Meevil the Weevil: Breakfast of Champions, 4min., USA Directed by Kyle Arneson Meevil the Weevil is a little bug with big dreams of being a stuntman. “Breakfast of Champions” mixes stop motion animation with live action footage where we follow Meevil's thrilling ride across a 1970s breakfast table on rocket roller skates. https://www.instagram.com/stunt.bug/ Get to know the filmmaker: What motivated you to make this film? The film came about after developing the character as a hesitant hero with big dreams of grandeur. It's strongly inspired by the stunt men and women of the 1970's and 80's that I found so captivating back when the world was a little more shag-carpeted and wood-paneled. During this initial creative period I lost my father unexpectedly and it was at some point in the haze of the grieving process I realized that the relationship between Meevil, and Olis, his coach, mirrored that of my relationship to my father. So with that guiding light, the ethos of the project became clear and bringing it to reality became a goal for me as a way to honor my dad. From the idea to the finished product, how long did it take for you to make this film? From idea to final prduct this film took 3 years to make. Nothing happens fast in stop motion animation, the puppet had to be designed and built, all of the props and sets were hand made and the entire film was shot one frame at a time. How would you describe your film in two words!? Nostalgic fun! Subscribe to the podcast: https://twitter.com/wildsoundpod https://www.instagram.com/wildsoundpod/ https://www.facebook.com/wildsoundpod

Who's the ultimate movie bully? This week, Jackie and Danielle from No More Late Fees are taking on the meanest of the mean—from Regina George's backhanded compliments to Deebo's bike-snatching reign of terror—in the most nostalgic showdown of ‘90s and 2000s movie villains ever assembled.Joined by their friend and Shoot Punch Kick host, Anthony, the trio dives deep into the unforgettable world of cinematic bullies, exploring who would win in a fight, who has a secret heart of gold, and who's just plain unredeemable. Along the way, they share behind-the-scenes trivia, hilarious commentary, and hot takes that'll make you rethink your favorite high school and sports-movie antagonists. In this episode, you'll hear: • The “Bully to Bully” bracket: pitting icons like Regina George, Mike Dexter, Deebo, and Courtney Shane against each other. • Surprising psychology behind why we root for villains (and sometimes relate to them). • Nostalgic callbacks to Mean Girls, Friday, Jawbreaker, Little Giants, Angus, and more. • Movie trivia, fandom debates, and hilarious behind-the-scenes insights.Love this episode? Dan & Manny are joined by friend of the show, artist & pop culture enthusiast Andrew Breen to put the 1989 fantasy comedy horror film Little Monsters to the ultimate test—THE NOSTALGIA TEST! “Little Monsters is one of the most repellent, distasteful, truly creepy movies I've seen in a long time, a movie so unpleasant I can't really figure out why anybody wanted to make it, and I don't know why anybody would wanna see it.” -Roger Ebert It's officially Spooky Season and what better way to celebrate than to put one of the weirdest and creepiest movies ever made to the ultimate test. Little Monsters makes the plot of every David Lynch film look totally normal. This movie was suggested by the guest, Andrew Breen, who's an amazing artist and a pop culture nerd like Dan & Manny. Little Monsters looks like a club Bill Hader's SNL character Stefon would be partying at until everyone turns into a pile of clothes. This movie has everything, Fred Savage, Daniel Stern on the verge of murdering his whole family, the woman who owned The Cleveland Indians in Major League, and a monster named Snick, who's a cigarette cross from between the girl who turned into a blueberry before she died in Willy Wonka and a broke down Meatloaf. Not to mention a PCP riddled Howie Mandal as Maurice the monster, who is an eleven-year-old/200-year-old blue lunatic getting children grounded, yelled at, and probably hit (hey, it's the 80s). So set your monster catching traps, make your peanut butter and onion sandwiches, make sure to check the apple juice before you drink it, and come hangout as we see if Little Monsters passes The Nostalgia Test. The Left and the Right Deserve Each Other https://www.odwyerpr.com/story/public/23694/2025-10-03/left-right-deserve-each-other.html Bill Burr Destroys His Reputation https://youtu.be/PECQihXJb_g?si=kFBcglMmm1tWs4c8 00:00:00 – Cold Open, CB Radio Day & Show Plans Kicks off with loose banter about “National CB Day” vs. truckers, old-school CB culture, travel plans, and lining up guest co-hosts; sets a playful tone before hinting at heavier news. 00:10:00 – “Escaping the Simulation” Article They dissect a Popular Mechanics piece (and Roman Yampolskiy's ideas) on whether we can exit a simulated reality, poke holes in the write-up, and riff on paradoxes, mass meditation, and overloading “the system” with AI fluff. 00:20:00 – Books & Models of Reality Bringing in My Big TOE (Tom Campbell), The Holographic Universe (Talbot), and The Simulation Hypothesis (Virk), Mike contrasts “level 2” takes with richer frameworks—e.g., distributed-mind generation of reality vs. a Linux-in-the-sky overseer. 00:30:00 – Can You Really Get Out? They argue escape likely requires death or radical detachment (no attachments, near-Zen), invoke “life review,” karma/progression RPG mechanics, and conclude there's no cheap hack—only becoming a better human. 00:40:00 – Mind Power, NPCs & Inner Monologue Into consciousness: people without inner monologues/mental imagery, social-cue humor, and how thought quality affects health and “the sim.” They chew on whether offloading thinking to AI weakens individual processing and spawns weirder glitches. 00:50:00 – Headlines: Drones, War Talk & Odd Death Quick hits: NATO-airspace drone incursions; skepticism about Venezuela “seize the airfields” stories; and a troubling Texas case (GOP staffer death by self-immolation) with sealed records that fuels speculation. 01:00:00 – Transparency & Global Gen-Z Protests On sealed files, political ties, and why Gen-Z is protesting globally—social-media chain reactions from Madagascar to Nepal; digital natives demanding change in the streets. 01:10:00 – Libya, UK Digital IDs & BoBo Craze Libya headlines resurface; talk turns to rumored UK digital ID rollouts (timing, pushback), then a detour into BoBo collectible toys, pop-culture virality, and retail charts going bonkers. 01:20:00 – Saudi Soft Power: EA & Entertainment Saudi Arabia's Public Investment Fund keeps buying influence—EA deal talk, AI plays, and mega-city “The Line”; frames the Riyadh comedy festival as part of a broader rebrand. 01:30:00 – Riyadh Comedy Festival: Burr & Chappelle Bill Burr gets roasted for cashing a $1.5M+ gig and praising KSA after slamming billionaires; Chappelle says it's “easier to talk here than in America.” They wonder who was invited, who wasn't, and whether any set will be released. 01:40:00 – Pitmaster… Deodorant?! Cratchet corner: Progresso launches BBQ-smoke “Pitmaster” deodorant to pair with its soup line; sold-out “Pit Kits” spur jokes about meme products and manufactured scarcity. 01:50:00 – “Jetpack Man” over LAX: Files Drop FOIA'd FBI docs muddy the mystery: pilots describe a humanoid-looking object with no visible propulsion; not a balloon, maybe not a person—just more questions and withheld pages. Cue wild “monkey suit goblin” punchlines. 02:00:00 – AI Music & Wrap They debut/talk AI-assisted songs (“Peg Your Jeans…”, “Chubby Puppy”), muse on 90s-grunge vibes, and plug Patreon/next shows. Send us a textKatie and Bridget try to look away from the Alpha Zombies running (if you know, you know), as they re-watch this month's NOstalgic Happy Hour: 28 Years Later! We've finally made it to the third movie of the 28 Days Later franchise and spoiler alert - THERE'S STILL LOTS OF ZOMBIES GOOD GOD! Come along as we meet Spike, a 12 year old boy who lives in a cute coastal town in Scotland with his parents. When his dad takes him to the mainland for some good old manly zombie hunting, he discovers that there's a doctor living there just lighting fires nonstop. Not sure how we didn't see that from our town, but fine! When Spike's dad refuses to get help from the doctor for Spike's mom, who's clearly dying, Spike threatens to shank him, distracts the entire village all at once, and sneaks mom out onto the mainland to get her some help. It JUST. MAKES. SENSE. GUYS! This movie asks the deep questions such as: Why are there different breeds of zombies now? Whatever happened to the immunity subplot people could have to zombies that was talked about in the 2nd movie? How magical IS the placenta!? All that and more in this beautiful movie to look at, though you might question if you were roofied or not while watching it. Released in 2025, it stars Jodie Comer, Aaron Taylor-Johnson, Ralph Fiennes, Alfie Williams, and special guest appearance in a Juicy Couture tracksuit: Jack O'Connell.

Dan, Manny, & Billy are joined by friend of the show, writer, & sole audience member Eric Althoff to dive into a whole bunch of nostalgic pop culture news and put it to the ultimate test—THE NOSTALGIA TEST! “No artist loved their fans more than [Ozzy] did” -Billy In this episode of Nostalgia Test News, recorded on August 19th, 2025, the boys get straight to it and with the rebooted Scary Movie, if there's a need for a Rambo prequel, and what could Gremlins 3 possibly be about? Doesn't everyone know about the rules after Gremlins 2? The boys are joined by Eric Althoff from the Street Fighter episode who just so happened to be in the Zoom audience. He weighs in on the age-old question, is Gremlins 2 better than Gremlins 1? The episode takes a crazy turn down a huge AI tangent, creepy celebrity stories from the set of Crush and Freaky Friday, driverless cars and delivery robots in LA, F**k Dean Cain, and did you know there was a 12-year-old kid with no legs in the ET puppet? Everyone reflects on the passing of Ozzy Osborne and Malcolm Jamal Warner and talk about their contributions to music, TV, creating the Reality TV, genre, poetry, and more. They also tackle the controversial legacy of Hulk Hogan after his passing. And last but not least (haha) they touch on Megadeath calling it quits and how Dave Mustaine is the most bitter musician in metal despite being extremely successful. All this and so much more! Spark OKC is a relatively new player in the crowded Oklahoma burger scene, yet it already feels like they've been around forever. The concept is a spur of The Social Order, the restaurant group that started as The Jones Assembly and has also umbrellaed to include local Dave's Hot Chicken and Fuzzy's Taco Stand locations. CEO Brian Bogert has been there from the beginning, and he sits down with editor-in-chief Nathan Gunter to catch us up on this exciting new brand, reminisce about his history in the restaurant world, and even talk about the time The Jones hosted a pre-superstardom Chappell Roan. Also on this week's episode, the editors give their elevator pitches for their own dream restaurant concepts, and podvents will help explain why there are so many lemonade stands in Tulsa this week. You won't want to miss it!
Send us a textHow do you communicate effectively in a world of constant change? When should you innovate, and when should you embrace tradition? Communications expert Ivy Clem tackles these questions with wisdom drawn from her 20+ years in the industry. From her beginnings as a news anchor in Nigeria's evolving media landscape to her current work as a strategic communications consultant, Ivy brings a unique perspective on how messages shape our world. She takes us on a journey through the transformation of Nigerian broadcasting—from the limited programming of the National Television Authority to the explosion of private media and now to the digital revolution that's changing how younger generations consume content. The conversation reveals a fascinating concept Ivy calls "the market for nostalgia." Using examples like Snickers maintaining its bestseller status from 1962 to today, she explores why some brands thrive on consistency while others need constant innovation. This duality forms the core of strategic communication: knowing your value proposition and choosing whether to position yourself as innovative and dynamic or authoritative and tradition-based.Particularly compelling is Ivy's passionate call for positive storytelling about Nigeria. "For every one bad story, there are 50,000 good ones," she insists, challenging listeners to counter negative narratives with authentic, affirmative ones. Her insights on how Americans successfully crafted the concept of "the American dream" raise thought-provoking questions about how other nations can shape their own narratives.Whether you're a communication professional, a business owner crafting your brand story, or simply someone who wants to speak more purposefully, this episode offers valuable guidance on making your words matter. As Ivy beautifully puts it, "Communication is like air—the air we breathe," connecting us across differences and allowing us to share our dreams and aspirations with one another.Support the showYou can support this show via the link below;https://www.buzzsprout.com/1718587/supporters/new
