AI is a transformational technology impacting education, business, law, and productivity. The U.S. and China are in a high-stakes race to dominate AI development with the U.S. slightly ahead (estimated months, not years). 1. Most people who are experimenting with power play and BDSM aren't doing anything extreme. They're just two people who trust each other, trying to "spice it up." But skipping the negotiation conversation because it feels like it has to be a mood killer is a rookie move that can lead to real problems. I'm not talking bruises here, I'm talking about emotional distance, shut down, and loss of libido. This episode is built around a real couple — smart, communicative, good at relationships — who did years of power play without ever having a proper negotiation conversation, because they both assumed that trusting each other was enough. It wasn't. The fallout was a sexless relationship, nervous system shutdown, and a lot of hurt that took real work to untangle. I want to help you avoid that entirely.Whether you're using restraints, doing impact, or just soft-topping: the negotiation is the first scene. Done right, it's not a clipboard and a liability waiver — it's where the anticipation starts, where you find out what your partner actually wants, where you start co-creating something that's going to be really, really good. This episode is about how to do that.In this episode:Why smart, aware people keep skipping BDSM negotiation — and what it actually costs themWhat subspace is, why your prefrontal cortex goes offline in it, and why that means the bottom has to be an architect of the negotiation, not a passengerThe real difference between topping/bottoming and dom/sub dynamics (and why accidentally agreeing to the wrong one causes relationship problems)How to make the negotiation desire-forward, not just limit-focused — starting with how you want to feel, who you want to be, and what energy from a partner opens you upWhy aftercare isn't an afterthought, and how to talk about it before you playWhere to find real community and credible resources if you want to go deeperWhether you're kink-curious or have been playing for years, this one's worth your time.Resources mentioned: Yes, No, Maybe Lists from various sources (pick your favorite): Babeland: https://www.babeland.com/babe-blog/how-tos/yes-no-maybe/Bex Caputo: https://www.bextalkssex.com/yes-no-maybe/Sunny Megatron: https://sunnymegatron.com/consent-sexual-boundaries-yesnomaybe/Get my free guide: Get Out of Your Head: A Starter Guide to Releasing the Pressure, Shame, and "Shoulds" Around Intimacy at https://laurajurgens.com/guideMore links: Substack at https://laurajurgens.substack.com/Pleasure Path Diagnostic here: https://laurajurgens.com/diagnostic/About me, testimonials, blog, bookings: https://laurajurgens.com/Wheel of Erotic emotions, go to: https://laurajurgens.com/wheelCopyright notice: All content in this podcast is copyrighted and copying, scraping, data mining, or using the content to train AI is prohibited.
We are in the birth canal of a new paradigm and the biggest thing standing between you and your most aligned life isn't a big dramatic block. It's the small, daily "shoulds" you keep saying yes to instead of listening to what you actually want.In this episode, I dive into one of the most underrated spiritual practices: releasing the should. Not just the big ones like the career, the country and the relationship, but the tiny, everyday moments where you override your own truth because it "makes more sense."

To forgive is not an option for a Christian. We must forgive and keep our heart clean and untangled. God will empower us to forgive others if we ask Him for His help.
You have everything you need. A good job, a house, the car that you want. Individual freedom to follow your dreams, be who you want to be, do what you want to do, go where you want, when you want, dress in the latest fashion—the god of freedom, an idol. Your desires define your path. That is your identity. And each day you strive to build on this identity because it isn't fixed. It evolves based on what you feel and think. There is no rest in this identity. It is an endless pursuit of self. The idol of self isn't like other things we can point to because the finish line is ever moving. We always want to be something or someone more than we are. How much are you thinking about these things? But when did this thinking of self begin? Now the serpent was more crafty than any other beast of the field that the Lord God had made. He said to the woman, “Did God actually say, ‘You shall not eat of any tree in the garden'?” And the woman said to the serpent, “We may eat of the fruit of the trees in the garden, but God said, “'You shall not eat of the fruit of the tree that is in the midst of the garden, neither shall you touch it, lest you die.'” But the serpent said to the woman, “You will not surely die. For God knows that when you eat of it your eyes will be opened, and you will be like God, knowing good and evil (Genesis 3:1-5). Eve. She desired to be something she wasn't, having knowledge of good and evil like God. It wasn't because there wasn't perfectly good fruit in the rest of the garden. Eve fell to the idol of self. Satan got her to overthink about all she could have but didn't. From that moment on, humanity began the race with itself, to run continually seeking to be something we are not. Overthinking about ourselves and forgetting to think about God. God created us in his image but not to be gods. Our present cultural norm of self-sufficiency says we don't need anyone or anything to be successful. God? Why would you need God in your everyday decisions and thinking? What we forget is this deception in thought started in the Garden of Eden. The basic definition of self-sufficient is problematic in and of itself. “Needing no help in satisfying one's basic needs, like food.” Last I checked, we are very dependent on not only others, but also on things wildly outside of our human control when it comes to food. Last I checked, we don't control the rain or sunshine required to grow crops. While we have created technologies to help supply water when there isn't any for crops or livestock during a drought, we control less than we believe. The secondary definition of self-sufficient is emotionally and intellectually independent. Eve was seeking intellectual independence when she ate the forbidden fruit. She wanted self-sufficiency. When I think about the Garden of Eden and the beauty, provision and abundance described, my mind drifts off to a place where there was peace and a oneness with the Lord. Yet Eve was tempted. In perfect communion with the Lord, she wanted intellectual independence from God! Thanks to Eve, we don't live in Eden, and ever since the fall, the volume of temptation to self-sufficiency has been dialed up to a fevered pitch with everything in our midst competing against our thoughts of God! Peace and oneness with him seem elusive, even for those of us who have accepted Jesus Christ as our Lord and Savior. Our days are filled with temptation to lean into idols that make us overthink about ourselves and think less about Jesus! Let's call these the idols of self. Basically, anything that prioritizes thinking of “self” above everything and everyone else, most importantly, thinking about yourself more than God. That fevered noise in our culture about how we can overthink ourselves is anything but peaceful. Appearance. How much are you thinking each day about your appearance? Has this become an idol of self? This can manifest in so many ways so let's just consider a few. Wanting to dress professionally and look nice for work is one thing, but has this become something that takes up a lot of your thinking? Do you worry about what other people are wearing? Do you comment on other people when they are dressed differently? What about your hair and makeup? Are you skipping devotional time with the Lord to make sure you look the best? Are you watching fashion reels on social media or shopping online instead of reading your Bible? Do you seek attention by what you are wearing and get an extra charge when someone compliments the way you look? On average, women spend between $1,500-$2,000 on clothing and $1,000-$3,700 on beauty products and services annually. Again, this is average, and most studies will tell you the more you make at work, the more you will spend on average. Other costs to consider are gym memberships and other cosmetic services many women are using to stay looking their best! None of this is truly “bad” but when you overthink it and it becomes an idol, anything good can quickly become a slippery slope leading you away from your identity in God and closer to what our noisy culture is demanding of you. Remember the Lord does not look at the things people look at. People look at the outward appearance, but the Lord looks at the heart (1 Samuel 16:7). If you overthink your appearance, what does this indicate about your heart? Sovereignty. Are you someone that always thinks you are right? Is the sovereignty of self an idol for you? Even believers of Jesus can get caught in this overthinking that lives to expect others to function by their own moral compass. Even if your compass is Jesus, are you lording over people with your views and pushing them away from the true gospel with your rules instead of being loving. For there are many who are insubordinate, empty talkers and deceivers (Titus 1:10). The Spirit clearly says that in later times some will abandon the faith and follow deceiving spirits and things taught by demons. Such teachings come through hypocritical liars, whose consciences have been seared as with a hot iron. They forbid people to marry and order them to abstain from certain foods, which God created to be received with thanksgiving by those who believe and who know the truth (1 Timothy 4:1-3). God's Word says these people must be rebuked! You cannot add “your rules” to God's truth! Lately, we have seen people's thoughts on full display through social media. Somehow, we have mixed culture and politics with a message about Jesus that truly does not add up. Judgements when others don't believe what we do or how we do are quick. When you spend time overthinking how other people aren't like you or doing what you want them to do instead of focusing on how God would want you to show up to those that are different from you, sovereignty of self may be an idol. There is only one lawgiver and judge, he who is able to save and to destroy. But who are you to judge your neighbor (James 4:12)? We are not supposed to be the judge of others. This doesn't mean we should shy away from providing good feedback to others in a non-judgmental way, but we need to avoid thinking we are the end all be all! The only truth is in the Word of God! Only God can truly change things and the more we overthink about our way being the right way, the less we remember God's way! Self-Promotion/Pride. Unfortunately, many who are overthinking about their way being the right way have a significant platform for self-promotion. Even if you don't suffer with thoughts of self-sovereignty, are you thinking a lot about your next social media post or how many views, likes and follows you have? Is the idol of self-promotion taking ahold of your time? If you post something that you feel good about, are you overly disappointed if it doesn't perform well? Maybe you only receive one “like”. How does this shift your mood? Are you angry or discouraged? On the other end of the spectrum, let's say you have a following on social media—many likes and many follows. Are you spending more time thinking about these followers than you are about God? Beyond social media, how are you promoting yourself up at work? Do you think about the next meeting and how you will comment or get noticed? Do you worry when you don't get the last word or when another colleague receives accolades? If you lead a team, how do you balance taking credit or giving it? Are you an I or a we colleague? I did this or we worked together… The Bible consistently warns about self-promotion and pride and not thinking of others. Whoever exalts himself will be humbled, and whoever humbles himself will be exalted (Matthew 23:12). Let the one who boasts, boast in the Lord. For it is not who commends himself who is approved, but the one whom the Lord commends (2 Corinthians 10:17-18) Remembering pride goes before destruction, and a haughty spirit before a fall (Proverbs 16:18). In the pride of his face the wicked does not seek him; all his thoughts are; there is no God (Psalm 10:4). Bottom line, if you are thinking about exalting yourself and how it makes you feel, good or bad, more than you are thinking about what God tells you to do in his Word, you are overthinking about yourself! Covetousness. Do you spend a lot of time thinking about things you want or don't have? Even covetousness, a fancy word for jealousy, can be another way of overthinking about yourself. Described as a harmful spirit in 1 Samuel, jealousy can “rush upon us” when we least expect it. In 1 Samuel we learn how Saul is truly jealous of the attention David is receiving retuning from war. He is jealous of how people follow David, so much so that he seeks to harm David both directly and by sending him off to more conflict. Jealousy can create so many thoughts. I wish I had clothes like her. If only, I had the opportunities so and so had. I really like that car that he drives. How can I get these things, or how can I take the good attention away from someone else and get this spotlight on me?! Are you like Saul? Jealous and overthinking about how you wish someone wasn't as prosperous as you? Are you plotting ways to tear them down? Has a harmful spirit rushed upon your thinking? James 3:16 tells us where jealousy and selfish ambition exist there will be disorder and every vile practice. And this is not God's will for us! Remember, our God will supply every need of ours according to his riches in glory in Christ Jesus (Philippians 4:19). God also chooses who he will exalt and when. We are just called to follow him! Overthinking about ourselves is isolating. Whether we are overconsumed thinking about our appearance, thinking we are always right, deciding how we can promote ourselves, or coveting what someone else has, we are simply overthinking about ourselves! All these ways of overthinking don't draw us closer to God or others. These patterns of overthinking can lead to isolation and even depression. We were created for unity with God and community with other believers. Now, how can we shift this overthinking? Releasing ourselves from the culture driven notions that self is the central most important part of our life is first. People and things can never provide for our central happiness! Seeking praise from others will always disappoint us! The gospel is the direct antithesis of the culture of self-idolatry. Jesus invites us to a beautiful life of thinking about him! Start with abiding. Abide in me, and I in you. As the branch cannot bear fruit by itself, unless it abides in the vine, neither can you unless you abide in me. I am the vine and you are the branches. Whoever abides in me and I in him, he it is that bears much fruit, for apart from me you can do nothing (John 15: 4-5). Abide in my love (John 15:9). In Jesus, you will bear much fruit! Without him, you will do nothing. Remember why you exist. It isn't to think about yourself. You were made for God. Life itself is amazing—a gift from God each day. Turning your overthinking about yourself to thinking about God will bring joy and fulfillment beyond what you can fathom!
Warlocks are the only class where the phrase "I signed a terrible contract and somehow came out ahead" counts as a character concept. By level 20, your patron has become equal parts sugar daddy, eldritch therapist, and extended warranty scammer. Somewhere between your third Eldritch Invocation and your fourth existential crisis, you stop asking whether the power is worth the cost and start asking if your soul came with roadside assistance. Show Notes In the second half of the Warlock deep dive, we continue advancing our example characters from level 5 all the way to level 20, exploring how the class evolves from a reliable blaster into one of the most customizable spellcasters in 2014 D&D 5e. Along the way we discuss new spell options, increasingly specialized Eldritch Invocations, Pact Boon upgrades, and the always-interesting challenge of squeezing maximum value out of a very limited number of spell slots. As the builds mature, we compare different approaches to survivability, damage output, and utility. The conversation highlights how Warlocks reward careful planning while still leaving plenty of room for weird and thematic choices. Whether you're building a Hexblade, Fiend, or something stranger, the class offers countless ways to personalize your character. Naturally, no discussion of Warlocks would be complete without jokes about selling your soul, suspicious contracts, and patrons who definitely read the fine print that you ignored. Between optimization advice and increasingly ridiculous examples, we discover that eldritch power and bad life decisions make an excellent combination. Key Takeaways Level 5 is a major power spike thanks to 3rd-level spells and additional Eldritch Invocation options. Invocations continue to define a Warlock's identity throughout higher levels. Pact Boons and invocation choices can dramatically change how two Warlocks of the same subclass play. Short rests remain essential because Pact Magic depends heavily on recovering spell slots frequently. Gift of the Ever-Living Ones and other defensive options can greatly improve survivability. Blade-focused builds use options like Thirsting Blade to keep pace with martial classes. Mystic Arcanum provides access to powerful high-level spells without changing the core Pact Magic system. Warlocks excel when players specialize rather than trying to do everything at once. The class rewards planning and understanding how individual features interact. Flavor and mechanics blend exceptionally well, making Warlocks one of the most thematic classes in 5e. Welcome to the RPGBOT Podcast. What do you do when you're 31, just bought your first house, and hear the words "you have breast cancer"? In this powerful episode, Jen sits down with Jessica Slocumb — a nearly nine-year breast cancer survivor, prevention advocate, and the heart behind the Instagram community @breast.friends_united. Jessica shares the moment everything changed, from feeling a lump while getting ready for work to the radiating pain she believes was God telling her to get checked. We talk about her stage 2, estrogen- and HER2-positive diagnosis, five rounds of chemo, a double mastectomy, and the year of HER2 infusions that followed — plus the honest, messy, in-between parts no one prepares you for. Jessica opens up about the testimony she received on her front stoop, the question her oncologist couldn't answer ("what caused this?"), and how that one unanswered question sent her on a journey to research the lifestyle, environmental, and wellness factors so often left out of the conversation. This conversation is for any woman who's newly diagnosed, in the thick of treatment, or trying to reduce her risk — and for anyone who loves someone walking this road. In this episode we cover: Finding a lump at 31 and why she almost skipped the mammogram Her full treatment path: chemo, double mastectomy, tissue expanders, and recalled implants The "we don't know what causes cancer" answer that changed everything Small, doable swaps to reduce everyday toxic burden — laundry detergent, skincare, food, candles, and water Why diet and going organic were her first changes (glyphosate, grass-fed, pasture-raised) The 28-day study on switching to non-toxic products and breast cancer gene expression Childhood trauma, nervous system regulation, and why stress is part of healing How cancer reshaped her relationships — and the wisdom her husband gave her Releasing the fear of recurrence and living fully anyway Her message for the woman hearing "you have breast cancer" tonight "God takes our ashes and turns them to beauty. This is only a season — your world is not over." Connect with Jessica: Instagram: @breast.friends_united A note: This episode is for education and encouragement, not medical advice. Always work with your own care team on decisions about screening, treatment, and prevention. If this episode moved you, share it with a woman who needs it today — someone is sitting alone in her diagnosis right now, and your share might be the thing that reaches her. You know this feeling. The heaviness in your chest before making a decision. The way your mind rehearses worst-case scenarios on repeat until you're exhausted before the day even begins. The paralysis that keeps you in situations you've outgrown — not because they're good, but because they're known. And the unknown? The unknown feels like falling…..You call it anxiety. You call it overthinking. You call it “being careful.”But beneath all of those words is something older, something more primal: Your fear circuit — an alarm system in your brain that was designed to keep you alive. And it has been working overtime. Not because the danger is real. But because somewhere in your past, your nervous system learned that change itself is the threat.Let me tell you how this works.Your brain has a vital mechanism called the amygdala — a small, almond-shaped region that scans for threat constantly. When it detects danger, it floods your body with cortisol and adrenaline. If the threat is real and immediate — a car swerving toward you, a person attacking you — this system saves your life. But also…..It sharpens your focus. It mobilizes your muscles. It makes you faster, sharper, more capable. If the threat is not immediate but your amygdala was trained in an environment where safety was never guaranteed, the alarm never fully turns off.Your brain begins treating everything unfamiliar as dangerous. New opportunities.New relationships. New versions of yourself. And unconscious vows form to reinforce the pattern: I must avoid risks at all costs. It's not safe to step outside my comfort zone. My fears define me.These aren't weaknesses. These are the architecture your psyche built to survive an environment that taught you early: Change means loss. Vulnerability means harm. The unknown cannot be trusted.Your younger self needed these vows. They were brilliant. But you are not surviving anymore. You are allowed to live. Here's the part that makes this so exhausting: When your fear circuit is chronically activated, your prefrontal cortex — the part of your brain responsible for logic, perspective, and decision-making — gets overridden. You can't think your way out of it. Because the part of your brain that thinks clearly is being drowned out by the part that is screaming danger. If you've ever wondered why you “know” something is irrational but still can't stop feeling afraid, this is why.The amygdala doesn't care about logic. It cares about survival. And if your history taught it that new things hurt, it will keep you locked in the known — even if the known is slowly killing you.But here's what changes everything: You can retrain this system. Not by ignoring fear. Not by forcing yourself to “just be brave.” But by creating enough present-moment safety that your amygdala begins to learn a new pattern. When fear grips you and you respond with presence — with a hand on your chest, with a grounding breath, with a quiet acknowledgment that you are safe right now — you are teaching your nervous system the difference between past danger and present moment. You cannot think your way out of a feeling that didn't originate in your thinking brain. You are not dismissing the fear. You are informing your amygdala that this moment — this present moment — is not the old danger.I created an audio journey to help you do exactly this.
There is a fear that lives quietly inside almost every grieving parent. It rarely gets said out loud, but it shapes so much of how we carry our grief. If I let go of the pain, will I lose them too? Caryn, Josh's mom, spent years living inside that fear before she finally understood something that changed everything for her. Josh was Caryn's oldest son, a champion wrestler who came within reach of Olympic dreams, smart and witty and utterly fearless. A week and a half before he died in a motorcycle accident at 23, he told her three times that he was invincible. Caryn believes now that in some sense he was right. His soul was invincible. It was only his body that was not. The accident happened just eight days after Caryn and her husband told their sons they were separating. It was, as she puts it, the year from hell. She remembers saying out loud to her friends that she did not think she could live through it. But Caryn had tools most people do not. As a hypnotherapist of over twenty years, she understood the power of the subconscious mind, and in the days after Josh died, she leaned on every tool she had. She also began experiencing something she never expected. Messages from Josh in the middle of the night. An unearthly peace on her deck just days after his death. A spiritual awakening she did not see coming and, by her own admission, would have dismissed as woo-woo before. What grew out of all of it was a hard-won understanding about the difference between holding on and letting go. For a long time, Caryn held Josh so tightly that she could feel him gently telling her it was time to let him run free, that he did not need her to hold on so tight anymore. Releasing that grip did not come easily. It felt, for a while, like losing him all over again. But what came after was lighter. Freer. And Josh was still there. That is the heart of everything Caryn now teaches in her hypnotherapy practice and her grief retreats. Releasing the heavy emotions, the anger, the guilt, the haunting last images that will not leave you alone, does not mean releasing your child. Caryn believes, and I believe this too, that what keeps our children close is never the pain. It is the love. The pain is simply what we are afraid to put down. Caryn now leads four day grief retreats in the Blue Ridge Mountains of North Carolina, where she walks grieving parents through exactly this work. Her next retreat is coming up in July, and at the time of this release, there are still a few spots remaining if you feel called to it. You can find all the details at carynbird.com/retreat. Have you spent your day—or perhaps your entire week—carrying a mental load that feels too heavy to drop? In a world that demands constant movement, stopping can actually feel wrong, as if you're forgetting something vital. Today's session is a clinical permission slip to pause. We explore why your nervous system feels like it's running on a high-speed loop and how to send the signal that it is finally safe to rest. I'm Martin, a clinical hypnotherapist and former paramedic. I've spent years working with people at the absolute edge of their capacity. I want you to hear this clearly: You are not failing; you are simply a human being who has been running very hard. Time Chapters00:00 – The Truth Nobody Told You: You Have Done Enough 01:10 – The Science of a Dysregulated Nervous System 02:25 – Activating the Vagus Nerve: The "Emergency Is Over" Breath 04:20 – The Amber Light Kitchen: A Visualization of Softness 05:40 – Releasing the Physical Weight: Shoulders, Jaw, and Demand 07:45 – Reminders of Truth: Affirmations for the Overburdened 09:10 – 3 Daily Caring Tips for Moving Toward Stillness 10:40 – Carrying the "Amber Light" Into Your Day Affirmations for the OverburdenedLet these reminders settle into your body as truths rather than tasks:“I have done enough today.” “Resting is not falling behind; it is how I go further.” “My nervous system is allowed to be quiet.” “I do not have to earn stillness; I am allowed to simply stop.” “Taking care of myself is not selfish; it is what makes everything else possible.” “I am enough exactly as I am right now.” 3 Daily Caring TipsSchedule the Stop Before the Start: Before your day begins, identify a 10-minute block that is 100% protected from demand. Put it in your calendar first, before the world fills the space. Notice What Isn't Yours: We often carry "borrowed anxiety" from others. Ask yourself, "Is this mine?" You don't have to carry every stressor that lands near you. Let One Thing Be Unfinished: Choose one minor task and consciously decide it won't get done today. There is a profound neurological difference between a task that escaped you and one you deliberately put down. A Note From MartinStillness is not an indulgence; it is a clinical necessity for your recovery. If you are ready to stop just surviving the "low-level hum" of stress and want to reclaim your peace at a deeper level, my Anxiety Circuit Breaker Course is available for you. For $67, you can access focused sessions designed to change your world. Find your stillness at calminganxiety.fmIn everything you do today, my friend, to yourself... be kind.

Our dogs regularly encounter and experience stressors, be it in their daily lives or when they are training or trialing in Scent Work. The number and type of stressor the dog must contend with at any one time will inform whether they can rise to the occasion or crumble under the pressure. Visualize a watermelon and wrapping a single rubber band around it. A stressor has been applied, but the watermelon is no worse for wear. However, if we then wrap hundreds or even thousands of rubber bands around that very same watermelon, the pressure has exponentially increased. There is a high possibility that the watermelon will dramatically explode due to the pressure being applied. In this episode, we dive deeper into this analogy and highlight the importance of identifying the unique rubber bands that exist for their individual dog. How can we accomplish this? By truly viewing our training and trialing scenarios from the dog's perspective. After listening to this episode, make a list of your dog's rubber bands and create a training plan to address each. We want our dogs to experience a stressor and then recover, not succumb to it! Speaker: Dianna L. Sexual self-abandonment is what happens when we stop having sex for ourselves. We may or may not actually stop having sex -- we might be doing it for someone else. For their desire, on their timeline, their idea of what sex should look like, while our own wants, our own pace, our own boundaries quietly went missing somewhere along the way. That's what this episode is about. How we get there — there are three really common pathways, and I've lived through all three myself — and more importantly, how to find your way back to your own body, your own desires, and your own pleasure. This episode is about hope, and about a door that's still open to you no matter how long you've been on the other side of it.In this episode:The three pathways into sexual self-abandonment — through approval-seeking, through abusive relationships, and through trauma and dissociation — and why they so often overlapWhy "sacred sexuality" group spaces can actually be dangerous if you haven't done this work yetThe six steps back to yourself, including the grief that's part of the process (and why that grief is a good sign, not a setback)What it actually means to come home to your own body, your own erotic self, and your own yes and no — and why that's the foundation everything else gets built onTopics: sexual self-abandonment, somatic sex coaching, sexual trauma recovery, de-shaming, erotic self, intimacy coach, body-based healing, dissociation, reconnecting with your body, feminist sex coachGet my free guide: Get Out of Your Head: A Starter Guide to Releasing the Pressure, Shame, and "Shoulds" Around Intimacy at https://laurajurgens.com/guideMore links: Substack at https://laurajurgens.substack.com/Pleasure Path Diagnostic here: https://laurajurgens.com/diagnostic/About me, testimonials, blog, bookings: https://laurajurgens.com/Wheel of Erotic emotions, go to: https://laurajurgens.com/wheelCopyright notice: All content in this podcast is copyrighted and copying, scraping, data mining, or using the content to train AI is prohibited.

The interesting thing is that nothing may be wrong. What if the discomfort you're feeling is because your soul has already moved on, but your human self is still trying to catch up?In this deeply personal episode, I explore the disconnect between the human self and the soul during times of rapid change and transformation. You say yes when you mean no.You smile through disrespect. You swallow words that deserve to be spoken. You let people cross lines you didn't even know you were allowed to draw. And then you wonder why your body aches in places medicine can't explain. Why exhaustion isn't fixed by rest. Why resentment builds in spaces you can't name. Here's the truth they didn't tell you: Anger is not the problem. The suppression of anger is the problem. You were taught that good people don't get mad. That anger is destructive. That keeping the peace is more important than keeping yourself whole. So you buried something vital. You buried your RIGHTEOUS RAGE CIRCUIT — the critical system in your brain designed to protect you, to say no more, to draw the sacred line. But rage isn't what they told you it was.At its root, rage is passion. It is the fire that says: I matter. My needs are real. I deserve to take up space. And when you bury that fire, you don't extinguish it. You just force it underground where it burns differently — as chronic pain, as autoimmune flare-ups, as depression that no amount of gratitude journaling can touch.Let me explain how this works neurologically.Your brain runs a system — the rage circuit — rooted in your amygdala and hypothalamus. When activated, it releases adrenaline and cortisol. It sharpens your focus. It mobilizes your body. It prepares you to protect what matters. In its healthy expression, this is the energy of boundaries. Of assertiveness. Of passion that builds rather than destroys. If anger is allowed to flow appropriately, it does its job and moves through. If anger is suppressed chronically, it doesn't disappear. It rewires your nervous system into a state of constant, silent defense.Your body stays tight. Your jaw clenches without you noticing. Your shoulders carry weight that isn't yours. And over time, the suppression itself becomes the wound. Here's how the vow forms: If expressing anger was punished in your early environment — if a raised voice meant danger, if asserting yourself led to abandonment, if conflict taught you that feeling strongly equals being unsafe — your brain made a deal.Suppress the fire. Keep the peace.Disappear if necessary. The internal dialogue cement unconscious vows like … - I must suppress my anger - It's dangerous to be assertive - I must avoid conflict at all costs to be invisible This is your operating system running beneath everything — your relationships, your career, compounding your body's chronic tension. These vows were wise when they very much did feel like protection. They kept you safe in environments that couldn't hold your full power. But you are no longer that small. And the fire does not have to stay buried.I want to be very clear about something: Healthy anger is not violence. It is vitality. It is the part of you that refuses to betray yourself one more time. It is the energy that says this far, no further. It is the force that protects what you love — including yourself. If you've been taught that anger makes you a bad person, then you've been taught to abandon yourself at the first sign of discomfort. And that is not spiritual. That is not evolved. It's just another way of shutting down and disappearing.FLIP IT.Instead, gently turn toward your heart—where the hurt still lives and the lingering anger quietly simmers.I created this 10-minute audio journey to help you meet the part of yourself that carries this fire. Not to unleash it recklessly, but to restore it as a source of strength, clarity, and healthy boundaries. In this frequency-based experience, we explore The Fire of Passion—the RAGE circuit that fuels your assertiveness, courage, and ability to protect what matters. If you've ever struggled to say “no,” stand up for yourself, or express anger without shame, this holds the key.The immersion supports you in:* Releasing chronic people-pleasing and self-abandonment* Reconnecting with healthy anger as a source of vitality* Softening stored tension in the body* Building nervous system safety around assertiveness* Reclaiming your personal power—without aggressionEasily Listen Here. This journey was co-created with our resident intuitive guide, who masterfully works with the 7 emotive circuits that shape your reality. Reconciliation isn't the same thing as forgiveness. We've probably been confusing the two for too long, and it's had real consequences for real people. In this episode, let's look honestly at what genuine repair actually requires, who's responsible for what, and why it's worth the hard work of getting it right. LINKS: Book of Forgiving | Connect | YouTube | Coming Up TRANSCRIPT: Ian calls kids up and shares puppets (all the animal characters from Wally and Freya) Setup: We've been talking about Wally and Freya for a few weeks now. But there were other animals in this story— a whole community. And when something happens between two people, the whole community has to figure out how to respond. I need some helpers. Each of you gets a character. Facilitate a short, lively role play — you narrate, kids voice their characters: Wally did something that hurt Freya. Now everybody has to decide what to do.Name each option clearly as kids play them out: Get even — someone decides to do something mean back to Wally. Throw a tantrum — someone just explodes with feelings. Ask for help — someone goes to a trusted adult. Forgive — someone decides to let it go and move forward. Choose the relationship — someone decides whether they even want to keep being Wally's friend. Wally & Freya book Here's what I want you to notice: in any situation where someone gets hurt, everybody has choices. Not just one choice, but a whole menu of them. Some of those choices help. Some of them make things worse. And some of them are really, really hard. The hardest one (and the most interesting one) is what we're talking about today. The word you are going to hear me use is called “reconciliation,” and it means making a relationship better. It's not the same thing as forgiveness. They're related, but they're different. Here's the difference: Forgiveness is something YOU do, inside yourself. Reconciliation is something that happens BETWEEN PEOPLE. It takes both people showing up. Painting rocks… what are words we could use? The Distinction We Were Not Taught We have spent this whole series untangling forgiveness from the myths we inherited about it. Today we untangle one more, and it might be the most practically important one. Forgiveness and reconciliation are not the same thing. We use them interchangeably. We shouldn't. Collapsing them into one action creates real damage: It pressures the wounded person to restore a relationship before they feel safe. It lets the person who caused harm off the hook for the actual work of repair. It produces what we might call false reconciliation, a surface-level "we're fine" that buries the wound rather than healing it. The Tutus: "The preference is always to renew unless there is a question of safety." But — and this is important — reconciliation is the fourth step of the Fourfold Path, not the first. You cannot skip to it. And sometimes, honestly, you never get there. To be clear: not reaching reconciliation is not s sign of failure either. That's reality. Lessons from the TRC In 1995, Nelson Mandela appointed Archbishop Desmond Tutu to chair South Africa's Truth and Reconciliation Commission… a body tasked with the nearly impossible: helping a nation begin to heal from decades of apartheid-era atrocity. The TRC was empowered to grant amnesty to perpetrators who confessed their crimes truthfully and completely to the commission. Not automatically. Not cheaply. Truth first. Tutu's final remarks after submitting the report were: "We have looked the beast in the eye. Our past will no longer keep us hostage." Notice what the commission was called. Not the Reconciliation Commission. The Truth and Reconciliation Commission. Truth comes first. Always. What Archbishop Desmond Tutu and the TRC understood, and what we so often get backwards, is that healing actually does have an order. You cannot reconcile what you have not first actually named. You cannot repair what no one has acknowledged was broken. Skipping truth in the name of peace doesn't produce peace. It produces a ceasefire. Those are different things. The TRC also knew its limits. The commission's final report recommended prosecution in cases where amnesty was not sought or was denied. Reconciliation and accountability were held together, not traded against each other. That's the model. The Asymmetry of Reconciliation Here's something the Tutus make explicit that almost nobody else does: the person who was hurt and the person who caused harm have fundamentally different work to do in reconciliation. The path is not the same for both. For the person who was hurt: Your work is the Fourfold Path: telling the story, naming the hurt, granting forgiveness, and then deciding whether to renew or release the relationship. You do not owe anyone reconciliation. Forgiveness is yours to give on your own timeline. Reconciliation requires the other person to show up. The Tutus: "Ask for what you need from the perpetrator in order to renew or release the relationship." That's your right. An apology. An explanation. A changed behavior. To never see them again. All of these are legitimate. For the person who caused harm— the Tutus' framework from Chapter 8 is equally clear: ADMIT the wrong. Witness the ANGUISH Don't argue, don't cross-examine, don't justify. Just listen to what your actions cost the other person… APOLOGIZE genuinely… When you apologize, you are restoring the dignity that you have violated, and acknowledging that the offense has happened. ASK for forgiveness… and honor whatever answer you receive. Make AMENDS or restitution wherever possible. This asymmetry matters because we almost never name it. We treat reconciliation as if both parties are equally responsible for making it happen. But if someone caused harm and hasn't done their work— hasn't admitted it, hasn't witnessed the anguish, hasn't asked for forgiveness— placing the burden of reconciliation equally on the wounded person is just another form of harm. What Gets in teh Way Why is our culture so bad at this? A few honest reasons: Cheap accountability. "I said sorry, what more do you want?" An apology that doesn't include witnessing the other person's pain, or making any effort toward repair, isn't accountability. It's a bid to end the discomfort of being the one who caused harm. Forced and premature reconciliation. Especially in families, churches, and workplaces (read: systems with power dynamics!) pressure to reconcile before the wounded person is ready, or before the person who caused harm has done their work, is coercion masked as grace. No shared vocabulary or ritual. This is a distinctly American problem. We have almost no cultural practices around genuine repair. We have legal settlements. We have awkward apologies. We don't have a process. The Tutus give us one. Most of us were never taught it. The fear that accountability and restoration can't coexist. They can. The TRC proved it — imperfectly, controversially, but really. Truth and healing are not enemies. They need each other. Sometimes, Reconciliation isn't Possible or Appropriate. Some people may be carrying experiences of abuse, violence, or sustained harm Some relationships should not be restored. The Tutus themselves say the preference is always to renew… unless there is a question of safety. Safety is not a small caveat. It is the first question. Releasing a relationship— choosing not to restore it— is not a failure of forgiveness. It is sometimes the most brave thing a person can do. You can forgive someone and never speak to them again… it's totally not a contradiction. Reconciliation requires two willing, honest, accountable people. If only one person is doing the work, what you have is not reconciliation. It's one person carrying everything alone… again. The Reconciliation Map Here's a practice to take into this week... Think of a relationship in your life where there has been harm… either harm done to you, or harm you caused. Ask yourself honestly: Where are we actually in this process? Has the story been told — honestly, out loud, to someone? Has the hurt been named — the feelings underneath the facts? Has forgiveness been granted — or is it still in process? Has there been any movement toward renewing or releasing the relationship? You don't have to be further along than you are. This isn't a checklist for shame. It's just a snapshot, and an honest look at where you actually stand, so you can take the next step that's actually yours to take. Wrap-up Next week is our last week together in this series. We're going to flip the question one final time and ask: what does it mean to be forgivable? What's my role in the harm I've caused — and what does it look like to become someone who can be forgiven? This is hard, slow, important work. You're doing it!

Quiet a busy mind and gently release the day with this guided sleep meditation for overthinking. In Day 1 of this seven-day sleep meditation series, you'll begin with the emotional theme of release. Through a calming river visualization, you'll practice noticing thoughts without becoming caught in them, allowing worries, unfinished tasks, and mental tension to drift away. This soothing bedtime meditation also explores the ancient yogic principle of aparigraha, or non-grasping, along with the idea that clarity can emerge when we stop trying to solve everything at once. You do not need to finish every thought tonight. Let this meditation help you slow down, soften your grip on the day, and prepare your body and mind for peaceful rest. Tonight's reflection question: What thought, responsibility, or unanswered question am I willing to set down for tonight? Daily Message for Your Heart: "You do not have to carry every thought to its conclusion tonight. You do not have to solve tomorrow before it arrives, replay what has already happened, or hold yourself responsible for every possible outcome. Some things become clearer when you stop reaching for an answer. Some feelings soften when you give them space. And some burdens become lighter when you allow yourself to set them down, even temporarily. Releasing does not mean that you no longer care. It means you trust yourself enough to pause. You can return to what matters tomorrow with a rested mind, a steadier body, and a more open heart. For tonight, let unfinished things remain unfinished." This is day 1 of a 7-day meditation series, 3521-3527 SLEEP MEDITATIONS TO STOP OVERTHINKING. THIS WEEK'S MEDITATION JOURNEY A Seven-Day Journey into Rest, Release, and Inner Calm When the day grows quiet, the mind can become surprisingly loud. This seven-day guided sleep meditation series is designed to help you gently step out of repetitive thinking, release the mental weight of the day, and create a more peaceful transition into sleep. Each evening introduces a different calming practice, including visualization, affirmations, slow breathing, mudra, chakra meditation, layered relaxation, and a Yoga Nidra–inspired weekly review. Together, these practices guide you through a soothing emotional journey: Release. Rest. Ground. Protect. Nurture. Balance. Embody. Throughout the series, you'll explore a blend of modern mindfulness, gentle nervous-system support, ancient yogic wisdom, reflective storytelling, and compassionate encouragement. This is not about forcing your mind to become blank or making sleep happen on command. It is about changing the way you relate to your thoughts—learning to notice them without following every one, softening the urge to solve everything at night, and allowing your body to remember how to rest. Over the course of the week, you'll be invited to: Release unfinished thoughts and worries Give yourself permission to rest Ground your awareness in the breath and body Create a sense of emotional safety at bedtime Meet overthinking with compassion instead of criticism Bring multiple calming practices together Reflect on what helps you feel most peaceful and supported Each episode also includes a daily reflection question and a supportive Message for Your Heart to help you carry the practice beyond the meditation. You do not need to finish every thought tonight. You do not need to solve tomorrow before it arrives. Let this series become a gentle evening ritual—a place to set down the day, quiet the mind, and return to yourself. Press play, settle into a comfortable position, and begin your seven-day journey toward deeper rest and a calmer relationship with your thoughts.
