The season didn’t end the way we all thought it would when it began. But the one thing you can say for sure is the players didn’t quit on Dan Quinn. Before the game was played on Sunday Arthur Blank announced that Dan Quinn and Thomas Dimitroff would return in 2020. Then came the game on Sunday and it really looked like the team was going to lay an egg. Down by 6 in the fourth quarter they battled back to tie the game in the last seconds.Then Jameis Winston started the 30/30 club by throwing the game sealing pick six in over time to get Atlanta to 7-9 on the season. Now we are on to next season

Sunday saw yet more records for Atlanta Falcon players. Julio Jones becomes the fastest player reach 12,000 yards a full 17 games faster than Jerry Rice. Matt Ryan threw for over 4,000 yards for the 9th season in a row, which is the longest active streak in the NFL. All this came with a win against the Jacksonville Jaguars ( 24-12). The Atlanta Falcons went on the road all the way to the west coast and did the improbable. They beat the fighting Kyle Shanahan’s...the 49ers. The game was a close one, that came down to a crazy ending capping off Matt Ryan’s 29th 4th quarter comeback. Now the question is was this enough to save DQ’s job? How about Thomas Dimtiroff? Sundays game had it ups and downs much like the past half decade for the Atlanta Falcons. Rody White got inducted into the Falcons ring of honor which was much deserved. Matt Ryan became the 10th NFL QB to pass for over 50,0000 yards. The O-line got a much needed boost with the return of Chris Linstrom, Matt Gono also got a chance to play and both showed well. Another home game and another embarrassing loss by the home team. The sorry excuse of an O-line gave up 9 sacks for a total of 38 sacks and 99 QB hits so far this season. The Atlanta Falcons went on the road for back to back weeks and for back to back week the defense did not give up a touchdown. This is the defense that had us as falcon fans excited when the season started, to bad it took half the season to get here. Either way it was fun to watch our guys fly around the field making huge 4th down stops also getting 5 sacks and 4 int. Lost in the shadow of the defense effort, Matt Ryan moved up to the top in total passing yards all time, and Calvin Ridley had a monster game.

The Defense kept Drew Brees and company out of the end zone all day just giving up 3 filed goals. It was and inspiring game that saw DQ give up playing calling all across the board. It wasn’t all rainbows and sunshine however, during the contest it looks like we may have lost Hooper and Freeman for so time due to injury. With the heart of the division coming up lets see if this was a one off or has the team finally turned a corner

After not making any Major changes to the coaching staff, it’s clear that the Atlanta Falcons are clearly looking towards 2020 for the next chance to compete. So here at Pound 4 Pound Atl we decided to do the same and take a look at the 2020 roster. We take a stab at who the next gm and head coach are going to have to work with. Half way through the season the Atlanta Falcons find themselves at an abysmal 1-7. Matt Ryan missed his first game since 2009 and Matt Shaub lead the team with 460 yards passing yards but only 17 points. The team goes into the bye searching for answers on all sides of the ball. It doesn’t look like Dan Quinn will be let go until the end of the season so all we as fans can hope for now is a high draft pick.

After yet another embarrassing loss this time at the hands of last years Superbowl loser. Dan Quinn led defense gave up 37 points with no sacks. Dirk Koetter led offense put up 10 points and also saw Matt Ryan get sacked 5 times while leaving with and injury. Tuesday brought winds of change with Sanu getting traded to New England for a 2nd rounder are there other trades on the horizon?

Were back again talking about another loss, this time to a rookie HC/QB combo. In what was arguably the most winnable game on the Falcons schedule our Birds fell one point short of a come back. The Defense showed some fight in the second half but the Team in Black and White (REFS) made sure it was for naught.

Falcons hit rock bottom in embarrassing fashion against the Texans on Sunday. The defense had its worst showing in the DQ era giving 47 point to Deshaun Watson while not recording a turnover or a sack for the second week.

After a very ugly first quarter of the season the Atlanta Falcons find themselves at a crossroads. Does the team have it in them to turn it around or has Dan Quinn lost the locker room.
