Hey gang, a new episode for you all, but it's not an MMC one. As discussed before on an episode or two, Stu and Eric Mulder from Watch This Movie, are diving into the world of disco films. Now this episode, along with the next 2, were previously available on the Youtube channel ONLY. As that Youtube channel is basically dead, we decided to rejuvenate these episodes, that we felt were too good to go to waste. Mulder has done some editing on them, there's a funky intro and outro, and the sound has been cleaned up as best we can. Anyway enjoy this fairly in depth, and lengthy (pun intended) discussion on BOOGIE NIGHTS.
A road trip with a journey of healing, a 180 flip of feelings for our MMC, and some spunky teenagers in this breakdown of this beautiful story.

Velika noč je pred vrati in ta nas vse vabi k ustvarjanju, risanju in barvanju. A pirhi niso edina likovna podoba, povezana s tem časom.

We got a bad one this week! One of the most disappointing---but talent filled films ever---it's "Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band".. Comic and Host Steve Mazan interviews the person who recommended we revisit this film, comedian Lesli Simms. Plus the Irish Critic joins in with her thoughts. Is this any good? Why was the director such a bold choice? Is it the most disappointing movie of all time? Should the actors have spoke? Are any of the songs as good as the Beatles? What's up with that balloon? All these questions and more get answered on this week's Mazan Movie Club Podcast. "Sgt Pepper" on IMDB Home of the Mazan Movie Club Steve Mazan on Instagram Home of Corporate Comedian Steve Mazan

Today's guest is without doubt the most successful insurance executive I have had on the show. He's also completely unique in that he is the only insurance boss I am aware of to have run one of the world's largest insurers and its largest broking group. Brian Duperreault is insurance royalty. Having started his career at AIG, he then transformed ACE from a Bermudian upstart to a major global player. He then ran MMC and set it on the road to a radical recovery, founded Hamilton Insurance and then helped AIG get a spring back in its step He has now just founded Mereo Advisors in probably one of the most difficult funding environments for balance-sheet businesses in his long career. But this introduction shouldn't be a run-through of his superb résumé – most of you know all of that already. Before this meeting I'd met Brian a couple of times. I had a brief interview with him once in the early days of the Hamilton era and had chaired him onstage at an Insurance Conference. But today's episode really showcases why the podcast can be a much more intimate and valuable medium than others. In this encounter we had the luxury of less time pressure and what resulted was a long and expansive conversation that is something very different. If you want to know how Brian has found success, listen on – it comes through loud and clear in every sentence. Brian cares deeply about what he does, but it's obvious he cares about all the people in the organisations he has run even more. He is a rare CEO, not because he is brave, morally upstanding, strategically audacious, a natural underwriter and risk-taker who is strong when executing difficult decisions and has a clear vision for how create, grow and run great insurance businesses – he's got all of that in abundance. But on top of that he is self-aware enough to know instinctively when he should hand over to a successor and try something new. As he puts it, he knows you can let a role define you and it can get really hard to leave when you're the big successful boss and everyone always laughs at all your jokes! Some of Brian's most lasting achievements have not just been the growth and performance of businesses while he has run them, but the robust state he has left them in and the continued sustainable growth they have all achieved after he has moved on. I could go on – but I think you get the picture by now. Listening back, I think we managed to do the opportunity justice. Brian's also great fun and we ended up laughing a lot more than I had imagined when poring studiously over my research and reading the superb Biography that has just been written about Brian by longstanding former colleague Wendy Davis Johnson in preparation for this interview. This podcast contains an enormous amount of highly valuable advice. My advice is to listen on and take it all to heart. If as a result anyone listening achieves even a tiny percentage of the success that Brian has, it will have been time well spent. Joe just continues to kill it. Have you seen the Class of '24 pics on the socials? How much can these guys put out? I'm just glad I got a S.N.A.K.E. Armor pre-order in. I'm still in love with MMC's Perfection Series Devastator. I have never bought an MP-scale combiner aside from upscaled 4th-party sets. Will this finally be my first? Something I should love and just don't is the new Origins 4-pack. I love factions and troop builders, but these are just not jiving for me. For Star Wars, there's only grumping. Why the hell are we getting a much-wanted 21-back character in the Vintage Collection on a Deluxe card?

In this episode, we go through the pathophysiology of hydrogen sulfide (H₂S)-dominant small intestinal bacterial overgrowth (SIBO), focusing on its role in intestinal motility disruption, microbial dysbiosis, and epithelial barrier dysfunction. We detail the interplay between the enteric nervous system (ENS), interstitial cells of Cajal (ICCs), and migrating motor complex (MMC) in regulating small intestinal transit and how excess H₂S modulates smooth muscle activity, inflammatory signaling, and gastrointestinal transit time. Lastly, we detail symptoms and related SIBO subtypes.Topics:1. Introduction to Hydrogen Sulfide Dominant SIBO - Overview of hydrogen sulfide (H₂S) SIBO - Sulfate as an electron acceptor - H₂S production, sulfur-containing amino acids - Physiological roles of H₂S vs. in excess 2. Hydrogen Sulfide and Gastrointestinal Motility - Impact on transit time - Association with IBS-like symptoms, diarrhea 3. Intestinal Motility and Regulation - Role of the ENS, ICCs, smooth muscle cells, and neurotransmitters in motility 4. The Enteric Nervous System (ENS) and Gut Motility - ENS as the "second brain" and its control over digestion - Myenteric and submucosal plexuses: regulation of peristalsis, secretion, blood flow - Gut-brain axis involvement via vagus nerve signaling - ICCs as pacemaker cells generating slow-wave electrical activity - MMC's role in clearing debris and bacteria 5. Dysregulated Motility and SIBO Development 6. Overlapping Symptoms Across SIBO Subtypes - Shared symptoms - Hydrogen and H₂S-dominant SIBO vs. IMO 7. Gastric Acid and Its Role - HCl secretion by parietal cells and its role in digestion and microbial defense - Hypochlorhydria and bacterial overgrowth 8. Hey gang, we are back, all 3 of us, for the first time in a long time. On this one we all sit down and discuss the new Clint Eastwood film - Juror #2. Does Clint, who is now in his nineties, still have that Eastwood touch? Well the only way you are gonna know, is to listen on and find out. Whilst this is only an hour or so long, we are getting our footing again, or in layman's terms - we are rusty AF We also address why the heck we have been missing so long, and why 2024 was a year to forget in the history of the MMC. Oh and there are some tangents in there too - we gotta have them tangents. Enjoy.

Our last one for the year babyyyyyy
This week's EYE ON NPI is an EYE ON A PI - it's the Raspberry Pi Compute Module 5 (https://www.digikey.com/en/product-highlight/r/raspberry-pi/raspberry-pi-compute-module-5), the latest update to the easily embeddable mini modules that make industrial developers happy by giving them all the power of a Pi 5 in a ready-to-go pluggable solution. The Raspberry Pi computer launched with the goal of bringing low cost computing to the education market (https://www.bbc.co.uk/blogs/thereporters/rorycellanjones/2011/05/a_15_computer_to_inspire_young.html) and through the Pi Foundation (https://www.raspberrypi.org/) they still have that charitable goal (https://static.raspberrypi.org/files/about/RaspberryPiFoundationStrategy2025.pdf) while also spinning off the manufacturing/sales company into the Trading Company which went public this year (https://www.raspberrypi.org/blog/what-would-an-ipo-mean-for-the-raspberry-pi-foundation/). The first few Raspberry Pi computers were 'all in one' style (https://www.adafruit.com/product/1344), with power, GPIO, Video and Audio output, USB, Ethernet, and Micro SD card storage (https://raspi.tv/2018/new-raspberry-pi-family-photo-including-pi3a-plus-zero-wh). Eventually enough folks asked for an enclosure-friendly version that would allow an "I/O" board to be designed with the ports in a different arrangement - the big-sized-Pis have them arrayed over 3 sides. To solve this conundrum, and to satisfy the growing industrial/commercial market, the Pi engineers designed the Compute Module 1 which is still available (https://www.raspberrypi.com/products/compute-module-1/). This clever SODIMM packaged board has all the GPIO and peripheral pins on a plug-in connector so you can slot it into an existing design securely and easily - SODIMM sockets (https://www.digikey.com/short/rz9cdjrn) come both vertical and horizontal. This was later updated to the CM3 and CM3+ (https://www.digikey.com/en/products/detail/raspberry-pi/SC0149/9866293) which was on par with the Pi 3 instead of the Pi 1, with significantly higher computational power. However, perhaps because they wanted a more compact module, or to support high-frequency signals better, the next generation of Compute Module 4's (https://www.digikey.com/short/wffzdn0b) came in a flat rectangular shape with dual 100-pin Hirose contacts. (https://www.digikey.com/short/5m8djf0t) Another nice thing that happened with the CM4 is it became available in dozens of configurations: 1/2/4/8 GB RAM, SD or 8/16/32GB MMC, and with or without WiFi/BLE/BT. This allowed commercial users to go with the 'lowest cost option' needed to fulfill their requirements - whereas the Pi 4 comes in only 3 or 4 RAM options (https://www.digikey.com/short/4pn5vw24). The ready-to-go software - no kernel compiling or OpenWRT configuration required! Long-term hardware support and low prices pushed the CM4 into more and more designs. Which brings us to the NPI of the week, the Compute Module 5 (https://www.digikey.com/en/product-highlight/r/raspberry-pi/raspberry-pi-compute-module-5)! The CM5 is a big upgrade, with quad A76s at 2.4GHz for a 2x computing upgrade, increased RAM options of up to 16G, increased MMC option of 64GB, USB 3.0 ports, PCIe and RP1 hardware interfacing with PIO support (https://www.raspberrypi.com/news/piolib-a-userspace-library-for-pio-control/). If you have an existing CM4 design, you can easily upgrade or update to the new hotness. If you're new to integrating Raspberry pi, then while you may think of the Pi as a hobby/school computer, that isn't necessarily true anymore with 72% of Pi computers sold going into commercial/industrial use (https://investors.raspberrypi.com/ipo/documents/1). That means you can be confident that you'll get consistent pricing and availability for a long time so that you can work on designing the rest of your product for the CM series to plug into. And like the CM4, the CM5 is available in a variety of configurations and prices, from $45 to $135. Raspberry Pi Compute Module 5's are currently only available for pre-order (https://www.digikey.com/en/product-highlight/r/raspberry-pi/raspberry-pi-compute-module-5) , with estimated ship times in Q1 of 2025 to DigiKey - and the moment DigiKey gets some in stock, they'll ship your pre-order instantly so you can get integrating with the Pi ecosystem the very next day. Don't wait till release day because they'll sell out instantly! Instead, when you pre-order from DigiKey, your order goes into a queue and you'll get first-come-first-served prioritization. See more on DigiKey https://www.digikey.com/short/47t12drj
