Jamming on the Job is a multi-generational, music-inspired podcast for kids ages 4-8 and their parents and caregivers, starring Christina Sanabria and Andrés Salguero, the Latin Grammy Award-winning kids’ music duo known as 123 Andrés, and Grammy-nominated musician Pierce Freelon as BoomBox. Join them as they tour the country and perform songs about the world of work. Each place they go, they meet a grownup with a different kind of job who helps them along their way. As they learn about the new and inspiring career of the day and the skills needed for that job, they compose an original song about it. In addition to exposing kids to a wide variety of career paths, each episode will highlight foundational skills relevant to each job, such as empathy, social problem-solving, and responsibility, as well as flexible thinking, impulse control, and persistence. Produced by PBS NC for PBS KIDS. The contents of this podcast were developed under a grant from the Department of Education. The Jamming on the Job podcast is an exciting collaboration between Grammy-nominated family music artists 1,2,3 Andres and Pierce Freelon. As a fan of both artists, I was thrilled to hear that they were teaming up for this project, and I must say, the end result has exceeded my expectations. This podcast combines their unique professions, social-emotional learning (SEL) concepts, humor, and music to create a fun and enlightening experience for children. The fusion of these three talents in a podcast format is fantastic, but I can't help but imagine how amazing it would be to see the humor and physical comedy of 1,2,3 Andres paired with Pierce Freelon's skills as an animated boom box. PBS should definitely not miss out on this opportunity!
One of the best aspects of the Jamming on the Job podcast is its ability to explore multiple spaces that showcase diverse perspectives and experiences. Through their music and conversations, 1,2,3 Andres and Pierce Freelon guide children into understanding different professions and their significance in our society. It's a great way for kids to learn about various jobs while also promoting inclusivity and empathy.
Another standout feature of this podcast is its jam-packed content. The episodes are filled with information that is worth multiple listens. Each episode covers a specific job or concept related to work and career exploration. The hosts manage to seamlessly blend educational content with catchy tunes that keep children engaged throughout.
As much as I love the Jamming on the Job podcast, there are a few areas where it could be improved. One aspect that could be enhanced is the visual element. While listening to the audio alone provides an enjoyable experience, I can't help but feel that seeing the comedic interactions between 1,2,3 Andres and Pierce Freelon would take it to another level. Having a visual component like an animated series or webisodes could enhance the overall experience and make it even more appealing to children.
In conclusion, the Jamming on the Job podcast is an outstanding collaboration between 1,2,3 Andres and Pierce Freelon. It combines their talents in a way that not only entertains but also educates children about different professions and promotes SEL concepts. While the podcast excels in its content and delivery, adding a visual component would take it to new heights. I highly recommend this podcast to children and families who are looking for an engaging and informative listening experience.
