The Annual Lake Windamere Trip! This podcast was all about our big trip to the iconic Windamere Dam. A special place on the calendar for spring each year and it was great to get back to this system and hook into some yellas. This year was very different with a completely new lake as levels have risen to 88% (and still rising). This has changed the entire landscape and layout of the lake; we have new challenges of locating fish and trying to effectively fish the flooded edges and vegetation. In this podcast we give you a complete run down on our trip, how it unfolded, how we managed to catch fish in tough conditions, plenty of stories (and funny bits), the content we created and our opinions on what Windamere will be like going forward. Even if you don't plan on fishing Windamere, but you do love chasing yellas, this is a podcast you want to listen to! For our Trip Report, Recap Video and Technique Videos from Windamere click here. Welcome to the Cod Opening Special podcast episode for 2021! I can't believe cod open is only a week away and to get everyone pumped I thought it would be great to dedicate this episode to the newly opening season ahead of us. For this special edition I'm joined by three legends in the freshwater fishing world, Dan Webber, Jack Hocking and Jakko Davis. These three blokes have an incredible wealth of knowledge and have caught crazy numbers of big cod. I was lucky enough to tee them up for a quick chat each to include in this episode, and with each I discuss their plans for the season opener. Enjoy the latest episode and good luck for cod opening! Lake Windamere is definitely the home of oversized yellowbelly and today’s guest Josh Kopp has put in plenty of hours and fished plenty of tournaments targeting this species on “Windy”. As the water starts to warm and the yellas come on the chew, Josh shares some tips and advice to help anyone headed for Lake Windamere to get connected with quality yellowbelly. https://doclures.com/windamere-yellowbelly-josh-kopp/
Welcome to our Windamere Podcast 2.0! Last year we recorded an episode on the banks of Windamere Dam with Maso, Muz, Mitchy and myself… and this year we are BACK! The response to last years episode was huge so we thought we would give it another crack. This year we welcome Deano and the legend himself, Glen ‘Stewie' Stewart. This man has been around the fishing world for an exceptionally long time and has more knowledge than the rest of us combined. This was a great chat between a bunch of keen anglers as we talked all about the trip, what we had experienced so far and things we learnt over the few days. Towards the back end of the podcast we talk about more general topics, big cod and Glen shares some wise words on his experiences. As always, it's a casual chat with a bit of comedy and fun right the way through. Enjoy this episode!
Spring is here and I was lucky enough to sit down an interview a Golden perch legend, Josh Kopp. This is another cracker episode where Josh shares his approach for targeting Goldens in the early stages of spring, with reference two our two premiere dams, Windamere and Burrendong. Josh shares an incredible amount in this episode with plenty you can take away and add to your fishing. The Golden Perch are starting to fire and there is no better time to jump in the car, hit the road and play this episode of The Social Fishing Podcast!
Lake Windamere in NSW is this weeks destination.
Lake Windamere has a reputation as a quality yellowbelly fishing destination and while many people are familiar with the vertical fishing technique using black grubs today’s guest has other ideas! Shane Banks is a yellowbelly tournament angler who has worked hard at perfecting yellowbelly on blades. In this episode Mitch Condell, Mason Gilfillan and Murray Stewart wit down with me on the Saturday night after a weekend session at Lake Windamere. We talked about what we expected before arriving, the techniques we used and what we caught. The trial and error to figure out how the fish were behaving and plenty of great stories and banter. The trip to Lake Windamere was incredible and I really enjoyed sitting down and recording this episode with some good mates. If your heading to Lake Windamere, this episode will be sure to help you out, enjoy!
This is a very special episode of The Social Fishing Podcast as I was lucky enough to interview Steve Starling, one of the Australian great anglers, freelance writers and presenters in our industry. Steve has written thousands of articles, and spent his entire life surrounded by fishing. In this episode I talk to Steve about how fishing started for him, his very first catch and how he started writing. Steve then shares a few tips for young anglers wishing to get into writing and making fishing their full-time job. Then we jump into talking about freshwater fish, including Australian Bass, Golden Perch in Lake Windamere and the mighty Murray Cod!
First cast this episode of The Big Fish we are chasing the monster Golden Perch of Windamere with Luke Pearce.
Lake Windamere has a reputation among anglers for being a hotspot for oversized yellas. So who better to explain how to catch them than yellowbelly tournament champ "Diamond" Dave Welfare? In this episode Diamond Dave reveals his secrets from finding yellowbelly to gearing up. Dave walks us through his three top lure choices (lures that have won championships) and exactly how to use them in Windamere for top results. Check out Dave's show notes at https://doclures.com/windamere-yellowbelly-diamond-dave-welfare/
First cast this episode of the big fish comes from fly fisherwoman extraordinaire Jo Starling. As we have heard in previous episodes of TBF, when we caught up with "Casting for Recovery", fly fishing is THE best therapy after breast surgery. Jo is a breast cancer survivor and the special guest of the fishing event on Windamere, home of the giant Golden Perch or Yellow Belly. As you can see from this photo of Jo, the fish have changed colour for this big fishing competition fundraiser for the McGrath Breast Care Nurses.
Our first cast this episode of TBF comes from the hills behind Mudgee with some of the countries best anglers searching the crystal clear waters of Windamere to catch and release the giant Golden Perch that swim there. Luke Pearce has finished in the top ten before and has had some great sport during the pre fish this week for the Windamere Golden Classic. Jo Starling recounts her first crack at fly fishing for Australian Bass in beautiful Clarrie Hall Dam in Northern NSW and tells us about Gone Fishing Day at Jervis Bay. Stinker talks about the lighthouse keepers, their families and their fishing exploits and the cow that went to sea and Alex Bellisimo continues his fishing tour of Sydney's Northern Beaches, this week we visit Mona Vale Beach.
This week we come to you live from the www.loganwaldenart.com art show at the Windamere art gallery in Middletown, OH. We talk with featured artists Brian Beck, Chris McCall, and Logan Walden.
