Empty Brass is honored to welcome back the CEO of Trex-arms Luckas Botkin. There is no question that Lucas is a polarizing figure within the gun industry, but despite his biggest critics he has always been committed to doing the right thing based on his convictions. 2020 has been a wild ride for all of us, and we asked Lucas to find out how the lock down and riots impacted things at Trex-arms, as well as what they had done to prepare for incidents like these before hand. Lucas has always been an advocate of civilians owning basic kit, including a helmet, plate carrier, and night vision (if affordable) which has been heavily criticized by some for "larping'. Its fair to say that during the summer when every major city as well as smaller ones were rioting and burning the need for this basic kit became clear. Lucas stood by this position, and in our opinion was vindicated over the summer, and Lucas shares his opinion on what it was like to be right in an overwhelming way. Lucas continues to lead through these quickly changing times, and it was our pleasure to have him as guest for a second time. He may be the best practical shooter of all time, after dominating the revolver division for over 2 decades, he recreated himself in the quickly growing sport of 3-gun. CJ sat down with Jerry again on season 2, and got his take on all of the twists and turns that 2020 has brought thus far. They also went down some parts of Jerry's career as well as discussed his father-in-law Jim Clark Sr who owned and operated Clark custom guns. This year has been a roller coaster, and Jerry talks about some of his struggles getting motivated to train, mostly due to the fact that many matches have been cancelled. It is truly an honor having Jerry on Empty Brass for the second time, and its hard to really express the our gratitude. Jerry is not only one of the most talented shooters in the world, he is a genuine stand up man's man. He believes in being competitive, doing the little things, and above all else winning. Jerry has adapted and continued to find ways to win, and also remained a shining example of what every shooter should strive to be both on the range and off. In this world we must play the game to win, not to insult. When we encounter friends, family, or even strangers the way a gun supporter speaks and acts could potentially persuade the person to supporting gun rights or drive them away.
