Between 2013 and 2019, as Art Director of New Markets and Brand Development for Condé Nast International, based in London and Paris, she oversaw all the company's launches – 14 magazines, including seven editions of Vogue. She still consults as Design Director at Large for Vogue Hong Kong. In 2002 she founded independent photography magazine DayFour, publishing it continuously until 2012. She is Co-Author and Art Director of The Fashion Yearbook, and creative director of books for South African media consultancy Legacy Creates. Outside the publishing world, she has been Art Director of contemporary art auction house Phillips de Pury in London and New York, and Consultant Art Director of Russian luxury retail group Mercury/TSUM. (Fiona would like to point out she is not Russian: she is proudly Irish and studied Visual Communication and History of Art and Design at NCAD Dublin.) She currently divides her time between design consultancy for commercial clients, and lecturing at Oxford Brookes University, the Condé Nast College of Fashion and Design, London, Nottingham Trent University, Ravensbourne University, and Leeds University. Deborah Douglas has written a memoir about her experience as a victim turned campaigner in one of the biggest scandals in British medical history. Breaking The Silence with Dr Gregory Williams Turning Trauma into Power with Lurata Lyon, Co-Author of a new book titled The Strength of Resilience In this episode of Breaking the Silence, Dr. Gregory Williams interviews Lurata Lyon, author of Unbroken: Surviving Human Trafficking. The conversation explores Lurata's harrowing survival of kidnapping and organ harvesting gangs, her journey of self-healing through writing and fitness, and the profound realization that resilience is not just about bouncing back, but about choosing love over bitterness. Detailed Summary The Philosophy of Brokenness and Resilience Dr. Williams opens with a medical analogy regarding broken bones, noting that during the healing process, a callous forms that temporarily makes the broken site stronger than it was before. Reality of Human Trafficking Lurata details her specific traumatic experiences, including being kidnapped by an organ harvesting gang in Kosovo and later held in solitary confinement for six months by soldiers in Serbia. She describes human trafficking as a "pandemic" and the biggest business in the world, surpassing the drug trade. The conversation touches on modern recruitment tactics, such as bribing parents in war zones (like Ukraine) or luring people with false promises of work, only to strip them of their passports and force them into begging, prostitution, or organ harvesting. Regaining Trust and Taming the "Monster" Recovery for Lurata involved relearning how to trust, starting with her uncle and eventually moving into the fitness industry. She became a successful personal trainer in London by focusing on making clients "feel good" rather than just losing weight. A significant part of her mental recovery was "taming the monster"—the internal rage and defensive aggression she developed to survive. Through mentorship and self-forgiveness, she learned to control her reactions to daily stressors, using breathwork to prevent small problems from triggering survival-mode panic. Future Endeavors Lurata is currently co-authoring a new book titled The Strength of Resilience with an athlete named Fatima, expected to launch in mid-2024. She is also expanding her work into the digital space with online courses on public speaking and mental fitness, and has established a mental health retreat in Marbella, Spain, focusing on hiking, breathwork, and healing. Trauma does not have to define one's future. As Lurata Lyon demonstrates, even the darkest experiences—such as human trafficking and captivity—can be transformed into a source of immense power and purpose. By choosing forgiveness, controlling one's internal narrative, and breaking the silence, victims can transition from surviving to thriving.

Nothing compares to hearing from the one who wrote the book.Jesus, as the eternal Son of God, is not just a teacher of Truth, but is its Co-Author, together with the Father and the Holy Spirit. From the beginning of time, God's Truth—His Eternal Word—has been gradually revealed through creation, the covenants, the Law, and the prophets. Yet only the Word Made Flesh could reveal Himself fully.When Jesus entered the synagogue in Capernaum, His teaching astonished the people. Those who were open to faith recognized something far greater than human wisdom; they encountered the very voice of God.The people's astonishment reveals the transformative nature of the Word of God. Jesus did not merely interpret the Scriptures for the people; He fulfilled them and identified Himself with them. As the Author of all Truth, His words—and His very Person—carried the power to liberate and transform. This power was immediately demonstrated when He cast out the unclean spirit in the verses that follow, revealing that His word does not simply teach—it acts, healing and restoring those in bondage.The question of Truth remains as relevant today as it was when Jesus walked the earth. Allow that Truth to affect you, change you, and set you on the path that leads to eternal glory. Eternal Word of God, You are the Author and Revealer of all Truth. Speak to me with Your divine authority, and illuminate the many errors that afflict my heart and the world around me. With the power of Your Word, cut through the darkness, dispel confusion, and shine Your radiant light of Truth upon my path. Description [Original release date July 2025]: With the passage of the Republicans' “Big Beautiful Bill” and NATO allies pledging to more than double their spending on defense as a portion of all economic output, military spending around the world is soaring, while spending on meeting social needs and the climate crisis is on the chopping block. Governments often justify spending public money this way by saying it will create good jobs, but what if the workers themselves had a say? Fifty years ago, employees at Lucas Aerospace, a huge military contractor in the United Kingdom came up with an alternative plan. Their approach, known as the Lucas Plan, used the workers' same expertise, but directed production away from bombs, towards goods that actually help society.
