The Lord set up a divine appointment for Philip the evangelist, who shared the good news of Jesus with an Ethiopian eunuch on a desert road in Acts 8:26-40. God has divine appointments for all who follow after him, and for all who are searching for Him. Pastor David preaches a message titled, "Divine Appointments".

Divine Appointments February 1, 2026 Elwyn Johnston Acts 8:26 - 40 Verse of the Week: “Do not withhold good from those to whom it is due, when it is in your power to do it.” Proverbs 3:27 1. Positioned by the Spirit “Now an angel of the Lord spoke to Philip, saying, ‘Get up and go south to the road that descends from Jerusalem to Gaza.' (This is a desert road.)” Acts 8:26 “We can make our plans, but the Lord directs our steps.” Proverbs 16:9 “By faith Abraham, when called to go to a place…obeyed and went, even though he did not know where he was going.” Hebrews 11:8 2. Psalm 37:23 reminds us: “The steps of a godly person are directed by the Lord; He delights in every detail of their lives.” God orchestrates our paths, intersections, blessings—and even the delays we face. Just like Jesus' purposeful encounter with the Samaritan woman at the well in John 4, what seems random or inconvenient is frequently God at work, bringing transformation and opportunity. Be encouraged—God orders our steps with and on purpose. When paths cross unexpectedly or things seem to interrupt your plans, trust that what God has for you is truly for you. We are unworthy of his love, but he loves us anyways. He sees through the polished image we project to the truth of who we are, but the truth of his love overcomes the truth of our sinfulness. 

After God used Philip to save many Samaritans, he sent him to evangelize one who had come from the ends of the Earth.

Also, on Reverbnation is music from Skip Sparks, one of his characters and Ted's alter ego.   In my book review, I stated A Farmboy, A Tomboy, Jesus Freaks, and Divine Appointments is a Christian historical fiction filled with music, laughter, hard times, and saving grace. I thoroughly enjoyed Ted's characters, all of whom had problems, issues, disappointments, and poor decisions - and yet, they also had kindness, love, determination, and a need for something more than the world seemed ready to offer.   This is a meandering story where you get to meet the characters, remeet them at earlier and later points in their lives, and finally see how they all come together, each touching the other.
