Welcome to Dev Game Club, where this week we finish our series on Deadly Premonition. We talk a bit about the main story, the life sim, how we get around and more before turning to takeaways. Dev Game Club looks at classic video games and plays through them over several episodes, providing commentary. Sections played: To Ch 21 (Tim) and only Ch 8 (Brett) Issues covered: Cry-baby Timothy, pre-show announcements, the game coming more quickly at the end, prime time television and Twin Peaks, describing an actual puzzle, the feeling of a web of connections between people both surface and hidden, the Ingram twins and their grandfather and Kaysen, dialogue with characters on their life sim paths, having the spatial awareness of the town vs not in television, you get to live in the town, the limitations of the driving model, wanting a simpler driving model, having conversation while the character is being driven instead, an unpolished gem, when time pauses vs when it will advance and keeping you unsettled, dealing with open world games with day/night cycles and running into the time problem, being unclear what other games this inspired, a different kind of mature, leaning into the quirk (and your constraints), stunt comedy, not getting enough of this sort of game, integrating the player into the town, inspirations with a twist. Games, people, and influences mentioned or discussed: Video Game History Foundation, Rocksmith, Twin Peaks, David Lynch, Mark Frost, Resident Evil, Yakuza (series), Breaking Bad, The Last of Us, Nick Offerman, Gilmore Girls, Red Dead Redemption, Assassin's Creed, L. A. Noire, Mars Attacks, GTA 3, Shenmue, Dungeons & Dragons, Tolkien, Star Wars, Alien, Blade Runner, Artimage, Cult of the Lamb, Angie Nash, Kirk Hamilton, Aaron Evers, Mark Garcia. In this most terrifying and seasonally appropriate episode, Off the Deep End delves into the origins of every single spooky video game to ever be made, probably. It turns out Sweet Home isn't just a bit of trivia you bring up when talking about the origins of Resident Evil, it's also a RPG! Adam, Braden, and Chris not only played the 1989 Famicom title, they also watched the movie it's based on! One of these things is better than the other, and you'll have to listen to find out! Also featuring: bad singing. This week on the Boss Rush Podcast: Corey Dirrig, LeRon Dawkins, and Patrick Klein dive into how two iconic franchises—Grand Theft Auto and Fallout—remain forever rooted in American culture. Rockstar's Dan Houser and Bethesda's Todd Howard both reaffirm that their series simply wouldn't work outside the U.S., with GTA's satirical take on “Americana” and Fallout's atomic-age paranoia defining their worlds. The crew also breaks down Microsoft CEO Satya Nadella's comments that Xbox's biggest rival isn't PlayStation but TikTok, as the gaming industry now battles for players' attention rather than console dominance. Plus, new data shows remakes vastly outpacing remasters in revenue on PS5, proving players crave fully reimagined classics like Resident Evil 4 and Silent Hill 2. The Nintendo Switch edges toward breaking DS sales records, Metroid Prime 4: Beyond's latest trailer amps up the hype ahead of launch, and Hideo Kojima reacts to learning that Konami once rejected a Matrix game pitch. All this and more, this week on The Boss Rush Podcast!Follow our Hosts:Corey Dirrig, Founder of Boss Rush Media and the Boss Rush NetworkLeRon Dawkins, VP of Technology and Culture at Boss Rush NetworkPatrick Klein, Games Manager at Boss Rush NetworkJoin the Boss Rush Community: Join the Boss Rush Network Community DiscordFollow Boss Rush Network: Follow Boss Rush Network on X/Twitter, Bluesky, Facebook, LinkedIn, Threads, and InstagramSupport Boss Rush Network:Support Boss Rush on Patreon and buy merch on our Store. Of moeten we hier echt snel mee gaan stoppen? Het antwoord krijg je in deze video.

Show Notes On this week's podcast, Dan and Kris fire up this year's Halloween Special! What's so special about it? They didn't prepare anything, so they just made it up on the fly. They talked a lot about scalpers though. And what's more terrifying than that? Then, in Week Old News, Blizzard unionizes some more, an old Resident Evil phone game has been saved, Mario goes to Macy's, and Microsoft breaks the record for most awful news in a single week. Finally, in the Checkpoint, Dan and Kris talk about the show's eventual move to video, Kris talks about another eventual move to his desk, and Dan, well, he's pissed. Enjoy! With Xbox's famous ringworld officially arriving on PlayStation 5 in 2026, we can rest assured that Sony's longtime rival has finally conceded the console space for good. Halo: Campaign Evolved -- clever! -- is a ground-up remake of the smash-hit 2001 Xbox launch title, and it comes with some new bells and whistles, including fresh content and a four-player online-enabled campaign. Microsoft even trotted Halo's community manager out in a PlayStation shirt, promised all upcoming Halo content is Sony-bound, and yielded perhaps their last meaningful franchise to the competition. This gives us much to discuss! Plus: Helldivers 2 dev Arrowhead begins work on its next project, Horizon's live-action movie is slated to film next year and launch in '27, Resident Evil 0 Remake rumors are percolating, we may be waiting a while longer for Starfield's PS5 debut, Electronic Arts scores a renewed deal with the NFL to continue the Madden franchise, and more. Then: Listener inquiries! Why does anyone care about Photo Mode? What's our dream PowerWash Simulator 2 DLC? Is it okay to play a game without delving into its greater meaning and themes? Released in the United States 20 years to the day, the PS2 version of Resident Evil 4 marked a major first in the Biohazard series - the first subsequent re-release with a major canonical add-on in the form of the wonderful Separate Ways campaign. At the time whilst such a notion greatly annoyed GameCube owners, many saw Separate Way as the extra that "saved the game" in terms of connection to the overall Resident Evil lore. 20 years on, REP once again make their way back to Spain to replay this short and sweet Ada adventure beginning to end. We recount our tales with tips and tricks from various platforms - that is if Neptune does not have any issues playing with a WaveBird controller. News includes the surprising revelation that Switch 2 is getting a Requiem release - as well more updates from Survival Unit - much to STARS TyranT's dismay!

I couldn't put it down and now I get why so many say it set the bar for remakes all those years ago.The OG Resident Evil is one of the most important (and fun) games ever made IMO, and Remake improves on practically every aspect of it. INCREDIBLE graphics, better controls, slightly less cheesy voice acting, and more. It takes all the ingredients in a great bowl of soup and someone makes them even greater. I don't know if I'd call this the place for newcomers to the series to start because of the tank controls, but I think it's an absolutely must-play for horror fans and one of the best in the series.RTG's resident evil, my buddy Patrick, is my guest this week. We have different opinions on some entries in the Resident Evil series, but we both agree this remake is top shelf. One of us doesn't care for the mansion setting though, and the other thinks that's crazy. And before we kill zombies, I put together another edition of the Infamous Intro! This week someone asks what Nintendo needs to do to stop being a villain? After their horrible year, do I still like Xbox more than PlayStation? And why didn't I launch the indie game podcast I was considering??Plus we play another round of 'Play One, Remake One, Erase One', too! This one features 3 of the lesser-known Resident Evil entries: Survivor, Outbreak, and The Umbrella Chronicles.See Privacy Policy at https://art19.com/privacy and California Privacy Notice at https://art19.com/privacy#do-not-sell-my-info.

Our special "Trick 'r(esident) Tre(vil)" month concludes, with the 2021 cinematic reboot of the Resident Evil series. We've lost Milla Jovovich and Paul W.S. Anderson (except for an in-name-only producer credit), but hey, we've got a crap-ton of 1998 references to make up for it! That's because Resident Evil: Welcome to Raccoon City promised to be a more faithful adaptation of the original video game source material, condensing the first two games into one movie. And yet, even with this allegedly more accurate representation of the beloved video game series, Welcome to Raccoon City clearly did not spawn the same sort of long-running, financially successful franchise that Paul W.S. Anderson's less faithful adaptation did. But...why? We pull out our Palm Pilots and investigate. Our Twitter Our Facebook Our Instagram Our YouTube Trev's Letterboxd Chris' Letterboxd

Resident Evil is one of the most well-known survival horror video game series of all time, spawning a legion of films. The first movie featured Rain Ocampo, a no-nonsense mercenary who perhaps bit off more than she could chew while investigating Umbrella Corporations facility full of zombies and a murderous AI.See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.
