View this sermon (with video and/or audio recording) on our website: https://www.lordoflords.org/sermons/united-in-the-trinity/The local youth are spending too much time in the billiard parlor. That's going to lead to bad habits of smoking cigarettes, chewing tobacco, and reading dime novels. It will lead to bad language like "swell" and "so's your old man." It will lead to loitering, missing school, and mocking public officials.Harold Hill starts to influence the townsfolk by singing, "Ya got trouble ... Right here in River City! With a capital T and that rhymes with P and that stands for Pool!"Harold Hill starts this moral panic out of thin air. He wants to scare parents into buying band instruments from him. There's a lot of division in River City. The School Board is constantly bickering until they start singing in a Barbershop Quartet. The old ladies don't like the young, pretty librarian. The mayor doesn't like his daughter's boyfriend or the idea of a boys' band.St. Paul didn't need to create any division in the Corinthian congregation. There was plenty there. Read Paul's first letter to the Corinthian Christians to hear him tell the story. Paul begins his letter by writing, "I ask that you all express the same view and not have any divisions among you, but that you be joined together in the same mind and in the same judgment" (1 Corinthians 1:10). In the Corinthian church, the people were divided over their favorite pastor; some were boasting of their acceptance of sin; some were bringing lawsuits against other Christians; others were partaking of the Lord's Table on Sunday after eating at the table of demons on Saturday; some were boasting about their spiritual gifts; and others were trying to discredit Paul and his gifts. Their church was filled with disorder and division. These problems caused the church to be splintered and hostile. Paul could very easily have written in one of his letters, "Ya got trouble ... Right here in Corinth City!"Paul knew that Jesus desired for his Church to be unified. So, as Christ's called apostle, he worked to lead God's people to repent and forgive one another. Paul spoke strongly and lovingly about the work of Satan among them, begging them to leave their wicked ways and to unite around God's truths.Paul could not accomplish this unity on his own. That's why he closed his second letter to the Corinthians with this threefold blessing: "The grace of the Lord Jesus Christ, and the love of God, and the fellowship of the Holy Spirit be with you all" (2 Corinthians 13:14).Disunity and division aren't limited to Corinth or River City. There's plenty of disunity and division in America. People are divided over politics of Left or Right. They're divided over issues like immigration, Iran, and data centers. Wyoming residents are divided over Colorado residents. Well, not really. It seems Wyomingites are united that Coloradans should stay in their own state.
It's Mailbag Friday! You've got questions, we've got answers. Segment 1 • James asks for advice on repairing his relationships with his children. • Anonymous wonders if casual swearing reveals a deeper heart issue — or even a lack of desire to honor Christ. Segment 2 • Jeff asks: “When is it finally appropriate to draw hard boundaries with unbelievers?” • Anonymous wrestles with a difficult medical question: Is refusing chemotherapy an act of faith… or presumption? • Glen asks how Christians can tell whether a Bible verse applies directly to believers today without ripping it out of context. Segment 3 • Laramie admits that the thought of living forever sometimes feels overwhelming — is that fear normal for Christians? • Jonathan asks how pastors should faithfully preach through massive Old Testament books without losing their congregation. • Would spending an entire year preaching through Psalms or Isaiah actually be wise? Segment 4 • Megan asks whether Christians really have guardian angels — or if that idea comes more from tradition than Scripture. • Jess wonders if dreams that seem prophetic are truly from God or something else entirely. • Jeff questions whether believers calling each other “queen,” “king,” and “prince” reflects Christian identity… or worldly thinking. • Anonymous asks why marriage is often emphasized more than full-time ministry when both are high callings. • Alan wrestles with a sobering question during Pride Month: Is pride the root beneath every other sin? ___ Thanks for listening! Today on the show, the Laramie County Sheriff's office recently had the highest number of immigration arrests of any enforcement agency in the U.S. They're promoting it on Facebook. Wyoming's plan to use more than $200 million to transform rural healthcare just got the green light. We hear what's in it. And we hear from a baroque violinist – who's also an alfalfa farmer outside Pavilion. Those stories and more.

Send us Fan MailIn this episode, hosts Scott Kuhlman and Chasity Owens continue their deep dive into NFPA 921 Chapter 6 with Part 2: Fire Patterns. The episode blends real-world case studies with foundational fire science, reinforcing how fire investigators interpret patterns, validate origin hypotheses, and apply the scientific method in the field.Listeners are first brought into two compelling case studies: a hybrid vehicle fire with origin traced to the rear hatchback area despite severe damage, and a commercial fire involving a lithium-ion battery-powered blower where pattern interpretation was later confirmed through video evidence. These examples highlight the importance of pattern recognition, corroboration, and resisting premature conclusions. The discussion then transitions into core concepts from NFPA 921 Chapter 6, including fire effects, fire pattern generation, and pattern geometry. The hosts emphasize that fire patterns are not standalone proof of origin but must be analyzed alongside fire dynamics, heat release rate, ventilation, and witness statements.Key learning points include: Fire patterns reveal movement and intensity, not cause by themselves Misinterpretation risks (e.g., “pour patterns”) and the importance of avoiding bias The role of heat release rate and ventilation as primary drivers of pattern development Practical application of the scientific method for origin determinationThe episode also explores legal-style questioning, helping investigators strengthen courtroom articulation and defend their methodology under scrutiny. To wrap up, the hosts introduce upcoming training opportunities and reinforce the importance of continued education, collaboration, and critical thinking in the evolving field of fire investigation.Alabama Chapter IAAI – 2026 Free Spring Training (April 7, 2026 – Decatur, AL) International Association of Arson Investigators ITC Conference (April 26–30, 2026 – St. Louis, MO) Montana IAAI Annual Training Conference (May 12–14, 2026 – Billings, MT) Wyoming IAAI Annual Conference (June 10–12, 2026 – Laramie, WY) Georgia IAAI Annual Training Conference (July 27–30, 2026 – Savannah, GA)Thank you for listening! Welcome to another episode of the Sustainable Clinical Medicine Podcast! Our host Dr. Sarah Smith interviews Coleman Associates staff Amanda Laramie and Chief Innovation Officer Adrienne Mann about how Coleman Associates helps healthcare clinics—especially community health centers—redesign care delivery through their Dramatic Performance Improvement (DPI) methodology. Adrienne describes how Coleman's work in her Chicago community health center targeted goals such as cycle time under 30 minutes (from patient arrival to departure), no-show rate under 5%, and 100% real-time charting completion, leading to improved patient and staff satisfaction and reduced burnout. They explain cycle time as a measure of organized care and patient experience, and discuss how patient visit tracking reveals bottlenecks, handoffs, and physical-layout issues that slow flow. They cover strategies to reduce no-shows, framing them as a sign of a broken relationship and an access problem; examples include mystery shopper calls to identify barriers like long hold times, easier cancellation processes, and proactive visit confirmation and preparation. They discuss role realignment and preparing for visits through team-based workflows, including the “sheep-shepherd model” where MAs or nurses shepherd clinic flow to protect clinician time, reduce interruptions, and support “today's work done today.” Specific tactics include team “dance steps,” robust intake and concise handoffs, the “midway knock” check-in (physical or virtual), and having staff “bodyguard” clinicians while charting to prevent interruptions and avoid getting behind on notes. They also discuss inbox/worklist overload, aiming for net-zero inbox at day's end through better routing/oversight, team support for tasks, and a “red carpet exit” to reduce follow-up calls by addressing questions and ensuring orders/referrals are completed before the patient leaves. The conversation addresses individual needs and disabilities (including neurodiversity), emphasizing that frontline staff should design and adapt solutions; examples include noise-canceling headphones for charting and using space creatively (e.g., an exam room as a quiet charting space). They discuss shifting visit prep from clinicians to teams so multiple “brains” are aware of patient needs (e.g., hospital follow-ups, missing labs, forms), including pre-visit calls asking about ED visits, specialists, and concerns. They argue checkbox-heavy requirements (e.g., Medicare-related items) should be handled by nurses or staff through pre-visit “concierge” workflows, and note EHR limitations can be addressed through optimization and interdisciplinary decisions about filing and access. They conclude by encouraging curiosity and questioning existing systems (“why” thinking), noting that everything is changeable except load-bearing walls, and provide ways to find Coleman Associates online. They state they primarily work across the U.S. but are open to working anywhere, including Canada and Australia. Here are 3 key takeaways from this episode: Cycle Time Under 30 Minutes Indicates Organized Care: Cycle time (patient arrival to departure) isn't about rushing—it's about eliminating confusion, handoffs, and mishaps. Shorter cycle times mean better-organized care that respects patients' time, especially those without PTO or childcare access. The goal is efficiency through coordination, not speed through corners cut. No-Shows Signal Broken Relationships, Not Patient Irresponsibility: When no-show rates exceed 10-15%, it reveals systemic issues: long hold times making cancellations difficult, appointments booked months in advance, or lack of relationship-building. The solution involves confirmation calls, easier cancellation processes, and recognizing that patients who no-show often need care the most—they're the ones appearing in emergency departments instead. The Shepherd-Sheep Model Empowers Teams and Protects Clinician Focus: Medical assistants and nurses should "shepherd" the clinician's flow—staying slightly ahead, looping back to check needs, and bodyguarding charting time from interruptions. This allows clinicians to focus on what only they can do while the care team handles preparation, coordination, and protection of workflow. The result: 100% real-time charting completion becomes achievable. Meet Amanda Laramie & Adrienne Mann: Amanda is experienced in process design, training, and leadership development. What role did crystal meth and other previously underreported factors play in the brutal murder of gay college student Matthew Shepard? The Book of Matt is a page-turning cautionary tale that humanizes and de-mythologizes Matthew while following the evidence where it leads, without regard to the politics that have long attended this American tragedy.Late on the night of October 6, 1998, twenty-one-year-old Matthew Shepard left a bar in Laramie, Wyoming with two alleged “strangers,” Aaron McKinney and Russell Henderson. Eighteen hours later, Matthew was found tied to a log fence on the outskirts of town, unconscious and barely alive. He had been pistol-whipped so severely that the mountain biker who discovered his battered frame mistook him for a Halloween scarecrow. Overnight, a politically expedient myth took the place of important facts. By the time Matthew died a few days later, his name was synonymous with anti-gay hate. Stephen Jimenezwent to Laramie to research the story of Matthew Shepard's murder in 2000, after the two men convicted of killing him had gone to prison, and after the national media had moved on. His aim was to write a screenplay on what he, and the rest of the nation, believed to be an open-and-shut case of bigoted violence. As a gay man, he felt an added moral imperative to tell Matthew's story. But what Jimenez eventually found in Wyoming was a tangled web of secrets. His exhaustive investigation also plunged him deep into the deadly underworld of drug trafficking. Over the course of a thirteen-year investigation, Jimenez traveled to twenty states and Washington DC, and interviewed more than a hundred named sources. The Book of Matt is sure to stir passions and inspire dialogue as it re-frames this misconstrued crime and its cast of characters, proving irrefutably that Matthew Shepard was not killed for being gay but for reasons far more complicated — and daunting.https://amzn.to/45JT9CvBecome a supporter of this podcast: https://www.spreaker.com/podcast/the-opperman-report--1198501/support.

Eric Ambel's career got its start in "the first punk band in Wyoming" in the 70s. Imagine trying to launch a music career from Laramie! He eventually becomes the guitarist in the Blackhearts with Joan Jett, but opts not to sign on (the job went to recent guest Ricky Byrd) and goes on to form the Del-Lords with former Dictator guitarist Scott Kempner. They released four albums in the late 80s (two of them produced by Neil Giraldo) before calling it quits. From there Eric focuses more on his solo career, touring with other acts, and production work which has him collaborating with people like Steve Earle, Mojo Nixon, Ellen Foley, Nils Lofgren and a bunch more. "Roscoe" is still at it too and has a story to tell. Enjoy! Eric Ambel The Hustle Podcast | creating podcasts | Patreon
