Russell Crowe! Christian Bale! Natalie Portman! Are they starring in a prestige film that we’re sure to hear about when Oscar time comes around? No, it’s “Thor: Love and Thunder!” But while this movie might not be able to live up to “Thor: Ragnarok,” there are a lot of things we appreciated about it. And also some things we didn’t. It’s all about tone. Jason Snell with Kathy Campbell, Tony Sindelar and Chip Sudderth.

There's so much to cover as we got into Natalie Portman's Thor, Gorr's comic book origins, and the MCU's Zeus! For all the acclaim that Thor: Ragnarok got, why wasn't Love and Thunder as well received? Did Taika Waititi overdo it this time? Did some of the characters overstay their welcome? Filmmaker Matt Vella joins us on the show today to talk about his new short film, She's Not Your Type, and then to do an in-depth review of the new Jamie Foxx and Dave Franco film, Day Shift, that was just released on Netflix. To kick things off, Matt shares a little about his work, and what motivated him to make a short rom-com at this stage in his career. He talks about how performing standup influenced his process, and why he is sticking to projects that he believes in and are close to his heart. We also spend a little time recounting the wild and hilarious quotables from Matt's film! From there, the conversation turns to Day ShiftWe go through the picture's many problems, from casting issues, a confused script, and undercooked ideas and execution. With such a promising cast, it seems a shame that the final product is such a letdown. We find some time at the end of the episode to see how it measures up to other bad movies we have seen this year. So to hear the full breakdown, and a lot more in between, be sure to listen in with us in this fun conversation! Support the show

For better or for worse, the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) is a very different place after the events of Avengers: Endgame (2019). Episode Notes "Excuse me. That's my hammer you've got there. And that's my look" Gather round kids, it's time for the story of how the Behold Boys ranked Thor: Love and Thunder. Yes, we're back again and this time we're going back to the big screen for the latest adventure of our favourite space viking... or should that be vikings? And since we have more Thors, it only makes sense that we have more hosts. Ok, well it doesn't, but Graham is back anyway! Thor: Ragnarok is pretty high in all three of our opinions so how does Taika Waititi's sequel stack up to it? Tune in to find out! Is Thor: Ragnarok the funniest MCU movie? Is Hela a purely evil villain? Did we really need this movie for canon, or is it just a fun filler? Those who have followed us for a while may remember that this was one of the movies suggested for a non-Marvel fan to like. How did our resident Marvel skeptic feel about the movie?

On the August 25, 2022 episode of /Film Daily, /Film editorial director Peter Sciretta is joined by /Film editor Brad Oman to have a spoiler-filled discussion about She-Hulk Episode 2 “Superhuman Law” Opening Banter: In The Spoiler Room: She-Hulk Episode 2 “Superhuman Law” FeedbackMatthew from Toronto, Canada writes in “You mentioned the possibility of bringing in Hulk's son. Since time runs differently on Sakaar, Hulk's son could already be an adult. As they showed in Thor: Ragnarok when Thor was behind Loki by just a few seconds but arrived several weeks after. There are some theories online that the MCU might be trying to set up World War Hulk. However, I'm speculating something a bit different in that Marvel will use Hulk's son for the Young Avengers. As there's a character among the Young Avengers called Hulkling. In the comics, he isn't the son of Hulk but a Super Skrull who shapeshifts mainly as a teenage Hulk. In the comics he is also the son of the original Captain Mar-vell and a Skrull princess, the heir to the Skrull Empire. I don't think that would work with the changes made with Captain Mar-vell and the Skrulls in the Captain Marvel movie. Making Hulkling the son of Hulk removes the convoluted backstory and means the MCU has one more character for some sort of Young Avengers project. Also it gives Hulk a new story arc that can be a sort of b plot in several Marvel Movies, rather than something as story heavy as World War Hulk which I think would require the Hulk to have his own movie.” Brief reactions Breakdown Speculation Also mentioned: All the other stuff you need to know: You can find more about all the stories we mentioned on today's show at slashfilm.com, and linked inside the show notes. /Film Daily is published every weekday, bringing you the most exciting news from the world of movies and television as well as deeper dives into the great features from slashfilm.com. Thor, Odinson. What does it mean to wield the hammer? To wear that helmet with the tiny little wings on it? Does one have to be worth of character, or just really strong? Well since it's a Norse myth first it isn't anyone's intellectual property, so whatever you want! We're doing Thor with short hair accidentally. Arguably the best Thor movie to ever grace the screen, coupled with the most bland piece of shit I think I've ever sat through without turning it off. How We Seeez It! Episode 141 Thor Ragnarok (MCU) “What do I always say about Thor Ragnarok, it starts with a B” “Trash”. “No, it's the best, where you even trying”. That's right Thor Ragnarok the movie that really set the bar high in the MCU. Chris Hemsworth and Natalie Portman are back, both as Thor's looking to rekindle their lightning. Well friends it is once more time for BRBR to leap back into the MCU! This time, thankfully, with somehting more decent than some of our other MCU entries, with Thor: Ragnarok! With the fall of Aasgard at hand, it's up to Thor and his new found gang of "Revengers" to take down Hela and her army of undead warriors. And while this may not be the most perfectly polished Marvel movie, it certainly is one of the more entertaining. I have always never really cared for Thor but still enjoyed his presence in the other Avengers movies until now. While most people somehow find this one to be one of the more controversial MCU flicks that "ruined Thor," I am actually quite grateful for the alternate direction. Can Thor stop Hela, be okay with his new haircut and leap thunderously away from these bad reviewers? Tune in to find out! If you enjoyed the episode, please rate and share! It goes such a long way and I am so grateful for all of the support. And hey, if you do leave a review of the show, you will be featured as well! How neat is that? Thor Love and Thunder marks the first time a MCU hero has gotten four stand alone films. So, that's something anyway. We knew Thor Ragnarok 2017 was going to be hard to top, and, SPOILER this film does not. There is Thor, two of them actually, Valkyrie, Korg, and a handful of other familiar faces but somehow Taika Waititi's second outing as director seems less than the sum of its parts. The Regular Joes break it down for you like a shattered Norse hammer. Star Trek: Strange New Worlds has wrapped its all to brief 10 episode run. And, much in the way The Mandalorian, quelled the bickering throngs of Star Wars folk, Trek fans seem to have finally found something they can agree on. In the season finale Paramount went deep into TOS Trek lore definitively delivering on all the promise the series holds. Again there will be SPOILERS. No Surprise, there's also the usual random topics and a round of What's in The Box. Thanks for listening!
The son of Odon returns in his fourth movie within the Marvel Cinematic Universe once again starring Chris Hemsworth as the titular her and directed for the second time (after the previous one, Thor Ragnarok) by Taika Waititi. This time, he has a dangerous new enemy who is out to kill ALL gods (himself included) played by Oscar winner Christian Bale. He is also reuniting with a former love – returning from the first two films is Oscar winner Natalie Portman playing the earth-bound scientist Jane Foster, only this time she seems to be in possession of Thor's favorite hammer. Also joining us for this new adventure is Oscar winner (!) Russell Crowe as Zeus who….well the less said, the better. What results is a mad-cap adventure with heart which spans several different planets including ours where New Asgard is located – gratefully New Asgard is overseen by returning character Valkyrie, still played winningly by Tessa Thompson. So the gang's all here (minus Loki) as has the fun returned as well? Let's find out and at least, we get to hear a lot of Guns & Roses along the way…..Host: Geoff Gershon Editors: Geoff and Ella GershonProducer: Marlene Gershonhttps://livingforthecinema.com/Facebook:https://www.facebook.com/Living-for-the-Cinema-Podcast-101167838847578Instagram:https://www.instagram.com/livingforthecinema/Letterboxd:https://letterboxd.com/Living4Cinema/
Following his massive success with Thor: Ragnarok, Taika Waititi returns to direct (and voice the character of Korg) in Thor: Love and Thunder. But has pop culture's Waititi-fication gone too far? We loved “Thor: Ragnarok,” which makes the letdown of “Thor: Love and Thunder” that much more of a bummer. Alonso and Christy have a Breakfast All Day review of this wildly uneven MCU extravaganza. In news, we discuss the career of James Caan, who died at 82; the #Gentleminion backlash; trailers for “Clerks III” and “Amsterdam”; the George Clooney nipple batsuit; this weekend's Blobfest and more. And over at our Patreon, we recap the epic “Stranger Things” season 4 finale and this week's “Ms. Marvel.” Join us!
Thor Love and Thunder is now out in theaters. Chris Hemsworth stars in his fourth Thor, MCU film. The first two movies were very different in tone and when Taika Waititi came on board to direct and Thor Ragnarok was a shift in tone. The character of Thor shifted and the story in general focused on Thor and hulk and a different spin from what we've seen previous. On this episode of rewatch, Kristian Harloff, Winston a Marshall and Coy Jandreau watch the movie and give their thoughts. #ThorLoveAndThunder #Marvel #Thor STORYBLOCKS: http://www.storyblocks.com/bigthing Follow the crew on Twitter! Marvel's Thor: Love And Thunder follows in the footsteps of the much-loved Thor: Ragnarok. Both are directed by Taika Waititi, and both offer a lighthearted take on the godlike superhero, played again by Chris Hemsworth. The new film introduces Christian Bale as a villain named Gorr, The God Butcher, and brings back Natalie Portman as Jane Foster — who now wields Thor's hammer.
