted arcs, goosebumps, and mind-melting sensations. Without a doubt, you're in for an unforgettable journey. BLACK GIRL / WHITE GIRL are currently making major waves with their 'Fluid Humanism' EP on Ben Sims' Hardgroove imprint, and with further releases on Warehouse Music, Truncate, and Lobster Theremin on the horizon, 2022 is shaping up to be a golden year for the duo. Let's talk about that minimal Berlin club sound via Berghain staple, Ben Klock. We trace the roots of house & techno in the US. Unpack and untangle influences traveling back and forth across the Atlantic. Dig into repetition and our perception of time. Layers on layers on layers. Unravel. CORRECTION: In the podcast Aaron has a slip and credits "Minimal Nation" to Carl Craig instead of Robert Hood - whoops, sorry! Follow us on Twitter! Check out our website!
