The deaths of Kathleen Peterson (the Staircase) and Rebecca Zahau are two prime examples of some bat shit crazy crime scenes.
Every true crime aficionado has a particular cold case that sticks with them. An unsolved murder that leads them down a rabbit hole of news articles, documentaries, forums, and speculation. The cold cases involving Dorothy Jane Scott and JonBenét Ramsey are two such cases.
