ABOUT PAJAMMIN'HarperCollins Children's Books announced the publication of PAJAMMIN' by musician Ziggy Marley and acclaimed illustrator Letícia Moreno. Inspired by Bob Marley's iconic song "Jamming," this story about a family's fun-filled pajama party will inspire young readers and their caregivers to make bedtime a ritual worth celebrating.Carrying on his father's legacy of fostering joy and connection, Marley transforms iconic lines from "Jamming" into a bouncy, bedtime read-aloud. The result is a rollicking roadmap for screen-free family time, complete with Moreno's exuberant illustrations inspired by Marley's own multicultural family."This book is about togetherness and happiness," said Marley. "Children and adults will be able to tell 'cause the love that we put into it is vibrating from the pages. I am so happy to share this with everyone.""Ziggy brings the same joy and warmth to his books that he brings to his music, and working with him on this project has been a delight. Inspired by his own family's rituals and his father's iconic and beloved lyrics, he has created a celebration of creative play and family togetherness that's perfectly captured in Letícia Moreno's buoyant art," said Lynne Polvino, Senior Editor at Clarion Books.Marley is the eldest son of reggae icons Bob Marley and Rita Marley, and is a celebrated, eight-time Grammy Award-winning artist. He continues his father's mission of fighting for equality and social justice through his music; humanitarian work with his nonprofit, the U.R.G.E. Foundation; and long history of creating art for children and families. His album Family Time was #1 on the Reggae Charts, #2 on the Kids' Charts, and won a Grammy for Best Children's Album, as well as an Emmy for Outstanding Original Song for the video from "I Love You Too." Marley performed the Arthur theme song, "Believe in Yourself," which played at the top of every episode over its 25-year run, and he has appeared on children's television shows like Sesame Street, Fraggle Rock, and Chopped Junior. Furthering his dedication to children's literacy, PAJAMMIN' will join Marley's previous picture books, including Little John Crow, I Love You Too, My Dog Romeo, and Music Is in Everything, on shelves this summer.ABOUT ZIGGY MARLEYZiggy Marley is an eight-time Grammy winner, Emmy winner, musician, producer, humanitarian, and author with a long history of projects for kids and families, including the picture books I Love You Too, My Dog Romeo, and Music Is in Everything. I'm so excited to welcome Jake Brownstein to Roadcase this week!! Jake plays shredding guitar for the band Eggy, which has been lighting up stages, and turning on fans with their unique brand of what I like to call “collaborative rock.” Jake is a super thoughtful and humble artist, who seeks to find joy in the moment, and he talks to me about how being vulnerable and seeking to be true to oneself is the key to living authentically — in both the arts and in one's personal life. Together, we explore the origins of the band, and go deep into self-exploration and what it means to really make a difference in people's lives with music. This is a special interview with a unique artist, and Jake really brings it all for this amazing conversation.Show notes:For tour dates and more info on The Wood Brothers, click hereYou can find the book "Songwriters on Songwriting" here on Amazon-------------------------------Episode Chapters:00:00 Episode Intro with Host Josh Rosenberg04:20 Introduction to Eggy and Their Journey07:19 The Importance of Long-Lasting Relationships in Music10:18 Growing Up Together: The Band's Origins13:21 The Evolution of Eggy: From High School to Professional16:29 The Role of Covers in Eggy's Music19:31 The Business of Music: Balancing Passion and Professionalism22:09 Collaborative Spirit: The Dynamics of Playing Together25:23 Performing with Friends: The Connection with Dogs28:20 Playing Jerry Garcia's Guitar: A Special Experience39:24 Finding Your Voice Through Music41:37 The Evolution of Waiting Game44:09 Embracing Vulnerability in Performance46:37 The Pressure of Legacy and Life's Work53:10 Connecting with Fans and Community01:00:10 Honoring a Friend Through Music01:05:37 The Art of Jamming and Live Performance01:14:40 The Journey Ahead for Eggy01:14:34 Episode Outro and Wrap-up with Host Josh Rosenberg--------------------------------------------Follow Roadcase on Instagram here: @RoadcasepodFor more information on Roadcase:https://linktr.ee/roadcasepod and https://www.roadcasepod.comOr contact Roadcase by email: info@roadcasepod.comRoadcase theme music: "Eugene (Instrumental)" by Waltzer

Guitar legend Alex Lifeson joins the podcast to talk about his new band Envy of None and their new album Stygian Waves, as well as his love of playing guitar, getting together to jam with Geddy Lee, and what the future might hold for them. Stygian Wavz is out now.
My long-time friend, Peter Scott Ruben, is the best guitar player I know, having personally watched him jam with some of the great rock and blues musicians of the seventies (Joe Perry in his pre-Aerosmith days and Kim Simmonds of The Savoy Brown Blues Band are two who immediately come to mind -- I read that Simmonds died two years ago in England and the band had to break up after an amazing fifty-five year run). Since then, Peter has fronted his own bands, and has also carried on his father's legacy as leader of the premier special events orchestra/band in Philadelphia, through which he met "the great one," Frank Sinatra, at a White House gig the orchestra was playing during the Reagan administration back in the 1980's. He also donned a wig a few years ago and played as Eric Clapton in a Cream tribute concert (and I seem to recall he even played a set as Jimmi Hendrix). In addition to his amazing playing, he knows way more about music than anyone in my social orbit so, now that he has embarked on an Act 3 career performing a Frank Sinatra and Bobby Darin one-man tribute show (having bought performing rights to the original Nelson Riddle and other Sinatra/Darin charts), I thought it would be fun to pick his brain here on Pizza Quest regarding why he thinks Sinatra is the greatest performer of all time as well as to see if together we could create a top ten list as well as a Mt. Rushmore top four list of the greatest of the greats. It was so much fun recording this episode -- as you will see and hear -- that I plan on inviting him back to do a similar retrospective on the greatest guitar players and also another on the best bands and performing groups of our time. Peter and I used to stay up all night during our college days talking about stuff like this, so I know he's game for it, as you will hear in this conversation in which we explore not only Sinatra's greatness but also dive deeply into the why and how of what made him the GOAT (and why Bobby Darin was the prince in waiting until he died way too young). So, as we like to say, it's more about the quest than it is about the pizza, and this time around we jump into Peter Ruben's quest for what distinguishes the good from the great when it comes to musical artists. The topic may have changed, but the game remains the same -- and the quest never ends....
Join Cheryl Lee - That Radio Chick on STILL ROCKIN' IT for news, reviews, music and interviews with some of our favourite Australian musicians.Kevin Borich's musical odyssey began with an olive oil can and a rusty trumpet on the back steps of his childhood home in New Zealand. Sixty years and over twenty albums later, the 78-year-old guitar virtuoso shows no signs of slowing down. "The R word is nowhere near," he laughs, describing a recent performance where fans went "nuts" down front, singing along to every lyric. This legendary Australian musician is preparing for a historic one-night-only performance in Adelaide alongside fellow rock icons John Swan and Dave Gleeson. The collaboration stems from Borich and Swan's time together in the Party Boys and their recent work on Borich's acclaimed "Duets" album, which also featured collaborations with Joe Walsh, Ian Moss, Tim Rogers, and other music luminaries.Throughout our conversation, Kevin shares extraordinary stories from a career that's intersected with rock royalty. Carlos Santana calling him onstage before 60,000 fans. Richie Blackmore of Deep Purple showing up at his gig after hearing him play. Jamming with Bo Diddley, an early influence who shaped his rhythmic sensibilities. These moments paint the picture of an artist whose talent has earned the respect of the very musicians who inspired him. From his beginnings with the La-De-Da's to performing at landmark Australian events like the 1972 Sunbury Festival and New Year's Eve celebrations at the Sydney Opera House, Kevin has consistently delivered authentic, passionate rock music. His recent successes—including his "Legacy" album topping AMRAP charts for three months—demonstrate an artist still exploring his creative potential. What comes through most clearly is his unwavering love for performance and connection with audiences. Even as he acknowledges challenges like the rising cost of living affecting live music attendance, his enthusiasm for the upcoming Adelaide show is palpable. He's "getting oiled up" for rehearsals, ready to deliver another unforgettable night of Australian rock history in the making.Don't miss this rare opportunity to witness Kevin Borich, John Swan, and Dave Gleeson sharing the stage for one extraordinary performance that promises to showcase the enduring power of Australian rock music at its finest. What has Kevin Borich been up to lately? What if everything you thought was true… was a lie? In this episode of The Awake & Winning Podcast, we're bringing you a special repost from Project Vitality, hosted by Australian entrepreneur and wellness advocate Nicholas Fairbairn. Kaylor joins Nicholas for an uncensored deep dive into the last few years of global chaos—government overreach, media manipulation, and the war on masculinity. They discuss how Australia and Canada both became testing grounds for extreme authoritarian measures and why so many people blindly complied. Kaylor shares his personal wake-up moment, the cost of standing against the narrative, and why personal responsibility is the only way forward. For the 33rd installment of the Fanzine Podcast, we welcome Chris Coleman, former editor of at least two important ‘zines from the 1980s post-punk UK Midlands: Stringent Measures and What A Nice Way To Turn Seventeen. The first of these zines straddled a vibrant local indie scene that included the likes of Eyeless In Gaza, In Embrace, Attrition, and the Glass Records label (about which Chris put together a special edition) along with Chris's evident excitement for early U2. What A Nice Way To Turn Seventeen, while maintaining the fanzine format, declared itself musically with a first issue featuring interviews with The Waterboys, The Alarm - and Johnny Thunders, to whom it later dedicated a special issue (as it did Marc Bolan). WANWTTS also put out physical vinyl – EP's and albums alike - that included the likes of The Jazz Butcher, Jasmine Minks, The Membranes, Mike Scott and Nikki Sudden, and which therefore continued to place the zine at the heart of the mid-80s indie music scene. To this day, Chris continues to release records of lost archived recordings on his Seventeen label.Chris spent a Friday night indoors chatting with podcast host Tony Fletcher about his fanzine experiences back in the day. Other fanzines mentioned in this episode include Bucketful Of Brains, Alternative Sounds and Adventures In Reality, and the conversation also diverges into the likes of R.E.M. and The Smiths. We get to hear how Chris's parents once collated and stapled and distributed zines for him while he was on holiday, and we find out which of the aforementioned musicians once commented to him, “You have great veins.” (Hint: it should be obvious.)Visit https://tonyfletcher.substack.com/p/what-a-nice-way-to-turn-seventeen for images of some vintage What A Nice Way To Turn Seventeen, to find similar posts and pages dedicated to earlier Fanzine Podcasts, and for Tony's twice-weekly writings. Thanks to Noel Fletcher for the theme music, and Greg Morton at Omnibus Press for the logo template. The Best of Jamming!: Selections and Stories from the Fanzine That Grew Up 1977-86 is available from here. 2.24.24 - Day 11/13 of the White Wind Wavespell - Galactic Moon 18 The Spectral day can drown out any other Natural Time rhythms. We are in the midst of exploring the positive/negative patriarchal imagery of White Wind; we are in the emotional uproar of the third Western week of the Galactic Moon. But all our grappling with these larger cycles, our best attempts to endure them, can be thrown into disarray by a Spectral day in the midst. And add that it's a Spectral day in the arena of our human species, with its free will and selfish wants. This day can feel both containing and contaminating. Jamming ourselves into the human form. adopting the human mindset, can feel like a limitation. In the midst of disruptive, challenging powers in all areas of our astrology passage, it is perfectly appropriate to fall apart. We'll see what tomorrow brings. At minimum, greater calm and the possibility of resolution.
