Dave Dameshek opens the show by answering the question: which QB draft class is the best in the history of people. Then Carmen Vitali and JD Bunkis join the show to talk about all the latest moves of the 2026 NFL trade. They get past the headlines and into why these teams make the decisions they do. They look at how GMs construct teams and why roster construction is a science, but an inexact science. Dave then uses a fact about Patriot fans (how they lament more than any other football fans and will whine about Drake Maye's injury for the rest of time) as a way chat about the gold medal hockey game. Would Canada have won if they put Sidney Crosby on the ice? The answer touches on the racial makeup of Canada and why French Canadians aren't pulling their weight in the goal. Yes, we go there. And then we wind our way back to NFL trades. It's Football America time! (NOTE: Recorded on Thursday at 1pm ET.) AUDIO Football America! is available wherever you listen to podcasts. Ever wondered what happens when gelato meets a Ferris wheel? Sam and Jeff are back after their Seattle adventure, and honestly, this trip had everything. They nearly missed their 5:30 flight thanks to an airport power outage and an overly chatty 3 a.m. Uber driver who couldn't stop talking about San Francisco rent prices. (Trust me, not the conversation you want at that hour.)In Seattle, they hit Pike Place Market for Beecher's mac and cheese and Greek gelato with exotic flavors, toured Lumen Field home of the Seattle Seahawks, and explored the Pop Culture Museum's impressive collections. The Chihuly Gardens featured stunning glass sculptures, and the Space Needle shot them up in just thirty-eight seconds. Their ferry ride to Bainbridge Island proved delightful and relaxing with beautiful views. But let's talk about that Ferris wheel incident—one speaker's indulgent food choices created an increasingly uncomfortable situation over multiple rotations that required an urgent exit. They also caught a Disney Villains brunch at a queer bar, enjoyed espresso martinis throughout the day, and dealt with a birthday party host who refused to share cake. The chaos, the food, the mishaps—it's all here. Listen to find out which moment almost derailed the entire trip.
Free agency nears for the Seattle Seahawks after the NFL Combine. In NFC West news, the Rams acquiring All-Pro cornerback Trent McDuffie from the Chiefs means they're going to continue to go all in. The Seahawks roster squeeze will be felt on special teams after reports that contract talks with return ace Rashid Shaheed aren't close. It's very likely he hits the market and we'll have to wonder if his special-teams value and his complementary receiver role can be filled by Tory Horton, through free agency or the draft. The discussion also covers Seattle's decision to allow Jake Bobo to test free agency, and the expectation that Drake Thomas merits a RFA tender. Finally, we close with thoughts on Kyler Murray exiting Arizona and speculation about Malik Willis as a potential Cardinals QB target. Support the show Get in the Flock! Plus, are the Chiefs quietly setting up a mini rebuild with those extra picks and new cap space? Sherman discusses Trey Hendrickson hitting free agency, which contenders like the San Francisco 49ers, Seattle Seahawks, Philadelphia Eagles, or Green Bay Packers might pursue him, and how a bidding war could price out some teams. - We have another round of Check Yes or No as we preview NFL free agency and the possibilities for the Seahawks to improve the defense and shore up the O-Line. Would we want the Seahawks to make a splash in free agency or are we good with just re-signing as many of our free agent guys as we can and getting new deals done with JSN and Spoon? :30- PERRY HILL (Mariners infield coach) How are things going with Brendan Donovan so far and how is the transition going for him from 2nd to 3rd? What does Perry say to those who question JP's defense and think the shortstop is on the decline? How is Cole Young looking so far this spring? Josh Naylor is more than just a flashy dresser and Perry's relationship with the M's first baseman goes back a long time. Which youngster has impressed him the most so far? :45- At this stage, is it s foregone conclusion that Ken Walker is gone? See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.
Headlines and 12th man news with GREGG BELL (Tacoma News Tribune) - Ken Walker was not franchise tagged yesterday, but can the Seahawks work out a deal with the running back before free agency starts on Monday? - What moves could we expect the Seahawks to make in free agency this year? - If the Seahawks lose Rasheed Shahid, would they be looking to find another cheaper option even though they already have Tory Horton? :30- After a three-week break, two bad losses in a row, then two good wins in a row, we are still figuring this Kraken team out. But one thing that keeps getting mentioned is that the Kraken need some scoring. With the NHL trade deadline looming in two days, do the Kraken need to make a blockbuster trade? Yes, we would be willing to trade Shane Wright, but only for the right price. :45- It's time to get Reckless at breakfast We have already talked about the Seahawks possibly trading for Maxx Crosby, but now it's time to talk about it from the Raiders perspective. The raiders have an opportunity to bring in a haul for the veteran defensive star… And what about the possibility that the Raiders don't actually like Fernando Mendoza at #1? See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.
Turns out, franchise tagging is a lot like real life Tag, no one really wants to be it. The Seahawks did not use the franchise tag on Kenneth Walker and to be honest, it would have been more surprising if they had used it. The reports out now are that the Seahawks will not sign Walker ahead of free agency, so we wait and see if Walker will return or land with another team. :30- We got our first look at Team USA yesterday and yeah, they look pretty decent! The Dominican team was very fired up to be playing an exhibition game, we can't wait to see how they are when the real games begin. :45- Finally, we are done having to preview the Seahawks facing Kyler Murray and his legs twice a season. A leadership team with top-tier talent, strong strategy, and capital behind it still misses targets. Engagement scores drift. Execution stalls. On paper, nothing is wrong. In reality, the environment is misaligned. That gap between capability and consistent performance is where culture either compounds results or quietly erodes them.Aaron Walsh, Head of Culture, Leadership and Mental Performance at the Rajasthan Royals and former Mental Skills coach with the Chiefs, has spent his career working inside high performance systems where results are unforgiving and scrutiny is constant. Why is culture still treated as a “soft” variable despite overwhelming evidence that it shapes behaviour, decision-making and performance under pressure?1:45 – Defining culture and what happens when reality doesn't match the wall. 9:05 – Aaron's work with the Chiefs and Mike Cron on building a successful culture. 15:45 – Connecting teams to the community and the last 10% performance gains from culture. 19:55 – Michael Gervais, the Seattle Seahawks, and bringing team culture to corporates like IAG. 27:55 – Immediate actions to improve culture and fostering psychological safety for innovation. 33:10 – Leadership, culture, and why your energy impacts corporate performance. 36:50 – Andrew's morning routine and the quality vs quantity time debate. 41:05 – Measuring culture beyond annual check-ins and its impact. 47:15 – Modelling desired behaviours and Aaron's 5-year vision. 54:35 – When systems fail, talent isn't enough and why some teams may not need a mental skills coach. 59:55 – Spotting cultural clues on day one and lessons from sports to corporate mental skills.Listen to the previous episode with Aaron here: https://performanceintelligence.transistor.fm/episodes/143-aaron-walsh Use Code "PQPODCAST10" to get 10% off your Lumo Coffee order:https://lumocoffee.com/ Interested in sharing your story?
