Our guest today is Dave Kopp. Dave is the co-founder and President of the Arizona Citizens Defense League and the AzCDL Foundation. Dave is an East Coast transplant, a former computer programmer and a family man. Dave spends his time restoring and protecting the right to keep and bear arms through legislative lobbying. He is a strong voice protecting Arizonans against anti-rights groups and legislation that seek to limit our freedoms. 1) In political philosophy, the phrase “consent of the governed” refers to the idea that a government's legitimacy and moral right to use state power is justified and lawful only when consented to by the people or society over which that political power is exercised. Is our “consent” merely the vote we used to “hire” our Representatives? So, after they are in office they get to do whatever they want? 2) In AZ you head up two important organizations. Both the AzCDL and the Foundation. How are these two organizations similar and how are they different? 3) Does the AzCDL also have a Political Action arm? 4) Every year the AzCDL holds a Membership Meeting. Last year I was honored to help with the “digital” portion of the meeting by moderating a panel on Zoom. What are the plans this year? And do you have to be a member to attend?

Despite pricing himself a little low out of the gate, today, Daniel has a backlog of clients reaching out and credits a lot of his accelerated growth to the investments he made in GoogleAds early on and targeting his niche in Facebook Groups. Daniel shares the importance of a supportive advisor community as he continues to grow his firm and how he would have never started on this journey if he didn't know what was possible thanks to some of the original stories shared on #XYPNRadio. Dr. Katie Kopp joins me for a second time on the podcast, this time we tackle suicide and turning our mental health around. Won't lie, had a really tough week. Someone who holds a place in my heart took his life, I haven't felt this level of loss in a very long time, so very fortunate to have Dr. Kopp available to come on and have a chat. Opening things right up, Katie asked me when suicide first effected me. I have to say, two hours later and I feel really good about opening up, sharing my feelings on it and having her there to help me sift through things. Each of us have a had experience that we have a hard time getting around, opening up about these sticking points is clutch. If you're listening to yourself and you're not healing, then you need someone to help you out.  From the point of hopelessness, we talk about not being able to find a way out of our situation, life, and how suicide feels like the only option. How do we gain a footing here and pull ourselves back from the brink?  1) Take care of your personal hygiene and stay healthy. 2) Get a Veteran or 100 in YOUR LIFE! You are either helping or being helped, either way its a win-win for everyone. Everyone needs someone to call them out. This isn't a daily thing here, this is a check-in, get on in there. 3) Know yourself and seek self-improvement. Find out and understand what makes you who you are. Dive deep into what is bothering you, break it up into pieces and understand those little chunks. Stay in the zone of understanding it, gain full knowledge and understanding, move to the next chunk. 4) Don't get comfortable, our demons are waiting...keep your head on a swivel and keep moving! 5) Normalizing Trauma means that you have understanding of what makes you tick. Now its time to make it normal, this trauma is apart of you, your personality will always have elements of this trauma. Breaking the cycle of silence, opening up and getting sound advice from those you trust. 6) Build Compassion & Empathy for yourself, you've been through a lot, take credit for it. If it makes you sad then imagine how others feel, you showing that this too effects you, that is having compassion and empathy. This also helps others to normalize their trauma. A damn win-win again.   Everyone take it easy out there. Reach out to someone and have a meaningful conversation about life. Reach out to Dr. Kopp if you have questions or need guidance on getting plugged into a counselor, katiekopp@gmail.com. Any Veteran that would like to come on and have a chat on the show, email: hovpodcast7@yahoo.com. Let's get it done.   Stay safe and blessed! HOV©2021

Punkt. Klingt wenig??? “I'm a huge fan of progress, not perfection. Small steps lead to transformation more often than large steps.” David Kopp has not only experienced this personally as an effective approach to positive behavior change, but as former CEO of Healthline Media, he knows the scientific literature supports it as well. Kopp refers to the key factors in achieving wellness as MENDS: mindfulness, exercise, nature, diet, and sleep. “If you can create new routines around those things, it will really make a difference.” Because diet is such an important driver in many chronic conditions, Kopp says it deserves much more attention from the healthcare system, but knows that's an uphill battle. “You have to spend a lot of time to understand a patient's diet and nutrition, and our whole system is based on ‘you've got 11 minutes to spend with patients.' Check out this episode of Raise the Line as Kopp joins host Rishi Desai to discusses other structural impediments to better health, the evolving acceptance of plant-based diets, and the role passion and purpose can play in creating resilience to get challenging work done.

While they both feed similar goals – helping educators find what they need, share what they learn, build enthusiasm, and motivate talent – the two organizations operate under different rules and assumptions. In this week’s episode, Amrit interviews Tracy Kopp, owner and director of The Urban Alchemist, a holistic health clinic with a team of over fifteen expert health and wellness practitioners providing wellbeing solutions for their clients’ mind, body and soul. Tracy, with so much courage and vulnerability, has come to share her story. She has reached a point in her journey where sharing what she has learned for the benefit of others feels an important part of her healing process. Amrit and Tracy dive deep into an open and heartfelt conversation about the wounds that have been stuck in Tracy’s body and heart for so long, the healing process she is facing with amazing fortitude and the positive effects on her most loved ones. The ‘mother wound’ may be defined as a loss or a lack of mothering. This is typically a deficit in the mother-daughter relationships that is passed down through generations of women in patriarchal cultures, and it is a reflection on how we have experienced parenting and how we parent. In her early twenties, Tracy suffered from anxiety and depression. She looked to talk therapy for answers but couldn’t find her way out of feeling like a victim in her relationships. She blamed her mother for a great deal of her pain. Like many mother/daughter relationships, theirs was marked by emotional distance. Having never been shown how to manage her own feelings, Tracy’s mother had been unable to pass on this skill to her daughter. Tracy became a mother of a beautiful baby girl, Ivy, at just 21. Neither herself nor her partner had any idea of the responsibilities of parenthood. In Ivy’s early years, Tracy enjoyed motherhood and her child tremendously, but things began to get dark. She and her partner were constantly fighting. Ivy’s needs went unmet for long periods of time and when the family eventually broke down, Ivy suffered deep trauma as her parent’s feud escalated. As a single mother carrying most of the load of caring for her daughter, Tracy was consumed by her own difficulties. She lacked the skills to control her own feelings of rage and despair, and acted abusively toward her daughter much of the time. She knew this was harmful for her daughter, but the struggle with her own demons left little room for learning patience or grace. Over time, Tracy saw the impact this cycle was having on her daughter. She wondered if the damage done was so great that their relationship might never be repaired. With a great deal of shame and fear, she decided it was time to have a look at what was going on inside herself. By turning within and facing what was hard to see, she began to recognize the harmful patterns inherent in her parenting and slowly break them. Today Ivy and Tracy have reached a place of real care and love where there is true understanding of the other’s experience. “I feel that she forgives me in a really meaningful way because she has seen how deep I will dig for her.” Tracy knows that her story is not unique and feels that by speaking openly about her journey, she may help others recognise that they, too, can make amends when they’ve hurt someone close. Just before the pandemic shut down the world, I recorded a conversation with two friends from Jerusalem while I was leading a tour there, both pastors at the small congregation I attended when I was a student.  We dive into what life is like in Jerusalem for Christians, our thoughts and feelings about the ongoing tensions, what it's like to raise kids in such a complex environment and more.  Our conversation is completely unscripted and wide-ranging.  I hope you hear something fresh and interesting here as we discuss ideas and realities that tend to sharply divide the world in camps.  Thanks for being a part of this podcast, for sharing it, for making it happen.  Enjoy!
