Ryan joins us this week to head back to the pond for another episode of The Way Home. ABOUT: THE WAY HOME (SEASON 4 EPISODE 7) Some questions are answered for Elliot and Kat, while others linger. Meanwhile in the present, new choices arise for Alice as she evaluates her future. AIR DATE & NETWORK FOR: THE WAY HOME (SEASON 4 EPISODE 7) May 31, 2026 | Hallmark Channel CAST & CREW OF: THE WAY HOME (SEASON 4 EPISODE 7) Chyler Leigh as Kat Landry Evan Williams as Elliot Augustine Sadie Laflamme as Alice Dhawan Andie MacDowell as Del Landry BRAN'S THE WAY HOME (SEASON 4 EPISODE 7) SYNOPSIS The episode starts with a flashback to where KC and Sam met for the first time. KC walks up to Sam playing chess, beats him very quickly, and tells him that they met in the future. They know Sam and Del. They ask him if he can help with some legal advice on how to save Del's farm. Sam picks up on the fact that they know both Del & Sam in the future and he takes that to mean that Del and him are together in the future. Cut to present day and KC finds Sam at the same chess table. Sam says so much for that future you promised me. And KC tells him just because you know your future doesn't mean you shouldn't fight for it. In the '20s Tessa is not happy. She tells Kat that she's messed up her entire operation. Elliot comes downstairs. He's finally woken up and Kat checks on him. Fern is in on it too. Kat tells Fern she doesn't have to go along with things. Elliot and Tessa take a walk down to the pond. He tries to hash things out and she's like I don't have time for this. You and Kat have ruined everything. People rely on me here. Elliot is like but why did you do it? She says she thought it was the right choice at the time. Sam and Del hang out and she thanks him for saving her in the corn field. I'm not sure how much this actually matters but Cliff and Fern kiss as Kat watches on. She goes to find Elliot down by the pond. Kat says it's time to go home, but Elliot decides to stay back at the last second. Kat ends up coming out in '79. Old Fern just says give the boy some time with his mom. Also, us Landry women are cursed in love. Alice sees KC again and is like I took your advice and deferred my acceptance. KC is like how'd you get that from what I said?! KC joins them all for dinner where Alice tells them she's not going to college. It doesn't go great. KC runs to the pond. Before jumping, they tell Alice they wanted to just have some fun before everything changed. Alice jumps into the pond hoping to follow but just ends up back in 1979. Or should I say almost 1980. And Griff is back. Alice watches as Colton and Del are still struggling with not starting a family yet. Alice then sees that her mom has shown up in another film reel, this time from a reel in 1974. Evelyn is like oh I know her. She's the white witch who saved me from drowning as a kid. Tessa comes in to ring in the new year. In the present day, a piano repair man comes to fix that stuck key. Jacob and Abby are spending a lot of time together and she's really digging him despite him talking a lot about dirt. Turns out there was a note on that key. It's the opening page from the Alice book that Tessa gave Fern. On the back is a letter from Cliff to Fern about how he loves her. Could Cliff be Colton's grandfather? Del remembers that she told Sam that she loved him when he found her in the corn field. Jacob and Abby kissssss! Then Del and Sam kissssss and they both say they love each other. Kat keeps trying to jump in the pond but the pond won't take her. She finds out that Elliot requested a sabbatical at work. Then she finds all of Elliot's newspaper clippings and she finds one that is a picture of Elliot in the '20s, called The Big Fish and going by Tom Buchanan. Why Joe Rogan Beat Late Night TVWhen I was a kid, hearing Johnny Carson's theme music meant it was time for bed. Today, nobody has to stay up for anything. And that one shift explains a huge part of why late night is fading and why your podcast has to work harder to earn attention.Conversation vs Promotional AppearancesIn the early years of Johnny Carson, the show was 90 minutes and they actually had conversations as apposed to the "tell me about your family vacation, and let's roll the clip" interviews we see on late night showsAppointment Viewing is DeadThe days of "must see tv" on Thursday night died with the VCR and DVR. I haven't watched live TV in years. So now the audience that is staying up to watch live is much older (somewhere between age 60-70), and is about HALF of the audience comparing it to the days wheh David Letterman get almost 7 million a night. The Celebrity Mystique is GoneI once stayed up to watch B.B. King on the tonight show. Why? Because I couldn't hear him on the radio. I was too young to go to a concert. If I did that today and wanted to see Joe Bonamassa I wouldn't need to wait to see him on TV. I could see him on his YouTube channel, or multiple interviews on podcasts.#1 in Late Night is a Big Fish in a Much Smaller PondKeep in mind that Steven Colbert being #1 in late night in 2026 is way different than being #1 in late night in 1993. Late-night TV revenue has reportedly fallen from about $400 million a year to $200 million a year—a 50% decline—while some shows that once drew 7–8 million nightly viewers now struggle to reach 3 million.YouTube Doesn't Pay the SameAccording to one report, YouTube pays one tenth of what a network ad spot would go for. When you audience is cut in half, you have less advertisers. When the advertisers you have are paying you 90% less and your expenses stay the same that is a problem.Keep Control of Your ContentRemember big companies with big payouts WANT CONTROL. Conan focused on owning his content and that resulted in a 150 million dollar payout.Only Amazing Content Will Stand OutIf you want podcast growth, you need to make sure you are doing as many of the following as possible.Make them:laughcrythinkgroanMake Sure The ContentEducatesEntertainsSaves the audience timeSaves them moneyMakes them FEEL somethingIf it's information you can get any place else, even better. We would love to hear from you. Send us your thoughts or suggestions. The Way Home just name-dropped "Some Like It Hot" and Eric is not letting it go. Nick called himself Spats. Episode OverviewIn this East Tennessee Fishing Report on The Articulate Fly, host Marvin Cash checks in with guide Ellis Ward for an early-summer conditions update focused on the Watauga River tailwater. After a dry spring that kept anglers grinding through tough conditions, a stretch of rain and rising water has Ellis bullish on what's ahead: bigger flows, off-color water, and the full slate of techniques that make East Tennessee tailwaters unique. He covers the current Watauga generation schedule (six days a week, five hours of afternoon generation), how that release window shapes a full-day float, and why the combination of streamers, dry fly fishing to rising trout, and mousing after dark makes summer his favorite time of year to be on the water. Ellis also discusses the browns that have been showing up even through the tough conditions — fish in the 24-inch range with a handful over two feet — and a striper in the 34–35 inch class that made it to the boat. The deeper thread of the conversation is mindset: Ellis draws a direct parallel between hunting big brown trout on streamers and musky fishing, emphasizing patience, sustained focus, team mechanics in the boat, and the discipline of forming good habits before a big fish shows. His approach to dry flies gets equal attention, with a nuanced breakdown of how he thinks about hackle, CDC, and the meniscus — treating dry flies as micro topwater rather than fixed imitations.Key TakeawaysHow the Watauga River's afternoon generation schedule structures a productive full-day float that can include streamers, dry fly fishing to risers, and mousing after dark. Why approaching big brown trout on streamers through the lens of musky fishing — managing expectations, maintaining focus, and working as a team — produces fish that pure numbers-chasing won't.How to distinguish the post-spawn streamer fishery (low-feedback, high-consequence encounters with giant fish) from the early-summer streamer bite when 20 or more fish in the boat per day becomes realistic. Why the visual feedback of rising trout makes dry fly fishing a productive mental reset within a streamer-focused float, keeping anglers sharp throughout the day.How to think about dry fly construction in terms of water contact — CDC touch points versus hackle touch points, emerger versus floating presentations — rather than vise aesthetics. When moon selection matters for night mousing on tailwaters and why the hook set on a mousing fish is a fundamentally different skill than a streamer or dry fly hook set.Techniques & Gear CoveredThis episode covers a multi-technique summer tailwater program built around the Watauga River generation schedule. Ellis describes the float structure in detail: streamer fishing for the first several hours, pausing for risers whenever the dry fly opportunity presents itself, then transitioning to mousing as light fades — a full-day arc that demands different focus and mechanics at each stage. On streamers, Ellis fishes seven-weight setups with smaller trout flies rather than musky-scale patterns, emphasizing presentation discipline (getting the fly three inches from the bank when necessary), sustained team focus, and strip-set timing over fly size or flash. His dry fly breakdown centers on how materials actually sit on the water: he favors CDC for its hundreds of micro touch points holding the fly at the meniscus, contrasting it with the louder, fewer contact points of rooster hackle, and notes that many flies riding low in the surface are effectively fishing as emergers regardless of how they look in the vise. Mousing is treated as a patience game similar to streamer fishing, with moon phase factoring into session planning and requiring a hook set distinct from both streamers and dry flies. Ellis also notes bucktail availability through his website, elliswardflies.com, as musky conditions improve with returning rain.Locations & SpeciesThe primary fishery discussed is the Watauga River tailwater in East Tennessee, based out of Johnson City. Ellis also guides on the South Holston River, referenced briefly in the context of his broader East Tennessee tailwater program. Both systems are classic Tennessee tailwaters — dam-controlled flows with temperature-stabilized water that supports year-round trout fishing distinct from freestone or western tailwater fisheries. The main target species are brown trout, with multiple fish in the 24-inch range mentioned and a handful over two feet even through a difficult low-water spring. The episode also notes a 34–35 inch striper landed a couple weeks prior. Ellis mentions returning to musky fishing once water conditions improve following recent rain — a species he has been sidelined from during the spawn and low-water period. The early-summer window discussed (late May through July) is framed as some of the most consistent streamer action of the year, with the post-spawn bite giving way to days where 20 or more fish in the boat on streamers is achievable.FAQ / Key Questions AnsweredHow does the Watauga River generation schedule affect how you structure a full day of guided fishing?Ellis builds the float around the generation window: five hours of afternoon generation, six days a week. This gives the boat several hours of fishable water in the morning before generation kicks in, a streamer window as levels rise and off-color water comes through, and then the opportunity to stay on the water into darkness for mousing as levels drop back out. The generation schedule effectively writes the day's agenda, and Ellis treats each phase as a distinct technique opportunity rather than fighting the releases. How is hunting big brown trout on streamers similar to musky fishing, and why does that mindset matter?Ellis draws a direct parallel: big browns on streamers require the same patience, sustained focus, and expectation management that musky fishing demands. Unlike an indicator rig where the feedback is constant, streamer fishing can go hours between meaningful encounters, and the moment your concentration lapses is typically when a fish shows. He treats large browns the way he would treat a musky — working the boat as a team, identifying specific water to target, maintaining good habits throughout the day rather than only when a fish is behind the fly. What is the difference between the post-spawn streamer bite and the early-summer streamer bite in East Tennessee?Post-spawn (January–February) is a low-feedback, high-consequence game: you may go four or five hours without a follow, but the fish you do see could be jaw-dropping in size, and its appearance has nothing to do with the overall bite. Early summer shifts that dynamic significantly — fish are active, untargeted, and on a good day Ellis is putting 20 or more in the boat on streamers, with the realistic chance that a 26 or 27-inch brown shows up in a session where you've already seen a lot of fish. The two windows require similar discipline but very different expectation-setting.How does Ellis think about dry fly construction for tailwater fishing?Rather than tying for appearance in the vise, Ellis focuses on how each material interacts with the surface. He favors CDC for its density of micro touch points — potentially hundreds or thousands of tiny fibers holding the fly at the meniscus — compared to the louder but fewer contact points of rooster hackle. He notes that many "dry flies" are functionally fishing as emergers, sitting partly in the surface film, and that understanding where the fly actually sits (and what happens when you skate or move it) is more valuable than visual realism at the vise. He treats dry flies as micro topwater, with the same attention to presentation and action he applies to streamers. When does mousing become a priority in Ellis's summer guiding program, and what makes it different from streamer fishing?Ellis starts mousing as water drops and light fades at the end of a float, and he selects sessions in part around moon phase, particularly when dedicating a multi-hour block to it. The technique shares streamer fishing's grind-and-patience arc — long stretches without action punctuated by high-consequence eats — but the hook set is fundamentally different and requires practice to execute correctly. He describes August and September as the window when he becomes "chirpier" about mousing specifically, though the summer program already incorporates mousing as the third act of a streamer-and-dry-fly day.Related ContentS7, Ep 14: The Streamer Playbook: Tips and Tactics for Targeting Big Trout in East Tennessee with Ellis WardS7, Ep 32: Swim Flies and Trout Tactics: An East Tennessee Fishing Report with Ellis WardS7, Ep 45: Navigating the Waters: Streamers and Strategies in East Tennessee with Ellis WardS6, Ep 98: Navigating Late Summer Waters and Mousing Tactics with Ellis...

Most career advice is a lie. In this raw solo episode of the BRAVE Southeast Asia Tech Podcast, Jeremy Au breaks down why self-help advice from successful business leaders is often self-serving, and what young founders, operators, and professionals across Singapore, Indonesia, Vietnam, Philippines, Thailand, and Malaysia should actually pay attention to. Jeremy shares the hard-won lessons that schools and LinkedIn influencers will not teach you: the brutal tradeoffs hidden behind every "I wake up at 5am" story, why you must own your power without shame, and the dangerous trap of choosing your career outside-in instead of inside-out. He opens up about why he walked away from Bain & Company after two years and felt like a loser, only to learn a decade later that even the partners who "made it" wished they had taken the exit. You will also hear why being a small fish in a big pond is not a failure (and being a big fish in a small pond is not the goal), why sacrificing your health for your career is the dumbest tradeoff a young professional can make, and how choosing your own pain is the secret to a sustainable career. A quick note before this one: this episode was originally recorded as the April podcast for Autism Acceptance Month, but due to an upload error, it's now landing in May. So if you hear Nic and Kate referring to “this month”, that's why. They also kick things off with a reminder that their live show is happening this Thursday, 21st May at Gosforth Civic Theatre, where you can see them in the flesh! This episode tackles the growing conversations around overdiagnosis, “profound autism” and whether the spectrum has become “too wide.” Kate and Nic unpack why these debates can feel so exhausting for the neurodivergent community and why dividing autistic people into smaller and smaller categories helps systems far more than it helps actual people. At the heart of this episode is a simple message: autistic people are not boxes. They're people.
What started as a normal Friday episode quickly turned into one of the most emotionally unstable shows we've had in a while. Honestly, nobody was prepared for how hard the “saddest movie deaths ever” conversation was going to hit. One minute we're joking around about Pointfest and celebrity gossip… the next minute half the room is emotionally compromised over Artax from The NeverEnding Story slowly sinking into the Swamp of Sadness while childhood memories collapse in real time. This episode of The Rizzuto Show goes deep into the emotional destruction caused by movies like The Lion King, Big Fish, My Girl, The Green Mile, Logan, Forrest Gump, Titanic, Harry Potter, Inside Out, Fox and the Hound, Steel Magnolias, All Dogs Go To Heaven, and about 400 others because apparently everyone on this show carries unresolved cinematic trauma.Moon gets surprisingly philosophical. Rafe gets aggressively emotional about animated foxes. Lern somehow manages to make everybody sad repeatedly. Scott contributes exactly the kind of unhinged movie takes you'd expect from Scott. Meanwhile Riz attempts to hold the entire thing together while the conversation spirals into increasingly depressing territory. And somehow — somehow — we pivot from emotional movie deaths directly into celebrity gossip and fried chicken.Because that's radio, baby.We break down the bizarre report that Michael Jackson allegedly ate KFC for nearly every meal of his life. Naturally, this leads to an aggressive debate over mashed potatoes, fast food quality decline, chicken sandwich wars, buffet nostalgia, and whether anyone should trust powdered potatoes emotionally or spiritually. The celebrity chaos doesn't stop there:Paul McCartney refuses selfies because he feels like a zoo animalBritney Spears may or may not have terrified an entire restaurant while holding a knifeTaylor Swift wedding rumors are getting more secretive than a CIA operationKorn is apparently sitting on 40 unreleased songsPink Floyd now has collectible coins because reality means nothing anymoreThis funny podcast somehow manages to combine emotional damage, celebrity nonsense, food debates, weird news, sarcastic humor, and total radio chaos into one gloriously ridiculous episode.
NSW fishing identities Jo and Steve Starling travel to South Australia to check it out some new fishing options and Jo has our first cast this episode of The Big Fish.
This week, we're chatting about the Tim Burton fantasy Big Fish! We talk about bummer b-plots (that really should have been more of the film), how Jessica Lange singlehandedly sells the romance, and how glad we are that this movie didn't star a de-aged Jack Nicholson (really). Produced by Andrew Ivimey as part of The From Superheroes Network Visitwww.FromSuperheroes.com for more podcasts, articles, video series, web comics, and more.
This week on The Big Fish a very positive story for our freshwater fishers, west of the Divide, with great news from the Blue Nose Cod recovery program.
It doesn't get much more exciting, in the estuary, than tossing a soft surface frog into the snag and getting smashed by a 50cm Mangrove Jack! That's what happened to Col Trenaman this week.
This week we’re talking about the potential for fishing and hunting guides to need guide licenses in Minnesota, and some of our big fish in this state! Darren Troseth from 3 Rivers Guide Service joins the show and we get his opinion on whether or not we should have guide licenses here. He also talks about a unique species he caught in the Minnesota River, a report from Pool 4 and more. Bret, Dan, and David start the show talking about Livescope and Bassmaster, the upcoming SJR500, and more. Joe Henry joins the show in the last segment, and things go off the rails. Under Construction: Renovating A Home, Redeeming An Industry
If you had to describe Big Fish in one word, what would it be? Roofing? Construction? How about people? For the first time, Erik's wife, Lindsay, joins us on the podcast, and the conversation goes way beyond business. We talk about what those early days of Big Fish really looked like, reflecting on its growth, raising four kids while the company was just getting off the ground, and what it meant to support a dream that wasn't always clear or easy. It's really a side of Big Fish's story we haven't really shared before. Lindsay opens up about trying to find her place, how marriage and business can blur together, her experience with addiction and recovery, and what that has looked like over the years. It's a reminder that behind every company logo is a family, real struggles, real growth, and a lot of grace. At the end of the day, you can't separate the business from the people behind it. This episode really shows that, and it's one that will stick with you Check The Big Fish Contracting Docuseries! Check it out on our YouTube channel! It's a full-blown Friday free-for-all on The Rizzuto Show as the crew dives headfirst into a triple-threat episode of chaos.Clownvis joins the show and talks about his viral interview with Maynard James Keenan — yes, that Maynard — and how he managed to get one of rock's most notoriously difficult interviewees to actually loosen up and laugh. The crew dives into comedy as connection, crying at work (turns out, most of us have), and the fine art of breaking emotional seals via TV shows like Lost and movies like Big Fish. It's vulnerable. It's weirdly wholesome. It's still unhinged. The legendary Bean Boozled “Good or Gross” challenge returns, and it's every bit as traumatic as you remember. Stink bug vs. toasted marshmallow. Booger vs. juicy pear. Burnt rubber vs. licorice. Somehow, against all statistical logic, the callers go on an absolute heater — five straight “good” beans — while the studio debates swallowing rules, floor beans, and whether anyone might actually jump out a window over a stink bug flavor. Concert tickets are on the line, dignity is not.And because no Friday is complete without spiraling into nonsense, the show also tackles:The rising trend of solo dining and solo concertsWhy driving a van becomes attractive after 25Whether Lent sacrifices actually last more than 48 hoursWhy people are specifically giving up Wendy's BaconatorsHow often you're “supposed” to replace your underwear (spoiler: nobody is following that timeline)And whether someone in the room might secretly have a “moss butt” situation brewingFrom pasta with Maynard to Fruit of the Loom formalwear to lawn seats at Five Finger Death Punch, this episode is a beautiful blend of gross-out games, accidental life advice, and the kind of spiraling tangents that somehow only make sense on a Friday.Follow The Rizzuto Show → https://linktr.ee/rizzshow for more from your favorite daily comedy show.Connect with The Rizzuto Show Comedy Podcast online → https://1057thepoint.com/RizzShow.Hear The Rizz Show daily on the radio at 105.7 The Point | Hubbard Radio in St. Louis, MO.Should You Change Your Underwear In Every 6 Months?“Most unhinged glow-up”: Unsurprisingly, Americans are obsessed with Fruit of the Loom's sweatpant suitSolo dining surges 52% as Americans embrace 'Me-Me-Me Economy' over shared mealsNC mom of three who vanished 24 years ago reveals why she ditched familyHopkins County woman charged after allegedly using “movie money” to post bondMan, two girls injured after suspected lightning strikes during Perth stormTwo charged with murder of Australian grandfather after 'mistaken identity' kidnappingBlock lays off nearly half its staff because of AI. Noob Spearo Podcast | Spearfishing Talk with Shrek and Turbo
Host Shrek opens the Noob Spearo podcast with a listener voice message from Matt sharing ear-care tips for divers (coconut oil drops before diving and periodic rinses with a 50/50 vinegar and alcohol mix). The episode then jumps into a last-day, post-trip recap of the Whitsundays Sail & Spear Trip, with Sam the Waterman explaining the context: sailing through the Whitsunday Islands to the outer Great Barrier Reef, hundreds of fish landed across the trip, multiple 20kg+ GTs caught on rod and line between spearfishing sessions, and notable catches like Red Throat and Spangled Emperor on luncheon meat, alongside strong crew bonding. In a roundtable-style debrief, guests and instructors share highlights, misses, and "frother" shoutouts: exhaustion from consecutive days of diving, stories of drift dives and tidal creek/lagoon systems, Spanish mackerel attempts using throw flashers and diver formations, bull sharks around the boat, and lessons on relaxing during deep dives (relax jaw, hands, feet; free-float the top 10m). Several divers celebrate first-time or milestone catches including yellow lip emperor, coral trout, Red Throat Emperor, Red Emperor, parrotfish, and multiple GTs landed early in the morning. The group emphasizes buddy diving, safety, instruction quality (notably Tim), and the unique Great Barrier Reef scenery. The episode closes with details on how to join future Sail & Spear charters via spearfishingcourses.com.au, plus a push to watch the video version on YouTube/Spotify and check out the revamped Noob Spearo YouTube channel with help from Sam the Waterman.
