https://www.hunterkidzbooks.com Ryan Hunter is a Columbus, OH native. He resides in Reynoldsburg, OH with his wife, Elizabeth, and their three sons. During the day, he and his wife co-own and operate a gym known as S.P.Y.K. Fitness. In the evenings, Ryan enjoys spending time with his family, watching sports, and taking their family dog, Layla, for long walks. Ryan's passion for writing children's books to raise awareness for Congenital Heart Disease was ignited after going through a personal family trial of his own. His youngest son, Roman, was born with a congenital heart defect known as Transposition of the Great Arteries (TGA). Roman's diagnosis wasn't discovered until a couple hours after his birth. His wife had a 'normal' and healthy pregnancy. The news swept them off their feet and rocked their world. With the support of loved ones, and most importantly, their faith, Ryan and Elizabeth have taken one of their greatest tragedies as parents and turned it into their testimony as they are helping so many other families cope with the many ups and downs the life of living with a CHD child can bring as they share their story. 'Are You Listening' was based off the true story of Ryan's son, Roman. Although the story is very personal to him, Ryan wrote the book in a way that other families could make it personal to their own CHD journey. He left intentional fill-in-the-blanks so that families could insert their own children's names to make the story personalized. His mission of writing this book was to create a resource for families to relate to in a time where they may feel alone and helpless as they watch their child, sibling, or grandchild live with CHD. Ryan and his publishing team, Hunter Kidz Books, has been collaborating with Nationwide Children's Hospital of Columbus and many local churches in Central Ohio to bring his book to storefront to spread awareness for a disease that is personal and heartfelt to him. https://www.bygdproductions.com Derrick Lamar Kendrick, a native of Columbus, Ohio, holds a Bachelor of Music Education degree from Central State University in Wilberforce, Ohio. His musical career began in the seventh grade and expanded throughout high school and college. Over the course of twenty five+ years, Derrick has performed all over the U.S. as a soloist and in several bands, ensembles, choruses, and theatrical performances. He also served as the exclusive sound engineer for D'Light Lounge, LLC. More of his past accomplishments include the production of several CD projects for several recording artists and serving as music director of the theatrical performance of "Soul Matters" by Yolonda Tonette Sanders. Derrick currently serves as Minister of Music at Family Fellowship Church of Christ in Gahanna, Ohio, where Benjamin Hall serves as the Senior Pastor. Mr. Kendrick is a member of The American Society of Composers, Authors, and Publishers (ASCAP). He has been active in the music arena for many years as a drummer/percussionist; but it wasn’t until the age of 22 that Derrick discovered his love and talent for song writing. Since then, he has composed/arranged numerous songs in various genres including music for the Central State University Marching Band and the Grammy-nominated Central State University Chorus. He has also collaborated with, and written/arranged several songs for many local recording artists around Columbus, Ohio, including The Prophetic Poetess and his singing group, Divine Appointment. He is also responsible for the soundtrack to "Soul Matters" by Yolonda Sanders and the "Grandma and Me" series of children's books by Janette Kirksey. More recently, he has just completed his second solo CD project (sixth personal project) entitled “Kingdom Writer”. Derrick’s writing style combines highly syncopated rhythms with intricate harmonies and a laid back groove. His thought provoking, lyrical content is usually spiritually grounded and/or inspired by his life’s experiences. Following the completion of his undergraduate studies, Byg D Productions (now Byg D Productions LLC) was established by Derrick in 2000. Since that time, it has evolved into an umbrella for a number of ministries and services, including: "Divine Appointment" and Byg D Studios. The music that falls under the umbrella of Byg D Productions always relays a positive message. Consequently, Derrick does not limit himself to one particular age group or listening audience. It is his desire that all can listen to his music or, at the least, have an appreciation for it.
