This week's study focuses on the importance of receiving the empowerment of the Holy Spirit and overcoming the challenges associated with our various traditions and misconceptions.
https://www.christchurchnashville.org/media/service-archive/if-this-is-from-god/Throughout the first six chapters of the Book of Acts, the disciples of Jesus experienced the amazing manifestation of Holy Spirit in their lives. They spoke the Word of God with boldness and new tongues, lived together in community by sharing their resources and breaking bread from house to house, signs and wonders were done by the apostles, and believers were daily added to their number. Yet… The religious leaders arrested, threaten, and beat the disciples on numerous occasions because they spoke in the Name of Jesus. Their anger eventually led to plans of killing the apostles. But God used the advice of a Pharisee, Gamaliel, to speak truth to power and win the apostle's freedom. His words, “If this is from God, you will not be able to overthrow them.”, should guide us to true north of what it means to be the Church.
https://www.christchurchnashville.org/media/service-archive/telling-and-hearing-hard-truths/The witness and martyrdom of Stephen in the Book of Acts speaks across the centuries up to our current moment concerning the cost of speaking truthfully and the staunch resistance to hearing hard truths.
https://www.christchurchnashville.org/media/service-archive/make-me-a-servant/We all know how challenging life can be. Even life in the Spirit presents challenges. The first century Church in Jerusalem faced conflict from both outside and inside the community of faith, much like the twenty-first century Church today. Yet if the people of God are to face challenges because of our obedience to Christ, God will provide the way to meet those challenges in the power and wisdom provided by the Holy Spirit. And the way God provides, is to be found in serving one another in the way of Christ.
https://www.christchurchnashville.org/media/service-archive/the-name-of-jesus/The first recorded miracle of the Early Church reveals where the true power of the Church resides. It is not great wealth or human ability that changes a person's heart or physical condition. It is faith in the Name of Jesus that enables the lame to walk and the Church to speak Truth to power. When we are pressured to not speak in His name or tempted to rely upon our own efforts, we must choose to call and depend upon the Name of Jesus.
https://www.christchurchnashville.org/media/service-archive/all-the-difference-in-the-world/How much of a difference should the presence and power of the indwelling Holy Spirit make in our lives? If we look at the lives of that first generation of disciples after Pentecost, we should see the Spirit makes all the difference in the world! No matter what may come against us, or what we may be facing, God will bring us through by the grace of the Father, in the love of the Son, through the power of the Holy Spirit.
https://www.christchurchnashville.org/media/service-archive/the-promise-and-power-of-pentecost/How do we understand the promise of God which was fulfilled on the day of Pentecost nearly 2,000 years ago, and how does it impact our lives as believers today? What does the gift of the person, presence, and power of the Holy Spirit within us mean for the Church not only then, but now?
https://www.christchurchnashville.org/media/service-archive/testify-faith-to-live-in-the-life-of-god/Could your faith use some strengthening? In the final installment of our sermon series TESTIFY: An Eastertide Journey through 1 John, we discover how testimony is intended to strengthen our faith. And as 1 John reveals, it is only by faith that we may walk in the light of God, as we receive and share the love of God, so we may know and experience the eternal life of God, all through Jesus Christ.
https://www.christchurchnashville.org/media/service-archive/testify-learning-to-be-the-beloved/The term Beloved is used multiple times by John in his first letter. As he writes about the importance of living and growing in love throughout this letter, he reminds us of the truth that we are beloved by God. God imparts to us the same type of love that was expressed to His Beloved Son, Jesus Christ. John says that this divine love is perfected among us as we live in community with each other.
https://www.christchurchnashville.org/media/service-archive/testify-growing-in-the-love-of-god/In the third installment of our sermon series TESTIFY: An Eastertide Journey through 1 John, we hear John describe what it means to testify of the truth and love of God not only through our words, but also through our actions. This is how the world will know we are children of God: if we lay down our lives in love for one another, as God in Christ has first done for us.
https://www.christchurchnashville.org/media/service-archive/the-road-to-hope/Pastor Paul blesses us with a sermon about "The Road to Hope".
https://www.christchurchnashville.org/media/service-archive/testify-living-in-the-love-of-god-part-i/In the second installment of our sermon series TESTIFY: An Eastertide Journey through 1 John, we begin to discover what it means to live in the love of God in our daily lives. How does God see our obedience to Him as indication of our love for Christ and for one another? How can we better love God by growing in our obedience to Christ? How can we better love one another as Christ loves us?
https://www.christchurchnashville.org/media/service-archive/testify-living-in-the-light-of-god/In Part I of our sermon series TESTIFY: An Eastertide Journey through 1 John, we discover what it means to live in the light of God, which includes the joyous communion with God and one another only the truth of Jesus Christ makes possible.
https://www.christchurchnashville.org/media/service-archive/sorrow-into-joy/Although seemingly impossible, the resurrection of Jesus Christ was absolutely necessary for our salvation. Only a God of transformation could take something so painful, like the death of Christ, and turn it into the way by which we would be made whole. And as Mary Magdalene experienced on that first Easter morning, only the God of resurrection could take such deep sorrow and turn it into such great joy. Only the risen Christ could fulfill that promise for her, and for us. Hallelujah! Christ is risen! He is risen indeed!
https://www.christchurchnashville.org/media/service-archive/wednesday-word-worship-and-prayer-holy-week/Holy Week is a invitation to remember and participate in the last seven days of Jesus’ life before the crucifixion. From Palm Sunday to Resurrection Sunday, God’s love is expressed to us through the life, death, and resurrection of our Savior. He is risen, He is risen indeed!
https://www.christchurchnashville.org/media/service-archive/the-lord-needs-it/Palm Sunday reminds us of the little things that were given to Jesus as He made His way to Jerusalem. He chooses to use what is first given to us.
https://www.christchurchnashville.org/media/service-archive/wednesday-wwp-week-4-lent-the-wilderness-journey-3rd-temptation/Jesus’ third temptation reveals that genuine faith is tested and proven in the wilderness. When we understand God’s Word, Satan is unable to use it against us.
https://www.christchurchnashville.org/media/service-archive/for-the-glory-of-god/Why did Jesus have to die? Why did Jesus die as he did? To answer such vital questions, we need to understand how Jesus lived, died, and would live again, all for the glory of God. Now, because of what Christ has done for us, we can be free to do the same!
https://www.christchurchnashville.org/media/service-archive/wednesday-wwp-week-3-lent-the-wilderness-journey-2nd-temptation/The 2nd temptation of earthly power and false worship is something that we still struggle with today. Jesus teaches us that we are to worship God only and seek His Kingdom above all earthly power or riches.
https://www.christchurchnashville.org/media/service-archive/i-lift-my-eyes/A reflection on the second Psalm of Ascents, as we journey through Lent toward Holy Week. May we be reminded as our forefathers and foremothers who made their pilgrimage to Jerusalem that the Lord, who is the Maker of Heaven and earth, is also our keeper.
https://www.christchurchnashville.org/media/service-archive/wednesday-wwp-lent-the-wilderness-journey-1st-temptation/Each of us are tempted to find our own way of fulfilling personal needs and desires. However our identity and success in times of trouble can only be found in God. We live by every word from the mouth of God.
https://www.christchurchnashville.org/media/service-archive/releasing-and-receiving/As we are embracing our Core Values of word, worship, prayer, community, diversity, and generosity as a church, the season of Lent can help remind us that in order to truly receive new things we often have to release others. What have we attached or added to the Gospel of Christ that it is time to let go of? Lent is the perfect season to intentionally open ourselves to the change the Scriptures teach us to pursue.
https://www.christchurchnashville.org/media/service-archive/wednesday-wwp-lent-the-wilderness-journey/Week 1: The Holy Spirit led Jesus into the Wilderness to be tempted by Satan. Most of us struggle with the thought of facing tough problems or feeling that God could somehow allow problems to come.

https://www.christchurchnashville.org/media/service-archive/essential-an-introduction-to-our-core-values/With all our culture is currently facing, knowing what core values are ESSENTIAL (absolutely necessary) for the Church in these days is crucial. In this seven week series, we will not only discover our core values as a congregation, but also learn how God promises to empower us to live them out as His People in the world.
https://www.christchurchnashville.org/media/service-archive/the-first-word/On this Second Sunday after Christmas, we remember how God was moving to bring salvation to the world long before the actual birth of Christ. In the prologue to his gospel account, John testifies to this glorious and wondrous truth in language both beautiful and mysterious; how the eternal Word has been revealed to us as the Incarnate Son, and how we may live in His Light, which the darkness cannot overcome.
https://www.christchurchnashville.org/media/service-archive/love-poured-out/On this First Sunday of Christmas, we revisit the wonder and mystery of the Incarnation. We remember and behold the splendor of how the eternal Son, in love and humility, “poured Himself out” in obedience to the Father for our sake. And in response, we receive the invitation to “let the same mind be in us, that was in Christ Jesus.”
https://www.christchurchnashville.org/media/service-archive/real-love/The fourth candle of Advent is the Candle of Love. It reminds us that real love was made available to us through the gift of God’s Son on that first Christmas. In our search for love, God continues to make His gift of “Agape” love available to all as the light of Christ shines through us.

https://www.christchurchnashville.org/media/service-archive/real-hope-born-of-real-grief/On this first Sunday of Advent, we ask ourselves how is it that real hope may be born out of real grief? At a time when so many are grieving in some way in the Church and in the world, how is God yet able to minister true living hope to His people, even in the midst of such trying circumstances?
https://www.christchurchnashville.org/media/service-archive/the-sheep-and-the-goats/Jesus is called the King of kings and Lord of lords. The question that we must ask is, "Does He still reign in my life?".

https://www.christchurchnashville.org/media/service-archive/living-out-our-baptism/What does it mean to live out our Baptism? According to the Apostle Paul, the Gospel reveals how when we were nothing more than dead men walking (EPH 2:1), God in Christ entered into the full brokenness of human life. God did this so that by the power of His saving grace, He might bring us into the full wholeness of the life of God, raising and empowering us to “walk in newness of life” (RMS 6:4). As part of His New Creation (2 Corinthians 5:17), we are God’s “workmanship, (re)-created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand, that we should walk in them” (EPH 2:10). Christian Baptism is meant to signify our embodiment of this life-giving spiritual reality. As we live out our Baptism, we learn to walk in the good works God has intended for us, embodying His lavish gifts of grace, love, and life so freely given in Christ.
