But their strongest bond would came later – when new couple decided to go on a killing spree. That is especially true if you're doing your wishing through a spirit or Ouija board. (Wishing On the Ouija) *** The executioner tried three separate times to hang the man – rope around the neck, lever pulled… but John walked away alive each time. (The Man They Could Not Hang) *** How can you tell if you are seeing a ghost or something real if it looks as solid as anything else? (Ghost Girl In The Old Room) *** The body of Gareth Williams was found stuffed inside a duffel, with the bag's zipper padlocked from the outside. Was it because he was discovered to be a spy? (The Spy In The Bag) *** A father and son tending to their horses are puzzled by how strange the horses were behaving – until they looked up. (Huge Bright UFO Hovered Over Horses) *** While bow hunting, a young man sees what he describes as a Bigfoot… which isn't something you often hear from a place like Kansas. (Bottomland Bigfoot in Eastern Kansas) *** On the way to the beach for some fun, two friends experience fear instead when confronted by a large winged creature. (Huge Winged Being) *** The Bethlem Royal Hospital insane asylum is so notorious that a word originally coined there entered the English language as a word for confusion and disorder… Bedlam (Bedlam – The Real Horror Story Behind the Name) *** Dorothy received phone calls regularly from a stalker, and it frightened her she considered buying a gun, and she began taking self-defense classes. But some are more intense, making you look over your shoulder and lock your doors at night. The people you have had passed relationships with or who always watched you from afar. In the united states, more than 10% of our population is stalked at some point in their life. 89% of femicide victims who had been physically assaulted had also been stalked in the 12 months before their murder. 79% of abused femicide victims reported being stalked during the same period that they were abused. 54% of femicide victims reported stalking to police before they were killed by their stalkers. For months, Dorothy Jane Scott had received phone calls from the same mysterious admirer at her workplace. The voice sounded vaguely familiar, but she just couldn't place who it was. Sometimes he expressed fawning adoration, and other times, resentment and violence. He told her he was trailing her wherever she went, and he described details of her daily activities to prove it.

For our third annual Halloween special, we have the gorgeous and talented Shelby Scott, velvet-voiced host of Scare You to Sleep, a podcast that, while beautifully produced and hugely entertaining, might just make you wet yourself a little bit. Just a little bit, no big deal. It's worth it. Shelby's show is the gold standard in horror podcasts, but she's also a true crime buff. So since it's Halloween, and we have the Princess of Darkness gracing us with her presence today, we decided to pick two extra-terrifying cases to do together. We're not gonna lie to you, campers. These are dark. First is one of the most horrifying cases we've ever heard of--a ritualistic, random double murder in one of the most tranquil neighborhoods in Hollywood. Next is the still-unsolved abduction and murder of Dorothy Jane Scott. Dorothy disappeared from a parking lot after weeks of creepy phone calls from a stalker who threatened to "cut her into bits." What happened before stalking was a serious offense? In1980 it wasn't even a crime in California. Dorothy Jane Scott went from receiving strange and unsettling phone calls to never being seen alive again. What if she could have called the police? Could this have all been prevented?
In the summer of 1980, Dorothy Jane Scott would disappear into the California night without a trace. There is nothing more chilling than an unsolved case where a person seemingly vanishes into thin air. Intertwine that with a self-proclaimed killer committed to haunting the aftermath and you have the stuff nightmares are made of. But how do you solve a crime that wasn't even a crime while it was happening? Do all secrets fray with time? Let us set each detail out like a giant puzzle on a dining room table, in the hopes that a whole image emerges as we examine all the ways it may fit together.
