In this episode of Tall Boy Radio, hosts Beans and Gaz are joined by Hopper Dailey, the host and producer of the popular true crime podcast, The Final Trace. The episode offers a deep dive into the world of true crime podcasting and the meticulous work that goes into each episode of Dailey's show. Listeners get an exclusive look at the process of unraveling cold cases and how a podcast can shed new light on baffling mysteries. The conversation touches on some of the most compelling and unsettling cases that The Final Trace has covered. One such case is the tragic "Gumi Baby" incident from early 2021 in South Korea, where the mummified remains of a three-year-old girl were discovered in an apartment. The hosts and Dailey discuss the chilling twist in the case: the woman initially arrested wasn't the child's biological mother, a fact confirmed by a 99.9999% DNA match. They explore how the case went unnoticed and how the podcast sheds light on disappearances that are "forgotten" rather than "loud."Another case discussed is the strange disappearance of Julie Mott from a San Antonio funeral home in 2015. Mott, who had passed away from cystic fibrosis, was awaiting cremation when her body vanished. The conversation details the civil lawsuit filed by her family against the funeral home for negligence and highlights the theories surrounding the case, including a suspect who was allegedly obsessed with Mott. The discussion also touches on the challenges and emotional toll of investigating such sensitive and heartbreaking cases. Finally, the episode covers the mystery of Michael Negrete, a popular UCLA freshman who vanished from his dorm in 1999, and the story of Brent Brand, a case from Dailey's hometown. They delve into the bizarre details of Negrete's disappearance—his personal belongings were left behind and he was last seen by a friend after an online video game. The hosts and Dailey discuss the various theories and the ongoing efforts to find answers. The episode provides an excellent look into the investigative process, the human element of true crime, and the commitment required to tell these important stories.Listen to the Final Trace here The Final Trace | Podcast on Spotifytallboyradio.com

Access to the NRAP community forum upon signup at nrappain.org for discussions on neuromodulation, regional anesthesia, and pain. TENS: Mechanisms and Parameters Device and Parameters: TENS delivers adjustable pulse frequency and intensity; configurations include low (50–100+ Hz), and mixed frequencies. Mechanisms of Analgesia: Activation of large-diameter, non-noxious A-beta afferent fibers in the periphery, driving descending inhibitory pathways and reducing hyperalgesia. Board-relevant point: selective activation of A-beta fibers is frequently tested. Central effects: Reduces central excitability and nociceptive dorsal horn neuron activity in uninjured and injured models. Frequency-dependent opioid receptor mediation: High-frequency analgesia blocked by delta receptor antagonists. Low-frequency analgesia blocked by mu receptor antagonists (spinal cord and rostral ventral medulla). Additional receptor involvement: muscarinic M1/M3, GABA-A, and cannabinoid (CB1) receptors; blockade reduces or prevents TENS analgesia depending on frequency. Peripheral effects: High-frequency TENS reduces injury-related increases in substance P in DRG neurons. Blockade of peripheral opioid and CB1 receptors can prevent analgesia from both low- and high-frequency TENS. Clinical dosing considerations: Adequate dosing (timing, frequency of use, intensity achieving strong but non-painful paresthesia) influences efficacy. Analgesia has rapid onset/offset and may require repeated administration throughout the day for sustained relief. Evidence and Efficacy Summary Systematic Review Findings: Cochrane umbrella review of 9 systematic reviews (51 trials; n=2,895) comparing active TENS with sham/usual care found uncertain efficacy due to: Very low-quality evidence (risk of bias, small samples, methodological limitations). Inconsistent adverse event reporting. Heterogeneity in TENS parameters and comparators. Authors note uncertainty may be confounded by inadequate dosing not being an inclusion metric. Practical Interpretation: TENS is inexpensive, low-risk, self-administered, and titratable; commonly used by patients and physical therapists. Clinical experience suggests potential adjunctive benefit for acute pain, but systematic reviews are conflicting; more rigorous studies are needed. For board preparation, the critical takeaway is A-beta fiber activation. Key Takeaways for Board Prep TENS targets large-diameter non-noxious A-beta afferents to reduce nociceptive signaling. High-frequency TENS: analgesia mediated via delta opioid receptors; blocked by delta antagonists. Low-frequency TENS: analgesia mediated via mu opioid receptors; blocked by mu antagonists in spinal cord and RVM. Additional receptor systems influencing TENS efficacy include muscarinic (M1/M3), GABA-A, and CB1. Action Items Review TENS mechanisms with emphasis on A-beta fiber activation for board prep. Verify and publish final venue details for the November Florida ultrasound course. Share registration links and schedules for Detroit and New York ultrasound and chronic pain courses via CME calendar. Prepare teaching materials for ISPN London ultrasound sessions next week. "Boys Talking" Yes, it's true that Will Dailey's seventh album, Boys Talking is not technically out. I mean, it is and it isn't. Hold that thought because we're going to circle back to it. The Boston-born Will Dailey is one of the most affecting, soulful and moving singers you'll ever hear. His back catalog, which features records like Goodbye Red Bullet, National Throat, Golden Walker and his new one Boys Talking, is a perfect discography that filled with rootsy soul, road-kissed Americana and wrenching ballads that make you miss everyone you ever lost. Will's resume' is a winning read: he's signed to a major label, played with Juliana Hatfield, Peter Buck and Eddie Vedder, opened for The Wallflowers, received endless critical acclaim and played the Folk, Americana, and Roots Hall of Fame induction ceremony, paying tribute to the late Richie Havens. Will Dailey is the real deal--a singer with tremendous range and poetic prowess and if you want to classify him as one of the best kept secrets in music, that's fine, but he's one secret that shouldn't be kept. So what's the story with Boys Talking? Is it out? Yes and no. You can't find it on any streaming service, but you can buy it from Will at his website. And as he innovates further against the current digital model, another move he's made is to record a song that only you will hear--give him ten bucks and you get a song you can only listen to once. Art is valuable and Will Dailey's creativity in how to distribute art is reminding us of its joy, its dynamism and that it's not something to be thrown around or thrown away. www.willdailey.com www.bombshellradio.com (http://www.bombshellradio.com) www.stereoembersmagazine.com www.alexgreenbooks.com (http://www.alexgreenbooks.com) Stereo Embers The Podcast Email: editor@stereoembersmagazine.com (mailto:editor@stereoembersmagazine.com) IG + BLUESKY: @emberspodcast

Ken and Will discuss being gross, growing up in Boston, touring, staying in Boston, how massive the United States is, not just wanting numbers and followers, wanting to make art, Boys Talking, not releasing an album, doing it for the art, playing live, journey with no destination, The $10 Song, catharsis, feeding off of feedback, pure intentions, having your music used on television, The Good Wife, being on CSI, having Gary Sinise play bass for you on TV, how art is being a chef, how hearing yourself in something takes you out of it, realizing you were learning a formula and breaking the cycle, trying to avoid mediocrity, hanging out, not over producing, how the 20th Century is a Rennisance of human beings recording themselves, what we do next, gatekeepers, toxic nostalgia, hating Blockbuster, the incredible music talent in Boston, Juliana Hatfield, Bill Janovitz, how for some people sometimes it's never enough, how there is no finish line, how COVID changed everything, The Good Fight, "Previously On...", getting targeted ads for guitars, SNL, loving the 21st Century SNL, not wanting to hear the same classic rock songs in everything, Joe Pera Talks with You, Will McRobb's "Funny, Strange, Sad and Beautiful" philosophy, living in a world without shared experiences, and wanting all shows to end with Perfume Genius.
