In this episode, I talk about the neuroscience behind charisma, what makes someone magnetic, why it's more about connection than confidence and how to build it (no matter your personality type). Whether you're introverted, extroverted, or somewhere in between, charisma isn't about being the loudest in the room. It's about emotional attunement, presence and connection. I unpack the neuroscience behind why charismatic people light up our brains, the everyday habits that make you magnetic and how to lean into your own version of charisma. It's your personal sanctuary, your private concert stage, the place where all your most ingenious ideas and random thoughts pop into your head, and other things just pop out. It's the bathroom, also known as the restroom, lavatory, and, for you engineers out there, it's the cubical digestive elimination venue. But do you know that when it comes to what you're doing in there, you probably make some common sanitation mistakes? For example, you think you're washing your hands correctly? Well, besides the water temperature, the problem is, the average person doesn't spend enough time washing their hands. Or maybe you wash your face in the shower? Not the best option, too. By the way, where do you keep your towels? Right there in the bathroom? It's better to store them elsewhere (of course, unless you wanna rub fungus all over your body). It seems the labour party has not learned a thing about running a country. Their first policy for next years vote is out, so congrats on that. The first cab off the rank is a wealth fund. The idea is not necessarily a bad one. You take money from dividends and distribute it out about the place to create jobs. The obvious questions though …were not answered. How much does it cost? …don't know. What industries or entities or businesses are involved? …don't know. How many jobs will it create? …don't know. Who decides who gets what? …don't know. Those are the specific faults in what really is just a very broad brush sort of thought bubble. The more pressing issue economically comes in the form of a simple truth. And the simple truth is, given you haven't magicked up the money it has come from a business, lets say it's a power company, the company pays the government a dividend...that already happens...currently that dividend goes into the consolidated fund i.e. the government's coffers. That money pays bills, currently one of the biggest bills is the interest on our debt. That bill is getting close to 10 billion dollars a year. Now if you aren't using the dividend money to pay bills because you have siphoned it off to pay for your wealth fund, where is the money for the bills going to come from? At all points you only ever have a finite amount of money. If some of those dollars go one way, they cant go another. And unless you can explain how you cover the gap, you are merely prioritising one thing over another. Its like increasing the car payment, but doing it by paying less on the mortgage Which in this case brings in labours attitude to debt. Given they are the ones who dug our current debt hole, It looks like they still haven't worked out that it wasn't a very smart move. If they are to stand a chance next year, they will need to sharpen their policy act up considerably to something a lot better refined than some blue sky psycho babble. Talha Ibn Ubaydullah رضي الله عنه (S30) Talha رضي الله عنه during the reign of the 2 Grand Shaykhs رضي الله عنهم: Umar رضي الله عنه sees Talha رضي الله عنه visibly upset and asks: “Why do I now see you uncharacteristically unkempt after The Messenger's ﷺ passing? Is it because your cousin [Abu Bakr رضي الله عنه] has become the Khalif?”. Talha رضي الله عنه replies: “No. I of all the people would not feel this way!”. Talha رضي الله عنه explains what was bothering him was that The Messenger ﷺ said there is a word that if you recite when you are dying, your soul is removed easily, but Talha رضي الله عنه wasn't exactly sure what that word was. Umar رضي الله عنه said he knew what it was: La Ila Ha il Allah [سُبْحَانَهُ وتَعَالَى]. Talha رضي الله عنه says you have spoken the truth, it is now as if a huge burden has been lifted off my shoulders. A huge lesson can be learnt from Talha رضي الله عنه: Do not assume when it comes to Revelation. The words of The Messenger ﷺ are not to be taken lightly and one must implement what he learns… Such is our state! What is beloved to us, the Companions رضي الله عنهم didn't care about. What they loved, we treat as light…Talha رضي الله عنه was seen in a state of ‘spiritual depression' over Zhikr - we treat Zhikr as a minor thing. Our depression is exclusive to worldly affairs.

TAMMY KANAT Fibre Artist with Sidra Moshinsky Director and CEO of the Jewish Museum of Australia Well I know this next guest very well she's my talented sister and artist Tammy Kanat I've watched her dedicate herself to evolving her craft and blossoming into a fibre artist whose beautiful pieces adorn many homes including mine!Tammy is a Melbourne-based fibre artist whose practice is driven by curiosity, intuition, and a deep sense of experimentation. Her work unfolds as an evolving narrative, shaped by colour, movement, and emotion. Using custom hand-formed copper looms, including her signature circular frames, Kanat pushes beyond the traditional boundaries of tapestry, creating intricate compositions that move fluidly between geometric and organic forms. Her style is deeply contemplative, drawing from her internal world and guided by a rhythmic, meditative process.I'd also like to welcome Sidra Moshinsky Director and CEO of the Jewish Museum of Australia where Tammy's latest exhibition Circle of Her is featured.Deborah's Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/what.ive.learnt/Mind, Film and Publishing: https://www.mindfilmandpublishing.com/Apple Podcast: https://podcasts.apple.com/au/podcast/what-ive-learnt/id153556330Spotify: https://open.spotify.com/show/3TQjCspxcrSi4yw2YugxBkBuzzsprout: https://www.buzzsprout.com/1365850

Send us a textI launched my Mastermind a year ago after thinking about it for years. It's become one of the best decisions I've ever made for myself and my clients. In this episode, I'm sharing the biggest lessons from building a space that 14 brilliant business owners are in right now (and 19 have been apart of so far!)Here's what I've found matters most: • Create an experience worth staying in - it's worth the effort. Details, structure, and energetics shape a container that feels truly valuable. • Efficiency is VALUABLE. Rapid fire strategy conversations, themed calls, and streamlined processes respect your time and energy. If you're used to creating transformation one-hour call at a time - you'll want to listen to this! • Continuity is great for your clients AND you. The longer we work together, the deeper the trust, the stronger the results. More becomes possible. If you're ready for a place where strategy, energetics, and real support meet — the Mastermind could be exactly what you've been waiting for: alignandattract.com/mastermindThanks for listening. I've spent the past two years teaching trauma education in Ukraine - sometimes in classrooms, sometimes in basements, and once or twice with air raid sirens going off overhead. In this solo episode, I share what that's actually been like. I talk about what trauma education looks like in a country where it's not a luxury, but a lifeline. I've worked with therapists, teachers, soldiers, and volunteers, and I've learned a lot about what helps, what doesn't, and what most of the Western trauma world gets wrong. This is also a personal one. I talk honestly about burnout, about coming home shaken, about the women I've mentored who now lead some of the most important trauma trainings in Ukraine. I also share the small rituals and practices that helped me keep going, and why humour - even dark humour - saved me more than once. ----------------------------------------------- As a special gift for you, our loyal listeners, we are offering $200 off our flagship course, the Certificate of Embodiment Coaching when you use code: CECPOD More info here: https://embodimentunlimited.com/cec ----------------------------------------------- Check out our YouTube channel for more coaching tips and our Podcast channel for full episode videos Uplevel your coaching with a free copy of Mark's latest eBook, The Top 12 Embodiment Coaching Techniques Join Mark for those juicy in-person workshops and events Fancy some free coaching demo sessions with Mark? Hi! As I sit here reflecting on this past weekend - where I had the privilege of speaking at the “Start Your Own Business” summit in Brisbane—I’m feeling grateful and inspired. I met so many people, each at a different stage in their journey, and was reminded of something powerful: you don’t need to have it all figured out to make a difference in someone else’s life
Writer and journalist Daniel Nour on the pressures of his vivacious Egyptian-Australian family, and 'inviting people in' instead of 'coming out'.Daniel grew up in Sydney's Sutherland Shire, the only son of Egyptian migrants. He dearly loved his parents, who taught him how to stand up to bullies, drove him to Tournament of the Minds competitions, and helped him buy his first car, but he could never be his whole, true self around them. For most of his life, Daniel was in denial about being gay, despite his raging crushes on handsome film characters like cartoon Aladdin and the Scorpion King, played by Dwayne 'The Rock' Johnson. Daniel even very briefly contemplated life as a priest in order to escape the familial pressure to marry a woman and give his parents grandchildren. But after a confidence-boosting trip to Egypt, and then an embarrassing, dishonest appearance on national television, Daniel was finally honest with himself.Further informationHow to Dodge Flying Sandals and Other Advice for Life: An unreliable ethnic memoir is published by Simon and Schuster.Daniel is a member of Sweatshop Literacy Movement, you can keep up to date with his work at his website. This episode of Conversations was produced by Meggie Morris, executive producer is Nicola Harrison. It explores migrant stories, multiculturalism, coming out, Coptic Orthodoxy, protestant church, faith, religion, homosexuality, Arab-Australians, racism, first generation Australians, growing up in Sydney, Cairo, writing, books, family dynamics, body image, male body image, masculinity, gym culture, diet culture, memoir.Find out more about the Conversations Live National Tour on the ABC website.
Blending travel writing, history and reportage, our guest on this week's Colombia Calling podcast is award-winning journalist and author Shafik Meghji who tells a tale of footballers and pirates, nitrate kings and wool barons, polar explorers and cowboys, missionaries and radical MPs. From a ghost town in one of the world's driest deserts to a far-flung ranch in the sub-polar tundra; rusting whaling stations in the South Atlantic to an isolated railway built by convicts. '[An] appealing fusion of travelogue and history, excavating the roots and remnants of British influence in Argentina, Chile and Uruguay.' - The Observer ‘This is travel writing as much as history. Meghji has the true travel writer's eye for the comic, pathetic and tragic, and for the places where they collide. . . This is writing full of rust, wind and sadness. It captures splendidly the air of South America and the long, withdrawing roar of an empire whose influence once reached far beyond its political borders.' — The Times So tune in to hear our conversation with Shafik. https://www.shafikmeghji.com/ And, the Colombia Briefing is reported by Emily Hart https://substack.com/@ehart
