In this episode of A People's Climate, host Shilpi Chhotray sits down with Elizabeth Yeampierre, veteran organizer and executive director of UPROSE, Brooklyn's oldest Latino community-based organization, to explore how frontline communities are taking climate action into their own hands. In a capitalist world that prioritizes bigger, faster, and more, Elizabeth's work takes a different path. Small, hyper-local solutions like a community-owned solar grid have huge impacts. Residents of Brooklyn's Sunset Park, where UPROSE focuses its work, are seeing lower energy costs, good green jobs, and local ownership. All while creating a blueprint for other communities to follow.Elizabeth also takes us beyond the buzzwords of “green economy" and “clean energy” to show what a Just Transition really looks like. Mainstream environmental efforts often focus on the end goal: shifting to renewable energy. But they fail to ask “at what cost and to whom?” Elizabeth's work ensures community members aren't left behind. This episode is a masterclass in how grassroots power can transition us to a just future.Key TopicsA Just Transition: Shifting to renewable energy while protecting workers and communities historically harmed by pollutionThe community-led renewable energy Grid ProjectResisting extractive economies and reclaiming industrial spaces without displacement or gentrification. The importance of building an intergenerational movementHow Trump-era policies have dismantled climate protections and undermined renewable energy incentivesHow disaster capitalism exploits crises and how community-led responses offer real solutionsResourcesUPROSEThe GRID Sunset Park SolarA new solar project in Brooklyn could offer a model for climate justiceUS Spending On Climate Damage Nears $1 Trillion Per YearThe Shock Doctrine (Naomi Klein)Our Sponsors:* Check out Avocado Green Mattress: https://avocadogreenmattress.com* Check out BetterHelp: https://betterhelp.com/THENATIONAdvertising Inquiries: https://redcircle.com/brandsPrivacy & Opt-Out: https://redcircle.com/privacy

Relentless Health Value
EP493: Revelations Mainstream CEOs Are Having About the Healthcare Market Right Now—Also, Some Advice, With John Quinn

Relentless Health Value

Hello, all you great people trying to figure out how to do right by patients. Welcome to it. I was and am always extremely curious if any of what we talk about over here on Relentless Health Value has, in any way, percolated over to your average employer CEO—the ones who do not listen to this show, I mean. For a full transcript of this episode, click here. If you enjoy this podcast, be sure to subscribe to the free weekly newsletter to be a member of the Relentless Tribe. This is what I try to figure out during my conversation upcoming here with John Quinn from Wellnecity® today, and I score some advice to boot for employers in the face of any of these revelations that they may have. That's what's gonna go down today, and this whole endeavor is a decent plan, if I do say so myself, because John Quinn chats up a lot of employer CEOs. He's certainly got a bit of a catbird seat there. So, taking it from the top, I wanted to see how clued in these employer C-suites might be to a fundamental myth, which, if employer folks don't realize it is in fact a myth, it means that a whole lot of transformational power is going nowhere fast. And this myth is the mother of all myths: the "there is a market in healthcare" myth. We've been on a tear about this for three episodes now, at least as it relates to hospitals and health systems. I'm gonna refer everybody to LinkedIn because Luke Trocchio put up a, I don't know what you call it, a reel, highlighting something that Shane Cerone said in episode 490. And then I'm gonna tell you why whatever CEOs at self-insured employers are thinking here makes all the difference in the world. But what Shane said is this, "The myth is that we have a functioning marketplace, and we don't." Shane continues, "What I mean by [there is no actual healthcare market], as somebody who's been a CEO of multiple hospitals and health systems, hospitals don't compete on price for patients. It … doesn't work that way. And so, we don't really have a normal market incentive to reduce cost or, in this case, the price of services in order to remain competitive." Now look, and this isn't rocket science, but it needs to be said out loud. The reason there is no healthcare market largely is because self-insured employers have not insisted upon there being one. Is that fair? I don't know. And whether or not it's fair is irrelevant to this point. Self-insured employers pay for healthcare for, like, 160 million Americans. They are largely the demand curve. They are the demand side of any market that exists. Because you know something that doesn't our market make? You can't ask the supply side to create demand elasticity. You can't get a seller to get a buyer to buy or not buy at some price point. That would be like a comedy skit. Except in this case, you know, patients die or go bankrupt because they can't afford care. So, it's not really all that funny. But if in this country we are depending on health system prices being constrained by a market, and then you don't have a buyer who doesn't buy when the price is higher than the buyer wants to pay or a buyer who doesn't buy unsafe stuff or low-quality goods or services, you're gonna get sky-high prices. Welcome to it right now. Also, if there's no competition, again, no market. But competition a lot of times doesn't surface if there's no point in starting up a business because there's no demand for lower prices or higher-quality care. I mean, if no one cares if you have lower prices or higher quality, then how are you gonna attract patient volume or steal market share, right? Like, unless you're really good at marketing, I guess, or have accumulated market power. I'll say this again. If our whole, the whole healthcare sector pricing structure is built on the myth that there is a market and then there's no market and employers aren't filling for whatever reason, the vital demand side role that they have to play for there to be a market, then, right … hello, 37% renewals like we see coming up in New Jersey. Listen to the show with Kevin Lyons (EP487, Part 1). So, I say all this to say, do employer CEOs even know they have one job here? And I'm not talking about, again, whether or not this is fair, whether they're capable of pulling this off. I'm just distilling this whole thing down to this is the question that remains on the ground. So anyway, this is first and foremost what I go after John Quinn from Wellnecity to figure out today: Where's your average CEO in this learning curve? Now here's some demand curve optimism. The show from two weeks ago with Elizabeth Mitchell (EP491) from PBGH, the Purchaser Business Group on Health. In that show from a couple weeks ago, we talk about what PBGH members, who are very large employers, what they're up to. So, certainly go back and listen to that if you haven't. Okay, so with that, here's my conversation with John Quinn from Wellnecity, as I have mentioned; and you'll get two things out of this conversation. Number one, a level set on what employers' leadership teams are figuring out and why they are figuring this out. (Renewal shocks and employees complaining about affordability much?) But also how the mindset needs to shift in the C-suite for anything to really happen here. In other words, what's the assignment and what's some very top-line advice to get there? That's how I finish up the conversation with John Quinn today. Do just wanna note that Wellnecity so kindly offered to pick up some of the tab to produce this Relentless Health Value show, which, as I keep saying is … yeah, it is expensive to keep this train on the track. People often forget it's not just what goes into the recording, the hosting, the producing, the editing of a podcast, but there also is a whole Web site and an API feed and headshots and graphics and transcriptions and a proofreader. It's a whole thing, guys, even if the host is a volunteer with a day job. So, thanks much to Wellnecity for the contribution to the fund and for coming on the pod today. Our Research and Investment Management analysts Michael Cyprys and Denny Galindo discuss how and why cryptocurrencies are transitioning from niche speculation to portfolio staples. Read more insights from Morgan Stanley.----- Transcript -----Michael Cyprys: Welcome to Thoughts on the Market. I'm Mike Cyprys, Head of U.S. Brokers, Asset Managers and Exchanges for Morgan Stanley Research.Denny Galindo: And I'm Denny Galindo, Investment Strategist for Morgan Stanley Wealth Management.Michael Cyprys: Today we break down the forces making crypto more accessible and what this shift means for investors everywhere. It's Tuesday, November 11th at 10am in New York. We've seen cryptocurrencies move from the fringes of finance to being considered a legitimate part of mainstream asset allocation. Financial platforms, especially those serving institutional clients, are starting to integrate crypto more than ever.Denny, you've written extensively about the crypto market for some time now among your many jobs here at Morgan Stanley. So, from your perspective in wealth management, what are you hearing from retail clients about their growing interest in crypto?Denny Galindo: Yeah, we actually started writing about crypto back in 2017. We had our first explainer deck, and we started writing extensive educational reports in 2021. So, we've covered it for a while.Advisors who dabble in crypto typically had this one client. He asked a lot of questions about when they could do more. We also had some clients who were curious, maybe their neighbor made a lot of money, bought a new boat and they were like wondering, you know, what is this Bitcoin thing? Now, this year we've seen a sea change. I think it was the election really started it; the Genius Act, and some of the legislation also kind of added to it. Almost all this interest is really on Bitcoin only, although we also have gotten a decent amount of interest about stablecoins and how those might impact things. But it's really just the beginning and I think it's an area that's; it's not going to go away.Mike, on the institutional side, what trends are you seeing among asset managers and brokers in terms of crypto adoption integration?Michael Cyprys: So, we've seen a big move into the ETF space as large money managers make crypto easier to access for both retail and institutional investors. Now this comes on the back of the SEC approving the first spot Bitcoin and Ethereum ETFs back in 2024. And since then, we've seen firms from BlackRock to Fidelity, Franklin, Invesco, and many others, including crypto native firms having launched spot Bitcoin ETFs and spot Ethereum ETFs. And these steps in the minds of many investors have legitimized crypto as an investible asset class. Most recently, we've seen the SEC adopt generic ETF listing standards for crypto ETFs that can make it easier to accelerate ETF launches in reduced regulatory frictions. And today the crypto ETF space is about $200 billion of assets under management and saw inflows of over [$]40 billion last year, over [$]45 billion so far this year – despite some of the near-term volatility. And most of the asset class today is in Bitcoin, single token ETFs, with BlackRock and Fidelity managing the largest ETFs in the space.Speaking of products, what types of crypto are retail investors most curious about? And why do those particular ones make sense for their portfolios?Denny Galindo: Yeah, I think you hit the nail on the head. The most popular products are really the Bitcoin products. We as a firm allowed solicitation in Bitcoin ETPs more than a year ago in brokerage accounts. We just expanded them to allow them in Advisory in October. So, we're still early days here. There really hasn't been that much interest in the other crypto products. Now when people think about this, there's three buckets here. There are some people that think of it like digital gold. And they're worried about inflation. They're worried about government deficits. And that's kind of the angle that they're approaching crypto from. A second group think of it like a venture capital, like a disruptive innovation in tech that's going after this big addressable market. And, you know, hopefully the penetration will rise in the future. And then the third bucket is really thinking [of it] out it as a diversifier. So, they're saying, ‘Hey, this thing is volatile. It doesn't match stocks, bonds, other assets. And so, I kind of want to use it for diversification.'Now, Mike, when you have these discussions with institutional clients, how do they view the risk and potential of these different cryptocurrencies?Michael Cyprys: What's interesting with the crypto space is adoption started on the retail side with institutions now slowly beginning to explore allocations. And that's the opposite of what we've seen historically with institutions leaning in ahead of retail in areas, whether it's commodities or private markets. But it's still early days.On the institutional side, we're starting to see some pensions, endowments, foundations begin to make some small allocations to Bitcoin as a long-term inflation hedge. But keep in mind, institutions tend to make investments in the context of strategic asset allocations, often with a broader macro framework.Denny, you've written quite a bit about the four-year crypto cycle. Could you explain what that is and where you think we are in the current crypto cycle?Denny Galindo: Yeah, if you look at the data, you see a pretty clear trend of a four-year cycle. So, there's three up years and one down year, and it's been like clockwork, since Bitcoin was invented. Now when you see something like that, you always try to explain like: why is this happening? So, there's two kind of dominant explanations that we've seen. So, one's macro, one's micro. Now the macro version for crypto is really the M2 cycle. So, we see that M2 to that global M2 money supply has kind of accelerated and decelerated in four-year cycles, and Bitcoin tends to really match that cycle. It tends to accelerate when M2's accelerating and it tends to decline when it's decelerating or declining. But there's also this bottoms-up way of looking at it, and commodities are really the place we go to for that analysis. So, a lot of commodities, you know, could be coffee, could be oil – if something disrupts supply, you tend to get the shortage, you get the price moving up.Then you get commodity speculators piling in, adding leverage. And it'll just kind of go parabolic. At some point something pops the bubble, usually more supply, and then you get like a great depression. You get like an 80 percent draw down. All the leverage comes out and the whole thing crashes. So crypto has also followed that. Now, we break the four-year cycle into four seasons: spring, summer, fall, and winter. And each season has a different characteristic about which parts of the market work, which don't work, what things look like. We are in the fall season right now. And that tends to last about a year. We wrote a note last year on this. Fall is the time for harvest. So, it's the time you want to take your gains. But the debate is, you know, how long will this fall last? When will the next winter start? Or maybe this pattern won't even hold in the future. And so, this is the big debate in the crypto circles these days. And Mike, given the volatility, given the great depressions we talked about in Bitcoin with these, you know, 70-80 percent drawdowns, how do you see it fitting into institutional portfolios compared to other cryptocurrencies?Michael Cyprys: Compared to other cryptocurrencies, Bitcoin is still viewed as the flagship asset within the crypto space – just given higher adoption, greater liquidity, the sheer market value. It has longer history and better regulatory clarity as compared to other tokens. But given the volatility as you mentioned, and the early days nature of cryptocurrencies, adoption is still quite nascent amongst institutional investors. Some institutional investors view Bitcoin as digital gold or macro hedge against inflation and monetary debasement. It's also sometimes viewed as a low correlation diversifier within multi-asset portfolios. But even that's also been a debate in the marketplace too.As we look forward from here, crypto adoption within institutional portfolios could potentially expand as regulatory clarity establishes a clear framework for digital assets, right? We had the Genius Act recently that focused on stablecoins. Next up is market structure. There's a bill working its way through Congress. We've also had developments on the ETF side that lower[s] barriers for institutions to gain exposure there. Not only is it more accessible within traditional portfolios, but the ETF fits nicely into day-to-day workflow. So, bottom line is institutional views on Bitcoin and crypto are evolving, and how firms view Bitcoin – we think will depend upon the institution's objectives, their risk tolerance and portfolio context. And keep in mind that institutional allocations don't turn on a dime. They tend to be slower moving.Denny, do retail clients take a similar approach or are they more likely to take bigger bets?Denny Galindo: Our clients struggle with this question. And so, we get a lot of questions like, ‘Okay, I don't want to miss this. I'm a little nervous about it. What allocation should I use here?' And so, we go back to our three, kind of, typical investors when we try to answer this question. We really try and help people figure out where is equal weight. So, we wrote a note in February called “Are you Underweight Bitcoin?” And we have three different answers depending on how you're thinking of it. And, you know, there's a big debate. There's no clear answer. And that's not really where we want our clients. We want them to be smaller where they can have some exposure if they want it. Not everyone wants it, but if you do want it, you can have it. And it won't really dominate the volatility of the portfolio. Now, on another note, Mike, are you seeing legacy platforms start to offer crypto as well?Michael Cyprys: So crypto ETFs are generally available in self-directed brokerage accounts across the industry today. Schwab, for example, commented that their customers hold $25 billion in crypto ETFs, which is about, call it 20 percent share of the ETF space. But access to these crypto ETFs is a bit more restricted within the Advisor-led channel. But we're starting to see that broaden out for ETFs and eventually might see model portfolios with allocations toward crypto ETFs.But when you look at spot crypto trading, though, that generally remains out of reach of most legacy platforms. The key hurdle for that has been regulatory clarity and with a more crypto friendly administration that is changing here. So, Schwab, for example, acknowledged that they have the regulatory clarity needed and they're working towards launching their spot crypto trading platform in the first half of next year.On that topic, Denny, how do you view the merits of holding crypto directly versus through an exchange-traded product like ETFs?Denny Galindo: Yeah, I mean, our clients are mostly not day trading this product and kind of moving it back and forth. So, the ETPs have been a pretty good answer for them. The one issue is liquidity. And so, we're not used to thinking of this in; the U.S. equity markets are the most liquid markets. But in crypto, the crypto markets, the spot markets are actually more liquid than the equity markets. So, you get a lot of liquidity even after hours, even 24x7. And as other markets around the world kind of take the lead. But most of our investors aren't treating it that way. They're not day trading it, and they're really keeping it more like that digital gold allocation. And so, they just need to adjust the position size, you know, once a month, once a year maybe; just kind of buy and hold. But I wonder, you know, as more people get more comfortable, it could become more important in the future. So, it's an open question, but for now, the ETPs have been a pretty good answer here.Michael Cyprys: Fascinating space. Denny, thanks so much for taking the time to talk.Denny Galindo: It was great speaking with you, Mike.Michael Cyprys: And thanks for listening. In this lively Restaurant Owners Uncorked chat, Anesh Bodasing, founder of fast-casual Indian concept Tiffin Box, traces a 30-year hospitality journey that began with an audacious “give me 60 days” pitch to Hard Rock Café in Cape Town, winds through Canada, South Africa, the UK, and South Florida, and culminates in launching Tiffin Box in 2019 (right before COVID), surviving a bruising first year, testing a food hall, shutting the original West Palm store, and smartly pivoting to dense college-town sites (FSU/FAMU in Tallahassee, UF in Gainesville). Framing Tiffin Box as “Chipotle for Indian,” he shares lessons on branding, build-out nitty-gritty, cash-flow reality, and a service-first ethos (own the mistake, fix it fast, win loyalty), while aiming to “crack the code” for mainstreaming authentic, everyday Indian food and ultimately franchising.10 Takeaways Bold beginnings pay off: confidence got Anesh his first shot at Hard Rock and set the tone for his career. “Chipotle for Indian” creates instant understanding for new guests unfamiliar with the cuisine. Brand words matter: “Americanized” signaled watered-down; switching to “fast, fresh Indian” restored credibility. Cash flow rules everything during build-out; opening day is the first chance money can flow back in. Owner vs. operator: the job shifts from running shifts to deciding lights, outlets, signage, leases—every detail. Pandemic resilience: momentum stalled in 2020, but tight pivots (and lessons from a short-lived food hall) refined the model. Site strategy upgrade: closing West Palm and targeting student-dense, walkable college corridors increased fit and foot traffic. Service > food > price: great service makes guests forgiving and price-agnostic; poor service makes every dollar feel worse. Reviews are a gift: answer fast, fix the problem, and you'll often create your most loyal fans from a bad moment. Founder availability matters: post your number, handle issues personally, and build trust at scale.

This week on Fat Science, Dr. Emily Cooper, Mark Wright, and Andrea Taylor take a trip to the past when Dr. Cooper didn't have many supporters in medicine. She shares what it was like to be ridiculed by her peers, why she refused to give up on her patients, and how her science-based approach to metabolism was finally validated by mainstream medicine.Hear the raw, unfiltered story of resilience, patient advocacy, and scientific discovery that led Dr. Cooper from being dismissed as “voodoo” to blazing a trail for real metabolic health.Key Questions Answered:Why did so many in the medical community reject Dr. Cooper's methods—like challenging “calories in, calories out”—when she started treating metabolic issues? What does the rise of GLP-1 medications reveal about the true science behind appetite, metabolism, and weight? How did Dr. Cooper hold onto her integrity and keep practicing effective, patient-centered medicine despite overwhelming opposition? When does medical “common sense” get replaced by real science, and what does that mean for anyone struggling with diets that fail?Key Takeaways:Progress means facing skepticism. Dr. Cooper was once called a "voodoo doctor" and even yelled at by other physicians for her scientific methods, but results spoke louder than her critics. Metabolism is personal and complex—restrictive diets and “eat less, move more” advice often backfire. Hormonal science and careful patient tracking revealed why old rules failed. Persistent curiosity and data-driven practice, not popularity, eventually shift the culture. Dr. Cooper leaned on a “matrix” of metabolic markers long before these tests were commonplace. GLP-1 medications (like Byetta and Victoza) have moved from obscure tools to mainstream, validating Dr. Cooper's approach to treating the whole metabolic system. True healing means fueling, not restricting. “Eating more,” not less, was key to metabolic recovery for many patients—a radical, often ridiculed idea that's now supported by science and real-world clinical data from thousands of patients.Patient stories mirror the medical journey—today, both patients and providers can look back and realize that “voodoo” was simply science ahead of its time. Dr. Cooper's Actionable Tips:Question easy answers—when in doubt, follow the data, not tradition.Find a provider who listens, tests, and adapts treatment to you—not just your weight or a number on a scale.Remember that real science can be lonely before it's mainstream. Trust progress, even when it feels slow.Celebrate freedom from food guilt; focus on nourishment, steady energy, and self-compassion, not dieting extremes.Notable Quote:“It does make you feel lonely because you feel like there's no one to talk to, but it was always about doing right by the science and by my patients.” — Dr. Emily CooperFat Science is your source for breaking diet myths and advancing the science of true metabolic health. More important than that, however, the dollar is accelerating higher which signals quite a lot all its own. But what? The Habitability of Venus's Clouds: Following Chemical Clues to Possible Life. Dr. David Grinspoon (Planetary Science Institute) and Dr. David Livingston (The Space Show) discuss the growing mainstream focus on the potential for life in the clouds of Venus. Although the surface is too extreme, the cloud layer provides a relatively benign environment with low pressure and cool temperatures, prompting questions about potential habitability. Life might have migrated to the clouds if Venus lost its ancient, biologically promising oceans. The controversial detection of phosphine, a chemical largely produced by life on Earth, serves as an intriguing, strange chemical clue suggesting something "weird" is happening. Grinspoon also addresses panspermia, noting that hardy organisms like tardigrades could potentially survive natural transfers between planets or even interstellar journeys. The ideal altitude, or "sweet spot," for possible life is around 50 kilometers, where conditions resemble Earth's surface.

Mainstream conversations about artificial intelligence tend to center around the technology's economic and large-scale impacts. Yet it's at the individual level where we're seeing AI's most potent effects, and they may not be what you think. Even in the limited time that AI chatbots have been publicly available (like Claude, ChatGPT, Perplexity, etc.), studies show that our increasing reliance on them wears down our ability to think and communicate effectively, and even erodes our capacity to nurture healthy attachments to others. In essence, AI is atrophying the skills that sit at the core of what it means to be human. Can we as a society pause to consider the risks this technology poses to our well-being, or will we keep barreling forward with its development until it's too late? In this episode, Nate is joined by Nora Bateson and Zak Stein to explore the multifaceted ways that AI is designed to exploit our deepest social vulnerabilities, and the risks this poses to human relationships, cognition, and society. They emphasize the need for careful consideration of how technology shapes our lives and what it means for the future of human connection. Ultimately, they advocate for a deeper engagement with the embodied aspects of living alongside other people and nature as a way to counteract our increasingly digital world. What can we learn from past mass adaptation of technologies such as the invention of the world wide web or GPS when it comes to AI's increasing presence in our lives? How does artificial intelligence expose and intensify the ways our culture is already eroding our mental health and capacity for human connection? And lastly, how might we imagine futures where technology magnifies the best sides of humanity – like creativity, cooperation, and care – rather than accelerating our most destructive instincts?  (Conversation recorded on October 14th, 2025)   About Nora Bateson: Nora Bateson is an award-winning filmmaker, writer and educator, as well as President of the International Bateson Institute, based in Sweden. Her work asks the question "How can we  improve our perception of the complexity we live within, so we may improve our interaction with the world?" An international lecturer, researcher and writer, Nora wrote, directed and produced the award-winning documentary, An Ecology of Mind, a portrait of her father, Gregory Bateson. Her work brings the fields of biology, cognition, art, anthropology, psychology, and information technology together into a study of the patterns in ecology of living systems. Her book, Small Arcs of Larger Circles, released by Triarchy Press, UK, 2016 is a revolutionary personal approach to the study of systems and complexity.   About Zak Stein: Dr. Zak Stein is a philosopher of education, as well as a Co-founder of the Center for World Philosophy and Religion. He is also the Co-founder of Civilization Research Institute, the Consilience Project, and Lectica, Inc. He is the author of dozens of published papers and two books, including Education in a Time Between Worlds. It's Tuesday, November 4th, A.D. 2025. This is The Worldview in 5 Minutes heard on 140 radio stations and at www.TheWorldview.com.  I'm Adam McManus. (Adam@TheWorldview.com) By Kevin Swanson Trump adds Nigeria as Country of Particular Concern The President of the United States announced Friday that Nigeria will be added to the State Department's list of Countries of Particular Concern in regards to Christian persecution, reports ABC News. A "Country of Particular Concern" is a designation given by the U.S. government to a country that has engaged in or tolerated "systematic, ongoing, and egregious violations of religious freedom.” This designation, made by the President or Secretary of State under the International Religious Freedom Act, indicates severe religious freedom violations like torture, prolonged detention for religious reasons, or religiously inspired murder. A Country of Particular Concern designation can lead to diplomatic pressure or economic sanctions. Trump threatens Nigerian Islamic terrorists with swift justice President Trump added this passionate statement to his Truth Social on Sunday.  He wrote, “If the Nigerian Government continues to allow the killing of Christians, the U.S.A. will immediately stop all aid and assistance to Nigeria, and may very well go into that now disgraced country, ‘guns-a-blazing,' to completely wipe out the Islamic Terrorists who are committing these horrible atrocities.  “I am hereby instructing our Department of War to prepare for possible action. If we attack, it will be fast, vicious, and sweet, just like the terrorist thugs attack our CHERISHED Christians! WARNING: THE NIGERIAN GOVERNMENT BETTER MOVE FAST!” In response, Secretary of War Pete Hegseth said on X, "The killing of innocent Christians in Nigeria, and anywhere, must end immediately. The Department of War is preparing for action. Either the Nigerian government protects Christians, or we will kill the Islamic terrorists who are committing these horrible atrocities.” Last month, Republican Senator Ted Cruz of Texas commented on X that "Officials in Nigeria are ignoring and even facilitating the mass murder of Christians by Islamist jihadists.” Mainstream media outlets sidestep Nigerian genocide In recent news reports, the Associated Press, the Washington Post, the New York Times, and other mainstream media sources continue ignoring, minimizing, or outright rejecting the world's most egregious genocide at present -- the mass killing of Christians in Nigeria, Africa. At the same time, Genocide Watch has issued a “Genocide Emergency” for Nigeria —citing the mass slayings of Christians.   The organization considers Nigeria to have entered what they call Stage 9: Extermination and Stage 10: Denial — with this particular genocide.  Over the last 15 years, a report from the International Society for Religious Liberties and the Rule of Law counts 189,000 Nigerians slaughtered in cold blood by radical Muslims, of which 125,000 plus were Christians.   In addition, 19,100 churches were destroyed, and more than 1,100 Christian communities sacked. Nigerian Bishop upset that some deny there's a Christian genocide Bishop David Abioye of the Nigerian Conqueror Global Assembly spoke recently of the genocide, correcting what he called “the distortion of truth.” ABIOYE: “There's a lot of distortion going on. People claiming that there is no genocide of Christians in the nation. You see people buried [by the] hundreds, and you say there is no genocide. What a wicked set of people. I agree there are people killed in other place for other reasons.  “But this one is very clear, and gradually it's eating down to the South, Southwest, Southeast. Many so-called leaders, for their personal interest, are claiming it's not true, selling out their faith, if they have it at all.” Romans 13 calls the ruler or president “God's minister to you for good,” noting “he does not bear the sword in vain; for he is God's minister, an avenger to execute wrath on him who practices evil.”  Texas Supreme Court allows judges not to perform homosexual weddings Is Obergefell on ice?   That's the 2015 Supreme Court ruling which purportedly legalized same-sex mirage in this country.  The Texas Supreme Court has ruled that judges who refuse to perform homosexual faux marriage ceremonies will no longer face disciplinary action for their decisions, reports The Christian Post. This comes right as the US Supreme Court will be discussing the same issue, scheduled for this Friday. Kim Davis, the former Kentucky county clerk, has appealed her case, where she was convicted for refusing to issue marriage licenses to homosexual couples after the Obergefell decision came down in 2015. Reformed pastor arrested for soliciting prostitutes A Presbyterian Church in America pastor from Tulsa, Oklahoma has been arrested on charges of soliciting prostitutes, reports ChurchLeaders.com. Jeremy Fair, senior pastor of Christ Presbyterian Church, was one of five men implicated in a sting operation. The church has placed the pastor on indefinite leave, according to a statement issued by the session. U.S. government shutdown about to become longest in history The current American government shutdown is about to round its fifth week, or 35th day.  If the shutdown continues through tomorrow, this will be the longest in U.S. history — exceeding the record set during the first Trump administration in 2019. Because of the ongoing financial crisis, President Donald Trump is urging the Senate Republicans to scrap the 60-vote filibuster threshold in favor of the simple-majority passage of legislation. However, on Monday, Senate Majority Leader John Thune said there's not enough support among Republican senators to eliminate the filibuster, reports Politico.com.  However, Senator Thune did express optimism about the Senate's resolution of the shutdown this week, reports CBS News. Trump admin will partially fund November food stamps On Monday, the Trump administration agreed to move billions of emergency dollars to partially pay for food aid this month in response to a federal judge's order, though some families may not receive benefits for weeks, according to Politico.com. Officials will use $4.65 billion from the USDA's contingency fund to support roughly half of food stamp participants' “current allotments” as the shutdown drags on, according to a new legal filing. Help victims of Hurricane Melissa in Jamaica, Cuba, and Haiti Late last week, Category-5 Hurricane Melissa clobbered Jamaica, Cuba, and Haiti, leveling whole towns, and killing 67 people, 32 of whom were in Jamaica, reports NBC News. Samaritan's Purse has airlifted their Emergency Field Hospital to Black River, Jamaica, and has already delivered tons of emergency supplies where the island nation has racked up $4 billion of insured losses.    To contribute to this relief effort, click on a special link in our transcript today at www.TheWorldview.com.   Iceland, Denmark, Australia & UK kill virtually all Down Syndrome babies And finally, in 2 Timothy 3, the Apostle Paul speaks of perilous times where men become “lovers of themselves, lovers of money … without natural affection … brutal … lovers of pleasure rather than lovers of God. [and] having a form of godliness, but denying the power thereof...” Catholic World Report has released numbers on nations aborting children with Down syndrome.   Iceland aborts nearly 100%, Denmark 98%, and Australia and the United Kingdom are killing about 90%  of its babies conceived with Down's Syndrome. The UK Gospel Witness, including a group of reformed pastors, will be gathering at the U.K. Parliament building on Thursday, to call the nation and its leaders to repentance.  Pray for this outreach. From California's drought-driven projects to saltwater intrusion along the East Coast, water reuse is expanding. In this conversation, Reese and Megan explore what's driving this growth—and what it means for utilities, communities, and the industries that depend on them. In this episode: What's behind the surge in water reuse investment—and how it reflects a new mindset around resilience. How utilities and policymakers are addressing challenges like cost, permitting, and public perception. Why potable reuse is emerging as a larger share of new capacity additions by 2035. How regional factors—from groundwater depletion in the West to saltwater intrusion in the East—are shaping different approaches. Mainstream Darkness James 3:13-18 Who is wise and understanding among you? Let them show it by their good life, by deeds done in the humility that comes from wisdom.  14 But if you harbor bitter envy and selfish ambition in your hearts, do not boast about it or deny the truth.  15 Such "wisdom" does not come down from heaven but is earthly, unspiritual, demonic. 16 For where you have envy and selfish ambition, there you find disorder and every evil practice.   Envy is rooted in comparison. The antidote to comparison is contentment. Contentment is practiced through gratitude.   Selfish ambition is rooted in pride. The antidote to pride is humility. Humility is practiced through service.    16 For where you have envy and selfish ambition, there you find disorder and every evil practice.   17 But the wisdom that comes from heaven is first of all pure; then peace-loving, considerate, submissive, full of mercy and good fruit, impartial and sincere.    18 Peacemakers who sow in peace reap a harvest of righteousness.

You think Putin invaded Ukraine because he hates freedom and democracy and wants to conquer the world? Bless your heart my twelve year-old buddy. You think the US and Israel have been attacking and eliminating rivals in Iran, Lebanon, Syria, Yemen and Palestine in order to fight terrorism, stop tyranny, and protect the world from nuclear weapons? Yeah, that checks out, you're twelve. The mainstream western worldview is like a children's cartoon, with the Bad Guys doing Bad Things simply because they are Bad, and the Good Guys striving heroically to stop them. It sounds like a shitty PG-13 summer blockbuster starring The Rock, but it's the consensus worldview of serious professional pundits and analysts who share this perspective on mainstream platforms with serious expressions on their faces, and anyone who calls any part of it into question is dismissed as an extremist or a deranged crackpot. Because everyone is twelve now. Reading by Tim Foley.
