We dove quickly into the Water Efficiency Rating Sore or WERS system with Mike Collignon Executive Director & Co Founder of the Green Builder Coalition.  So quickly in fact that we did not have time to talk much about the other cool things the coalition is doing, so definitely check out their website in the show notes to find out how they are a uniting voice for sustainable home building especially for the custom builder community In short, WERS is a performance-based water efficiency program for both new and existing residential properties. This approach to water efficiency preserves design freedom and product choice flexibility. Third-party analysis and data collection is utilized to generate both a score and predict water usage for single-family and multifamily properties. Especially here in the west and specifically in the southwest, more and more water utilities and jurisdictions are looking for ways to better manage water in the build environment so that builders can continue to meet our housing demand.

In Wirglichkeid is Dialeggd viel mehr. Was ich euch heud verzähl wolld, is die Leidnsgeschichde vo derre Woch. Unner Haus hadn neun Besidzer. A ganz badender Kerl, irchnd so a Großneffe vo derre åldn Dame, wo des Haus ghörd had. Bisses üwerschriem had. Der Dübb is ned blos badennd, sonnern a echd nedd und ambizionierd. Selbsd Handwerrger. Inschdalladör. Had gleich gedscheggd, dass die Bude nachm Griech ned sonderlich gud resdaurierd worrn is und seidher a nix drann gmachd worrn is. Obachd Schbordsfreund! Könnder also nachlees oder auffrisch. Also sin mir Feuer und Flamme, dass der neue Bragmaddiger, dem wo des Haus edz ghör dud ned blos die Balkonns, die wo a a Broblemm hamm du ins Auche fass dud, sonnern zuallererschd a die marodn Leidungen. Subber... awer nadürlich had so a Sach a mehr wie ennen Pferdefuß. Episode Summary Own your voice. Be still in the silence and listen. Turn regret into action. If they don't introduce you well, re-introduce yourself! And, be sure to tell yourself the truth! And these are just a few of the nuggets Dr. Allana Da Graca shared in this episode. It's all about taking the reins and understanding that what you have done before has actually prepared you for what is next if you are willing to see the possibilities! About the Guest: Dr. Allana Da Graca, the persistence guru, helps women and entrepreneurs tell their digital stories. Obsessed with building authentic engagement, Dr. Allana helps people share their genius without apology. This has a major influence on their perception and ability to reach new milestones. She helps remove tech overwhelm and makes complicated processes become tangible steps that make goal attainment possible. Having helped more than 20 thousand individuals through her 23-year tenure as a Professor and Communication expert, she has been featured in FOX News, NBC, BNN, WERS, WMUA, Dorchester Reporter, Boston Globe, The TEDx stage, WBOC, Shoutout Atlanta, Atlanta Voyage, EPOCH Times, and the UMASS Daily Collegian. She has been awarded the Robert C. Ford Fellowship, Martin Luther King Civic Leader Award, Laureate International Appreciation and many more. For 24 years she has inspired students, leaders, fortune 500 executives, and entrepreneurs to rise above average! Her goal is to help leaders and entrepreneurs pivot online in the midst of a pandemic. She has helped her clients leverage their earning power and leave self-limiting beliefs. She has trained with notable thought leaders in the professional and business communication industries. Her dynamic persona and ability to bring out the best in others, make her highly sought out! She is the author of 4 books – among them is Tomorrow Can't Wait – An Inspirational Book offering Persistence for a Lifetime   About the Host: Laurel Rutledge's human-centered approach, empathy, and understanding of individual needs make her a top-notch personal advisor and women's leadership coach. Her care and compassion have made her an indispensable guide for countless women navigating the next phases of their lives and careers. Add to that her intimate knowledge of the HR landscape, and it becomes clear why her HR clients have had such transformative experiences. Just as Rutledge has helped countless others get out of their rut and off of the ledge, so too can she help you. After receiving her MBA, Laurel moved from accounting and consulting to human resources, driven by a desire to do good in a business environment. It quickly became apparent that the switch had been a good choice — she flourished professionally and became happier, satisfied with the difference she could make through her work. After a 30-year career, she left the corporate world, but her passion for HR and helping others has only grown. Now, she works one-on-one with clients, leveraging her experience in leadership and personal development to help them get the most of out their lives and careers. From her beginnings as a consultant at Deloitte to her time as VP of HR at Covestro, Laurel has seen more sides of the business world than most. She's achieved technical mastery of HR, with a deep knowledge of the rules and regulations that must be followed. She's also a people person, perceptive and outgoing, with a sixth sense for helping others to see the difference between what they want and what they need. The culmination of this is in her personal philosophy: “lead with your heart, act with your head.” Find out more at: https://laurelrutledge.com Thank you for listening! As a music business professional, Brad Paul has actively promoted a wide variety of music genres through his work as a radio promoter, radio host and producer, concert promoter, video producer and director. I first met Brad nearly 10 years ago at my first Americana Music Association conference in Nashville after I had just gotten on the air on KKFI with the Tasty Brew Music Radio Show. He has been at every AMA and Folk Alliance International conference I have attended since that time…advocating on behalf of his clients and very often serving on multiple radio-centric panels. Brad graduated from Emerson College in Boston, Massachusetts with a BS degree in communication. While at Emerson he co-created the popular morning show The Coffeehouse on Emerson’s student run radio station WERS, where he also served as Program Director. He was responsible for bringing Live At Passim to WERS and produced and hosted the program for three years from the venerable music venue in Harvard Square. Brad hosted and produced “The Folk Show” on WEVO (New Hampshire Public Radio) from 1988 to 1991 and Folk On WGBH (Boston's NPR affiliate) from 2004 to 2009. He is a founding member of the Americana Music Association and has served on its Board of Directors for thirteen years, with three years served as President of the Board As VP of Promotion for Concord Music Group/New Rounder/Village Roadshow and SVP of National Promotion for Rounder Records he promoted artists as diverse as Alison Krauss, Robert Plant, Steve Martin, Paul Simon, Gregg Allman, Willie Nelson, John Mellencamp, The Chieftains, Alejandro Escovedo, Raul Malo and many more to a variety of radio formats including AAA, Americana, country, folk, and syndicated programs from National Public Radio and Public Radio International. Since its inception in 2013, Brad Paul Media, a full service radio promotion and artist development consulting company whose goal is to help artists increase their brand awareness through radio exposure and develop their career by tapping into his network of music industry professionals, has scheduled over 1000 radio in-studio appearances and garnered tens of thousands of radio spins for over one hundred clients. He has sent me some amazing talent over the years that I have had the privilege of introducing rather exclusively to a Kansas City radio and KKFI streaming audience. When he reached out to gauge my interest in interviewing his 2020 talent slate in New Orleans at Folk Alliance, I responded sure I would love to but only if he agreed to sit down with me for a chat also. Many thanks to Brad for arranging my subsequent interview with Chris Masterson and Eleanor Whitmore aka The Mastersons and anchor of Steve Earle’s touring band, The Dukes. Enjoy my conversation with a bonafide music industry insider, Brad Paul.

Welcome to another edition of Po Politickin. In this episode, we politick with Boston rapper EK. Growing up in Nigeria, EK realized he was always an outgoing child, able to articulate himself through his words. At the age of 10, EK moved to the United States. Living in an unfamiliar land, he connected with the wrong crowds and constantly struggled to defend his heritage. EK was arrested at 14, and the shocks of possible imprisonment made him realize that he needed to change his ways and find another outlet for his emotions. EK took out a pen and paper and began to write. Currently, EK is collaborating with Ryan Sparker, the co-writer of Eli Reed's album "Nights Like This". EK regularly appears at music venues throughout the Boston area including Church, the Strand Theater, and Bentley College. EK's music has been broadcast on radio stations including 88.9 WERS in Boston, and he has appeared on BNN TV's "Shine" program. EK says, "I want my music to tell my life's story and speak of my challenges adapting to a world that knows how to stop dreaming. I want to be an example to young people that dreams can come true!"

Back from the dead AND with a new mic! Happy New Year everyone. With the holidays behind us and hellish late December/Early January schedules in our rearview, we're able to get back into the swing of regular podcasting again. I'm going to go ahead and christen this as Season 2 of the Geek Dad's Podcast. This week we're playing our version of Nerd Poker with the new Star Wars RPG: Edge of the Empire! Brand new from Fantasy Flight games, and as I'm a sucker for anything Star Wars, I picked up the beginner box and started harassing Ben and Jeff to play. Word of warning: We don't discuss anything outside of the game, this is a fairly dense gameplay-only recording. We spend about an hour on character and setting building and kick off the adventure in hour two. Yes, it's two hours long. Consider yourself warned. If you're into Star Wars, tabletop games or rpg's then this is the podcast for you! Intro/Outro should be fairly obvious for the dorkage, so enjoy. As always we're up for suggestions or recommendations on show topics and/or music samples so send them over! Thanks again everyone, have a great week!
