March 1, 1932. East Amwell Township, New Jersey. 20-month old Charles Lindbergh Jr., the son of renowned aviator Charles Lindbergh, is abducted from his crib in the nursery of his home and a note is left behind demanding a $50,000 ransom for the baby's safe return. Even though the ransom is eventually paid out to an unidentified man at a cemetery in the Bronx, the child is not returned and his body is found in a wooded area located just over four miles from the Lindbergh residence. His cause of death is a fractured skull and it is believed that he was killed on the very same night he was kidnapped. Over two years later, a suspect named Bruno Richard Hauptmann is charged, convicted and executed for the child's murder. However, some people believe that Hauptmann was railroaded and even though nearly a century has passed, there is still a lot of controversy and debate surrounding one of the most famous cases of all time. To commemorate the milestone of our ten-year anniversary as a podcast, “The Trail Went Cold” will be presenting our very first special four-part episode and exploring the crime known as the “Lindbergh Baby Kidnapping”. This week, on Part Two, we will be chronicling the trial and execution of Bruno Richard Hauptmann, as well as the evidence against him, and Parts Three and Four will be released over the course of the next two weeks. Police in New South Wales have arrested two men over the alleged kidnapping and murder of 85-year-old Sydney grandfather Chris Baghsarian.Police say he was abducted from his North Ryde home earlier this month and authorities suspect his captors mixed him with someone living nearby who has links to organised crime.Yesterday, police found human remains near a golf course in Sydney's north west believed to be those of the elderly victim.Police searched two homes in that area and two men in their 20s were arrested.A Labor frontbencher is urging leaders 'to take the temperature down' after a security threat forced the evacuation of the Prime Minister from his Canberra residence overnight. While opposition leader Angus Taylor says he's pleased to hear the PM is safe and well after the incident. The Australian Federal Police say they searched Anthony Albanese's house but nothing suspicious was found. The AFP says it'll release more details at a later time.Almost 3000 people are still without power after storms caused havoc across Victoria. There's also been hundreds of callouts for help in Melbourne.Meanwhile a large slow moving weather system is drenching a huge part of central Australia. While it's caused havoc for transport, many graziers are celebrating the intense rains which will help set them up for the year ahead.
There's been a breakthrough in the investigation into the alleged kidnapping and murder of 85-year-old Sydney man Chris Baghsarian.New South Wales Police have arrested two men in their 20s over the disappearance of the grandfather taken from his North Ryde home twelve days ago, and they're being questioned by police.Authorities suspect his abductors mixed him up with someone living nearby who has links to organised crime.A security incident involving the Prime Minister overnight is sparking calls from leaders for more civil debate so tensions aren't needlessly stoked across the country.Federal police evacuated the PM from his home while they searched it but they couldn't find anything suspicious. The nature of the threat hasn't yet been made known.Labor frontbencher Katy Gallagher says she's noticed a change in the political environment and people are now more able to make anonymous threats. The sister of an Australian woman who married an Islamic state fighter is pleading for authorities to help her loved one return home from Syria. She says her family member was only 14 when she got married, and was groomed into travelling to a war zone where she's been stuck ever since. Her plea comes as the federal government faces pressure from different groups to either actively help the women and children of dead and captured ISIS fighters come home, or stop them from entering Australia.
Authorities are still tight lipped on the nature of a threat that prompted the Prime Minister's evacuation from his Canberra home last night.Police searched The Lodge but didn't find anything suspicious.A Labor frontbencher says it's an extraordinary incident and it's difficult to recall a similar situation. It's also sparked calls to lower the temperature of debate in Australia, given other politicians have also been subject to threatening behaviour.Police have been interviewing two men in their 20s who were arrested over the alleged kidnapping and murder of Sydney grandfather Chris Baghsarian.Authorities believe he was snatched from his home almost two weeks ago by mistake and the intended target was someone else with links to a crime family who lived nearby.Yesterday human remains were found on the city's north west fringe, that are thought to be his.And the UN General Assembly has passed a motion calling for peace in Ukraine, as the country commemorates the fourth anniversary of Russia's invasion. The resolution backs Ukraine's international borders and voices concern over intensifying Russian attacks on civilians and critical energy infrastructure.Russia's showing no sign of ending its brutal invasion despite international sanctions and repeated peace talks, but experts say its manpower and economy are being strained.

Can science solve the Nancy Guthrie Kidnapping? The Nancy Guthrie kidnapping investigation enters Week 3 — and this may be the moment the case turns from theory to science. Investigators recovered a glove 1.5 miles from Nancy's home that appears similar to the one worn by the masked suspect seen on camera. Now forensic testing is underway to determine whether DNA from inside the house matches the glove — and if it does, detectives may finally have a direct link between the kidnapper and the crime scene. Nancy Guthrie day # 15 was this a kidnapping?(What Investigators Now Have) Detectives now appear to be building a behavior-driven suspect profile, not just a physical one. Sources indicate investigators are focusing on: 1. The Glove Recovered Day 1 — but not initially shared with the FBI. That matters. Because gloves are rarely random in kidnappings — they indicate preparation. A prepared offender plans contact. This tells investigators: • The suspect expected confrontation • The suspect expected DNA transfer • The suspect likely had prior knowledge of Nancy That moves the case from opportunistic → to targeted abduction Hosted by Simplecast, an AdsWizz company. In March of 2015, Denise Huskins was kidnapped, drugged, sexually assaulted, and held for 48 hours. When she was released, police called it a hoax and demanded that she apologize for wasting resources. The media dubbed it the "Gone Girl" case and death threats started flooding in. In this episode, we'll go through the kidnapping, the police misconduct that revictimized the survivors, Detective Misty Carausu's brilliant investigative work that finally caught Muller, and how Denise and Aaron turned trauma into national advocacy. Hidden Killers With Tony Brueski | True Crime News & Commentary
Two cases. One attorney who has prosecuted murder and defended against it. Eric Faddis joins Hidden Killers to break down the institutional failures in the Nancy Guthrie kidnapping investigation and the aggressive Supreme Court oral arguments in the Alex Murdaugh appeal. In the Guthrie case, eleven days without a suspect have exposed a pattern of decisions by Sheriff Nanos that could compromise any future prosecution — from the premature crime scene release to the five-hour grounding of thermal imaging aircraft to ten days of calling critical footage permanently lost when the FBI found it in backend data. The family is communicating with the alleged kidnappers through Instagram rather than through law enforcement. The FBI released surveillance footage through Director Patel's personal X account. A man was detained in Rio Rico and released without charges. Faddis walks through the legal exposure on both sides — what the investigative failures mean for civil liability and what a prosecutor has to build a chargeable case from.In the Murdaugh appeal, the South Carolina Supreme Court justices directed pointed questioning at the state. Becky Hill's perjury conviction has rewritten the jury tampering issue. The chief justice challenged the state on Rule 404(b) and the unchecked flow of financial crime evidence at trial. With no eyewitnesses, no weapons, and no biological transfer evidence, the defense argues the state's case may not survive if the financial testimony falls. When the Academy and the War College are spirited away on a field trip to visit the USS Miyazaki, everything seems like fun and games until rabid bat men crash the party. But when Captain Ake is short on options for saving the students, Admiral Openly-Judges-You-For-Not-Having-In-Unit-Laundry suggests they should set Nus on the loose. What grade level does a ship's computer read at? How do you best cook a Caleb Mir? What's the worst part about invisible space suits? It's the episode that's front and center for the Andrew Davis film festival. After decades analyzing kidnapping cases and working directly with the FBI and law enforcement , I can tell you this: real kidnapping-for-ransom cases follow patterns. The kidnappers make contact. They provide proof of life. They issue demands quickly. They want a transaction, not a standoff. That's how these cases typically work. But that is not what I'm seeing in the Nancy Guthrie kidnapping. See Privacy Policy at https://art19.com/privacy and California Privacy Notice at https://art19.com/privacy#do-not-sell-my-info.

In this Thursday Headline Brief of The Wright Report, Bryan unpacks a mysterious 10-day airspace shutdown over El Paso that officials blame on cartel drone activity, though conflicting reports suggest something far more serious may have been unfolding along America's southern border. He then shares troubling developments from Tucson following the kidnapping of Nancy Guthrie, raising broader concerns about cartel presence and sanctuary city policies in Southern Arizona. Bryan also covers a deadly school shooting in Canada tied to gender dysphoria and media language battles, escalating felony charges against anti-ICE agitators, a major court fight over detaining illegal migrants without bond, and renewed global pressure on Iran as President Trump considers military and economic escalation. The episode closes with updates from Syria, Nigeria, and Central America, where U.S. pressure campaigns are reshaping alliances and squeezing hostile regimes from Havana to Managua.
