Slightly after "The Goonies" but way before "Avengers: End Game" Josh Brolin starred in 1986's epic "Romeo & Juliet on skateboards" drama, Thrashin'. Z&D break down the good, the bad, and the air guitar of this nostalgic flick, along with the soundtrack (featuring Meatloaf, Devo, The Truth, Red Hot Chili Peppers, Animotion, the Bangles) that unfortunately never received an official release. The dudes dig deep into the logistics of skating around the vast landscape of 1980's Los Angeles and, as always, pop culture (Castlevania, Punky Brewster) baby! This week on the Classicl337 podcast Kevin talks about some thing he purchased at the video game show in Mississauga - liked Antman and the Wasp in Quantumania and forced his 8 year old to watch the original Super Mario Bros. Movie, then the two go over some new releases and news. Kevin completed Final Fantasy VII Crisis Core Reunion for the switch and forgot he already played it for the PSP. Completed Virtual Virtual Reality for the Oculus Quest. Is on the third save file for The Binding of Isaac: Repentance and along with Scott completed Onion Assault, it is no Gunman Clive. Kevin is currently getting all sad in Omori, trying to get the Ultimate Keyblade in Kingdom Hearts 3 and is saving the universe with Trover in Trover Saves the Universe. Meanwhile Scott completed Hi-Fi Rush, tried the Diable 4 Beta, enjoyed MLB The Show 23 for some reason, tried the new courses in Mario Kart 8 Deluxe, was welcomed to Castlevania in Dead Cells and became an old man and fell for the Wii U brick prank. All estimates are for entertainment purposes only. Total sales of new gaming hardware and software topped $4.6 billion, a 6 percent increase over last year. On the software charts Warner Bros' Hogwarts Legacy unseats Activison's Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 Remake for the top spot, while EA's Dead Space remake stays cozy in third. Sony's The Last of Us: Part 1 returns in sixth, EA's Wild Hearts debuts high in eighth, Sega's Like a Dragon: Ishin! enters the list at ninth, while Square Enix's Octopath Traveler II sneaks in at tenth. Elsewhere on the list Nintendo's Kirby's Return to Dream Land debuts at fifteenth, Sega's Company of Heroes 3 lands in sixteenth, Sony's The Last of Us: Part II returns in eighteenth, and Square Enix's Theatrhythm: Final Bar Line rounds out the list in twentieth. Everything Else But there's more! E3, formerly the biggest gaming event in the world, has been canceled yet again. Maybe this time for keeps? Sony's The Last of Us renaissance continues with the release of The Last of Us: Part I on PC…but was it worth the wait? Warner Bros' Smash Bros. ripoff homage MultiVersus is set to be shut down this summer – but will it return? Word on the street Sony's PSVR2 isn't selling that hot – but Cory still loved it anyway! Will 2023 be the year that game movies finally take off? Apple TV's Tetris and Pinball: The Man Who Saved the Game provide some biographical references for game/movie fans everywhere – all from the comfort of home. Check out our interview with the Pinball directors when you're done listening to this!

Rumors are percolating anew of a PlayStation 5 Pro console that may launch as soon as 2024, but in reality, this isn't news at all. Our very own tech analyst told us about PS5 Pro last year right here on this very show, and with more information now garnered, it sounds like this thing is really happening. Or is it? Deep economic pain lingers (with more potentially on the way). And how much more power does the PS5 need, anyway? Let's discuss the freshest hardware murmurings. Then: Neil Druckmann spills the beans on The Last of Us' future on HBO and the potential of a third core game, Konami's Project Zircon indicates Castlevania is about to return, Chinese developers voluntarily submit to self-censorship in a new pact, and more, buttressed -- as always -- by listener inquiries. What's going on with Capcom's Pragmata? Could gaming magazines ever make a comeback? How long should a game be? Has Dustin's coffee snobbery gone a step too far? Thanks to our sponsor! We're talking Dead Cells Castlevania this week along with what it took to finally get Jeff to uninstall Destiny 2. Starfield's got a date, Sony's got a batch of new reasons why Microsoft shouldn't own Activision, and newly unearthed footage of Spaceworld 2000 leads to a jersey discussion.
Make sure you drop some Rs for good ol' Rordawg. We chat about the wet and scary Resident Evil 4 demo, Dead Island 2, Dead Cells: Return to Castlevania, PS5 Pro Rumors, and even more!
Jeff and Christian welcome Jan Ochoa from Giant Bomb back to the show this week to talk about Starfield and Suicide Squad kill the Justice League getting new delays, reveals from NACON and Capcom - including the Resident Evil 4 Chainsaw demo drop - and more! The Playlist: Marvel Snap, A Space for the Unbound, Justice League Cosmic Chaos, The Outer Worlds: Spacer's Choice Edition, Dead Cells Return to Castlevania, Patch Quest, Spin Rhythm XD Parting Gifts!
We're mixing things up a bit by introducing an updated "News" segment and swapping the placement of the weekly discussion topic and impressions. With that in mind, we deliver a spicy update to our ongoing Fantasy Critic adventure and run down the juiciest headlines from the past week including an Elden Ring DLC announcement, Suicide Squad delayed, and the details regarding the upcoming XBox & Starfield showcases. We then turn our attention to a hot topic surging through the industry and our discord: the legacy of the term "JRPG" and the potential harm it is doing to the industry. In the 2nd segment, Brad talks Wo Long: Fallen Dynasty and Dead Cells: Return to Castlevania. Chris Davis discusses his playthrough of Metroid Prime Remastered which also happens to be his 1st time playing the game.
Sometimes, wrapping a trilogy leaves developers without a clear path forward - and sometimes, their follow-ups are weird outliers that are quickly forgotten once the series either fades away or finds its footing again. A certain 10-year anniversary this week sent us down a rabbit hole of these games, and once we're done talking about them we'll get deeper into Wo Long, explore Dead Cells: Return to Castlevania, talk about Capcom Spotlight, and hear about the games you'd improve by adding pro-wrestling moves.
