When feeling, speaking, And fulfilling my needs, I won't make demands, But leave others free. ☉Join me Sunday to Unpack the Great Saturn/Neptune Conjunction webinar! bit.ly/43XGmfl Yup! There's a lot to unpack with this new Moon conjunct Jupiter in square to the Saturn/Neptune conjunction! As I discuss in this report, collectively and personally we are on a threshold but this threshold may be likened more to a toll booth! Before we can fully benefit from the liberating and expansive gifts of Jupiter we need to "pay our karmic debts" to rightfully close the old cycle. We can't pass through the toll booth without paying some dues (or getting a ticket). Therefore, what is also involved is rising above victim consciousness where we may think/feel that the debts we have to pay are unjustified, out of proportion, or some kind of punishment being laid on us by outside forces/people/institutions. The new Moon sets the tone for the month and it is one of deeply feeling our feelings, fears, and emotional needs for security. When in our "child mode" we can easily slip into "It's your fault," "Could you pay for me?" or "I'm not big enough, strong enough, old enough, or rich enough to pay up." So, we're all needing to grow up, take full responsibility for what we have done and what we have failed to do. This will of course vary from person to person depending on past choices ranging from a few little problems that need to be dealt with to huge major life crises that can feel overwhelming. I think step one is the mantra, of taking responsibility for ourselves and our reality and expecting/demanding other people to take care of us. Step two then, is, of course, to straighten out any past booboos (without being too hard on ourselves). Looking at your personal chart will help you identify in what areas of life experience you have some cleanup to do (Saturn/Neptune) in order to go forward with joy, creative expression, and inner peace (Sun/Moon/Jupiter). May we all make peace with ourselves, each other, and the world as we move closer to truth and liberation! This week's song is Homeward Bound! https://youtu.be/gGZLELC9RCs?si=GhszChZhE2vWn0xQSo Much Love,Kaypacha

Despite spending billions of dollars to combat homelessness, California has the largest and fastest-growing homeless population in the United States. To explain this result, some have blamed wasteful collusion between government and nonprofits to enrich themselves without ever intending to end homelessness. However, Carrie Sager says this over-simplistic conspiracy not only ignores the very real problems in the government and nonprofit sectors, but actively sabotages efforts to resolve them. Carrie Sager is the chief operating officer of Homeward Bound of Marin, the primary provider of emergency shelter and one of the largest providers of permanent supportive housing in Marin County. In her previous role as senior homelessness program coordinator for Marin County Health and Human Services, she worked with local nonprofits and city and county governments to create a coordinated system of care to house the most vulnerable people experiencing homelessness in Marin. She is one of the chief architects of Marin's homeless system of care. Prior to working in Marin, Carrie worked for HomeBase, a nonprofit law firm that works with cities and counties to implement responses to homelessness, where she worked primarily in Solano and Sacramento Counties. She has a J.D. from American University Washington College of Law. Organizer: Patrick O'Reilly A Psychology Member-led Forum program. “This machine kills narcissists. Shoutout to Woody Guthrie! Sorry for missing the love notes on Friday; I'm not a machine. In this episode, we talk about Aries Season and the need to listen to what is not being said. It's a different way to analyze your situation. If they are not expressing it in the common way, why? There's meaning and clues from the subconscious mind within everything we say and do. Listen deeper to feel the actual message. What lies below the surface of that offhand statement? Anyway, then we discuss situations by zodiac. They are situationships for a reason. After that, I try something new: talking cards. I let two decks talk to one another. It's interesting, and I'll be doing it again—I just need a little more practice with that method. Of course, this all makes sense in the end with the Homeward Traveler card from the Oracle of Hidden Worlds deck. Home free! What a good feeling! If you're feeling trapped, know that this is not your home; it's only a stop along your way to your rightful home. Keep moving on, and you'll find that place that brings you peace. And remember, this land was made for you and me! Happy Birthday to all my listeners with birthdays this season!” I'll be back next week!!! Missed you all! Want a tarot reading on the show? Award-winning reporter Kevin Fagan is one of San Francisco's great treasures. In his much acclaimed new book, The Lost and Found, Fagan tells his his two-decade experience reporting about homelessness in San Francisco. He shares the stories of Tyson and Rita, two homeless individuals who he helped reconnect with their families. Tyson, despite having a supportive family, died of a fentanyl overdose, while Rita was rescued by her family and lived 20 more fulfilling years. Fagan, who experienced housing insecurity as a teenager, explains that homelessness stems from systemic poverty issues rather than personal failings. He notes that despite San Francisco's reputation as America's “homeless central”, 70% of its homeless population lost their homes while already living there. Here are the 5 KEEN ON AMERICA takeaways from our conversation with Fagan:* Personal connection to homelessness shapes Fagan's perspective - his own experience with housing insecurity as a youth gives him unique insight and empathy toward homeless individuals.* Homelessness is not simply a choice - Fagan emphasizes that "no one wants to be homeless" and many fall into homelessness through a combination of trauma, mental illness, addiction, and economic factors.* Family intervention can be transformative - Rita's story demonstrates how family reconnection (which inspired San Francisco's "Homeward Bound" program) can successfully help people exit homelessness.* San Francisco's homeless reputation is somewhat misunderstood - despite being known as "Homeless Central," about 70% of San Francisco's homeless population became homeless while already living in the city.* Solutions require addressing systemic poverty - Fagan argues that homelessness is fundamentally a poverty problem in America, requiring broader economic solutions beyond what individual cities can accomplish alone.Kevin Fagan is a longtime, award-winning reporter at the San Francisco Chronicle, specializing in homelessness, enterprise news-feature writing, breaking news and crime. He has ridden with the rails with modern-day hobos, witnessed seven prison executions, written extensively about serial killers including the Unabomber, Doodler and Zodiac, and covered disasters ranging from the Sept. 11 terror attacks at Ground Zero to California's devastating wildfires. Homelessness remains a core focus of his, close to his heart as a journalist who cares passionately about the human condition. Are women the key to solving the climate crisis? Why are they - and children - so disproportionately affected by the issue? And how can men step up to support change? To mark International Women's Day, Christiana Figueres is joined by top climate scientist Dr Katharine Hayhoe. As well as being Distinguished Professor and Endowed Chair at Texas Tech University, Katharine is an influential voice in communicating science at the ‘kitchen table' level. She and Christiana reflect on the barriers women face in STEM roles, Katharine's work with Science Moms highlights the impact of the crisis on children and the power of women in conversations about the climate. Women make up just over a third of STEM professionals in the United States and only a quarter of earth science professors globally. In an era where diversity, equity and inclusion initiatives are being rolled back by President Donald Trump's government, there's never been a more urgent need for diverse voices in science. Leading data scientist Hannah Ritchie asks how we communicate in this new landscape. Plus, Katharine shares how her Evangelical Christian faith fuels—rather than conflicts with—her climate work, as she and Christiana they celebrate how love can be the driving force for all genders to unite for climate justice. Together with Christiana, co-hosts Tom Rivett-Carnac and Paul Dickinson reflect on why diverse perspectives lead to better solutions and ask how men can support greater gender equality in STEM. Throughout, we hear from incredible women worldwide with inspiring messages for International Women's Day. From Pat Mitchell and her work on Project Dandelion to Natalie Isaacs of 1 Million Women - plus a rallying cry from Fabian Dattner of Homeward Bound. Learn more

Sarah is the CEO of Homeward Bound - and fresh back from Antarctica. Homeward Bound believe that supporting women in STEMM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Maths and Medicine), using the Life Styles Inventory, to significantly improve their clarity, confidence, shared vision and strategic capability, will enhance their opportunity to take up leadership roles globally, and to proactively contribute to a sustainable world, both individually and collectively. “The LSI process involves reflection, self-awareness, and growth because leading isn't just about directing others; it's about understanding who you are and how you can transform your environment from the inside out,” says Paola Jaén, #HB9 scholarship recipient. The day we recorded this podcast was a pivotal day in the State of Israel. After 471 days in captivity, the first Israeli hostages were finally released from the dungeons of Gaza - and Emily, Doron, and Romi were finally on their way home. With the freedom of our hostages, and the simultaneous release of countless terrorists, it was an emotional day, to say the least. There was little we could do but play songs about 'home', amidst tears and smiles over the powerful images we were watching on TV. With wishes for more good news, we present to you an hour of music that part prayer, part celebration. Episode #301: “I want to invite everybody to see the Karen people not just as victims, but to experience the real beauty in the culture, the uniqueness, the simplicity.” These are the words of Saw Sha Kerpaw Wah, a humanitarian from Karen State, Myanmar, who shares his story of displacement, identity, and commitment to his people. Born in 1995 during the fall of Manerplaw, the headquarters of the Karen National Union, his family fled through the jungle, marking the start of their journey as refugees. Sha Kerpaw Wah spent his early childhood in a refugee camp in Thailand, before his family resettled in Norway. There they found safety, but engendered a sense of cultural dissonance. Although warmly welcomed in Norway, and living there for 20 years, Wah always felt a deep spiritual connection to Kawthoolei, the Karen homeland, feeling that it was his "duty" to return and serve his people.A major turning point in Wah's life came during his final year of college when he watched a video of Karen indigenous leader, Saw O Moo, inspiring him to leave his studies and fully dedicate himself to humanitarian work. He began making frequent trips back to Kawthoolei, working to support those displaced by Myanmar's ongoing civil war.Today, Sha Kerpaw Wah continues to serve the Karen people, advocating for education, self-reliance, and a united leadership among Karen leaders. His ultimate dream is to see a peaceful, independent Kawthoolei where future generations can grow up free from the violence and trauma that have shaped his life.

John welcomes Linda Woolverton (Beauty and the Beast, The Lion King, Homeward Bound) to talk about her experience writing animated features, from the parallel processes of writing and production to her paltry paycheck for Beauty and the Beast. They consider the blurring lines between live-action and hyperrealistic CGI, as well as the history of animation writers' exclusion from the WGA. We also answer listener questions about whether there is such a thing as a bad character want and how to manage story days within a screenplay, which prompts exploration of wardrobe changes, thinking in terms of color rather than time and Linda's penchant for naked characters. In our bonus segment for premium members, John and Drew look back on their goals for 2024 and discuss how to make New Year's resolutions you'll actually accomplish.
