Saluton, estas mi Tyson Saner, your host for this episode of Succotash, the Comedy Soundcast Soundcast, a soundcast that invented the word "soundcast" which is, sadly, still what most people refer to "podcasts" as…which is also what THIS is, as anybody who has listened to this program over its last 11 years already knows. Last week, in Epi316, show creator and executive producer Marc Hershon brought you an interview with Blaine Capatch who, in addition to being a standup comedian, is also a writer, a sketch performer, a husband, a father, a son, and a man who plays a druid character on the soundcast Nerd Poker, which has been featured on Succotash quite a few times over the years. It's a pretty fun episode and I recommend that you check it out at your earliest convenience. You can find that episode and every episode of Succotash in the show archives over at www.succotashshow.com This week, in an episode entitled, "Reach Out And Clip Someone", I've got three clips for you from the soundcasts known as The Greatest Song Ever Sung (Poorly), Mom Can't Cook! A DCOM Podcast, and The Co-Founder. This episode is brought to you by our 100% fake sponsor "Henderson's Pants"  and their new Passive Aggressive Pants, for when you just can't take it any more…but don't want anyone to know for sure. CLIPS The Greatest Song Ever Sung (Poorly) From the show detail: "The podcast that takes karaoke exactly as seriously as it should be taken." Hosts Adam Wainwright and Ed Cunard discuss an aspect of karaoke or music, and play a short round of trivia on that topic, where one of them challenges the other with five questions related to the topic, along with an Impossible Bonus question. Then they're joined by someone with a connection to that topic—and feature that guest singing karaoke (when possible…) Our clip springs from a recent episode drop on July 27th, 2022: "Who Knows What Evil Lurks in the Heart of Karaoke Singers: The Villains of Karaoke with Tiana Hennings (of the Next Door Villain soundcast). She has her own karaoke villain up her sleeve, but also some great stories about singing karaoke in China while studying abroad, what karaoke is like for the more casual karaoke fan, and how it's a great way to get out into a new place you're living and meet people. Mom Can't Cook! (A DCOM Podcast) Join hosts Luke Westaway and Andy Farrant for their brand new podcast Mom Can't Cook! in which they attempt to salvage something, anything from the fact that they've watched every single Disney Channel Original Movie from the late 90s and early 2000s. The title of their show comes from the premise that the mom character in the film is usually unable to cook, and this is considered richly comic. Our featured clip comes from their recently released premier episode "Smart House", from July 18th of this year. (The plot of this epic tale is that a young boy wins an intelligent house of the future, which starts off by stealing some of his blood, and then things go downhill from there.) The clip takes from the hosts' discussion of the capabilities of the "Smart House". The Co-Founder Starring Sunita Mani and Alexandra Shipp, two young start-up founders, both women of color, are on the brink of losing their company; a fate they narrowly avoid thanks to a hairbrained scheme to have their neighborhood barista— a white dude, of course— pretend to be the third founder in order to raise money. But when the barista reveals he has a scheme of his own to keep the company in his clutches, hijinks and hilarity ensue. The Co-Founder is a Realm production, starring Sunita Mani and Alexandra Shipp, and written by Alexis Wilkinson, Alexa Wejko, and Mimi Mondal. Which brings us neatly to the end of the show that I put together for you, the listener. I do hope something in the program caught your attention and perhaps has carved out a niche in your time for another listen. I also hope you listen to us in the future should you continue to have niches in your schedule freely available to you that you would share with us. I spoke earlier in the program about spending a little more time with some people that life, in the fashion in which my particular existence seems to be unfolding, has separated me from, and they from me. It seems to be the way of things. I bring it up because this coming weekend which will be the 20th and 21st of August, 2022, my brother is getting married. It's a pretty amazing time all around this year. Weddings have always given me a boost of optimism and this one does especially because I am so close to the people in question. That's pretty much how it works…the life experiences that are subjective to one's own particular perspective. I don't know anything about you, but when you have hope, I am happy for you. It might seem hard to find hope, but it is there to be had if you are open to it. That all being said, I hope that you feel compelled to tell others of our existence. You'd be doing us a really big favor. It's what we are referring to when we ask you to "Please pass the Succotash." — Tyson Saner

Thank you, Bill Heywatt! And greetings, honored soundcast listener! I am Marc Hershon, your every-other-weekly host, creator, and executive producer of this here Succotash, the Comedy Soundcast Soundcast. Special thanks to my erudite and unflappable alternating host of this show, Tyson Saner. Those who follow this show closely enough – is that you? – might have noticed that we missed dropping an episode a couple weeks ago, then Tyson picked up the slack last week with Epi315, which should have been my episode the preceding week. Following so far? Well, here's what happened. I was traveling for business. Not Succotash business but my day-job business, and I was clipping soundcasts while I was on the road. Listening to shows on planes, editing them in my hotel room,a nd trying to get it all together. Then I got “Delta shitty hand” – our keen-eared listener heard what I did there – and I had a flight cancel on the last leg before home. Not just before home, but before I could return to the Nerd Nest and my precious soundcasting equipment. Short story long, I couldn't get ‘er done in time to make it worth dropping for that week. It was going to be a show devoted to comedy sports soundcasts so I had to shelve that for a future show. And Tyson, bless his heart, reshuffled the show numbers so that in the box score that is the Succotash archives, no one will ever know that I screwed up. And now I owe my colleague one. Cash it in anytime, Tyson! If you happened to miss episode 315, entitled “the 3-Clip Tango”, Tyson featured snippets from a trio of comedy soundcasts which included The Winnebago Boys, Oxventure - A Dungeons & Dragons Podcast, and The Todd Glass Show. It was really a lovely roundup and I'd urge you to jump back a week in our feed and grab yourself an earful. Access that episode from your favorite soundcast dispensary, including – and I'm going to give you a pretty complete rundown here: Apple and Google Podcasts, Stitcher, Amazon Music, Audible, the Android app, Audacy, Blogger, Facebook, Gaana – not even sure what that is, iHeart Radio, the iPhone app, LinkedIn, Player.fm, PodBay, Pod Chaser, Radio Public, Soundcloud, Youtube, and now, after a lengthy boycott but now all is forgiven, back on Spotify. And, of course, every episode we've churned out over the last 11 and a half years can be scooped up in our archives at our homesite: SuccotashShow.com So now that I'm finally back in the saddle, what do I have in store for you for Episode 316, you might ask? Well, my sports comedy soundcast show I might do next time but for THIS week, as teased by Tyson at the end of the last episode, I have a Succotash Chat in store with none other than Blaine Capatch! Blaine is a standup comedian but oh, so much more. He's a writer, a sketch performer, a husband, a father, a son, and a druid. Well, he plays a druid on a soundcast we've featured here a few times over the years: Brian Posehn's Nerd Poker, a wonderfully funny and occasionally insane show where Brian, Blaine, and a clutch of other pals play Dungeons & Dragons. Before we get to the convo, I thought I'd set the stage a bit by playing a clip — since that's our main stock-in-trade here — from Nerd Poker and last week's action-packed episode. Beside Blaine and Brian, the rest of the cast includes Ken Daly, Sarah Guzzardo, Chris Tallman, dungeon Master Dan Telfer, and engineer Sam Kieffer. If you are unfamiliar with RPGs, that's Role Playing Games, and particularly Dungeons & Dragons, I can't help you. Well, I probably could – I've been playing since 1979 – but we just don't have the time. Blaine's and my acquaintanceship…acquantancy?… acquaintedness?… oes back a few decades to the San Francisco comedy scene which we talk about in our chat. All right. Without further ado, here is my chat with our special guest Blaine Capatch! Thanks to Blaine for jumping on the Zoomer with me for that. I would love to have the whole cast of Nerd Poker make their way in front of the Succotash microphones one of these days. Maybe I should Dungeon Master a game and invite them all to play! That could be cool and incredibly terrifying! One of the fun things their show features every week is, right after Dan Telfer thanks a bunch of their Patreon supporters, Blaine does a commercial from a variety of fake sponsors. Very much in the vein of our Henderson's Pants spots, but the advertisers are all different. Just to give you a sample, I went into their archives and slices out five different little ads he's read, and they sound a little like – no, actually, exactly like this… Blaine also makes funny, occasionally outrageous quips in real life, which you can can catch via his socials through his homogenous handles @BlaineCapatch on both Twitter and Instagram. In addition to NerdPoker.com, he's frequently a judge for Story Smash, the storytelling game show that's a spinoff of the Story Worthy soundcast from friend-of-the-show Christine Blackburn And, as he mentions look for him performing around LA in Lucha VaVOOM!, the burlesque and Mexican wrestling spectacular. Episode 316 is now officially over except for the outro and closing credits from Mr. Heywatt. Thanks again to our special guest this week, Blaine Capatch. Subscribe to us from any of your favorite places and Tyson Saner will be heading your way in this same feed next week with Epi317. My latest review in Vulture.com this Month in Comedy Podcasts, featuring Nikki Glaser guesting on Marc Maron's WTF is still up – there's a link to it up in the blog entry for this week's episode at our homesite SuccotashShow.com. And, other than that, if you happen to find a runaway dog wandering the streets and it seems friendly and you pick it up and read the ID tag and it reads, “Have you heard anything good lately?”, won't you please pass the Succotash? — Marc Hershon

Saluton, estas mi Tyson Saner welcoming you to Epi315 of Succotash, the soundcast that might just introduce you to your next favorite soundcast…as long as you understand that "soundcast" is what we here have been calling "podcasts" since waaaaay back in the day, shortly after Succotash launched some 11 years ago. There is also an excellent chance that we have already introduced you to your current favorite soundcast. Perhaps it was something that you heard in last week's Episode #314 in which I brought you clips from the soundcasts Black Aesthetic, Jeremiah Wonders, and Real Life Sci-Fi. Perhaps not, It's difficult to say. One thing that isn't difficult to say, by the way is thank you for listening which is essentially what I am doing right now in the guise of merely telling you about it.…or…is that the lazy explanation? I D K . This week, I've got another round of the "3-clip tango" for you in the form of content bites from the soundcasts known as The Winnebago Boys, Oxventure - A Dungeons & Dragons Podcast, and The Todd Glass Show. I've also got an ad from our longtime, 100% FAKE sponsor "Henderson's Pants" and their disturbingly anthropomorphic Pet Pants for you to enjoy as you indeed might…so look forward to that. Alright, I've got very little time to do this, so let's get to the clips… CLIPS The Winnebago Boys Evan Vest and Eian Webre are The Winnebago Boys and our snippet is from May of last year, an episode entitled "Many Gods". Evan apologizes - "We're back. My bad. Had a rough spell but we're back. Eian is now a permanent host." The clip itself features a very serious discussion of comedy and some of its' many aspects… Oxventure - A Dungeons & Dragons Podcast The Oxventurers Guild presents a DnD real play podcast! Join Johnny Chiodini, Jane Douglas, Andy Farrant, Mike Channell, Ellen Rose and Luke Westaway for chit-chat and chaotic good times. Our clip is from back around the corner - July 22, 2022 - in an episode called "Wedded Redemption Part 1" with special guest player Harry McEntire…and Happy Episode 100! This clip features part of the introductory portion of the campaign the group is about to embark upon. The Todd Glass Show Todd Glass has his very own show! He brings on his funny friends and they talk about whatever they want. And, of course, there are bits! Our clip hails from February 21, 2020, just between the COVID lockdown would sweep in a month later. Featuring guests Nick Swardson & Blake Wexler, although our clip only features Nick and Todd as Nick recalls doing live events with Adam Sandler and others…and an at-this-point-in-time very much living Norm Macdonald is fondly remembered. Hey, we all made it to the end together. That idea puts an image in my head of a group photo of a large number of people posing with a single trophy that they all must share.…(storybook voice) "and that was the last time that trophy was ever seen in one piece again…" Be sure to listen here, or wherever you listen, to Epi316 which will be hosted by show creator and executive producer Marc Hershon — who managed to secure an interview with Blaine Capatch of the world-famous soundcast Nerd Poker. I will be looking forward to it as much as you no doubt are at this very moment, assuming this is the first moment you have learned of this. If all goes well, I should be back with an episode for you a week after that featuring…I haven't the faintest clue yet as I am still writing this. Thank you for listening, Be Decent to Each Other, Avoid COVID-19 and DEFINITELY avoid spreading it to other people if you can at the very least manage that,…what you could spread, however, is this show by sharing your awareness of it with other people. It's what we mean when we drop to our knees with our hands clasped together and implore you to Please…Pass The Succotash! — Tyson Saner

Saluton, estas mi Tyson Saner. I am your host for this week here on Succotash Shut-In, the Soundcast Stimulas Package Epi240. In case you missed it, last week on Epi239, "Drollplayin' with Gamecasts", my co-host and your every-other-show host Marc Hershon harvested four clips having the common theme of roleplaying games from the soundcasts The Adventure Zone, AllD20, Critical Role, and Nerd Poker. It's a fun show and I urge you to check it out if you've a mind to. It can be found via Apple and Google Podcasts, Spotify, Stitcher, the Laughable app, iHeart Radio or even at our homesite, SuccotashShow.com . This week I've got clips from the soundcasts What Had Happened Was, Oprah's Master Class, and The Al Franken Podcast. I've also got a throwback Henderson's Pants ad from way back in Epi200 for their Bicentennial Pants to round out the whole experience. I haven't really got a whole lot more to say on the subject except thank you for listening so far, I hope you enjoy this episode's offerings. Let's get going! CLIPS What Had Happened Wa‪s‬ Open Mike Eagle sits down with the legendary Prince Paul to discuss Prince Paul's life, impact, and role in the world of Hip Hop. Our clip comes from the episode from July 8th, 2020, entitled "3ft High and Rising: The Origins of De La Sou‪l‬". Prince Paul tells the story of producing De La Soul's first album. Along the way we hear how the group was formed, the creative direction behind the album, and how they fit into the burgeoning hip-hop community around them. From the invention of the 'skit' to the first major sampling lawsuit, it's the story of an album that changed the business of rap music forever.  (On a personal note, I owned a copy of the album when it was pretty new and I was in high school. It's one of my all-time-favorite albums and I don't think very many if any of my peers at the time had ever listened to it or had even heard of it. I made sure a few of them would over time. I enjoy sharing music with people even more than listening to in or making it.) Oprah’s Master Class: The Podcas‪t‬ Hear the greatest life lessons of some of the most respected and renowned actors, musicians, public figures and athletes. Handpicked by Oprah Winfrey, these luminaries reveal their lives with candor and insight — in their own words. We're featuring a clip from December 19, 2018, part of the conversation with the late, great Cicely Tyso‪n‬, who passed away on January 28, 2021. (Yet another personal note: When I was fairly young I was introduced to The Autobiography of Miss Jane Pittman which also starred Cicely Tyson and is for some reason absent from the episode description. When I saw that movie I learned what racism was. I came to understand that the multi-racial neighborhood portrayed on Sesame Street was not impossible but also not necessarily the norm. I still appreciate the idea of it. Also, there SHOULD be friendly puppets and people breaking out in song in our everyday lives, in my humble opinion…) The Al Franken Podcas‪t‬ A five-time Emmy winning SNL comedy writer/producer, joins a four-time #1 NYT bestselling author, a three-time highest-rated national progressive radio host, a two-time Grammy winning artist, and a former US Senator. So, it gets a little crowded in the booth when Al Franken talks public policy and sometimes political comedy with notable guests. Our clip hails from September 29th of 2019, repeating a portion of Al's convo with Chris Rock "Because It's So Damn Great‪!", says the host. (ANOTHER personal note: First of all, I did not find out until recently that Mr. Franken HAD a podcast or I certainly would have been listening to it and would have clipped it already. Second, Saturday Night Live had been a huge influence on my life and sense of humor up until around the early-mid 1990's and then I pretty much stopped watching TV regularly. I'd say I missed a lot of great television programming but…did I really? …I certainly missed SOME…priorities change it seems. Anyway, Al Franken and Chris Rock are definitely 2 of my favorite personalities from that show which I am almost 2 years older than…and I really enjoyed the chance to hear them chat as friends.) That's the lineup of clips for this week. Remember, Marc will be back as host next week in Epi241 with who knows what? Well…YOU know what if you've been listening for a while. It could be clips, it could be a chat…It could be both, really. We'd both appreciate it if you liked what you heard here and decided to listen to more of us and more of other soundcasts and soundcasters we feature on this soundcast so that you can hear what else is out there and then you take it from there I guess… It's February 13th, 2021 as I record this and I gotta say…as far as upsetting days go, this one is right up there with January 6th, 2021.…But it's Valentines Day tomorrow, and…well, that's different for everyone so I don't really know what to say about it…It's dead in the middle of this perfect month that begins on a Monday, ends on a Sunday and is 28 days long. I feel like these are infrequent. So, in this most special of months why not take a moment to rate and review us on whichever service you listen to soundcasts on, assuming that that service also provides you the opportunity to do so? We'd really appreciate it. It's what we mean when we ask you to please pass the Succotash… — Tyson Saner

Hello and welcome to Succotash Shut-In, the Soundcast Stimulus Package, Episode 239. I’m your every-other-weekly host, Marc Hershon, and the chief purpose of this show – right after our prime directive: Entertaining YOU – is to support and promote comedy soundcasts AKA podcasts up, down, and across the internet. We started almost 10 years ago, in April of 2011, with the idea of spreading the word about soundcasts in general – which were having a little trouble gaining traction – and comedy soundcasts specifically because, well, we love comedy. And comedians. And the idea of being part of this exciting medium. Tyson Saner, who had stepped in for me as the regular host a few years ago, and I decided to start pumping out our show on a weekly basis for the first time since Succotash started. And we’ve been at that for nearly a solid year now. In fact, if you missed last week’s Epi238, entitled Clippin’s and Andy Dick, Tyson featured clips from a trio of soundcasts including the Jock Doc Podcast, Battle of the Bald, and Trashy Trashy. In addition, he had a quick chat with comedian/actor and professional gadabout Andy Dick. You can still hear the show via Apple and Google Podcasts, Spotify, Stitcher, the Laughable app, iHeart Radio or even at our homesite, SuccotashShow.com! This week it’s my turn back in the barrel and I thought it would be fun to go a bit “niche-y”. For many years — many MANY years, actually — I have been an inveterate player of Dungeons & Dragons, a popular version of what’s known more broadly as a tabletop role-playing game. Since the early 1970s, players have gotten together around a table, created various versions of fantasy fiction characters – like knights, wizards, and thieves – and played them in a variety of adventures all over seen by a kind of referee or Dungeon Master, if you will. The DM, as they’re known, basically runs the world in which the characters live and establishes the adventures these folks pursue in hopes of gaining treasure, defeating monsters, rescuing maidens, etcetera. During the past year, a lot of gaming groups – including mine - have had to adapt to the pandemic restrictions just like everyone else. And through online resources like Zoom, Skype, D & D Beyond, and Roll20.net, they have kept right on adventuring. There are a number of soundcasts dedicated to role playing – not just Dungeons and Dragon – and they have been able to muddle through. Some using programs and websites like I just mentioned and some have actually created socially distanced and safe studio space in order to keep playing in person. I wanted to give you a taste of what this somewhat different soundcast experience is like, so I went questing for a quartet of clips from The Adventure Zone, AllD20, Critical Role, and Nerd Poker. This episode is brought to you by longtime sponsor Henderson’s Pants and their new Scavenger Slax! Are you ready? Adventure…awaits! Nerd PokerOne of my favorite shows in the RPG genre is Nerd Poker, featuring a bunch of comedians and writers. The ringmaster is Brian Posehn, and the regular crew of campaigners include Blaine Capatch, Sarah Guzzardo, Ken Daly, Chris Tallman, and Dungeon Master Dan Telfer. We last featured these guys back in 2017 on Epi153 and, if I had my druthers, I would play with this group of lunatics. With so many jokers around the table (or the Zoom gallery), the adventures tend to move along fairly slowly because these guys are always breaking each other up. In this clip it take almost five minutes for Brian to get around to having his character – a monk named Donny – get around to swinging his sword on the enemy. AllD20The AllD20 soundcast is one I just started listening to and, while they’re a little bit more into their characters than the Nerd Poker folks, they still can’t help collapsing into cascades of laughter once in a while. It’s the nature of the game, as you know if you’re had a chance to play. They’re a D&D group in Las Vegas but they play in a homebrew world called Avlonia. I can’t find a listing for the cast but they introduce themselves and the characters they play at the top of every episode and they are having a ball. In this clip, the characters have been on trial and judgement is just now being passed on them… Critical RoleI am just scratching the surface of the role playing genre of soundcasts with this episode. Hard to do it all justice with just four clips and there are tons more games than just D&D. But there’s no way I can talk about this type of show without spinning a few minutes of Critical Role, a show that has a HUGE following and rightfully so. The entire crew, from the DM through all the players are, as they say at the top of each episode, “a bunch of nerdy-ass voice actors”, and they get to strut their stuff every week for between 3 and 4…sometimes even 5 hours of game play. Matthew Mercer is highly regarded for his skills as a Dungeon Master, because of his storytelling and worldbuilding skills as well as his characterizations. You see, one of the job of the DM is to portray all of the various characters that the player’s characters meet during the course of their adventures. And the cast is wonderful: Marisha Ray, Laura Bailey, Liam O’Brien, Sam Riegel, Travis Willingham, Ashley Johnson, and Taliesin Jaffe round out the current campaign. I picked a clip from a recent episode where the adventurers who go by the name The Mighty Nein, are in the midst of fighting an ancient white dragon… The Adventure ZoneThe last show I’m clipping in this genre for this episode has ventured away from strictly playing Dungeons and Dragons but it’s manned by soundcast favorites the McElroys. Their list of shows is crazy, including My Brother, My Brother, and Me, Sawbones, Bunker buddies, Schmanners, The Besties, Can I Pet Your Dog? and a TON more. The shows are hosted by one or more of the McElroy brothers, their wives and even their dad, Clint, who is a key part of The Adventure Zone, along with brothers Travis, Justin, and Griffin, who serves as the DM for the games. I haven’t been following regularly so I’m not sure how they’ve ended up where they are today but it seems to be some kind of school and in this clip, the crew is bent on wreaking havoc in the name of justice…or something. Thanks you for letting me let my nerd flag fly high today. I’m going to give a shout out to the Demonbane, which is the name of the fellowship the players I DM every week call themselves. Remember that you can find links to shows and most of the people in them that we’ve mentioned here on Succotash Shut-In at the blog for this episode on our homesite, http://SuccotashShow.com. Tyson will be here next week with an array of soundcast clips for you in Episode 240. And I’ll see you the week after that. In the meantime, remember to socially distance, wear a mask, wash your hands and, if anyone asks if you’ve heard any good soundcasts lately, please remember to pass the Succotash! — Marc Hershon

We are Succotash Shut-In, the Soundcast Stimulus Package, which means we’re here to help keep the entire soundcast industry solvent by featuring clips from a variety of comedy soundcasts from around the world. Why? Because even in the face of the literally hundreds of thousands of shows out there in Soundcastland, the numbers have been falling off since this pandemic started – less people commuting to work, working out in gyms, and killing time at their desks with earbuds in to shut out the cacophony of the office. Oh, and sometimes we also do interviews. Who’s “we”? It’s not the royal We, as in me talking about myself in grandiose terms. I AM half of the “we”, namely Marc Hershon, and I host Succotash Shut-In on an every-other-weekly basis. I share these duties with the other half of “we”, Tyson Saner, who just hosted Episode 230, in which he featured snippets from soundcasts Lie Hard With A Vengeance, Kasting Cuzzin, and Review Revue. You can still grab that installment at out homesite, SuccotashShow.com, or from a designated soundcast listening post such as Apple or Google Podcasts, Stitcher, Spotify, iHeart Radio, the Laughable app, the list goes on and on. Let’s get down to the business of show, shall we? I’ve been kind of dragging my feet on this one because I’m not sure how it’s going to go over. I’ve got clips from FIVE shows this episode but instead of regular clips – you know, a three to five minute chunk of a show so you can get the flavor of it – I’ve scraped together a bunch of bloopers. Times when things didn’t go quite as planned OR times that we were never intended to hear but they decided to drop the tracks on us anyway. We’ve got bloopers from Conan O’Brien Needs A Friend, A Paranormal Chicks, Roll Out!, Who Back When, and Voyage to the Stars. This whole mess is brought to you by our longtime sponsors Hendersons Pants, makers of the new Santa Pants, and Trumpoetry.com. CLIPS Conan O’Brien Needs A Friend First up is a candid slice from one of my favorite soundcasts that I like to listen to pretty much week in and week out, Conan O’Brien Needs A Friend. Great guests, fun chats with Conan, his trust assistant, Sona Movsesian, and the show’s producer Matt Gourley, who is also a past guest and, dare I say, a friend of the show. Maybe, I don’t know if he’d take my call but probably, right? A recent gust was comedian Colin Quinn, was really, really funny. But it seems that Colin is a might tech-challenged and had a hell of a time getting set up to do the interview via Zoom, which most of the show have been resorting to because of the pandemic. So Conan let the audio of the attempts to get things set up roll at the end of the show, and I’ve got some of that for you right here… A Paranormal Chicks I back into this next soundcast, A Paranormal Chicks, by finding a blooper teaser reel of the show floating around on the web. Really didn’t know too much about it before but the two hosts, Donna and Kerri, sound like a lot of fun. The show describes itself as a “true crime and paranormal comedy podcast” – or soundcasts, as we prefer – and that’s their formula: one paranormal story and one true crime story along the way in every episode. But into every soundcast a little havoc must fall, as it did for our plucky hosts the day a cockroach showed up in their studio… Roll Out! If you dig RPGs – AKA role playing games – like Dungeons & Dragons, Pathfinder, Star Wars, Warhammer, etc., etc., there are a bunch of fun gamecasts out there. Some with people playing games, some with people talking about game play. I’m a particular fan of Brian Posehn’s Nerd Poker and the Critical Role soundcasts but that’s because D&D is my jam. Roll Out! Is another such soundcast where they play an ongoing campaign. Their game is Masks: A New Generation, and it’s a superhero-based world, I believe. Not really that familiar with that particular game. But they’re got a collected set of bloopers out there so I grabbed a sequence of several in a row – completely out of context – but it makes for some pretty entertaining listening. Here are some of the cast of Roll Out! Who Back When If you’re a Doctor Who fan, you may already be clued into Who Back When, a long-running soundcast about all things Who that’s based in England. While they take their Doctors seriously, the current crew on the show  - Marie, Drew, Jim and Leon – clearly have fun since they release a blooper collection for every season of their show. The cluster of boo-boos I have for you are from their fourth season reel and, like so many bloopers, these don’t have a whole lot of context unless you are familiar with the episodes they were cut out of…and, even then, you may not recognize them. Voyage to the Stars The last blooptastic soundcast I have for you is from a very funny sci-fi narrative show called Voyage to the Stars. There’s a whole host of funny-ass people onboard including Colton Dunn, Felicia Day, Kirsten Vangsness, Steve Berg, and friend-of-Succotash Janet Varney. If I remember correctly, there’s a lot of improvisation that happens in this show – in fact, it may be ALL improvised – and when that happens your cast is often likely to paint themselves into a narrative corner with the more details they cook up and then trying to remember everything. So no surprise they have a pile of bloopers saved up – here are just a few… That does it for my great experiment – an episode full of bloopers. A Succotash of succotash, if you will. If you enjoyed it then this IS Succotash Shut-In, the Soundcast Stimulus Package. If you don’t enjoy it, then this is Fresh Air with Terry Gross. That’s going to did it for me until the week after next. My partner-in-clips Tyson Saner is here next week for Epi232. I have to ask Tyson when his next episode of The Anti Social Show is going to drop. That’s another soundcast that Tyson co-hosts, along with Hunter Block, and those fellows had me on as a guest recently and I’m waiting to listen. Final bits of business here. If you are a comedy soundcaster and want to hear your clip on this show, you can either wait until Tyson or I find your show OR you can submit your own damn clip directly to us! You can directly upload a 3-5 minute MP3 clip to us at http://hightail.com/u/Succotash. Include some detail about your show and we’ll pop it into an upcoming episode. Please do us the great favor of rating and reviewing Succotash Shut-In on Apple Podcasts. And follow us on the socials – it’s @SuccotashShow on Insta and Twitter, and we have the Succotash Show Page on Facebook. Other than that, our friend Bill Heywatt has information on how you can reach Tyson and me coming up in the close so I will just implore you, as I often do, if anyone asks if you’re heard any good soundcasts lately, won’t you please pass the Succotash? — Marc Hershon
