Tune in as Ben (@kctoons), Jeff (@Jo11yPenguin) and Tim (TH_KC) converse about whatever topic happens to cross their minds. Videogames, movies, politics and whatever else might arise. Hilarity ensues!
We return back to our Star Wars play session again this go round. Due to an inexplicable interference issue with the previous episode, we actually lost our 2nd game session, so this is actually the 3rd time we sat down with Star Wars Edge of the Empire. Jeff was able to recruit his wife Katy for her first ever Tabletop RPG session, so there was excitement all around. She gives us her thoughts on RPG's in general at the tail end of the podcast as well as some more general feedback we have about Fantasy Flight's new RPG. As always, we're open to suggestions, feedback and of course glorious 5 star reviews on iTunes, so do us a favor and take a few seconds to write down 'These dudes are funny' somewhere for us. Thanks gang!
Back from the dead AND with a new mic! Happy New Year everyone. With the holidays behind us and hellish late December/Early January schedules in our rearview, we're able to get back into the swing of regular podcasting again. I'm going to go ahead and christen this as Season 2 of the Geek Dad's Podcast. This week we're playing our version of Nerd Poker with the new Star Wars RPG: Edge of the Empire! Brand new from Fantasy Flight games, and as I'm a sucker for anything Star Wars, I picked up the beginner box and started harassing Ben and Jeff to play. Word of warning: We don't discuss anything outside of the game, this is a fairly dense gameplay-only recording. We spend about an hour on character and setting building and kick off the adventure in hour two. Yes, it's two hours long. Consider yourself warned. If you're into Star Wars, tabletop games or rpg's then this is the podcast for you! Intro/Outro should be fairly obvious for the dorkage, so enjoy. As always we're up for suggestions or recommendations on show topics and/or music samples so send them over! Thanks again everyone, have a great week!
Back in the saddle! Over the devoured styrofoam carcass of the Chinese buffet carry-out, the Geek Dads do some more "Dad" chat, discuss the finer points of the Kennedy assassination and Jeff drops a little comic knowledge on us. Appologies for the low-tones of the podcast, we're still getting the feel for each of our respective recording studios, so bear with us while we hammer things out. Other than that, enjoy the podcast everyone. If you can spare a minute or two feel free to stop by our Facebook page at Facebook.com/GeekDadsPodcast, our Podomatic site at geekdadspodcast.podomatic.com or drop us some reviews on iTunes. Thanks again for listening everyone, have a week! Editorial note: Jeff is a real actual professional jeweler, and as such is swamped this time of year, so this may mark the end of his appearances until the holiday season passes, so get your Jeff fix now. He's huggable, send him a hug! Intro/Outro: "Open" by Comptroller. We're open to recommendation on a new song if anyone is interested or has a suggestion. Maybe a song of the week? hmmmm
Bite sized episode! Snack sized shenanigans! Fun sized funnies! Due to some baby issues the episode was cut down a bit abruptly, as always the 'Dads' part takes priority over the 'Geek' part. In this week we discuss a bevy of bathroom related issues (sorry), the beatific majesty that is Rachel Maddow, the freak show that TLC has turned into and our regular shotgun blast of topics. GAME OF THRONES SPOILER ALERT!!! If you have any interest in the series and aren't all caught up, we discuss some massive Westerosi spoilers between the 25:00 and 28:35 minute marks. After 28:35 you're all clear. Thanks for listening everyone! Check out our brand new Facebook page at Facebook.com/GeekDadsPodcast. We would REALLY appreciate a review on iTunes as well. Call it an early Christmas present if you like. Thanks folks! Have a week! Into/Outro Music: "Open" by Comptroller
Back from hiatus! Due to some family events and illness we were delayed a bit this month (It is Geek "Dads" after all). In this podcast we're playing "Last Night on Earth" by Flying Frog Games, a great zombie-themed board game. It's an excellent way to spend a few hours devouring your friends as a member of the undead hordes. As per usually we hit all over the conversational dartboard this episode, Breaking Bad, MMO's, younglings and a lot of game banter. Thanks for listening, have a week everyone! Intro/Outro: "Open" by Comptroller
We've got a super-sized edition of the Geek Dads Podcast this week. The BIG news of the week (that broke mere hours before we recorded) was the Disney purchase of all things Lucas, so that dominated a good potion of the conversation. With the election being (now) less than a week away we pretend to be adults and discuss a large amount of politics for the bulk of the podcast. (Fair warning: we're all self admitted bleeding heart liberal hippie communists.) True to title, we actually discuss our kids a bit more this week as well, sleep habits and videogame tendencies. It's a podcast that covers the broad spectrum of topics, as per usual. Intro/Outro Music is "The Blue Wraith" by I, Monster (Just in time for Halloween) Input and suggestions are always welcome, thanks gang. Have a week!
This week Mario Kart and Castle Crashers serve as the social lubricant of the evening, so expect plenty of expletives and bemoaning place in the finishing order. The Geek Dads actually discuss fatherhood (albeit briefly) and with Halloween around the corner, we get into some of our favorite Halloween movies as well as the finer points in monster attack prevention. We touch on a bit of the Iron Man 3 trailer as well. Special guest star Katy makes an appearance and Jeff drops some rather romantic geek knowledge on us as well. Intro and Outro music: "Open" by Comptroller. If anyone has any suggestions on some different music we're all ears!
Due to a few difficulties we were actually unable to get together this last week to record a podcast, so this is actually our first "dry run" as we called it from a few weeks ago. This was a trial to see if this format was even viable as something we'd want to go in the long run. So here 'tis. I think we start off talking about Pokemon and then quickly spiral off into politics and the virtues of the Indiana Jones movies. So yeah.. there's that. Enjoy! Intro/Outro music: "Open" by Comptroller (Taking submissions/suggestions for a "theme song" if you are feeling bold!)
The inaugural podcast has arrived, hewn from the very living mountains and laid bare before you, chiseled and unpolished, waiting to be sculpted into a fine masterpiece. We're new, be gentle. This podcast spans the realm of movies, videogames, tv and Derek Jeter one night stand gift bags. We told you it was all over the place, but never the less we think it's pretty funny. You just might learn a thing or two as well! (or not, whatever) Naughty Words Warning: Profanity is sprinkled throughout, but only the best kinds. Intro/Outro Music: "Open" by Comptroller
