Podcasts for people with no idea what they're doing, by people with no idea what they're doing.
It's time, once again, to talk Wrestlemania. This year, it's a special one! Not because of big returns, though those happened. Not because of never-before-seen type matches, though those happened. No, this year it's special because it's the Wrestlemania that should never have happened!
Hoooo boy was this one an editing feat of (adeptus )titanic(us) proportions! As you can probably tell from Kyrie's reference to "the three hour mark" roughly two and a half hours in. Sparing you lots of hemming and hawing, dice rolls, repetition of lists and rules and to be quite honest a lot of 'thinking time' the Dangerously Unprepared crew take you through a real-world character creation for the RPG "Only War" based on Games Workshop's 40k universe.
An episode from the archives! This file was recently discovered during some computer archaeology by Simon and while it's been mentioned on the show it's never actually been released. A little piece of history from before the coronavirus to keep our spirits up while Simon gets his shit together to edit new episodes.
Diamonds, hyenas, cocaine, violence, music and the female gaze. But enough about the hosts' lives. This week we're talking about the most unusual gem of comic book movies, Birds of Prey and the Fantabulous Emancipation of One Harley Quinn
Some of us are gay for robots. Some of our listeners are gay for robots. Some of our listeners are also people who have been guests before, suggested robot related topics for us to talk about and were free on extremely short notice to talk about artificial and created life with us! Well. I say 'some' I mean one, really. Anyway, we're talking about artificial and constructed life, a topic of which we're all rather fond!
This week we're here to talk about one very evil Catgirl. And some other characters, I guess. Because an evil Catgirl needs heroes to fight. So why not Princesses? Princesses of Power, perhaps.
We're back! Stumbling back into your ears with a new podcast. We're here with absolutely no agenda and no plan. So situation normal. Apologies for some sound quality oddities in this one but it's a new setup, a new microphone and a tired editor. Some rough edges left to polish.
In which our heroes talk at too great a length about Wrestlemania before finally getting around to talking about the gift that was two Captain Marvel movies in the same month.
A scatter-shot catch-up of an episode in which we talk about gaming, tv, movies and wrestling. And a bit more wrestling. Also the Umbrella Academy, quite a lot too!
35 - If You Bite It And You Get Sick Its Poisonous by Dangerously Unprepared
Jack, Simon & Kyrie gather to discuss their vague recollections of 2019's Royal Rumble PPV. But if wrestling isn't your thing, we have good news for you! They almost forgot to talk about it at all. This episode is mostly a discussion of the Resident Evil 2 remake, Assassin's Creed Odyssey and DC's Titans. And the Rumble. A bit.
33 - Both Collectable and Limited by Dangerously Unprepared
Simon and Jack give their (belated) views on Into The Spiderverse! Sorry for the delay on this one but hopefully we should be back on track! But take that as the Dangerously Unprepared optimism that it is. ;)
Jack, Kyrie and Simon look back over the games and movies of the year gone by and look a little into the future at what's coming in 2019. Merry Christmas!
Join Simon, Jack & Kyrie as we talk about the Rocky / Creed franchise. It's all about entertainment derived from pretending to do combat sports in a ring tonight, with Simon giving an update on Pro Wrestling Eve's Shevivor Series and the future of NXT UK talent's contracts' impact on the indie scene.
Simon is joined by Kyrie, Jack and Zoe to discuss a topic suggested on the discord by cwinds0r. Namely, which characters do you really care about and get invested in? Of course, there's a lot to talk about first! Apologies for slight sound issues in this one, background noise and laptop microphones proved difficult to wrangle. And apologies that Zoe's goodbye was lost in the recording. Credit to anyone who gets the title reference ;)
Jack, Kyrie and Simon sit down to talk about the nonsense happening over at White Wolf, what the IP's future might hold now that Paradox Interactive own them and also, Pokemon.
Jack and Simon were very tired and had nothing to talk about, so they talked about nothing for a bit over an hour. Indie Womens' Wrestling, Pokemon, Twitch, Detective Pikachu, Overwatch, this one's all over the place but we think we managed to pull something together. As promised in the show, here's some links! Wrestle Queendom: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ETBcUtaO7uY The Car incident from Friday 13th: https://clips.twitch.tv/ColorfulInventiveSlothNerfBlueBlaster Detective Pikachu: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1roy4o4tqQM Battle Angel Alita: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cislZ9S0ocA
Kyrie and Simon are left to their own devices by Jack and Rob this week so, naturally, they turn to wrestling. Womens' wrestling, specifically. Join them as they discuss the Mae Young Classic, Evolution and, in general, the bizarre phenomenon that is the WWE seeming to care about women.
This week Jack concludes his journey through the lore of Castlevania, which takes us through some of the more unexpected elements of Castlevania canon. Happy Halloween!
Jack has been delving into the history of the Castlevania franchise, in a throwback to some old school World 1 Stage 1 style video game nostalgia. The question is whether Kyrie and Simon can keep their shit together long enough to let him talk about it. No prizes for guessing.
It's Spooptober which means Spoopyween is upon us. Jack, Kyrie and Simon talk about spooky scary things like The Expanse, Seoul Station, Vampire Bloodlines, The Shining and lots more besides.
Join Jack, Simon and Kyrie for a discussion on the prevalence of 'mini' versions of classic home consoles. Nostalgic fun? Shameless exploitation of intellectual property by greedy corporations? Not to spoil things, but it can be both.
Take to the skies of New York on your web lines with Jack and Simon as they explore the sights, scenes and organised crime of New York City as Spider-Man.
Join us as we spend some time being well and truly dangerously unprepared. Tonight we challenge each other to name our top 5... somethings. You'll have to listen to find out what.
Apologies for the audio being slightly off in this one, what you're hearing is the audio extracted from our twitch stream rather than our usual recording. If you listen to the whole episode you'll find out why. ;) This week Jack, Kyrie and Simon sit down to talk about Cyberpunk, both as a genre and an upcoming video game.
And you thought we were back to our old ways! No, we've got an episode for you this Monday it's just a bit late is all. Jack, Simon and most of a Kyrie settle in for a belated discussion of the best luck-based Superhero film of all time, Deadpool 2.
If you're a listener to our live streams at twitch.tv/dangerouslyunprepared at Wednesdays 8pm (UK Time) you might notice this one's out of sequence! But as this one's about something that happened last weekend we thought we'd move it up the order! And if you're not a listener to our livestreams at twitch.tv/dangerouslyunprepared maybe you can make this shameless plug worth while and go and follow us there!
Join Simon and Jack for a discussion of arcade games on the piers, but mostly Ni No Kuni 2.
In which Kyrie and Simon recount the trials and tribulations of attending, and running, a fan convention on a university campus in the heart of Warwickshire. For the curious, the fandom demographics panels from both Minami and Ame are available on YouTube. See! I remembered! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Mj7Je8SNJV4 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OcO8bcACKRs
This is a short one and a messy one. What you're hearing here is the recovered, listenable portions of a technical mess of a recording session. Still... you wanted us back, apparently. This is what you get!
Recorded a year ago, Jack and Simon dive into the sweaty world of professional wrestling after watching Wrestlemania 33. Hear how wrong we were about the debut date of the WWE UK show. Hear how wrong we were about Enzo and Cass not being garbage people. Hear how right we were about Lucha Underground being absurdly great.
Don't call it a comeback, we're just over a year late releasing this one. In which our heroes, recording back in the mists of history (April 2017) discuss Mass Effect: Andromeda. A game we decided we liked significantly more than EA did, as it turns out. (We hope you like Simon and Rob, because this is pretty much a duologue)
In which our heroes go completely off script to talk about Nier Automata, Thor Ragnarok and Star Wars... which wasn't what we meant to talk about at all.
In which our heroes look at the wealth of movie trailers coming out before remembering there was something they wanted to talk about. Iron Fist, and how it's bad.
In which our heroes look over the first two years of Rick and Morty. Re-experience all the laughs and trauma with us. (If parts of the discussion, especially towards the end, give the impression that this episode is coming out really, really late? Blame Mass Effect Andromeda and Nier Automata)
In which our heroes discuss the realm of fan created works, kind of forgetting that the podcast itself is one. Learn about the hosts' shady fan-fiction writing pasts.
In which our heroes, tired and weary, manage to pull their less-prepared-than-usual selves together to discuss some things they've been watching and playing before diving a little deeper into Nintendo's latest.
In which our heroes talk, at length, about a mysterious wizard who travels in time and space.
In which our heroes take a journey to Gotham having all fallen in love with a certain Lego movie.
In which our heroes talk about streaming TV. Netflix, Amazon Prime, Crunchyroll, CBS, Hulu, et al. And yes, Netflix originals include Marvel shows. And yes, those include Luke Cage. So yes, this episode includes the whitest people you can imagine discussing race issues in America so we apologise for that. Luke Cage looking amazing: http://dangerouslyunprepared.com/images/luke.jpg Ralph McQuarrie's Enterprise: http://dangerouslyunprepared.com/images/mcquarrie.jpg Star Trek Discovery's Ship Design: http://dangerouslyunprepared.com/images/discovery.png
In which our heroes take a nostalgic look at RPG games they've run or played in. Featuring vampires, far-future nano-tech magic, heresy, intellectual property theft and, yes, spods in a tin can fired into hell.
In which our heroes take a look at the games coming up in 2017, with a brief detour into proper Mongolian pronunciation. Pretty standard Dangerously Unprepared stuff, really.
In which our heroes begin a journey on a brand new endeavour, a show truly unlike any other. The former hosts of World 1 Stage 1 look ahead a the movies coming out in 2017. In a manner reminiscent of how the current hosts of World 1 Stage 1 took a look ahead at the movies coming out in 2016 last year. But remember, it's a brand new show.
In which our heroes talk about the last seven months, games they've played, things they've watched and spend most of the show not talking about why the episode is called 'Game Over'.
In which our heroes resolve a bet and discuss the finer points of the latest MCU offering. Also, Hasbro are making a cinematic universe. No. Really.
In which our heroes prepare to die, over and over again.
In which our heroes, having not spoken to each other in a while, take so long to get to the topic that they ended up making a show without an agenda. Next episode, we'll actually talk *about* something. Promise.
In which our heroes answer the question "Do you bleed... from the eyes when Zack Snyder makes a movie?"
In which our heroes step inside the squared circle looking to leave it all in the ring. In the run up to Wrestlemania, which came out the day before this podcast (oops), we talk WRASSLING.
In which our heroes talk many movies and finally get around to discussing the shuttering of Lionhead Studios, makers of Fable and Black and White.
