Welcome back to another episode of Racin’ With The Boys. This week we have the defending NASCAR Cup Series champion, Kyle Larson join us from San Diego. This was recorded before the NASCAR race in Coronado so he joined us via Zoom. The boys immediately get into Kyle’s love for racing and how it seems like he is hopping in a car every single day. This brings up the conversation of how do NASCAR contracts work with allowing drivers to race in other types of series/cars which is a very interesting conversation. The boys and Kyle now have a mutual friend in William Byron so the guys ask Kyle what Byron is like behind the scenes. Will asks the hard hitting question of, which Larson kid is the best at racing now. It takes Kyle a bit to answer the question but the answer may surprise you. Staying on the Larson family, Kyle’s wife Katelyn, is known to shotgun a beer or two after big wins. The guys ask Kyle how that all started and whether or not she continues to do so after each win. Finally the guys end off the show looking ahead at Sonoma this weekend and what it felt like for Kyle being the cover athlete for the new NASCAR 26 video game. All in all, this is another fun interview showing more of the personality of one of the best drivers in the sport of NASCAR, enjoy. 0:00 Intro3:51 Why Are You Always Racing?7:03 The Change In Testing/Practice 10:35 How Important Is SIM Racing? 16:15 Byron Larson relationship 17:54 How Do NASCAR Contracts Work With Racing In Other Series?20:25 Does Kyle Help William Byron With dating Advice?24:57 Which Of The Larson Kids Have IT?29:36 Kyle’s Wife Is A Beer Shotgun Queen32:34 Superstitions?36:07 Cracking Chase Elliott38:51 Sonoma Race Predictions39:44 Thoughts On Carson Hocevar42:56 NASCAR 26 Video Game Cover Athlete 44:30 Thoughts On Talladega Nights45:20 Becoming The Veteran/Older Guy In The Cup Series See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.

Welcome to Chapel City Church! We have worked through some very familiar territory for most of Hebrews 11. Giants of the faith have lived obediently, providing stories that most of us are familiar with. This week we will begin to work through some lives that might be less familiar to us. The faith is the same, but the circumstances aren’t necessarily what we would expect. Why would God highlight the faith of fearful men? Why call attention to people who […]

Larson's research focuses on Christian nationalism in U.S. military chaplaincy, giving her both personal experience and academic grounding for this conversation.Military chaplains serve at one of the most complicated intersections of church and state. They are religious leaders inside a government institution, but their job is supposed to protect the spiritual care of every service member, including people of different faiths and no faith at all.Larson explains how chaplains are trained, why endorsing bodies and faith codes matter, and what happens when spiritual care shifts toward proselytizing or political theology. The conversation covers religious pluralism, Wiccan and humanist recognition, Cold War civil religion, post-9/11 evangelical influence, and the growing concern over Christian nationalism inside military culture. We call grocery workers “essential” — right up until it's time to pay them. In this episode, Nicole sits down with journalist, activist, and author Ann Larson to unpack the hidden realities of low-wage labor, economic inequality, and the corporate systems keeping millions of workers struggling to survive. Drawing from her experience working as a grocery store cashier during the pandemic, Ann shares what most consumers never see: workers skipping meals, elderly employees unable to retire, women wearing diapers behind registers because breaks are denied, and employees lacking basic healthcare while generating billions for major corporations. Ann Larson is a journalist and activist whose work on education debt and low-wage labor has appeared in The New Republic, The Nation, Fast Company, and The Chronicle of Higher Education. She's the co-author of Can't Pay Won't Pay: The Case for Economic Disobedience and Debt Abolition and author of Clean Up on Aisle Five, a powerful look inside the realities of supermarket labor in America. In this episode, Nicole and Ann discuss: Why there's no such thing as “unskilled labor” The hidden emotional and technical skills required in grocery work How corporate consolidation impacts wages, communities, and poverty rates The connection between consumer spending and worker treatment Why unionization and antitrust laws matter more than most people realize How economic inequality affects all of us — not just low-wage workers What shoppers can do to support ethical labor practices Why voting with your dollars matters Because if people working full-time jobs still can't afford food, healthcare, or retirement, the system isn't broken — it's working exactly as designed. The loss of a crop is awful. The loss of a tradition, even more painful. This year's erratic weather has caused some Wisconsin strawberry growers to rethink their plan. Kiley Allan gets the story from Danielle Clark of Mayberry Farms in Mayville. Their strawberry harvest is over before it started. They have pick-your-own strawberries, honeybees, row crops, and a newly planted apple orchard, backyard livestock collection of chickens and show lambs, makes skincare with farm grown ingredients such as strawberries, beeswax, tallow and lard. Agronomist believes Phytophthora attacked their plants - putting an end to their season before it started. Clark says they had a little last year, but removed diseased plants but because soil doesn't drain well and the spring was cool and wet it accelerated it to a total loss. One of their brand pillars is authenticity, so Danielle felt it was important to give the community an open and honest announcement that they would not have pick your own strawberries this year. She felt it was important to give enough time to digest the information and determine where they will go instead. The farm was met with an overwhelming amount of support from the community. The farm will convert the affected soil to an apple orchard expansion. Rain is just starting to move into Wisconsin this morning. Stu Muck says it'll hang around through the day Friday, but allow for a beautiful weekend of drier weather. What do Wisconsin livestock owners need to think about regarding New World Screw Worm? Curt Larson, president and CEO of Equity Livestock Sales Association in Baraboo feels confident that Texas has the insect under control. Larson says market disruption so far has been minimal. He also says the chances of the insect making it to Wisconsin are thin. Still, for Wisconsin livestock operators that house/grow/breed their animals in other states, thinking through possible quarantine restrictions is not a bad plan. Pam Jahnke visits with Larson. The state's largest outdoor agriculture event depends on volunteers, weather and commercial exhibitors. How's the 2026 show coming together? Stephanie Hoff gets a preview from Janet Keller, general manager, Wisconsin Farm Technology Days. Wisconsin Farm Technology Days is currently managing a "critical mass" of calls from potential exhibitors and sponsors to build the schedule and finalize the official program. The organization recently expanded its small staff by hiring Kate Borren as program coordinator and Abby George to handle financial bookkeeping. Unlike most other agricultural shows, this event moves to a different site within the state. Reorganized in 2023 as a 501(c)(3) non-profit, the show’s mission focuses on education and resources for agriculture, health, safety, and food sourcing for both farmers and consumers. The event requires a minimum of 200 acres to host—ideally on a modern dairy farm—and must be booked several years in advance so host farms can properly adjust their crop rotation schedules. The event logo changes every year to reflect the host county's unique identity. For 2026, the logo features the outline of Marathon County, the town of Stratford, and dairy cows representing the host farm, No Joke Dairy.See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.
On episode 259, we welcome Ann Larson to discuss her experience working as a grocery cashier during the COVID-19 pandemic, the complex emotional and structural factors involved in professional success and failure, meritocracy as a simplification of economic outcomes, the multiple forms of labor involved in supermarket work, the difference between one's status and skillset, food waste at the expense of wages, and the importance of community in surviving low wage work. We're joined by Dr Greger Larson of Oxford University who specialises in studying Ancient DNA, discussing the remains of a jawbone, which proved that dogs were living with humans in Britain almost 15,000 years ago. As a landmark find with DNA confirming its identity as not being a wolf, it proves that humans and dogs were co-habiting more than 5,000 years earlier than previously thought. At a time before humans had become farmers, these dogs clearly played a big part in these human communities, with proof they were even buried beside their people - man's best friend. From the first Piggly Wiggly to automated self-checkout machines, the supermarket is a microcosm of modern food systems, labor, and the idea of convenience. On today's pledge drive edition of A Public Affair, host Bert Zipperer speaks with Ann Larson about her book, Cleanup on Aisle Five: Essential Work, Poverty Wages, and the View from Behind the Supermarket Register. Larson got a job at a supermarket at the outset of the COVID pandemic after spending a few years on the margins of the professional class in New York City. She worked for over a year at a grocery store before leaving and writing her book. Her main takeaway from that experience is that there is no such thing as unskilled labor. Supermarket cashiers, like herself, need patience, technical and communication skills, product knowledge, and more. They're also likely to develop repetitive stress and muscular-skeletal disorders, workplace injuries that increasingly go un-investigated due to cuts to OSHA. The second lesson of Larson's book is that all laborers have dignity. When workers–like cashiers–are underpaid, they become devalued. In our culture, status is tied to pay, but Larson wants to bust the myth that so-called “low-skilled” workers deserve low pay. She says that unfortunately we seemed to have quickly forgotten the lessons about essential work that the pandemic taught us. From her time cashiering, Larson saw the supermarket function as a community space where people could escape from the heat or cold, for example. But it's also a place of precarious labor. On top of that, the shift to self-checkout machines in the name of “convenience” shifted labor from their employees to their customers. They also discuss the issue of Piggly Wiggly, the lack of unionization among retail workers, and the need to enforce anti-trust laws. Note: This pledge drive interview was edited to remove parts of the show dedicated to station fundraising. We thank our listeners for their generous support. Ann Larson's writing on education, debt, and low-wage work has appeared in The New Republic, The Chronicle of Higher Education, Fast Company, and The Nation, among other publications. As the Colorado River approaches a pivotal moment facing historically low flows and record-breaking shortages, decisions made in 2026 will help determine the future of water, energy, and economic security across the American West. Today, Ten Across Conversations shares an episode from Arizona State University's Labcoat Optional podcast, featuring Ten Across friend and water law expert Rhett Larson. With existing Colorado River operating agreements approaching expiration, stakeholders across seven states, tribal nations, and two countries are grappling with how to manage a resource that faces increasing pressure from aridification and competing demands. Larson explains why these negotiations are among the most consequential water policy discussions in decades and what they reveal about the challenges ahead for communities throughout the Southwest.Drawing connections between water governance, urban development, climate adaptation, and regional resilience, Lab Coat Optional host Pete Zroika chats with Larson to explore how long-foreseen challenges in the Colorado River Basin are becoming a present-day reality—and why rethinking our assumptions about growth and sustainability may be essential for the future.Guest BioRhett Larson is a Professor of Law and the Richard Morrison Professor of Water Law at the Sandra Day O'Connor College of Law, where his research focuses on the impact of technological innovation on water rights regimes, particularly transboundary waters, and the sustainability implications of a human right to water. Get Ann's book here: https://www.simonandschuster.com/.../Ann.../9781668094501 Informed by her time behind the register, Cleanup on Aisle Five is Larson's deep dive into supermarkets and how they operate from the inside out: from the low-wage workers stocking the shelves and the customers coming through at all hours, to the communities these stores serve and the larger capitalist forces and corporate interests at play that control how we shop for food. This week we sat down with menopause and mental fitness coach Sara Larson to cut through the noise around midlife, from quick‑fix promises and supplement stacks to rigid “shoulds” about how we're supposed to look, feel, and age, and offer better solutions for navigating this challenging transition. Drawing on her own brutal perimenopause—crushing joint pain, brain fog so bad she joined an Alzheimer's study, suffocating anxiety and depression—Sara shares how she went from feeling like everything was coming apart to becoming a menopause navigator, helping women walk into the doctor's office “ready,” advocate for themselves, and understand their treatment plans. We dig into grief, weight gain and body image, the spiritual and identity unraveling of menopause, and the grounding power of outdoor experiences that reconnect you with strength and embodiment. This is a conversation about gentleness as strength and learning to ask for something different in the second half of life.Sara Larson is a menopause life coach, educator, and speaker who helps women cut through misinformation and access evidence-based menopause care. She specializes in advocacy, education, and community-building, supporting women through perimenopause and postmenopause with clarity, confidence, and a healthy sense of humor. Genetic testing is no longer a distant, specialized tool reserved for rare disease clinics or academic centers. It's showing up in pediatric practice. For example, pediatricians are increasingly considering genetic diagnoses in children with developmental delays outside the normal range. A NICU graduate may already carry a genetic diagnosis when they see their pediatrician after discharge. What does the practicing pediatric provider need to understand about ordering and interpreting genetic tests? In this episode, we unpack how community pediatricians can make sense of the world of genomics. Joining us for this robust conversation are Austin Larson, MD, and Margarita Saenz, MD. Dr. Larson is a pediatric medical and biochemical geneticist. He is the Medical Director of Precision Medicine Clinical Informatics, as well as the Director of the Mitochondrial Care Network Clinic at Children's Hospital Colorado. Dr. Saenz specializes in clinical genetics and dysmorphology. She is the Medical Director of Precision Medicine Education and Family Engagement. They both are faculty members at the University of Colorado School of Medicine. Some highlights from this episode include: Recent advances making genetic testing more accessible to patients How the rise of exome and genome sequencing has changed the diagnostic approach in pediatrics Secondary findings and how they should be discussed in advanced Practical advice for a pediatrician who feels overwhelmed to order and interpret these tests For more information on Children's Colorado, visit: childrenscolorado.org.
In this returning episode of The Concussion Coach Podcast, host Bethany Lewis (The Concussion Coach) reconnects with Sharik Peck and Katyrra Larson to explore the latest developments with the Rezzimax PainTuner—an external vagus nerve stimulator that uses gentle resonance (in the frequency range of a cat's purr) to calm the nervous system. Sharik shares exciting updates, including a new Philippines-based study using the device to help breast cancer patients manage stress, pain, and GI dysfunction, as well as ongoing TMJ research in the US. The conversation dives into innovative applications of the tool: a new mouthpiece attachment for cranial nerve stimulation (helping a brain-injured patient regain speech and focus), and scraping techniques that combine vibration with myofascial release. Katyrra provides practical calming strategies for acute anxiety and startle responses (including humming with the tongue between the teeth). Sharik also shares a powerful trauma release protocol (Stress Down Regulation/Resilience program) that combines breathing, flexor engagement, and sensory input to help the brain reorganize traumatic memories—a protocol that does not require the device but is accelerated by it. The episode emphasizes nervous system regulation as the cornerstone of concussion recovery, and Bethany shares her personal enthusiasm for the tool, including a listener discount and money-back guarantee.Resources Mentioned by the GuestsRezzimax PainTuner (and the "Mini" version)Rezzimax Mouthpiece Attachment (for oral/cranial nerve stimulation)Recipes (Protocols) Library – Found on the Rezzimax website (video + written steps)Whole Body De-Stress rezzipe: https://rezzimax.com/pages/rezzipes-whole-body-destressStress Down Regulation / Resilience program (trauma release): https://rezzimax.com/pages/rezzipes-stress-down-regulationMoro reflex protocol (for startle response): https://rezzimax.com/pages/rezzipes-primitive-reflexes-moro-startle-reflexRezzimax YouTube Channel – Contains the trauma release presentation and all instructional videos https://www.youtube.com/@RezzimaxDiscussed Practitioners & Concepts:Dr. James Sheen & Dr. Edward Chauvin – protocols for addressing dormant fungi/molds/virusesDr. Sean Drake – breathwork for high-level performersAndrew Byrne – work with "singing athletes" and cranial nervesGua sha & Astym (scraping techniques enhanced with vibration)Contact & Discount Information from the ConversationRezzimax Purchase & Discount Code: https://rezzimax.com/?ref=BethanyLewis Use code BethanyLewis in the discount section for $75 offRezzimax Money-Back Guarantee: Available if you try it and don't love itPrevious Episodes Referenced: Episode 47 (Sharik alone) and Episode 76 (Sharik & Katira)RezziMax Website & Recipe Access: rezzimax.com Trauma Release Protocol Location: RezziMax website → Recipes → Emotional Clearing → "Stress Down Regulation or Resilience program"Previous episodes with Sharik peck:1. Editor, teacher, and shepherd Kate Larson makes the case that every knitter is already part of the farm-to-fiber story—whether they know it or not. Kate Larson is the editor of Farm & Fiber Knits and a beloved teacher of spinning, knitting, and weaving. She took time out from lambing season to talk about the magazine's goals. Kate Larson isn't making a magazine only for farmers and handspinners. In this episode, she talks about what Farm & Fiber Knits is really for: helping knitters connect with the natural fibers they love. Whether you're buying wool at a yarn store, tracking down a small-batch skein at a farmers market, or dreaming about rare fibers from around the world, Kate makes the case that you're already part of this story—you just might not know it yet. When developing new issues of the magazine, she looks for stories to bring that world to life, with armchair journeys to fiber traditions as far afield as the Faroe Islands and Madagascar. The magazine's patterns are designed to work for any contemporary knitter using a wide range of yarns from one-of-a-kind to available everywhere. Nearly twenty years of teaching have shaped Kate's approach to designing the new Farm & Fiber Knits retreats, including a recent trip to farms in New Hampshire and Vermont where participants met shepherds, handled fleeces, and watched the connection between knitter and fiber come to life in participants' hands. Listen in to hear Kate push back on the myth that sheep are stupid, learn what Farm & Fiber Knits offers for knitters at every point on the natural-fiber spectrum, and hear the story of a shepherd seeing yarn from her own flock for the very first time.
