Sturdy, we're takin' it back to where the infection began with a deep dive into Seoul Station (2016)—the animated prequel to Train to Busan.   This film packs all the tension, heartbreak, and horror you'd expect from the franchise, but through the unique lens of animation. Episode 5: Train To BusanRelease Date: 2016In this week's episode, we head over to South Korea to discuss one of our all-time favorite films - Train to Busan. This movie was released in 2016 - the first live-action film of director Yeon Sang Ho. It stars Gong Yoo, Ma Dong Seok, and Jung Yu Mi - all well-known stars - and was commercially successful as well as critically acclaimed. Train to Busan is hailed as one of the best zombie apocalypse movies of all time. Whilst the main theme is survival, it manages to weave in political and social commentary - a rarity for the horror genre. Minal doesn't watch zombie or horror films and only Korean zombie shows and films have got her hooked to this genre. Benny came as a guest on a Kdrama podcast that Minal co-hosts and raved about the Kingdom K-drama and Train to Busan; and only after his praises did Minal decide to watch the show and the movie. Both the drama and this movie sit on top of Minal's all-time favorite shows and movies. To know more about why both the hosts here loved this movie - tune in to the episode to find out!Synopsis (From AsianWiki): Seok-Woo (Gong Yoo) is a fund manager in Seoul. He is separated from his wife and lives with his daughter Soo-An (Kim Soo-Ahn). Seok-Woo doesn't spend much time with his daughter or show affection to her. On the night before Soo-An's birthday, Soo-An insists on seeing her mother for her birthday. Seok-Woo has no other choice, but to take her to Busan. Early the next morning, they board the KTX train for Busan at Seoul Station. Before the KTX train leaves Seoul Station, a zombie-like girl jumps onto the train. The girl is infected with a horrific virus that is spreading like wildfire. Seok-Woo, Soo-An, and the other passengers on the KTX train must now fight for their lives.IMDB Link: Train to BusanWhere to Watch: Prime Video - Rent/BuyArticles/Interviews:Critic Reviews - Universally LovedTrain to Busan's enduring Cultural legacyTrivia: IMDB TriviaMusic from #Uppbeat (free for Creators!): https://uppbeat.io/t/hey-pluto/the-paradeLicense code: MIE1N7HAVI6KJOSGContact Us:Email: thetalkingtalkies@gmail.com Twitter: @_talkingtalkiesInstagram @_talkingtalkiesBenny (@RealBennyMan) / TwitterMi (@Mi_Rambles) /...

“You're clearly an expert at leaving useless people behind.”The Zombie Hordes Are Headed Our Way!For his first live-action film, director Yeon Sang-ho decided to take on a horror film with confined locations, certainly something first time directors do when figuring the medium out. On the other hand, the film is a zombie movie with hundreds of zombiefied people, both on and off the high-speed train in the title. It's fair to say he went big. Join us – Pete Wright and Andy Nelson – as we kick off our short series looking at the Train to Busan films, starting with Yeon's 2016 film Train to Busan. Here's a hint at what we talk about.First off, we love zombie movies so this is an easy one to talk about, particularly because Yeon gets so much right. It's a fun movie that sets things up quickly, then once the train ride starts and zombies appear, it never relents. The zombies themselves are well crafted and creepy in their movements. The film has some spectacular action set pieces as well.On top of that, however, we get some great characters that keep us engaged. Sure, they are fairly archetypal, but they're very likable. From our father-daughter pair at the heart of the story, to the husband and his pregnant wife, to the baseball player and his new cheerleader girlfriend, to the two older sisters, to the evil COO who can't get past his own self-interest, each character delivers an essential part of the story. There are some zombie rules developed in the world building that seem to be dropped or changed as the story needs them to be, but on the whole the movie's an exciting thrill ride. We have a great time talking about it, so check it out then tune in. Apologies for Walter's bad audio. He had the wrong audio device set as default since he had to move his recording setup. I'll scream at him to fix it before we record next time. Walter returns to the podcast to discuss 1975's giallo classic Deep Red. The boys get right back into the swing of things, discussing the two cuts of the movie, whether or not the mystery holds up in the modern era, and the best defense against an accusation of a small penis. Flesh Walter talks about Robo Walter's opinion of Seoul Station and Kevin dishes on some recent releases. Don't worry folks, there's still plenty of time to discuss season 4 of Love is Blind.

They also discussed increased cooperation in the energy and defense sectors. Hey guys welcome to episode 10 of Gem Mint Horror ! Im glad for those of you small but loyal listeners who keep on tuning in because today I have another foreign but animated horror film I'll know you guys will enjoy. Seoul Station is a prequel set in the world of Train to Busan that shows the effects of a group of survivors who are trying to get out of Downtown Seoul because of a zombie outbreak. Now I know you might be turned off by an animated film because I get the reactions here and there about "grown ups" saying its for kids but I'm telling you this film isn't and I'm sure it'll be some of yours top 10 zombie films. If you guys want to keep up with me and the show follow the socials, instagram @gem_mint_horror and twitter: @GemHorror7 and don't forget the community I'm trying to build on the Facebook page as Gem Mint Horror where we can discuss episodes of the show and horror movies in general.

This week we cover the South Korean "Train To Busan" franchise. The second film in the series is the lesser known animated prequel "Seoul Station". The third movie is named "Peninsula". "Train To Busan" is IMHO one of the best zombie movies EVER. Not only does it have some great zombies, it also has characters you grow to care about. That doesnt happen much in this subgenre. While some have referred to "Peninsula" as "Fast & Furious... with zombies", I enjoyed it as well. Just dont compare "Peninsula" with "Train To Busan". This is about completely different characters and how they dealt with the zombie apocalypse.   This week we cover some classic Korean dishes. Check out this link to TheSpruceEats.com for more details. Some of the most popular are: kimchi, dumplings and Korean barbecue.     Photo Credit: Here

Along the way, debates rage about: blaming horror movies for real life crimes, the importance of "theme" in movies, and how society looks down upon sex workers. It's a *PACKED* episode! Enjoy! . . . As always, thanks to: Dilani Saumya (https://www.fiverr.com/dilanisaumya) - Scaretroducing podcast artwork

This week, our heroes: chronicle the world's first Dungeon Break and how the whole world went to shit as a result; discover our world kinda sucks and that's why it's a target; learn all the fun puns that can be made with Roused as a base; reveal our MC's true kindness in that he offers to let you serve him before he just kills you and you serve him anyway; devise the perfect business plan of fucking shit up in the pursuit of money and just hiring people to fix it; recall that the best way to dodge military service is to just go kill the leader of the country you're fighting (or just sign an autograph for him); complain about all the characters we couldn't talk about because there's just too many characters; and share the story of the cell phone salesman that just went too far.
