Katie's pick is an underdog of a romantasy, with minimal Goodreads reviews and an uninspiring title, but a vampire-monster MMC and an aspiring librarian heroine save the day. Send us a textDo you love Audiobooks? Well, hold onto your buttz! Today we have a very special completely spoiler free interview episode for you. We're bringing you something (someone?) new and exciting to go along with our deep dive series for the Plated Prisoner books by Raven Kenneny, going on now! We're chatting with none other than the man behind our favorite voices…including THE Slade Ravinger… Anthony Palmini! Yes, you heard that right: he's the voice of some of our most treasured MMC's like Kingfisher from the Fae and Alchemy series by Callie Hart and Rhysand in the dramatized adaptation of A Court of Thorns & Roses by Sarah J Maas… and we want to know… how did he get here? He has a corner on the Romantasy shadow daddy market, and we need to know what that's like? No pressure at all! And maybe if we're extra lucky he might just show off his talents a little and answer some listener submitted questions! Anthony has over 10 years in the professional voice acting field, doing everything from voice overs for commercials, to audiobooks, to composing music for independent films. He does video editing and directing, writing for online production companies, video editing for brand names and television studios, and has even been part of a comedy troupe. We think it's safe to say that he knows his stuff, and that's the reason why he has become such a vital and beloved member of the book community.

Season 5, Episode 707: Romance Book, Fiction Excerpt with an Older Woman and Virgin Younger Man, First Time Scene from the Book Me and You by Mallory Glass, narrated by podcast host and narrator Ruan Willow. In this scene, the two MCs run into each other in the library on a Saturday night and adjourn to a basement office where they've been fooling around together for the past few weeks. They had planned to have sex for the first time earlier that week but were interrupted. That was followed by tension between the MMC crossed the boundary they had set on the limits of their relationship by inviting her to his apartment. This scene ends up being more spontaneous and unexpected for both of them. Because it's intended to be the MMC's first time, we are in his POV. About the author Mallory Glass: Come back for the author interview episode! Mallory Glass enjoys creating worlds within worlds for her characters to explore. She writes for those who love to embrace a temporary escape from reality. When she's not engaged in vicarious angst over the antics of fictional characters, she digests too much media and suffers the antics of her hostile pet rabbit. Her debut novella, Stone Heart, was released March 2025 from Sloth & Envy Press. Mallory's flash rom-com recently won first place in Writing Battle's professionally judged Heart contest. In October 2025, her short story "Wade vs. Roe" was published in Dread Mondays, a workplace horror anthology from Whisper House Press. Mallory's college romance, Me + You, will be released in spring 2026. She live in the Twin Cities, MN.

Gut motility may be the most important and least discussed aspect of health. One vital part of gut motility is the Migrating Motor Complex. The Migrating Motor Complex (MMC) is the gut’s “street sweeper,” clearing food and bacteria to maintain intestinal homeostasis between meals. In this episode, we review its physiology, regulatory mechanisms, and clinical relevance – from SIBO to functional GI disorders – highlighting why this cyclical motility pattern matters for patient care. Today you’ll meet the migrating motor complex: your gut’s built-in street sweeper that clocks in when you’re not eating. This behind-the-scenes cleaning cycle is essential to GI health! Welcome to the first installment of our Autumn-ish Book Club! In this flash analysis series, we take an academic approach to some of the most talked-about books in Romantasy and fantasy today. With over 13 years of combined academic literary training, we bring a critical lens to fandom favorites while keeping the discussion fun, thought-provoking, and accessible. In this episode, we're discussing The Hunger Games by Suzanne Collins. We explore Katniss Everdeen as a heroine whose personality type makes her both powerful and vulnerable, how Peeta functions as a unique male main character (MMC), and why the series' themes of power, media, and survival feel even more relevant today than when the books were first released. This is part 2 of this week's episode. This season, we'll be covering: The Hunger Games by Suzanne Collins A Cruel Thirst by Angela Montoya When the Moon Hatched by Sarah A. Parker Where the Shadows Meet by Patrice Caldwell Blood of Hercules by Jasmin Mas Blood Over Bright Haven by M.L. Wang Red Queen by Victoria Aveyard The Jasad Heir by Sara Hashem And when book club wraps up, get ready! Our next full literary analysis will dive into Heir of Fire by Sarah J. Maas. If you're new here, we also have full seasons analyzing A Court of Thorns and Roses, A Court of Mist and Fury, A Court of Wings and Ruin, A Court of Frost and Starlight, House of Earth and Blood, House of Sky and Breath, Throne of Glass, and Crown of Midnight. Go back and check those out to see how we break down metaphors, symbolism, narrative structure, and character arcs through multiple literary lenses. Plus, we're thrilled to announce our newest venture: The Subtext Society Journal—the first of its kind, dedicated to Romance, Romantasy, and fandom with an academic yet accessible voice. We're publishing original essays and thought pieces, and we encourage listeners to submit their own articles for a chance to be featured. If you love Sarah J. In this episode of Book Talk for BookTok, we sit down with bestselling romantasy author Devney Perry to explore the twists, turns, and emotional layers of her latest novel, Shield of Sparrows. We unpack: The origin of the story's central secrets and the moment that had Devney laughing maniacally as she wrote The unique development process behind this high-stakes fantasy, from royal family dynamics to layered worldbuilding Writing morally complex characters, including a male main character (MMC) whose presence shapes the heroine's journey without ever giving us his POV Why there are no "evil" parents in this romantasy and what it means to survive the choices of those who raised us The maternal bonds that show up in unexpected places, and what Odessa's empathy says about her strength and vulnerability Female friendship, betrayal, and the question of whether empathy is a fatal flaw or a quiet superpower Devney also gives us insight into where Odessa, Zavier, and Ransom might be headed next, and how their complicated titles evolve into earned identities. Whether you're a long-time fan of Devney Perry or a romantasy reader looking for stories with emotional depth, powerful heroines, and found-family themes, this conversation dives into everything that makes Shield of Sparrows soar.
