Originally from the southwest of France, Marco has been honing his craft for over 27 years. Immersed in the French and Spanish rave culture since 1995, his music naturally became its reflection. As a techno DJ and producer, he has released more than sixty EPs and remixes on labels such as Labrynth, Illegal Alien, Elektrax, Coincidence, The Zone, and Amazone, some of which have received support from iconic artists such as Chris Liebing, Richie Hawtin, Laurent Garnier, Speedy J, and Dave Clarke. In 2004, he founded Amazone Records, which—21 years later—has established itself as a leading French label, featuring some of the most talented artists on the international scene, including Perc, Charlotte de Witte, Marco Bruno, Submerge, Electric Rescue, Mark Williams, Audio Injection, Tom Hades, and David Carretta, among many others. Alongside his solo projects, he has also collaborated on an electro-techno live act with Parisian singer Drey. Their first release in 2008 received support and collaboration from pioneers David Carretta and Millimetric, and was highlighted by media such as Trax Magazine. His acclaimed performances have taken him across France, as well as to Spain, Mexico, Switzerland, Poland, and Italy. Mexican restaurant began in Philipstown After 25 years of serving his trademark Mexican cuisine at locations in Philipstown, Fishkill, Beacon and Wappingers Falls, Luis Pinto, the owner and affable presence at the Maya Café on Route 9, has sold the business. He and his restaurant had come a long way since his days growing up in Merida, the largest city on Mexico's Yucatan peninsula. "It had about 250,000 people when my family moved to Dallas when I was 15," recalled Pinto, 69. "Now it's a city of 1.5 million!" In 2000, Pinto moved to Philipstown, where he still lives, and a year later opened the Maya Café in Perc's Plaza (now Philipstown Plaza) on Route 9. "It was the best thing that happened in my life," said Pinto, who still runs into his original customers. "They told me it was the best Mexican food they had ever had." They were also fond of his spiked "Mexican lemonade," which he provided at no charge. The café initially didn't have a liquor license, but a wine store next door made it easy to bring your own. The staff consisted of Pinto and a friend. In 2005, he moved the restaurant up Route 9 to Fishkill, where he purchased Moog's Farm Restaurant. Steve Carlson, a Philipstown contractor, renovated the building. It was a significant expansion. At Perc's Plaza, the cafe served 30 to 35 people. In Fishkill, Pinto could seat up to 140. Pinto learned to cook in his mother's kitchen in Mexico and from his grandmother, who prepared meals for the employees at the family bakery and grocery. "My grandfather was the best baker in Merida," Pinto said. "He made everything by hand and supplied 40 stores." As a high school junior in Dallas, Pinto worked as a dishwasher in a Mexican restaurant. As he took on more duties, he became known as "the king of nachos." In 1986 Pinto met his wife, Joni, while working at a hotel in Cancun. The Buffalo native spoke no Spanish, but the two operated a stall at a Cancun market, where they sold tacos, and Pinto served his favorite recipe, cochinita pibil. "It's a typical Yucatan dish," he said. After marinating a pig with sour orange for a day and adding spices, it's wrapped in banana leaves, buried in a charcoal pit and roasted for several hours. Pinto said he has kept his café menu "pretty authentic," but he didn't use much oil and included plenty of vegetables. He traveled to Mexico regularly to purchase about 90 pounds of spices per trip. "You can get the same spices here, but the quality isn't the same," he said. He still enjoys cooking and creating dishes. One of his Saturday night favorites has been salmon and avocado stuffed with shrimp, surrounded by fruit. Pinto operated a Maya Café in Beacon for a year in 2006. He ran a Wappingers Falls location for 15 years until it closed in 2025. Last month, Pinto sold the Fishkill restaurant to the Van Wyck Restaurant Group. "I'm at a point in my life where I want to visit my daughter and grandchildren in Dallas more," he said. "Joni retired 10 years ago, and I want to travel with her." Pinto said he had his children and grandchildren in mind when he kept a small piece of the business as part of the sale. He will continue to be a presence at the café for a while, but the 60-hour workweeks are over.

Key Learning Points Why these guidelines matter: This is the first joint AHA/ACC clinical practice guideline specifically on acute PE, bringing together a truly multidisciplinary writing committee (cardiology, pulmonology, hematology, emergency medicine, interventional radiology, surgery, and others). Prior guidelines existed from individual societies, but nothing this comprehensive had been updated in roughly five to six years. New PE clinical categories (A through E): One of the most impactful changes is replacing the old “massive/submassive” and “low/intermediate/high risk” labels with five categories that form a severity continuum. Category A is subclinical (incidental PE found on imaging in asymptomatic patients). Category B covers symptomatic but low-severity patients. Category C is where much of the clinical complexity lives — symptomatic, hemodynamically stable patients subdivided into C1, C2, and C3 based on RV function and biomarkers. Category D represents incipient cardiopulmonary failure (transient hypotension, normotensive shock with end-organ dysfunction). Category E is frank cardiopulmonary failure, with E2 being the sickest — refractory or recurrent cardiac arrest. Respiratory modifiers (hypoxia requiring supplemental oxygen) layer onto C, D, and E. Diagnostic approach: Clinical evaluation comes first — history, exam, and validated decision tools (Wells score, revised Geneva, PERC). If clinical probability is low and D-dimer is normal, imaging can be safely avoided. If either is concerning, imaging is warranted. CTPA remains the preferred imaging modality due to superior sensitivity, specificity, wide availability, and ability to assess clot burden and alternative diagnoses. VQ scanning is still appropriate when CTPA is contraindicated, and VQ SPECT offers better reproducibility and specificity than traditional planar VQ if available. Echocardiography is not a diagnostic test for PE but is important for risk stratification — RV size, TAPSE, and tissue Doppler measures all contribute prognostic information. Anticoagulation updates: Anticoagulation remains the cornerstone of treatment. For patients potentially needing advanced therapies (C3, D, E), parenteral anticoagulation is started first. A notable recommendation: low molecular weight heparin is generally preferred over unfractionated heparin, based on evidence showing more effective VTE risk reduction, more predictable pharmacokinetics, no need for routine monitoring, lower rates of heparin-induced thrombocytopenia, and no increase in major bleeding. The committee acknowledged this may create discomfort for clinicians accustomed to unfractionated heparin’s easy reversibility, but the difficulty of achieving and maintaining therapeutic levels with UFH was a significant concern. Advanced therapies: Catheter-based thrombolysis, mechanical thrombectomy, systemic thrombolysis, and surgical embolectomy all received mostly class 2B recommendations (“can consider”) for C3 and D categories, reflecting that current evidence shows improvement in short-term surrogate measures (RV/LV ratio, hemodynamics) but lacks definitive hard outcome data on mortality. For category E1 patients, recommendations are stronger (class 2A). Multiple trials are expected soon — HI-PEITHO, PEERLESS-2, PE-TRACT, PERSEVERE, TORPEDO, and PROG — that should substantially inform future updates. PERT teams: Pulmonary embolism response teams are encouraged, particularly for C3, D, and E patients. They’ve been shown to reduce length of stay. For institutions without PERT capability, establishing consultation networks with larger centers is recommended. Post-PE follow-up: Patients shouldn’t be “left in the wilderness” after discharge. The guidelines recommend communication within the first week to ensure understanding of diagnosis and treatment, an in-person visit at or before three months to assess for persistent symptoms and discuss anticoagulation duration, ongoing surveillance for chronic thromboembolic pulmonary disease, and periodic reassessment for those on extended anticoagulation. Electric Rescue is also involved in organising parties in Paris, with its Skryptöm residency at Kilomètre 25, Glazart, Rex Club, 1988 live club in Rennes and its famous Play parties in unusual and secret venues around the French capital. Always on the lookout for new artists emerging in techno, he was the first to invite artists like Boys Noize, Laurent Garnier, Ben Klock, Ellen Allien, Stephan Bodzin, Dave Clarke, Anthony rother, Oscar mulero, Dusty Kid, Gary Beck, Alan Fitzpatrick, blue hour, cleric and Paul Ritch to mix in Paris, from the newcomer to the biggest artists from our electronic scene. At the same time, he is pursuing a lesser-known activity in his career, the artistic direction of clubs such as Kilomètre25, Glazart since 2021. He founded Nexus in 2019 and withdrew in September 2022 to devote himself solely to Kilomètre25 and Glazart. Considered as a discrete but efficient techno activist, Electric Rescue has been insuffling in his entire work the Rave values which he has been adopting, defending them and making them self-references (exchanging, sharing, brotherhood, freedom, underground culture) rejecting so the blinding DJ business spot lights In 2026, A new album will be released on Cod3QR Laurent Garnier label, a very surprising opus with some group collaborations with artists such as Abd Al Malik, Amélie Nilles, Gaspar Claus, Boscaro and his brother Maxime Dangles who will arrive on a huge label to be name soon. 2026 promises to be another nice year for Electric Rescue.
