[Androne] reads like a high-end videogame on steroids with a destiny of Shakespearean magnitude.” Publishers Weekly wrote, “... taut intrigue … reels readers into a thrilling yet thoughtful narrative about the futility of war and the cost of doing the right thing…” [Discover The Writer Files Extra: Get 'The Writer Files' Podcast Delivered Straight to Your Inbox at writerfiles.fm] [If you're a fan of The Writer Files, please click FOLLOW to automatically see new interviews. Dwain Worrell is a filmmaker, traveler, and novelist. A Caribbean native who resettled in the US in the nineties, Dwain currently resides in Los Angeles where he works as a film and television writer and producer. His writing credits include Marvel's Iron Fist, CBS's Fire Country, Amazon Studios' The Wall, and the Disney+ series National Treasure, among others. ANDRONE by Dwain Worrell (September 1, 2023; 47North; Trade Paperback Original; $16.99, 978-1662511974): Humanity's new war is an enigma, with an enemy threat beyond all imagination, in this near-future novel of mind-blowing adventure where the fate of the world rests in the choices of one ordinary soldier. In one terrifying event called the Ninety-Nine, all major military installations on earth were eviscerated. But by whom? Foreign powers, AIs, ETs? Every conceivable adversary was ruled out. Reeling from massive casualties and amid hundreds of conspiracy theories, humanity creates Andrones: bipedal android drones piloted remotely by soldiers who will never again need to be on the field of battle. Newly minted Androne pilot Sergeant Paxton Arés has now been deployed into a fight against an enemy no one understands or has ever seen. Passing mostly uneventful days patrolling an unidentified desert, Paxton spends time communicating with his pregnant girlfriend back home and reflecting on his impending fatherhood. But as he is drawn deeper into military camaraderie and begins quickly rising up the ranks on the strength of his father's military legacy, Paxton starts to question the swirling rumors about the nature of the conflict. What he's encountered in the shifting dunes―something inexplicable, indomitable―fills him with the fear that whatever is out there is destined to win. Whether it's curiosity, ambition, or a newfound paternal instinct, Paxton has a driving need to understand the dangerous truths of this strange, invisible war. And the choices he must make have the power to change everything. Want to watch: YouTube Meisterkhan Pod. (Please Subscribe)

The hosts jump from one topic to another without providing propertransitions or clarity, leaving the listener feeling confused and disoriented. The lack of organization makes it difficult to follow the conversation, and itdetracts from the overall quality of the podcast. Moreover, the hosts often use offensive languageand make inappropriate jokes, which can be uncomfortable and offensive tolisteners. While humor is an important aspect of podcasts, it is crucial to besensitive and respectful towards all audiences. In this case, the hosts fail tostrike a balance and instead rely on inappropriate humor that can beinsensitive and hurtful to some listeners.Furthermore, the audio quality of the podcast issubpar. The sound is often muffled, and the volume levels vary significantlybetween different parts of the podcast, making it difficult to listen towithout adjusting the volume constantly. The poor audio quality adds to thelistener's frustration, detracting from the overall listening experience. In conclusion, "The Iron Fist and The VelvetGlove" falls short in terms of structure, offensive language, and audioquality. While the podcast may have potential, it needs significant improvementin these areas to be a successful and enjoyable listen. To financially support the Podcast you can make a per-episode donation via Patreon or donate through PaypalWe Livestream every Tuesday night at 7:30pm Brisbane time. EPISODE 325: Rey is back to look at a MOON WALK (Moon Knight but not in his run) and this time, it's another obscure issue, SUPERIOR SPIDER-MAN TEAM-UP VOL. 1 #1 (2013) by Christopher Yost . Always keen to delve into the obscure issues with Moony, Rey might have just potentially topped his last effort that had only a fleeting Moon Knight in a Black Panther issue... How does it stack up? Tune in to find out! PHASE OF THE MOON: Waning Gibbous SEGMENT: MOON WALK Superior Spider-Man Team-Up Vol. 1 #1 "A Day in Someone Else's Life" Release Date July 24, 2013 Cover Date September, 2013 Writer(s) Chris Yost Penciler(s) David López Inker(s) Andy Owens Colorist(s) Rachelle Rosenberg Letterer(s) Chris Eliopoulos Editor(s) Stephen Wacker BARE BONES (Written by Wiki): An organized group of criminals attempt to maul a couple in an alley, but Cloak and Dagger soon arrive. Before the dup can fight them, Spider-Man arrives, causing the criminals to run. Cloak shouts at Spider-Man, as they had the situation under control, but then Spidey punches Dagger. Later Spidey is seen fighting Daredevil. Seeing this on the news, Captain America informs the other Avengers that Spider-Man must be taken down for his recent attacks as well as his abnormal behavior over the past several weeks. In the meantime, Spider-Man is seen going after Gravity, Luke Cage, Iron Fist, and Ant-Man, each time with a big gun slung over his shoulder. The Avengers then arrive and start to attack Spider-Man, with Hulk and Thor eventually restraining him. Spidey tells Iron Man to not open his faceplate, but it is revealed that Stark is not even in the armor. Just then, Hyperion destroys the armor. Spider-Man reveals to the Avengers that Hyperion is possessed by Carrion. Carrion has been jumping from hero to hero in order to conquer with a hero's body (which is why Spider-Man was attacking the other heroes). Spider-Man must shoot Hyperion if Carrion is to be defeated. He and the Avengers fight Hyperion, but they don't trust Spidey to fire the gun, as they think that the blast will also kill Hyperion (which is what they think Spidey wants). Spider-Man says it won't, and Cap gives him permission to use the gun. Spidey fires, defeating Carrion and saving Hyperion. Though he has regained his trust in the Avengers, Spider-Man still does not see them as allies. He needs to have his own team, and it is revealed that he has captured several Sinister Six members in order to achieve whatever plan he is thinking of. Meanwhile, Carrion is talking to the Jackal about some plans. Their first step: kill Spider-Man. MOON RATING : Rey:

It's the Good Brothers special April Fools day episode as their "What If..." scenario has solidified itself as an annual tradition. Once again the hosts find themselves in the loosely connected Marvel Animated Universe of the 90s with the sentimental favorite Incredible Hulk crossover episode "Helping Hand, Iron Fist." Hear Cal & Liam share their nostalgic memories from the first time they saw this episode, the mystery of how this show ended up on the UPN network and why they love a good Tony Stark mullet. Other topics covered include the Lou Ferrigno's performance as the Hulk, poor sound mixing, the heroes' killer theme songs and the Rick Jones character as an identifiable hero for young viewers to appreciate. Plus the hosts compare the MCU and MAU's take on the Hulk's strength, the appearance of the Hulkbuster suit and the DCAU voicecast crossovers and connections. This episode is a valentine of sorts... an homage to the German-Argentinian artist, Grete Stern, and how she snuck her incredible tragicomic feminist photomontages into a dream interpretation column into a 1950's Buenos Aires ladies' magazine during the reign of Peron and his Iron Fist. Cackle along with me as I take a deeper look at her hilariously sly and poignant photomontage illustrations. I'll also explain what exactly a photomontage is and how she constructed them - because it is extremely fascinating! When the 1980s run of Marvel's Ka-Zar is canceled, our hero finds himself the king of the Land of Canceled Heroes! This multiverse is home to heroes who have had their comics canceled and believe it or not, we return to this earth again in issues of Silver Sable and the Wild Pack AND Deadpool. We discuss these visits, other meta comics, Mike Carlin's wedding proposal and more. Ep. 87 What if there was a Land of Canceled Comics / Heroes? Earth of a temporary designation 709 (Marvel Comics), as seen in Ka-Zar #34After previously covering Ka-Zar, Shanna and Zabu on episode 42 in an excellent What If, we return to the Savage Land to review the final issue in Ka-Zar's 1984 run involving aliens, adrenaline and a space zoo. But is this issue actual code for something bigger? As the issue closes, we seen in an epilogue that Ka-Zar is a comic book character and his cancelation brings him to the magical land of Canceled Comics! There he reigns over other (then) canceled titles/characters such as Nova, Spider-Woman, Man-Thing, Brother Voodoo, Howard the Duck, Deathlock and more. We actually return to this earth two more times, first in Silver Sable and the Wild Pack in 1995 where Silver Sable meets Luke Cage and a bevy of female heroes like She-Hulk and Ms. Marvel and again in 1999 with Deadpool when he ends up in a card game with Iron Fist, Moon Knight, DC Heroes and tons of Christopher Priest in jokes. All this plus a Marvel bullpen photo comic collage that doubles as a wedding proposal! Listen to our previous episodes discussing some other meta comics moments on our website. (We suggest Episodes 33, 45, 46, 51, and 72.)Reading List: Ka-Zar the Savage #34 (1984 Marvel Comics) Silver Sable and the Wild Pack #35 (1995 Marvel Comics) Deadpool #34 (1999 Marvel Comics) Plus Animal Man #25, Grimjack #27, and more!
