Her involvement with C-TAC began during her final year at Andover Newton Theological School and her field education with the Rev. Dr. Donnie Anderson at the Rhode Island State Council of Churches. She is a member of the Interfaith & Diversity Workgroup of C-TAC. Shannan is a Member in Discernment for Ordination in the United Church of Christ with the Old Colony Association in Massachusetts.

    In this presentation Dr. Sheik Hassan briefly presents the concept of worship in Islam, and the fact that we will be tested in many different ways. He also shares a personal event in his life and relates it to statements made by the Prophet Muhammad (Hadith) that sickness expiates sin. Dr. Sheik Hassan is a retired pulmonologist who served on the faculty at Howard University College of Medicine for more than 40 years. During his tenure, Dr. Hassan led several administrative roles at Howard; most recently, he was the Vice Dean of the medical school at the time of his retirement. He is also former president of the Islamic Medical Association of North America. Today, Dr. Hassan is an active member of several Muslim communities in Maryland and is also a member of C-TAC's Interfaith Workgroup. We're honored to have him share his words with us on this episode.
