Send us a textIn Part 16 of our verse-by-verse Hebrews study, we step into the “Hall of Faith” in Hebrews 11. The writer has just warned his readers not to drift, harden, fall away, or shrink back — now he shows them what persevering faith looks like. We'll see how Abel, Enoch, Noah, Abraham, Sarah, Moses, Israel at the Red Sea, Rahab, the judges, the prophets — even the unnamed, persecuted saints “of whom the world was not worthy” — were all trusting the same God we trust today. And here's the surprise: they didn't receive the promise yet because God had “something better” planned that includes us. Should Christians Keep the Torah? In this episode of Reclamation, Naomi talks with apologist and professor R. L. Solberg about the Hebrew Roots Movement (Torahism)—what it teaches, why it's spreading, and how it can slip into high-control or spiritually abusive patterns.Together, they consider:- What Hebrew Roots / Torahism actually is- Why some Christians find it appealing- The five-stage progression from fascination to control- What Galatians teaches about law, grace, and freedom- Practical advice for families and friends affected by this movementThey also discuss beEmboldened's new course, “Rebuilding with Biblical Literacy,” designed for those healing from spiritual abuse and seeking a deeper understanding of Scripture.

Frasi come "Non sei pazzo.

Send us a textThere are just some common, persistent Hebrew Roots claims—I would even call them “biblical myths,” because they're so clearly untrue, yet they're continually repeated and still believed. In this video, we explore and debunk four such claims made by Hebrew Roots (Torah-observant) teachers—claims that often lead believers into confusion and division. In fact, we will interact with actual clips from a Hebrew roots teacher named Melissa Smith (aka God's Little Hummingbird).Using Scripture as our authority, we test each claim for its theological soundness and practical implications:How do we define sin? How can Gentiles be freed from the law if they were never under it?Did the Jerusalem Council in Acts 15 give Gentile believers a "starter pack" of laws?Did Paul really keep the law in Acts 21?This video challenges the assumptions behind modern Torahism and aims to build up the body of Christ with clarity and truth. This discussion is a deep dive into biblical theology—more than just soundbites—and whether you're new to this conversation or deeply invested in it, you'll walk away with a clearer understanding of how the gospel of Jesus Christ stands in contrast to Torah-keeping legalism. The Biblical Roots MinistriesOur websiteOur YouTube ChannelProf. Solberg's BlogSupport our Ministry (Thank you!)

What happens when good intentions toward biblical faithfulness lead to legalistic bondage? In this episode, we're unpacking MORE THAN JUST the growing trend of Torah-keeping, feast day observance, and dietary codes among modern believers. Our returning guest, Dr. R.L. Solberg, takes us deep into his new book The Law, The Christ, The Promise—a verse-by-verse apologetic study of Galatians that lays out the dangers of blending Old Covenant rituals with New Covenant freedom. From practical theology to table fellowship, from legalism to love, this conversation is rich, nuanced, and deeply encouraging for anyone wrestling with law, liberty, and living out their faith in Christ.Grab the book here-->https://amzn.to/3SDCcmhDr. R.L. Send us a textI've had a chance to reflect on my recent debate with Melissa Smith, who goes by “God's Little Hummingbird.” I suppose it was successful in the sense that I was able to get Melissa to admit publicly some of her more extreme beliefs about the Bible in a way that I think most folks hadn't heard before. For example, how she doesn't believe that the New Testament has the same level of authority as the Old Testament, and how Paul's letters are just letters. So, if you truly care about rightly understanding Scripture and about following Jesus in a biblical way, Melissa teaches some dangerous stuff. I'd stay far away from the teachings of God's Little Hummingbird. Our ministry is called to —as Titus 1:9 says—hold firmly to the trustworthy message as it has been taught, encourage others by sound doctrine, and refute those who oppose it. That's why we do what we do. In this episode, I share a few personal reflections, and then we dive into 5 of the many issues that Melissa and I discussed and debated. And these 5 in particular reveal the dangerous flaws in Melissa's theology that we all need to be aware of. Send us a textProfessor R. L. Solberg participated in a livestreamed debate with Torah teacher Melissa Schilling Smith (aka God's Little Hummingbird) on How the Sinai Law Applies to Followers of Jesus. The discussion was moderated by Melissa's friend, Scott Harwell, who also hosted the debate on his YouTube channel. Both agree that salvation is by grace through faith alone, but they differ on what obedience looks like under the New Covenant. The conversation covers the meaning of “new” in Jeremiah 31, whether the Sinai Covenant is still in effect, the role of the Holy Spirit in writing God's law on the heart, the purpose of the feasts and Sabbaths, dietary laws, and how to understand passages like Colossians 2 and Hebrews 8. Along the way, they also touch on eschatology, the Gospel of the Kingdom, and the unity of Jew and Gentile in God's plan. This is a deep dive into Scripture, theology, and the continuity (or discontinuity) between the Old and New Covenants. The debate was recorded on August 6th, 2025. Send us a textIn this episode, we respond to the bold claims made by Melissa Schilling Smith—aka “God's Little Hummingbird”—about mainstream Christianity and biblical theology. Melissa accuses respected teachers of being false prophets and insists that Torah observance is required for Christians today. But is this view biblically accurate? We take a careful, respectful look at one of her videos and evaluate her claims in light of Scripture. This conversation matters—not just because of what's being said, but because it reveals how theology can shift our focus from Jesus to the Mosaic law if we're not careful. If you've encountered Torah-observant teachings or know someone who has, this video will help you understand how to respond, rooted in biblical truth. #Torahism #FalseTeaching #BiblicalTruth #ChristianApologetics #HebrewRootsMovementDefending the Biblical Roots of ChristianityOur websiteOur YouTube ChannelProf. Solberg's BlogSupport our Ministry (Thank you!)
Send us a textThe last half of Hebrews 10 contains a bold and timely message: because of Christ's once-for-all sacrifice, believers now have full, confident access to God!This is a major turning point in the letter. After 9.5 chapters of deep theological teaching, the author of Hebrews pivots from doctrine to application. The message is bold and timely: because of Christ's once-for-all sacrifice, believers now have full, confident access to God. No longer restricted by an earthly temple or mediated by a human priest, we can draw near to God directly—boldly, sincerely, and with full assurance of faith. The author lays out a threefold exhortation: draw near to God, hold fast to our hope, and stir up one another to love and good works.AFFILIATE NOTE: I first studied biblical Hebrew remotely through the Israel Institute of Biblical Studies. Send us a textMeet Melissa Dougherty. Join us as she discusses her journey from New Thought beliefs to a deeper understanding of Biblical Christianity. She explores the differences between New Thought and New Age, the identity of Jesus, and the implications of these beliefs on modern Christianity. The discussion highlights the importance of critical thinking, the dangers of autonomy in spirituality, and the need for a solid understanding of the Gospel. In this conversation, Melissa Dougherty and R. L. Solberg explore the complexities of spirituality, the dangers of false teachings, and the importance of critical thinking in faith. They discuss the impact of seeker-sensitive churches on modern Christianity, the role of emotions in spiritual experiences, and the need for discernment in understanding true theology. The dialogue emphasizes the significance of grounding one's faith in scripture and the challenges posed by contemporary spiritual movements.Defending the Biblical Roots of ChristianityOur websiteOur YouTube ChannelProf. Solberg's BlogSupport our Ministry (Thank you!)#newthought #newage #spirituality #christianity #apologetics #interview Chapters00:00 Introduction to the Conversation03:03 Melissa Dougherty's Background and Journey05:50 Understanding New Thought vs. New Age08:49 The Influence of New Thought on Modern Beliefs12:04 Distinguishing New Thought from Biblical Christianity14:46 The Identity of Jesus and the Gospel17:56 The Role of Pain and Distrust in Belief Systems21:02 The Importance of Healing and Insight28:34 Understanding Healing Through Biblical Perspectives29:31 The Rise of New Thought and Its Impact30:45 Historical Context of New Thought Movement32:08 The Self-Help Movement's Roots in New Thought33:37 The Dangers of New Thought Theology36:18 Moral Accountability and Autonomy in Modern Beliefs37:43 Worldviews and Their Influence on Faith38:59 The Pragmatism of New Thought and Its Consequences40:59 The It Works Trap in Spiritual Practices43:38 Manifestation and Its Spiritual Implications46:16 The Dangers of False Signs and Wonders48:08 Evaluating Spiritual Experiences and Their Sources51:31 Self-Evaluation Against Biblical Standards52:20 The Importance of Logic and Critical Thinking in Faith56:12 Balancing Heart and Mind in Spirituality57:50 The Intellectual Component of Faith01:01:34 Emotions vs. Truth in Church Culture01:04:32 The Seeker Sensitive Model and Its Impact01:12:28 The Dilemma of Church Growth and Theology01:19:08 The Future of Church and Spiritual Hunger

Her trumfer frihet og individualisme fellesskapsbehovene, i hvert fall i retorikken. Hosted on Acast. On today's episode, I finish reviewing a video by Professor R. L. Solberg on the topic of God's law. While I agree with most of what Professor Solberg says, I think that there a few points of disagreement. Most of them surround the application and use of the Old Testament law in the life of a Christian. On a different note, if you have not done so yet, please sign up to attend the Future of Christendom conference from October 9-11 in Lancaster, PA. Send us a textAre the teachings of the First Fruits of Zion ministry safe for your church? We speak with David Harris, Ph.D, a Jewish believer in Jesus, and pastor Randy Powell, an expert on FFOZ, on this question. Prof. Solberg gets their reaction to 5 video clips from FFOZ founder, Boaz Michael. The panel addresses the controversial claim of an “incomplete gospel,” analyzing the theological roots and consequences of such a belief. They highlight the dangers of Torah-centric teachings that risk shifting the focus away from Christ and toward Old Covenant practices. Topics include the role of the Torah in Christianity, the identity of believers in the gospel, and the balance between holiness and legalism. The panel also explores the implications of the Hebrew Roots movement, including the risks of cult-like behavior and theological confusion within churches. With a clear call for discernment, this video challenges viewers to align their faith firmly with the gospel of Jesus Christ and the New Covenant teachings of Scripture.Affiliate Note: I first studied biblical Hebrew remotely through the Israel Institute of Biblical Studies. On today's episode, I briefly discuss the Hebrew Roots movement and then begin reviewing a video by Professor R. L. Solberg on the topic of God's law. In what I believe to be his attempt to counter the Hebrew Roots movement, Professor Solberg goes a bit too far and seems to be advocating for a kind of antinomianism. While that may not be his intent, it demonstrates that we must take care to not fall into ditches on either side of the road on any topic, including that of God's law.If you have not done so yet, please sign up to attend the Future of Christendom conference from October 9-11 in Lancaster, PA. Send us a textIn this episode, we test the teaching of a Hebrew Roots rabbi named Steve Berkson who teaches at Messianic Torah Observant Israel near Chattanooga, TN. Rabbi Berkson teaches, "It's not works versus grace, it's works and grace." And he defines "grace" as merited favor, saying, "It's the opposite of what you were taught. How shocking is that? Another thing the church taught you backwards. It's merited favor. That's why works and grace go together. Because it's your works that merit the favor."We test his claims against the Bible as he walks us through the idea of grace, works, and faith, and what these things have to do with our salvation.Watch Rabbi Berkson's VideoDefending the Biblical Roots of ChristianityOur websiteOur YouTube ChannelProf. Solberg's BlogSupport our Ministry (Thank you!)Chapter04:30 The ISR Scriptures translation of the Bible07:36 Grace is “merited favor”15:23 Salvation is available.19:31 Your works get you into the Kingdom of God20:37 Jesus did His part22:56 Christianity teaches no personal responsibility24:58 We need to do our part.29:14 You were put here to do the work35:31 A training ground for your works38:20 It's not about salvation (But it is)45:49 You have to earn it.
Episode 98. (replay of Episode 78)Over the last two episodes with Judith Pajo and Zeyneb Sayilgan, we've talked quite a bit about faith challenges and dealing with changes in life that impact religious practice. Those changes have included moving country. With that in mind, I wanted to replay an episode from 2024 that addresses these themes among others. Aaron Solberg was raised in an Orthodox Jewish home in New York. As a young adult, he traversed several spiritual thresholds, eventually converting to Christianity. He is now a minister in the Anglican church. He has also traded in the city for the remote wilderness of Canada. In this conversation, he describes the path he's traveled and the challenges he continues to face. While his story is unique and unusual, I believe the threads that run through it will find resonance. He offers reminders that challenges are a part of life, and that walking the path and remembering, even cherishing, your past remains with you. Highlights: Jewish practice seen as "legalistic," leading to feelings of obligation and guilt.Importance of structure and discipline.Appreciation for communal aspects of both Jewish and Christian services.Shift from fear-based obedience to love-driven practices in Christianity.Human struggle with discipline and imperfection.Bio:Father Aaron Solberg is an Anglican priest, composer, husband, and father living in the Canadian North. A convert from Judaism, he originally worked as a conductor and cellist in Germany before feeling a calling to ministry. After studying theology, he served in Baker Lake, Nunavut, (in the Canadian Arctic) and now leads St. John's Anglican Church in Fort Smith, Northwest Territories. He is the father of two young boys and writes about family life and faith, fostering a deeper understanding of spirituality within his community. In his free time, he focuses on writing and composing new music for various ensembles. Send us a textIn this episode, we take a serious look at the popular YouTube channel @Truthunedited and its controversial “Testing Christianity” series by Ron Charles. With over 100 million views, his teachings are spreading confusion about the Gospel of Jesus Christ. We examine his five-question "test" of Christianity and compare it directly to the Bible. Is his theology biblically sound—or spiritually dangerous? Join us as we confront false teaching, defend the Gospel, and pray for truth to prevail.“Beware of false prophets, who come to you in sheep's clothing but inwardly are ravenous wolves. You will recognize them by their fruits." (Matthew 7:15-16)Keep me honest! Send us a textLet's look at 6 specific differences between our modern Western culture and the culture in which the Bible was written. Why? Because knowing these differences gives us a heightened awareness of the culture in which our Bible was written, which helps us better understand what the biblical authors wanted to communicate to us. Then, using those 6 specific differences, we'll examine the Kingdom of God (aka The Kingdom of Heaven) as it's taught in the Bible. I pray you find this teaching helpful and enlightening!Links mentioned in this episode:https://walkingthetext.com/https://www.newlensbiblicalstudies.com/Where are the prophecies of a messiah rising on the 3rd day? Send us a textThere are a ton of questions out there about Easter and whether Christians should celebrate it. And here's the thing. While there are a lot of internet myths and conspiracy theories about Easter's pagan and historical origins (which we address in this episode), there are also some legitimate concerns we need to look at. And we don't want to throw the baby out with the bathwater. So, let's take a level-headed, biblical look at this holiday. And this video is intended to be a helpful resource so we're going to cover a lot of ground, from pagan myths to Constantine to whether it's appropriate for Christians to celebrate Easter today. In this engaging conversation, R.L. Solberg discusses his journey in theology and apologetics, focusing on his new book 'The Law, the Christ, the Promise.' He explores the themes of law versus grace, the misconceptions surrounding them, and the importance of understanding the book of Galatians in the context of modern Christianity. Solberg emphasizes the significance of biblical theology and the relationship between the Old and New Covenants, using the allegory of Sarah and Hagar to illustrate the differences between the two. In this episode, Professor Solberg and Jenny explore the profound themes of the Gospel, focusing on the life and calling of Paul, the significance of the New Covenant, and the transformative freedom found in Christ. They discuss the relationship between faith and works, the process of sanctification, and the importance of understanding the heart behind actions in the Christian faith.
