Ginger has worked as a news anchor and reporter for KELO-TV, on-camera talent and producer for South Dakota Public Broadcasting and as co-owner/producer for TV Productions, Inc. In addition to her SDSU teaching role, she is the producer of "On Call with the Prairie Doc," owner of a website development company, and inventor of "The Doorhickey."

Our last episode of the fall semester features Steve Erpenbach, president and CEO of the SDSU Foundation and an alum of the school, receiving his Bachelor of Arts in journalism in 1985. He is also a writer and artist known for his work recreating images of military aircraft. John spoke with student host Sam Schauer earlier this week. Keith graduated from SDSU in 1956 with a degree in journalism, and was the first full time director of the SDSU Alumni Association and was also the former director of the South Dakota Newspaper Association. We start this new fall season with a new host, Sam Schauer. Sam is a sophomore journalism and communication studies double major and also the news director for KSDJ, the student radio station. Sam will be hosting Coffee with COJO for the Fall 2021 semester, so listen in and get to know a bit about our new student host. Our next podcast will be available on September 24th.
Our final episode of the semester features our school director, Dr. Lyle Olson. Dr. Olson is retiring this summer, and student Jonathan Gouger spoke with him about his career and accomplishments and what the future holds. Coffee with COJO will be on hiatus over the summer, with new episodes this August.

McCade has been hosting Coffee with COJO since it began over a year ago, and he is wrapping up his graduate work this semester, with Jonathan Gouger taking over hosting duties. Buck owns Station 5 productions where he used his experience in graphic design to create the Fear Asylum haunted house as well as several escape rooms and props for other productions. Our eighth podcast features Miranda O'Bryan. Miranda is a senior double major in journalism and history, and her honors independent study was creating a documentary on the Day in the Life of Freeman project from 26 years ago. Miranda talked to students in the original publication, which featured photos by SDSU journalism students documenting the small town of Freeman, South Dakota on April 20, 1994. Journalism students revisited freeman last spring on the 25th anniversary to do another day in the life project. Our seventh podcast features Madison Van Walleghen. Madison is a first year graduate student in the communication and media studies program and is also a graduate teaching assistant. Her hobbies include golf and softball. She hopes to work in media relations for major league baseball when she graduates. Mccade and Bea talked with Madison last fall. Our next episode will be available on April 10th and feature a conversation with Miranda O'Bryan as she talks about her documentary project "A Day in the Life of Freeman, South Dakota." Our sixth podcast features local photographer Dave Eggen. Dave has experience as a photojournalist for the Brookings Register and as digital media producer for KDLT-TV. He now works as a freelance photographer specializing in sports. Dave has photographed many SDSU sporting events and often talks to our journalism classes about his experience. Our fifth podcast features graduate teaching assistant Alexandra Farber. Alex is a South Dakota State University honors alumna with a double major in communication studies and advertising, so one of the first truly “COJO” graduates. She served as the communications chair for the SDSU Students Association and won best presenter at the national level in the American Advertising Federation National Student Advertising Competition. Our fourth podcast features another one of our faculty members, Doctor Kelli Chromey. Dr. Chromey is an assistant professor and co-director of the speech 101 basic course. Her focus in in the area of impostor phenomenon, workplace bullying, organizational socialization, and emotions in the workplace. Our third podcast features one of our graduate students, Rachel Eickhoff. Rachel works as a graduate teaching assistant in our fundamentals of speech course and is also a yoga instructor. She is a South Dakota State University honors college graduate and former division one track and field athlete. Rachel sat down with her fellow classmates Bea and McCade last fall for this conversation. This episode of "Coffee with COJO" features visual communication instructor Frank Robertson. Frank joined the SDSU School of Communication and Journalism in the fall of 2017 as an instructor to teach Intro to Digital Media, Basic Photography, Photojournalism, Advanced Photography, and Advance Multiplatform Storytelling — a course he developed while earning his master's from the department's online Master of Mass Communication program the same year. After receiving his B.A. here in 1995, he spent most of the past 22 years in the newspaper industry as a photojournalist and multimedia editor, working at the Aberdeen American News and Sioux Falls Argus Leader here in South Dakota before spending ten years in southern Ohio at the Chillicothe Gazette, first as a staff photojournalist then eight years as its multimedia editor. Frank was recognized in 2014 as Distinguished Alumni by the department and has earned dozens of awards for his work throughout his career, earning eight in just his final year at the Gazette which included five 1st Place awards and Best Photographer (Ohio APME Newspaper Awards, Div. I).
This inaugural episode of "Coffee with COJO" features students who worked for ESPN College GameDay last fall. ESPN College GameDay is a pregame collegiate football program show on Saturday morning during the football season. The program broadcasts live from various college campuses hosting a featured game. On Saturday, October 26th 2019, GameDay broadcast for the first time on the South Dakota State University campus. This episode, hosted by McCade Ivarsen, focuses on the experiences of three COJO students who worked with the GameDay crew; Tori Berndt, Alex Eigen and Natalie Hilden.
