Together, they reflect on how this experience produced a new body of work and the opportunity to explore the foundations archives. During her residency at the Albers Foundation, Cawthorn immersed herself in collage of birds and particularly focussed on the work of Anni Albers. Sharp engaged directly with the legacy of Josef Albers, exploring how colour, geometry and perception can reveal new ways of seeing the landscape by painting on Albers book on colour, reinterpreting the pages for himself. Michelle Cawthorn – BioMichelle Cawthorn is a Sydney-based multidisciplinary artist whose practice is rooted in drawing and extends across collage, painting, sculpture and installation. Her work explores memory, identity and belonging through an autobiographical lens, often using repetition, pattern and sensory triggers to evoke fragments of experience.Cawthorn holds undergraduate degrees in Fine Art and Art Education from the University of New South Wales, and completed a PhD in Fine Arts in 2021. She has held numerous solo exhibitions and participated in over sixty group shows across Australia. Her work is represented by OLSEN Gallery, Sydney.Peter Sharp – BioPeter Sharp is an Australian artist whose practice has, for more than three decades, investigated how the natural world can be understood through abstraction. Working across drawing, painting, printmaking and sculpture, Sharp captures the structural and rhythmic essence of nature rather than its surface appearance.He holds a Bachelor of Art Education from the City Art Institute (now UNSW Art & Design) and a Master of Fine Arts from UNSW. Albers graduated from Marymount University in Arlington, VA, with a BA in Interior Design and immediately began working in the Washington metro area's commercial and corporate design segment. In 2017, Jill moved to her family's home state of Maine so she could start working for Interface. In 2019, she was awarded the Ray C Anderson Sustainability Award, an honor given by the Ray C. Anderson Foundation to a member of the Interface sales team who actively demonstrates their commitment to Interface's Mission Zero and Climate Take Back mission in their career and personal lives. In 2023, she was asked to join the Global Sustainability Council for Interface, an internal group from all facets of the Interface business. She was tasked with inspiring and influencing the company's sustainability path forward. Elly is the founder of the Bonaire Wild Bird Rehab, and owner of the Mangrove Info Center (Kayak and Boat Excursions) on the beautiful island of Bonaire.  When researching this episode, we were so pleased to find that flamingos are native to Bonaire, one of our most favorite places in the world, and then learning of the Wild Bird Rehab where flamingos and other birds were being cared for was a total bonus!  Originally from the Netherlands, Elly moved to Bonaire and worked in the animal shelters.  She ultimately started her business the Mangrove Info Center, where Elly and her team guide Kayak and Snorkel Tours. Then after a sudden need in 2018, she founded Bonaire Wild Bird Rehab.  On a recent holiday to Bonaire, Kate was lucky enough to meet Elly and get a tour of the facility.
