Episode 197 is the beginning of a bracket-style competition to determine the “worst chore,” where the hosts debate and seed 16 common chores based on their onerousness and unpleasantness. The discussion covers chores like cleaning gutters, setting the dinner table, raking leaves, handwashing dishes, shoveling snow, mowing the lawn, cleaning the grill, pulling weeds, cleaning the shower, dusting, and more. Throughout, the hosts share their individual experiences, grievances, and humorous takes on these chores, with occasional side discussions about family memories, vintage household equipment, and quirky cultural references such as nursery rhymes and old-fashioned customs like darning socks or using corn cobs in outhouses. Dan, Manny, & Billy put New Found Glory's Self-Titled pop-punk-emo “classic” to the ultimate test—THE NOSTALGIA TEST! “New Found Glory shoots their load on the first five songs of this album.” -Billy WARNING! This episode is a brutal takedown & nostalgic epiphany, so if you're sensitive to hearing your favorite band be taken to task then listen still and email us your opinions to thenostalgiatest@gmail.com. We also have a special audience member/guest who was on the Little Monsters episode, Andrew Breen (rocktapusjones). Theres so much talk about what it means to be a “classic” band, the groups we have to leave behind, and the ridiculous things that happen hanging out past 2am. Nostalgia definitely doesn't mean that things are good, and the guys get into that as well, and is emo-pop-punk a whole genre of dudes who were friend zoned, maybe. This gets talked about and so much more. So grab your oldest Warped Tour t-shirt, prep your voice for some unadulterated screaming, get ready to cry your heart out about that high school crush that “didn't want to ruin the friendship,” and join us on a nostalgic walk down a 2000s memory lane. Episode 195 begins with a discussion of the Live at 5! event which then shifts to a fun and nostalgic taste test comparing Oreo cookies with off-brand knockoffs, both plain and in truffle form. They admit to fumbling the truffle test, humorously describing the off-brand's unpleasant taste. This leads to an extended and playful detour into the world of "grandma's purse candy," nostalgic hard candies, and the quirky experiences of candy in purses — including the curious term “sucking candy” and the odd textures and flavors of various candies like Good and Plenty and branches nougats. The hosts continue with a spirited debate about licorice versus Twizzlers and Red Vines, exploring the nuances of candy types, brand rivalries, and personal preferences, alongside humorous commentary about candy nostalgia and childhood memories. They also touch on the cultural and historical context behind some candy choices and flavors.Brady then presents a topic involving “21 tweets/ideas that are both terrible and brilliant,” ranging from parking ticket tricks to social antics like faking a proposal to get free drinks. The hosts analyze each idea with humor and skepticism, debating the legality and morality of some while celebrating the cleverness of others. The episode concludes with a new interactive game called the “Heart and Brain Quiz Game with Yeti,” where hosts guess each other's answers to quirky hypothetical questions, adding a layer of fun and personal insight. The game showcases their personalities, preferences, and humor, with the yeti character providing absurd and comedic options. The hosts also reflect on neighborhood dynamics, skincare regimens, and personal quirks, sharing relatable stories and philosophies.### Highlights - [00:05:00]

Send us a textOkay, so here's the story: When the moon is destroyed in 1994, it ensures that “Mellon Collie and the Infinite Sadness” isn't just an album, but a way of life. Flashforward 2000 years where recognizable monuments are rusting, “Jaws 9” was a thing, and a group of heroes try to put right what once went wrong. Or, something like that. Here now is the story of how this super-science show came to Saturday Morning. Who were the post-apocalyptic creators of this show? Did “Star Wars” play a role in the creation of this series? Dan, Manny, & Billy put the 1987 quintessential 80s classic The Lost Boys to the ultimate test—THE NOSTALGIA TEST! “The amount of shoulder pads in this movie could start a football team.” -Manny In our 3rd Spooky Season episode, we are in peak 80s form a horror comedy classic. Ever wonder how Y2K pop culture shaped the way we see beauty, identity, and representation today? Jackie and Danielle from No More Late Fees sit down with author, musician, and cultural commentator Kaila Yu to dive into her powerful memoir Fetishize—a candid look at how media, race, and womanhood intertwined in the late '90s and early 2000s.In this episode, the trio gets nostalgic (and a little spicy) as they unpack: • How Memoirs of a Geisha and the early 2000s beauty ideals shaped an entire generation's self-image • Gwen Stefani's Harajuku era and the blurred line between homage and appropriation • Kaila's behind-the-scenes experience in Fast & Furious: Tokyo Drift and the hidden history of Asian representation in Hollywood • The toxic glamour of Y2K pop culture and the complicated love story between feminism and fame • Nostalgic shoutouts to Charlie's Angels, Britney Spears, and the best (and worst) fashion trends we still secretly loveIt's a funny, insightful, and refreshingly honest conversation that celebrates nostalgia while challenging the narratives that defined it.If you love pop culture deep dives, feminist commentary, and a trip down memory lane with plenty of laughs along the way, hit that subscribe button, leave us a review, and share your favorite moment from the episode! Keywords: Kaila Yu, No More Late Fees podcast, Y2K nostalgia, 2000s pop culture, Asian representation, Fast and Furious Tokyo Drift, Memoirs of a Geisha, Gwen Stefani Harajuku Girls, feminist podcast, celebrity memoirs, Britney Spears era, women in media—No More Late Fees https://nomorelatefeespodcast.com909-601-NMLF (6653)—Follow Us on Social:Instagramhttps://www.instagram.com/nomorelatefees TikTokhttps://www.tiktok.com/@nomorelatefees Facebookhttps://www.facebook.com/nomorelatefeesYoutubehttps://www.youtube.com/@nomorelatefees Twitterhttps://x.com/NoMoreLateFees —CONQUERingmyconquering.com10% Off Code: JACKIE10—Kaila YuInstagramhttps://www.instagram.com/kailayu/Websitehttps://kailayu.com/Order Fetishized: A Reckoning with Yellow Fever, Feminism, and Beautyhttps://amzn.to/4oBJ81a

Dan & Billy welcome Naomi Carmack, the host of Dope Nostalgia, to put Halloween Music Videos to the ultimate test—THE NOSTALGIA TEST! “Other people's kids are so creepy.” -Naomi This Spooky Season episode takes Dan, Billy, and their guest Naomi Carmack down a very weird music video path. 5-years ago, Dan & Manny put another five videos to the ultimate test, and so Dan had to really go searching for some real nostalgic gens this time. They dig into videos from The Backstreet Boys, the Ramones, Ozzy Osbourne, Rob Zombie, and DJ Jazzy Jeff & The Fresh Prince. Their spooky conversation covers everything from creepy children, Backstreet never really being gone, the power of Ozzy's absolute insanity, low budget videos vs high budget videos, the Emo spirit of late-80s Ramones, and what exactly is Dragula? Meevil the Weevil: Breakfast of Champions, 4min., USA Directed by Kyle Arneson Meevil the Weevil is a little bug with big dreams of being a stuntman. “Breakfast of Champions” mixes stop motion animation with live action footage where we follow Meevil's thrilling ride across a 1970s breakfast table on rocket roller skates. https://www.instagram.com/stunt.bug/ Get to know the filmmaker: What motivated you to make this film? The film came about after developing the character as a hesitant hero with big dreams of grandeur. It's strongly inspired by the stunt men and women of the 1970's and 80's that I found so captivating back when the world was a little more shag-carpeted and wood-paneled. During this initial creative period I lost my father unexpectedly and it was at some point in the haze of the grieving process I realized that the relationship between Meevil, and Olis, his coach, mirrored that of my relationship to my father. So with that guiding light, the ethos of the project became clear and bringing it to reality became a goal for me as a way to honor my dad. From the idea to the finished product, how long did it take for you to make this film? From idea to final prduct this film took 3 years to make. Nothing happens fast in stop motion animation, the puppet had to be designed and built, all of the props and sets were hand made and the entire film was shot one frame at a time. How would you describe your film in two words!? Nostalgic fun! Subscribe to the podcast: https://twitter.com/wildsoundpod https://www.instagram.com/wildsoundpod/ https://www.facebook.com/wildsoundpod

Our award winning duo meet a DJ and producer who knows a thing or two about acceptance speeches. Mark Ronson is a BRIT, Golden Globe, Grammy and Oscar-winning British-American DJ, record producer, musician and songwriter. He has added ‘author' to that list, too, with the release of his memoir, Night People, an account of becoming a DJ in ‘90s New York. The book is full of incredible stories and entertaining celebrity encounters, and you get a tasty sampler of them in our chat over roast chicken. We start the episode with a dirty vodka martini and a side of Monster Munch before a hearty roast chicken with fennel, shallot & white bean stew, appealing to Mark's love of Sunday roasts. This is paired with a glass of Vignerons Ardechois Viognier and served alongside tales of working with Paul McCartney and Lady Gaga and the joy Mark gets from being a dad. Mark and Nick's own friendship stretches back to the noughties, and nights out together with the likes of Adele and Amy Winehouse. Nostalgic memories are sparked across the table, including one involving a hungover Nick in New York and a party hosted by Leonardo DiCaprio. There's also time to celebrate Nick and Angela's gong for Best Hosts at this year's British Podcast Awards. We couldn't be prouder of them. Cheers! It's our Halloween Special, and we're doing something a little different (and possibly unwise): revisiting the first horror movies that scarred us for life and started our love affair with the genre.
Sometimes the best nights at Blockbuster weren't about the movies you rented — they were about the debates, sing-alongs, and trivia battles that broke out in the aisles. Expect hilarious off-the-cuff commentary, random tangents about K-dramas and Love Island Games, and plenty of hot takes on cult classics and forgotten gems.Along the way, they explore: • The wildest actor descriptions from Almost Famous and Ken's unforgettable guesses • Nostalgic movie moments that deserve their own sing-alongs (Mr. Holland's Opus, That Thing You Do, School of Rock) • Why Jason Lee deserves his own cinematic universe • Behind-the-scenes facts, music-fueled memories, and the perfect “Employee Picks” from Nick's Blockbuster brain • Pop culture rabbit holes — from Dexter: Resurrection to BBC's Sherlock — that prove no fandom topic is off-limitsIf you love movie trivia, quotable chaos, and revisiting your favorite 90s–2000s flicks with friends who speak fluent Blockbuster, this episode's for you.Don't forget to rate, review, and subscribe wherever you get your podcasts — and tell us your ultimate movie sing-along moment in the comments or on social @NoMoreLateFees!Keywords: No More Late Fees podcast, Almost Famous, movie trivia, 2000s nostalgia, Jason Lee, Blockbuster podcast, pop culture discussion, 90s movies, sing-along movies, movie rewatch podcast, film fandom, behind the scenes movies—No More Late Fees https://nomorelatefeespodcast.com909-601-NMLF (6653)—Follow Us on Social:Instagramhttps://www.instagram.com/nomorelatefees TikTokhttps://www.tiktok.com/@nomorelatefees Facebookhttps://www.facebook.com/nomorelatefeesYoutubehttps://www.youtube.com/@nomorelatefees Twitterhttps://x.com/NoMoreLateFees —CONQUERingmyconquering.com10% Off Code: JACKIE10—Donate to PBShttps://donate.austinpbs.org/austinpbs/donate—Donate to PBSMonsters Inc.https://nomorelatefeespodcast.com/episode/monsters-incThe Great Pixar Debate with Nickhttps://nomorelatefeespodcast.com/episode/the-great-pixar-debate-with-nickClerkshttps://nomorelatefeespodcast.com/episode/clerksVideo Tales with Nickhttps://nomorelatefeespodcast.com/episode/video-store-tales-with-nickGoldeneyehttps://nomorelatefeespodcast.com/episode/goldeneyeSpy Hard: Ranking 90s - 00 Movie Spies with Nickhttps://nomorelatefeespodcast.com/episode/spy-hard-ranking-90s-00s-movie-spies-with-nickThe Bill Murray Cinematic Universe with Nickhttps://nomorelatefeespodcast.com/episode/the-bill-murray-cinematic-universe-with-nickLife Aquatichttps://nomorelatefeespodcast.com/episode/life-aquaticHeartbreakershttps://nomorelatefeespodcast.com/episode/heartbreakers-2001Top Jennifer Love Hewitt Movieshttps://nomorelatefeespodcast.com/episode/top-jennifer-love-hewitt-movies

Who's the ultimate movie bully? This week, Jackie and Danielle from No More Late Fees are taking on the meanest of the mean—from Regina George's backhanded compliments to Deebo's bike-snatching reign of terror—in the most nostalgic showdown of ‘90s and 2000s movie villains ever assembled.Joined by their friend and Shoot Punch Kick host, Anthony, the trio dives deep into the unforgettable world of cinematic bullies, exploring who would win in a fight, who has a secret heart of gold, and who's just plain unredeemable. Dan & Manny are joined by friend of the show, artist & pop culture enthusiast Andrew Breen to put the 1989 fantasy comedy horror film Little Monsters to the ultimate test—THE NOSTALGIA TEST! “Little Monsters is one of the most repellent, distasteful, truly creepy movies I've seen in a long time, a movie so unpleasant I can't really figure out why anybody wanted to make it, and I don't know why anybody would wanna see it.” -Roger Ebert It's officially Spooky Season and what better way to celebrate than to put one of the weirdest and creepiest movies ever made to the ultimate test. Little Monsters makes the plot of every David Lynch film look totally normal. This movie was suggested by the guest, Andrew Breen, who's an amazing artist and a pop culture nerd like Dan & Manny. Little Monsters looks like a club Bill Hader's SNL character Stefon would be partying at until everyone turns into a pile of clothes. This movie has everything, Fred Savage, Daniel Stern on the verge of murdering his whole family, the woman who owned The Cleveland Indians in Major League, and a monster named Snick, who's a cigarette cross from between the girl who turned into a blueberry before she died in Willy Wonka and a broke down Meatloaf. Not to mention a PCP riddled Howie Mandal as Maurice the monster, who is an eleven-year-old/200-year-old blue lunatic getting children grounded, yelled at, and probably hit (hey, it's the 80s). So set your monster catching traps, make your peanut butter and onion sandwiches, make sure to check the apple juice before you drink it, and come hangout as we see if Little Monsters passes The Nostalgia Test. The Left and the Right Deserve Each Other https://www.odwyerpr.com/story/public/23694/2025-10-03/left-right-deserve-each-other.html Bill Burr Destroys His Reputation https://youtu.be/PECQihXJb_g?si=kFBcglMmm1tWs4c8 00:00:00 – Cold Open, CB Radio Day & Show Plans Kicks off with loose banter about “National CB Day” vs. truckers, old-school CB culture, travel plans, and lining up guest co-hosts; sets a playful tone before hinting at heavier news. 00:10:00 – “Escaping the Simulation” Article They dissect a Popular Mechanics piece (and Roman Yampolskiy's ideas) on whether we can exit a simulated reality, poke holes in the write-up, and riff on paradoxes, mass meditation, and overloading “the system” with AI fluff. 00:20:00 – Books & Models of Reality Bringing in My Big TOE (Tom Campbell), The Holographic Universe (Talbot), and The Simulation Hypothesis (Virk), Mike contrasts “level 2” takes with richer frameworks—e.g., distributed-mind generation of reality vs. a Linux-in-the-sky overseer. 00:30:00 – Can You Really Get Out? They argue escape likely requires death or radical detachment (no attachments, near-Zen), invoke “life review,” karma/progression RPG mechanics, and conclude there's no cheap hack—only becoming a better human. 00:40:00 – Mind Power, NPCs & Inner Monologue Into consciousness: people without inner monologues/mental imagery, social-cue humor, and how thought quality affects health and “the sim.” They chew on whether offloading thinking to AI weakens individual processing and spawns weirder glitches. 00:50:00 – Headlines: Drones, War Talk & Odd Death Quick hits: NATO-airspace drone incursions; skepticism about Venezuela “seize the airfields” stories; and a troubling Texas case (GOP staffer death by self-immolation) with sealed records that fuels speculation. 01:00:00 – Transparency & Global Gen-Z Protests On sealed files, political ties, and why Gen-Z is protesting globally—social-media chain reactions from Madagascar to Nepal; digital natives demanding change in the streets. 01:10:00 – Libya, UK Digital IDs & BoBo Craze Libya headlines resurface; talk turns to rumored UK digital ID rollouts (timing, pushback), then a detour into BoBo collectible toys, pop-culture virality, and retail charts going bonkers. 01:20:00 – Saudi Soft Power: EA & Entertainment Saudi Arabia's Public Investment Fund keeps buying influence—EA deal talk, AI plays, and mega-city “The Line”; frames the Riyadh comedy festival as part of a broader rebrand. 01:30:00 – Riyadh Comedy Festival: Burr & Chappelle Bill Burr gets roasted for cashing a $1.5M+ gig and praising KSA after slamming billionaires; Chappelle says it's “easier to talk here than in America.” They wonder who was invited, who wasn't, and whether any set will be released. 01:40:00 – Pitmaster… Deodorant?! Cratchet corner: Progresso launches BBQ-smoke “Pitmaster” deodorant to pair with its soup line; sold-out “Pit Kits” spur jokes about meme products and manufactured scarcity. 01:50:00 – “Jetpack Man” over LAX: Files Drop FOIA'd FBI docs muddy the mystery: pilots describe a humanoid-looking object with no visible propulsion; not a balloon, maybe not a person—just more questions and withheld pages. Cue wild “monkey suit goblin” punchlines. 02:00:00 – AI Music & Wrap They debut/talk AI-assisted songs (“Peg Your Jeans…”, “Chubby Puppy”), muse on 90s-grunge vibes, and plug Patreon/next shows.
