At SHOT Show 2026, I sat down with Joe Hamilton, CEO of Vortex Optics, for a conversation that goes way beyond optics, sales, or gear.Joe's journey started on the floor of his family's small retail shop in Wisconsin, long before the boardroom. That early exposure to people, service, and doing things the right way shaped what would become Vortex's defining edge: a relentless focus on human connection. In this After Dark episode, we dig into leadership, the Care Movement, and why people-first culture beats short-term efficiency every time. We talk about building trust, leading with purpose, and creating loyalty that can't be bought. This one's about heart, hustle, and human performance — the kind that actually lasts.Sit back and enjoy this After Dark conversation with Joe Hamilton, CEO of Vortex Optics, here on the Iron Sides Podcast.Timestamps:00:00 Intro04:38 Joe's Background11:49 Vortex Growth24:19 Leadership43:31 Efficiency vs People48:58 Customer First57:57 Hiring01:04:45 Scaling01:21:28 Caring Culture01:39:42 Family Business01:46:47 InnovationRed Dot Fitness Train Online: http://rdftrainonline.com/Online Membership (Full Access To All Programs & Virtual Coaching):https://www.reddotfitness.net/online-membershipVirtual Coaching:https://www.reddotfitness.net/virtual-coachingSelf-Guided Programs:https://www.reddotfitness.net/Self-Guided-Programs1Connect With Us:Website - https://ironsightspodcast.com/Instagram - https://www.instagram.com/ironsightspodcast/Facebook - https://www.facebook.com/

Double Tap - Ep 447 This episode of Double Tap is brought to you by: Midwest Industries (Code: WLSISLIFE) Night Fision (Code: WLSISLIFE) Die Free Co. (Code: WLSISLIFE) Blue Alpha Second Call Defense Swampfox Optics Text Dear WLS or Reviews +1 743 500 2171 New Public notes page. DEAR WLS Question from Anonymous Coward from CA (krista)Why isn't 6.5 grendel more popular? Question from Anonymous Coward from CA (krista)Jeremy just said that there's no other cartridge that'll do the work of a 300 blackout sub sonic. Why isn't sub sonic 350 legend, 450 bm, 458 socom etc. more popular for subsonic work? They all have more energy at the same velocity because bigger pill Question from Alex W. from FL (krista)Dear WLS. Can y'all recommend a 9mm subgun can for around $500? Preferably outside diameter of 1.62″ or less because that gives me more options for a suppressor tuck rail. But, if I have to go up to 1.7″ that's not a deal breaker. If it matters, it would be going on a stribog sp9a1. Thanks Alex W. Question from Alex W from Florida (krista)Dear WLS. Do you guys have any experience with the newer magpul metal pistol mags? Im pretty sure they make them for the p320 but what im most interested in is I'm pretty sure I saw that they're supposed to be coming out with metal p365 mags. I want a pile of mags for my xmacro but at $50 each from sig, that gets expensive fast. A cheaper one from magpul would be awesome as long as it works well. Thanks Alex W Question from Scott-G from WA (krista)Scott-G here 2 things 1 I was looking through mid west ind.'s extensive portfolio and noticed I could not find a m-lok to Arca adapter ( shut up Jeremy ARCA is superior to pic for precision work pic reigns supreme for optics and door kicking accessory mounts) . With your influence with mid west that might be a cool product to suggest 2 I asked last time what was up with Brownells and you kinda dodged the question. To be specific can we get an update as to who are the latest sponsors and what were the circumstances / situations that coused the splits with old sponsors. We listeners tend to trust you guys and knowing the back story often helps us decide where to support with our purchasing power. ( another example is swamp fox I have a decent Idea of why they are gone but confirmation would be nice) Question from John B from TX (krista)Dear WLS, I've been looking for a CZ P10C Ported lately, but I can't find one anywhere, including online(except for 1 on guns.com but they're selling it for $999 because it's the only 1). Everyone seems to have been out of stock of this thing for a while. Any idea what the deal is? Did CZ stop production or something? Thanks, John B #fuckaaron #teamjeremy #nonotes GUN INDUSTRY NEWS Vortex Unveils ACE Ballistic Weather Meter for Precision Shooters (Shawn)Vortex has released the ACE Ballistic Weather Meter, a compact device designed to deliver real-time environmental data critical for long-range shooting. In this episode of the Guns Podcast U.S., hosts Brent Wheat and Roy Huntington celebrate a massive milestone—surpassing one million certified audio downloads! After a quick victory lap, Brent dives into his fresh report from the floor of SHOT Show. He debunks the wild rumors regarding a stabbing incident near the venue and gives a boots-on-the-ground assessment of the show's attendance and atmosphere, noting a distinct downturn in the industry's energy compared to previous years. The conversation shifts to the major hardware trends observed at the show. Brent and Roy discuss the explosion of the suppressor market, which is seeing a "race to the bottom" in pricing, and the influx of direct-from-manufacturer Chinese optics filling the "dungeon" (the lower level of the expo). They explore the implications of these commodities on American innovation and intellectual property. Finally, they touch on the renaissance of revolvers, specifically the painful reality of shooting Smith & Wesson's new ultra-lightweight magnums, and the enduring value of face-to-face networking in the gun community. Key Takeways • The Guns Podcast U.S. has officially surpassed 1 million IAB-certified audio downloads. • The rumored "stabbing at SHOT Show" was likely an unrelated altercation between gamblers near the venue entrance. • The overall vibe of SHOT Show suggested the gun industry is currently in a down cycle, with fewer exhibitors and R&D budgets shifted to maintenance. • Suppressors are becoming commoditized, with prices dropping significantly (some near $200), raising questions about the future of premium manufacturers. • There is a noticeable increase in Chinese optic manufacturers selling directly at the show, moving beyond just stealing IP to competing with budget products. • Smith & Wesson's new lightweight .357 Magnum revolvers are technically impressive but physically painful to shoot with full-house loads. • Despite market fluctuations, the "family reunion" aspect of industry gatherings remains a vital part of the gun culture. --- The Guns Podcast is presented by TangoDown. This week on ZERT Coffee & Chaos, we're blending the chaos of the streets with the latest from the firearm industry. First up: the fallout from Minneapolis — following two controversial officer-involved shootings by federal immigration agents, including the fatal January 24 shooting of 37-year-old ICU nurse Alex Pretti — the city has erupted in protests and heated clashes. Pretti's death, coming just weeks after the January 7 killing of Renee Good by an ICE agent during an expansive federal immigration operation, has amplified calls for accountability, intensified civil unrest, and driven new operational guidance for ICE officers in the state. We'll break down how law enforcement tactics shifted, how community and political leaders are responding, and what this means for federal-local relations in Minneapolis and beyond. Then we pivot to SHOT Show 2026 takeaways — because chaos in the street meets innovation at the range. This year's industry buzz showcased an undeniable resurgence of 2011-pattern pistols, with manufacturers pushing the platform hard. From duty-ready double-stack builds to lightweight competition rigs, these modern 2011s are showing up across price tiers and performance envelopes, proving the category has matured well beyond its roots. Expect deeper discussions on triggers, ergonomics, modularity, and why 2011s are suddenly everywhere on the market. And of course, we'll unpack that pistol everyone's talking about — the Dragon from Rideout Arsenal. With its ultra-low bore axis, lever-delayed blowback system, and optics integration that turns heads, the Dragon represents a bold step in handgun design for competition shooters and enthusiasts alike. We'll break down what makes it different, who it's built for, and whether this trendsetter has legs beyond SHOT Show hype. Tune in for expert insights, unfiltered analysis, and the kind of conversation you won't hear anywhere else — because in this world, there's always coffee brewing and chaos unfolding. ☕

Glock Gen 6 rumors are everywhere — but most of what's being repeated online isn't coming from Glock at all. From the SHOT Show floor, we break down where the Gen 6 narrative started, what Glock has actually said, and how lawsuits and compliance pressure are distorting public expectations. This episode also covers how California's handgun roster warps design timelines, availability assumptions, and consumer logic — and why people keep projecting motives onto Glock that don't align with how the company operates. Beyond Glock, we move through major Second Amendment developments including Supreme Court arguments, an open carry lawsuit update, ATF marijuana enforcement conflicts, and cultural analysis that the mainstream coverage keeps missing.

The sports, hunting, and outdoor trade show, better known as SHOT show, takes place every year in Las Vegas, and for the first time, The Prepared Mindset was able to attend. This is something that I've been working towards and very much anticipating, as many do, for a long time, and was every bit the learning and networking opportunity that I had hoped it would be. Lexy and I sit down and recap the trip, talk about what we did, who we saw, and what we learned. Truly, if you've never attended, I'm just not sure that there are words that can sufficiently explain to you the sheer amount of "stuff" that you'll find throughout the show floor. From nylon gear to night vision, from ammo to armor, and obviously firearms galore, there's a ton to see out in the desert. I loved the trip, and loved the experience, and am already looking forward to next years event!Visit our sponsors! Our Patreon - www.patreon.com/prepared_mindset_podCustom Night Vision - www.customnightvision.com
