Ep. 80 - Stewart Billie, Unity Billie, Lestat Billie. In this episode I talk with the members of Narbona. Narbona is a Navajo death metal band from Nahodishgish NM (near Crownpoint). Narbona formed as a trio of father and sons in August 2022. They play death metal style influenced by Slayer, Hypocrisy, Death, Deicide, and Morbid Angel. I met up with the band at Starbucks in Gallup NM so excuse the background noise. We talk about the formation of Narbona, playing live shows, and the band's family dynamic. Check out Narbona's website and follow them on Facebook or Instagram for upcoming live appearances. Songs after the interview by Narbona “Warrior's Last Stand” & “Dark Wind”. Ep. 79 - Tanner Anderson, Carl Skildum, and Matthew Kirkwold. In this episode I talk with the 3 members of Majesties from Minnesota, The members of Majesties are also in some other awesome bands. Tanner is in the black metal band Obsequiae. Carl and Matt are both in the black metal band Inexorum and the thrash band Antiverse. Majesties just released their album "Vast Reaches Unclaimed" on March 3rd via 20 Buck Spin. Majesties play a style of melodic death metal reminiscent of the early 1990's Gothenburg Sweden movement. I like to think of it as the album In Flames never wrote after ‘The Jester Race'. This album is definitely a tribute to the early 1990's Gothenburg melodic death metal movement. We talk about the formation of Majesties, how they bonded over melodic death metal, and the new album. I really enjoyed their new album and was honored to talk with the band who just released one of the best albums of 2023. I hope everyone enjoys this episode. Ep. 78 - Dominik Goncalves dos Reis (Downfall of Gaia). In this episode I talk to Dominik, vocalist/guitarist of the German black metal band Downfall of Gaia. If you are not familiar with Downfall of Gaia, they play a unique style of atmospheric black metal by incorporating hardcore, crust, and sludge. They will release a new album on March 17th - ‘Silhouettes of Disgust'. Downfall of Gaia have been one of my favorite bands since I discovered them in 2012 so I jumped at the chance to talk with the band. I hope you enjoy this episode. Ep. 74 - Sammy Pierre Duet (Goatwhore). In this episode I talk with Goatwhore guitarist Sammy Duet. Goatwhore recently released their 8th studio album 'Angels Hung From The Arches Of Heaven' on Oct. 7th. Be sure to check out their new album. I have been a Goatwhore fan since 'A Haunting Curse' album and felt fortunate to talk with Sammy. We talk about their recent tours, new album, and horror movies. From the Goatwhore Earsplit bio "Storming into their twenty-fifth year as purveyors of the most ruthless extreme metal, GOATWHORE returns with their long-awaited new full-length, Angels Hung From The Arches Of Heaven, set for release on October 7th via Metal Blade Records! Unquestionably their strongest, most accomplished album to date in sound, concept, and execution, Angels Hung From The Arches Of Heaven emits forty-seven desolating minutes of the band's trademark fusion of death, black, thrash, and classic metal. Delivered with breathless intensity and an unapologetic bloodlust, the twelve-track offering stands among the most thrilling records to come out of 2022. “I would describe this record as being very raw, but clarity is shaped within the chaos,” reflects vocalist Louis Ben Falgoust II. “'It's a journey of everything we've done and some new approaches as we advance forward. When we write, we mainly focus on the music and what we enjoy about playing it. We don't write just to appease others. We want to enjoy playing it in a live setting as well, especially night after night on the road'” I hope everyone enjoys this episode. Ep. 72 - Maurizio Iacono (Kataklysm, Ex Deo, Invictus). In this episode I talk with Maurizio most known for his vocals in Kataklysm. Maurizio will be releasing his solo album Invictus ‘Unstoppable' through MNRK on October 21. We talk about the recent Kataklysm tour, forming Invictus, and lyrics/themes of the new solo album. From the Maurzio's Earsplit bio “The sound of INVICTUS resonates deeply with all those who forged themselves in the fire of life's obstacles. Conceived as an unflinching examination of fury and determination, INVICTUS explores the depths of struggle, frustration, and perseverance that shaped Iacono into the man he is today. Comments Iacono, “The first single ‘Exiled' has a great start-to-finish that really touches a lot of elements this album represents. My whole career has been about overcoming obstacles and reaching the light while keeping true to myself. This is a project that, regardless of the outcome, needed to be done for my soul. I'm very honored to have had Chris Clancy, J-F Dagenais and Jeramie Kling by my side in this new endeavor. Unstoppable is the gateway to self-preservation and perseverance and I hope you all enjoy it!”. I hope everyone enjoys this episode. Ep. 71 - Andrew Lee (Ripped To Shreds). In this episode I talk with Andrew Lee from the Bay Area death metal band Ripped To Shreds. Andrew will be releasing his 3rd album “劇變 (Jubian)” through Relapse Records on October 14. We talk about Andrew's background, stereotypes, and the new Ripped Too Shred's album. From the Ripped To Shred's Earsplit bio “‘This is the next level. We're making that jump', Andrew observes when considering what the new album, 劇變 (Jubian), will mean for Ripped to Shreds. Once a project operated out of his parents' basement, now a fully operational death metal unit, Andrew admits: “It does make me a little bit nervous when I think about how the album is gonna be received. But in terms of what I achieved with the album, I feel like I did a lot of things I've wanted to do for a while”. For one thing, with Jubian, all the recording was handled in Andrew's home studio by Andrew himself from October 2021 to January 2022. He's recorded plenty of times as a self-made extreme metal musician, but this time, he went all in. “Compared to the previous album Luan, Justin [Bean] recorded the drums at his friend's studio. So I'm not exactly sure what all kinds of mics he used. But here, in my home studio, I installed acoustic paneling on the ceiling, some bass traps. I got a whole bunch of new mics. I got new cymbals. I wanted it to sound good.” He adds that the new record is also “the first big thing” he's mixed entirely by himself. — Opening song is by Tribal Kills "Fire In The Sky" (check them out): https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=adVxRpSaqgI — Band links: https://rippedtoshredsdeathmetal.bandcamp.com/album/jubian https://www.instagram.com/rippedtoshredsdeathmetal/ https://www.facebook.com/rippedtoshredsband https://store.relapse.com/b/ripped-to-shreds https://www.facebook.com/RelapseRecords https://twitter.com/RelapseRecords https://www.instagram.com/relapserecords/

Thank you to our label Prosthetic Records for being with us the whole way and supporting this album one-hundred percent. We hope everyone enjoys it.” "Feeding The Flames Of Annihilation" was self-produced at Homewrecker Studios in Tucson with bassist Ryan Bram engineering and mixing, before the album was handed to Brad Boatright at Audiosiege for mastering, the record completed with cover art by Matthew Mutterperl. Ep. 64 - Silver Talon. In this episode I talk with the members of Silver Talon. If you are not familiar with Silver Talon, they are a progressive power metal band from Portland, OR. I was fortunate to speak with them at their recent live show in Gallup, NM on 7/9/22. Silver Talon formed in 2017 after the disbandment of Spellcaster. Spellcaster was a metal/hard rock entity whose members went on to form Unto Others and Silver Talon. FYI I still listen to Spellcaster's 2016 album "Night Hides The World" on regular rotation. Last year, Silver Talon released one of the best albums of 2021 entitled "Decadence & Decay". I hope everyone checks out Silver Talon and their associated bands. After the interview I play some live recorded songs from their Gallup, NM performance. Thank you and I hope you enjoy this episode. -- Opening song is by Tribal Kills "Fire In The Sky" (check them out): https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=adVxRpSaqgI -- Website: https://www.silver-talon.com/ -- Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/silver.talon/ -- Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/silvertalonband -- Bandcamp: https://silvertalon.bandcamp.com/ -- Silver Talon Spotify: https://open.spotify.com/artist/2xzmBFPxodSCBLlq5d8Cax -- Spellcaster Spotify: https://open.spotify.com/artist/4OT5v8v9QVuRT4FMaEtuyM
