This month we are featuring a feed drop of an amazing new podcast that has just launched on the RQ Network The Gentleman From Hell. The Gentleman From Hell is a brand new, chilling, horror audio drama. From the brilliant creators behind Maeltopia and The Sleep Wake Cycle. In The Gentleman from Hell an entire town is gone. Without a trace. No signs, no warnings. Just silence. This is the story of Cold Sparrow. Twenty-four years ago, the peaceful town of Cold Sparrow became the center of one of the greatest unsolved mysteries in modern history. Every resident vanished. Among them, the enigmatic billionaire Benjamin Veers, whose strange ways made him an icon of intrigue. The town, once forgotten, now infamous. The questions? Endless. The answers? Nonexistent. For over two decades, investigators have been left baffled—cults, kidnappings, disappearances—none have led them closer to the truth. But now, three celebrated private investigators—famous for bringing down one of the most dangerous cults in history—have been called upon to tackle this mystery. Known for taking on the cases no one else could solve, they're determined to uncover what really happened in Cold Sparrow. Yet, the deeper they dig, the darker the whispers become. Rumors swirl of something far more sinister than anyone ever imagined. Could the mystery of Cold Sparrow be tied to forces that reach far beyond our world? Could it be linked to something... infernal? Some mysteries, once uncovered, may be better left untouched. Cold Sparrow: A town that disappeared… but something still lingers in the shadows. The investigation begins… now." Introduction and outro by Anusia Battersby. We're back with Pathfinder Wizards, and somehow giving Tyler ten more levels of spellcasting has not improved the situation. Ash has evolved from sneaky magical assassin into a nearly undetectable menace who can freeze time and ruin your life before you know he was there. Randall has discovered that there is apparently no such thing as enough bonded-item spell slots. And Tyler's angry robot can now scream at you until you die, drop meteors on your friends, and disintegrate whatever is left. At this point, these aren't adventurers. They're reasons cities have evacuation plans. SHOW NOTES We're finishing our Pathfinder 2e Wizard builds, taking Ash, Randall, and Tyler from level 11 all the way to level 20. At these levels, the Wizard starts showing exactly where its power lives. New class features are few and far between, defenses remain deeply Wizard-shaped, and some of the high-level feat choices are surprisingly thin. But the spells? The spells get ridiculous. Ash continues turning his Red Mantis Sprite into the world's most irritating magical assassin. Phantasmal Calamity wrecks minds, Redirect Teleportation makes escaping him considerably harder, Duplicate Foe lets him turn your own face against you, and his growing collection of invisibility and stealth abilities eventually makes finding him a campaign objective all by itself. By the time he picks up Disappearance and Legendary Sneak, the plan has basically become: you don't see Ash unless Ash has made a tactical error. Tyler's Rune Lord continues leaning into wrath, explosions, and increasingly hostile interpretations of spellcasting. Blinding Fury makes enemies literally too angry to perceive things properly, Falling Stars brings the expected amount of meteor-related destruction, and Scare to Death gives his angry robot the possibility of simply yelling at someone until they fall over dead. Naturally, Tyler immediately starts figuring out how to combine that with Sure Strike and Disintegrate because apparently death by terror wasn't conclusive enough. Randall keeps feeding the Universalist Wizard's bonded-item engine. Superior Bond and Reprepare Spell give him even more ways to keep spells flowing, because the answer to "When do you have enough spellcasting?" is apparently "What kind of quitter asks that question?" Along the way, we hit some of the Wizard's best high-level toys. Contingency lets you prepare for problems before they happen. Time Beacon lets you rewind a terrible turn and try again. Metallic Meteorite Glyph introduces the exciting tactical concept of repeatedly hitting someone with space rocks. Effortless Concentration frees up actions for sustained spells. Infinite Possibilities gives prepared casters a valuable wildcard when the perfect spell wasn't prepared that morning. Then we reach 10th-rank spells and restraint leaves the building. Ash stops time with Freeze Time and starts planning elaborate traps while everyone else stands around unknowingly waiting for reality to resume. Randall grabs Cataclysm because sometimes the correct number of damage types is all of them. Tyler considers Manifestation, giving him access to nearly any spell he could suddenly decide he needs. There is also an extended disagreement about line of effect after Ash discovers that Phantasmagoria cannot simply murder everyone inside a building without worrying about pesky things like walls. Apparently Pathfinder has rules specifically designed to keep Wizard war crimes within reasonable geographic boundaries. Ash takes the news well. By level 20, everyone somehow lands on Spell Shape Mastery, turning many of their favorite spell-shaping tricks into free actions. Ash becomes harder to identify, read, locate, or meaningfully interact with. Randall takes Lore specifically about Ash's Sprite, immediately putting himself on Ash's hit list. Tyler takes Too Angry to Die, because there was really no other possible ending for the angry robot. Twenty levels later, the Wizard remains exactly what it promised to be: fragile, complicated, occasionally frustrating, and capable of solving problems with a spell list large enough to qualify as infrastructure. KEY TAKEAWAYS High-level Wizards are still defined more by their spells than their class features. The Wizard's defensive and weapon progression remains painfully slow, so positioning and magical defenses continue to matter. High-level spellcasting is where the class really comes alive, with options like Contingency, Time Beacon, Phantasmal Calamity, Falling Stars, Disappearance, and a frankly unreasonable number of meteor-related solutions. Ash's Red Mantis build becomes an extremely capable infiltrator and assassin built around stealth, deception, illusions, invisibility, and making other people look responsible. Tyler's Rune Lord doubles down on damage, persistent effects, intimidation, and the general philosophy that being angry enough should eventually become a damage type. Randall's Universalist shows how powerful Drain Bonded Item can become when you keep investing in ways to recover and recycle spells. Reprepare Spell trades downtime for reusable low-rank utility, while Infinite Possibilities sacrifices some raw spell-slot power for tremendous flexibility. Effortless Concentration is an easy standout for Wizards who rely on sustained spells. Scare to Death on an angry Rune Lord is exactly as stupid and wonderful as it sounds. 10th-rank spells are deliberately limited, but Freeze Time, Cataclysm, Manifestation, and the other options make that single slot feel appropriately enormous. Spell Shape Mastery is a fantastic capstone if your build has invested heavily in spell-shaping feats. Free Archetype opens even more directions, including Rogue or Captivator for Ash's assassin, additional spellcasting options for Randall, and apparently more explosions for Tyler. Pathfinder's line-of-effect rules are all that stand between civilization and unrestricted Wizard war crimes. Most importantly, Tyler got twenty full levels of Wizard and still wanted more. Today I have the honor and privilege to speak with poet and physician Fady Joudah about his stunning new book-- Exhibit G: Poems, Essays, and Photographs of Gaza. Along with powerful and demanding texts, Exhibit G features a collection of photographs of Gaza presented in collaboration with Hani Almadhoun and the Gaza Soup Kitchen. Together, we are confronted with a demand to witness without translating the experience into what Joudah calls “Palestine in English.” The totality of the experience is at once devastating, horrifying, but also at times beautiful and literally beyond words. Along with reading portions of the essays and poems, Fady Joudah offers his usual probing readings of Palestinian history, culture, literature, and social life. No other document so forcefully and comprehensively expresses this genocide.Fady Joudah is a Palestinian American physician, poet, and translator. He was born in Austin, Texas, and grew up in Libya and Saudi Arabia. He was educated at the University of Georgia, the Medical College of Georgia, and the University of Texas Health Sciences in Houston. In 2002 and 2005 he worked with Doctors Without Borders in Zambia and Sudan, respectively.Joudah's debut collection of poetry, The Earth in the Attic (2008), won the 2007 Yale Series of Younger Poets competition, chosen by Louise Glück. Joudah followed his second book of poetry, Alight (2013) with Textu (2014), a collection of poems written on a cell phone wherein each piece is exactly 160 characters long. His fourth collection is Footnotes in the Order of Disappearance (2018). In 2014, Joudah was a Guggenheim Fellow in poetry. As critic Charles Bainbridge observed in a 2008 Guardian review of The Earth in the Attic, “Joudah's poetry thrives on dramatic shifts in perspective, on continually challenging received notions.”Joudah translated several collections of Palestinian poet Mahmoud Darwish's work in The Butterfly's Burden (2006), which won the Banipal prize from the UK and was a finalist for the PEN Award for Poetry in Translation; and in If I Were Another, which won a PEN USA award in 2010. His translation of Ghassan Zaqtan's Like a Straw Bird It Follows Me (2012) won the Griffin International Poetry Prize in 2013. His other translations include Amjad Nasser's Petra: The Concealed Rose and A Map of Signs and Scents.Joudah lives with his family in Houston, where he works as a physician of internal medicine.

When tourists found an abandoned bicycle on a remote track in Australia's Great Sandy Desert, it triggered one of the strangest missing person searches in outback history — police, aircraft, and Aboriginal trackers combing the Kimberley for a man who had vanished without telling anyone where he was going. Twelve days in, the search was called off and his family was told he was almost certainly dead, so they hired a private American wilderness rescue team led by a man who insisted on being called Gunslinger. What none of them knew was that he had walked into the desert deliberately, on a spiritual quest, and had no idea anyone was searching for him at all. Forty-three days of starvation, dehydration and roughly 250 miles on foot later, a helicopter found him alive — and set off a fight that reached the Premier of Western Australia, while the man who led the rescue turned out to have invented his entire past. Twenty-five years on, one of the trackers who searched for him asked him for a single word, and what he said instead is still an uncomfortable part of this story.Timestamps: 00:00 Podcast Intro Setup00:30 Mud Water In The Desert02:22 Abandoned Bike Mystery03:18 No One Knew The Plan06:36 Spiritual Quest Revealed07:34 Search Begins With Trackers09:27 Media Frenzy And Survival Math10:28 Search Called Off Parents React11:57 Gunslinger Arrives Private Team15:06 Fresh Tracks And Desert Ordeal18:52 Help Sign And Found Alive21:49 News Crew Rescue Controversy25:10 Hospital Risks Refeeding27:22 Costs Rumors And Apology30:04 Gunslinger Exposed As Fraud33:27 The Tracker Story And Apology35:26 Final Reflections And OutroREFERENCESParke, Erin. Rico Omarr Harris had once seemed destined for a life in basketball. Standing 6-foot-9, Rico was a standout player who attracted attention from college scouts, led Los Angeles City College to a state championship, and eventually played briefly for the Harlem Globetrotters. But years after his basketball career had taken an unexpected turn, Rico was preparing for a new chapter of his life. On October 10, 2014, 37-year-old Rico Omarr Harris left his mother's home in Alhambra, California, and began driving north toward Seattle, where he planned to reunite with his longtime girlfriend and start a new life. He spoke with his mother while driving through the Sacramento area and later left a voicemail for his girlfriend. Then, he vanished. Three days later, Rico's black Nissan was discovered abandoned at a remote Yolo County Regional Parks location along State Route 16. His vehicle was there, but Rico was nowhere to be found. Extensive searches of the surrounding area produced no trace of him, and despite the passage of more than a decade, Rico Harris remains missing. What happened to the former basketball star in Yolo County? Why did he leave his vehicle behind? And how does a man who stood nearly seven feet tall seemingly disappear without a trace? In June of 1987, sixteen-year-old Theresa Ann Bier disappeared into the Sierra Nevada mountains of California. She had gone into the mountains with 43-year-old Russell “Skip” Welch, a man who was fascinated by Bigfoot and claimed to know where the creatures could be found. Theresa never returned. What followed was one of the strangest missing-person investigations imaginable.Welch gave investigators conflicting accounts of what had happened. A campsite he initially identified was later questioned by investigators, who believed the scene may have been staged. Another campsite was located miles away, in the remote area of Ghost Canyon. And eventually, Welch gave investigators an explanation that would make Theresa's disappearance infamous:He claimed Bigfoot had taken her.But was that really what happened? In this episode, we take a detailed look at Theresa's life before she disappeared, the circumstances surrounding her trip into the mountains, the search for her, Russell Welch's changing stories, the investigation and arrest, and the many theories that have surrounded the case for nearly four decades. We'll also explore the darker side of the story, including allegations surrounding Theresa's difficult childhood and the troubled environment in which she was living before her disappearance.Nearly forty years later, Theresa remains missing. There is no confirmed grave. No confirmed explanation. And no definitive answer to the question that has haunted her family for decades:What happened to Theresa Bier?A note about the caseSome of the information concerning Theresa's childhood, the allegations surrounding people in her life, and the theories involving other possible suspects comes from later interviews, investigative reporting and secondary sources rather than officially established facts. Those claims are presented as allegations or theories, not as proven facts.Theresa Ann Bier remains officially listed as missing by the California Department of Justice. If you have information about Theresa Bier's disappearance, please contact the Fresno Police Department.

When Ellie Green left her house on the night of June 19, 2019, she thought she and her mother would continue their conversation the following day. However, Ellie says that she was shocked to discover that, just four days later, her father had her mother committed to a psychiatric hospital and she wouldn't be allowed to see her. She was even more shocked when, a month later, she says that she was told that her mother had died from a stroke while in the hospital. Devastated by her mother's death, Ellie wanted an explanation of how someone so young could suddenly die, but each question was met with vague and confusion answers. This was just the beginning of the mystery surrounding her mother's disappearance. If anyone has any information about Angela Green's disappearance, investigators urge them to call the TIPS Hotline at 816-474-TIPS. Information can also be sent to Steve Ridge directly at (319) 573-0657 or steveridge40@gmail.com. References Adler, Eric. 2023. "$25k reward offered for information on missing woman." Elisa Lam's death at the Cecil Hotel remains one of the internet age's most haunting true crime mysteries, even though the case received an official ruling. In January 2013, the twenty-one-year-old Canadian traveler disappeared from the notorious downtown Los Angeles hotel after appearing in the now-famous Cecil Hotel elevator video. Nineteen days after she was last publicly seen, she was found inside a rooftop water tank. This pre-Halloween true crime investigation follows the documented Elisa Lam case while separating evidence from the haunted-hotel folklore that grew around it. We examine the Cecil Hotel's dark history, Elisa's final days at Stay on Main, the LAPD search, the elevator doors that remained open, the rooftop-access question, the open tank hatch, and the Los Angeles County medical examiner's conclusion: accidental drowning, with bipolar disorder listed as a significant contributing condition. The silent elevator footage became one of the defining creepy videos of modern true crime. Viewers searched it for a hidden pursuer, a ghost, an edited-out figure, the Elevator Game, or proof that the Cecil Hotel was cursed. Early reports made the roof sound unreachable and suggested Elisa could not have entered a sealed tank alone. But court filings and the maintenance worker's sworn account reveal a more grounded - and still deeply frightening - story. As Halloween season approaches, Elisa Lam's story continues to circulate through haunted-hotel lists, paranormal theories, real-life horror collections, Netflix documentaries, and true crime podcasts. This episode explores why the official explanation never satisfied the internet, how web sleuths transformed ambiguity into modern folklore, and what is lost when a vulnerable young woman becomes only the figure in a red hoodie. Inside this episode:Elisa Lam's 2013 disappearance from the Cecil Hotel and Stay on MainWhat the viral elevator video actually shows, including the door-hold controlThe rooftop water tank, open hatch, and possible access routesThe medical examiner's accidental-drowning ruling and toxicology evidenceRichard Ramirez, Jack Unterweger, the Black Dahlia claim, and the Cecil Hotel's haunted reputationThe Elevator Game, Dark Water parallels, Netflix, web sleuths, and modern folklore Was the Cecil Hotel case ever an impossible locked-room mystery - or did millions of viewers build a supernatural story from everything the camera could not show? We're telling that story tonight.

In July 2003, 34-year-old Shawn Johnson was in New Orleans for a conference. And he did WHAT ANY OF US WOULD DO and tacked on a few days for a little bit of fun. On his last night in town, he found himself at an infamous bar called The Dungeon where he met a group of people who he invited back to his hotel room to fill the hot tub with Champagne and continue the party. Again, like any of us would do. However, Shawn would, tragically, be found dead in the room the following morning. On the walls of the room were ripped up and torn out pages from the bible. And on the bed, the creepiest homemade doll - WITH REAL HUMAN HAIR - that was ever created. The search for Shawn's killers was a mess. But in the end, some sort of justice prevailed.
