Mary also shares how Richard Weinfield, Executive Director & Educational Consultant, with Weinfield Education Group (WEG) has made advocacy accessible by providing no-cost, expert, special education advocacy to Black students with special needs whose education has been impacted by systemic racism with the SEE US program.

Join Winifred A. Winston with Janique Parrott-Gaffney as they discuss all things literacy and dyslexia. Janique is a former special educator who realized she wasn't properly equipped to teach her students how to read. She did a google search and found a program that trained her on structured literacy and later opened her specialized tutoring firm to help struggling readers.

Nikki discusses her journey advocating for her daughter in Maryland public schools and as well as in North Carolina. She shares how instrumental her daughter's self awareness was in her decision to leave the traditional public school system and decide to homeschool her daughter, more specifically join a Co-op.

Join Winifred A. Winston with Brittny Pierre as they talk about her journey of struggling in school. Her family thought she was lazy or not motivated to do well in school. When Brittny finally got the diagnosis of dyslexia, she felt relieved, but still didn't know what she was supposed to do with that diagnosis. It's still challenging when you don't know what dyslexia is or what strategies you need to win over dyslexia.

Join Winifred A. Winston and LeDerick Horne with Dr. Julie Washington as they talk about why Black parents should feel empowered to advocate and access resources for their children. Dr. Washington share's insights into assessments, cultural dialects, and why it's important to have a network of providers of Color, such as Black psychologist, neuropsychologist and school counselors.

Join Winifred A. Winston with Co-host LeDerick Horne as he shares his journey of winning over dyslexia when he entered community college after an early diagnosis. LeDerick shares how although he got an early diagnosis, it wasn't until someone explained to him what it meant to be dyslexic and provided academic supports and services, did he thrive and become a published spoken word poet, international learning disability advocate and motivational speaker.
