Send us a text if you want to be on the Podcast & explain why!The fastest way to fail the NASM CPT exam is to study like you're trying to become a walking textbook. We're personal trainers, and most of us learn by doing. So we break down how to pass the NASM CPT without drowning in chapters you'll never use, and why a focused plan can realistically get you across the finish line in less than 30 days.We map out the handful of areas that keep showing up: the human movement system, behavior change coaching, the assessment process (yes, overhead squat assessment concepts like compensations and overactive vs underactive muscles), the OPT model and its phases, acute variables, energy systems, basic nutrition, and the key terms you must be able to recognize on sight. The point isn't to “know everything” it's to know what the exam rewards and to build a study routine you can actually stick to.Then we get honest about the mental side. NASM-style practice questions can read like they were written to mess with you, and that confusion often triggers automatic negative thoughts and wasted study time. We share how to “put the NASM hat on,” focus on the words that matter, and stop letting tricky phrasing shake your confidence.Passing the certification is step one. Coaching real clients is where your career is made, so we also talk internships, supervised reps, learning from physical therapists and experienced coaches, and why relying on random internet advice can leave you stuck when a real human shows up with pain, limitations, or complex needs. If this helped, subscribe, share it with a future trainer, and leave a review. What part of the NASM CPT is stressing you out most right now?Want to become a SUCCESSFUL personal trainer? How to Ace Your First Personal Training Interview (And Actually Get Hired)

Send us a text if you want to be on the Podcast & explain why! Most new trainers think the first job interview is a quiz on anatomy. It usually isn't. What hiring managers really watch is whether you show up early, communicate like a pro, and can connect with everyday members who want results, not gym jargon. We walk through how to prepare for a personal trainer interview when you are still finishing a NASM certification, and how to make a strong first impression without pretending you know everything. We also zoom out and talk about gym tiers. High-volume chain gyms often hire fast, pay less, and may not test much beyond basic competence and reliability. Higher-end clubs like Lifetime or Equinox tend to run a more formal hiring process, sometimes with phone screens, practical coaching tests, and role play that reveals how you think under pressure. We share the research steps that help you stand out: learn the gym's mission statement and core values, understand how their personal training department works, and tailor your story to the members you will actually train. The biggest shift is turning the interview into a two-way filter. We give you high-value questions to ask managers about mentorship, continuing education, onboarding, getting clients, and support with programming and sales. We also cover presence and confidence: a tight elevator pitch, strong posture, fewer filler words, and simple ways to handle sales conversations without sounding pushy. If you want to get hired at a gym, grow your confidence fast, and build a long-term career in personal training, listen through and take notes. Subscribe, share this with a trainer friend, and leave a review with the one interview question you're going to use next.Want to become a SUCCESSFUL personal trainer? Avison Young's Justin Cazana on Knoxville's office boom, nuclear-driven growth, why tertiary markets quietly survived the office crisis, and how to build a dominant local practice. The Crexi Podcast connects commercial real estate (CRE) professionals with industry insights built for smart decision-making. In each episode, we explore the latest trends, innovations and opportunities shaping commercial real estate, because we believe knowledge should move at the speed of ambition and every conversation should empower professionals to act with greater clarity and confidence. Justin Cazana is a third-generation real estate professional and principal at Avison Young in Knoxville. Before commercial real estate, he spent nearly a decade in sports broadcasting — calling minor league baseball, SEC football, and Fox Sports Net Olympic coverage — before the family business pulled him home. In this episode, Justin joins host Adam Siegel on why Knoxville's office market never really broke, what Oak Ridge and nuclear growth are doing to demand, and why investing in people is the unlock most brokers miss. He holds both the SIOR and CCIM designations and has deep expertise in the Knoxville market, where he has built a practice rooted in local market knowledge and client relationships. Justin's career path into commercial real estate was far from traditional. Before joining the industry, he worked in television and radio sports broadcasting, including minor league baseball, Fox Sports Net and Comcast Sports. After transitioning into commercial real estate over two decades ago, Justin played a key role in opening Cushman & Wakefield's Knoxville office and later helped lead the migration to Avison Young in 2015. Today, Justin works across most commercial asset classes but with a focus on the Knoxville market and has built a reputation as the go-to expert for understanding one of the country's fastest-growing tertiary markets. Why the fastest-growing property managers are talking about wealth, not rent

Most property managers focus on rent collection and compliance, but the agencies growing the fastest are helping investors increase returns, build wealth, and uncover value most landlords don't even realise they're missing. On The Property Management Excellence (PMX) podcast, Alex Whitlock sits down with Bradley Beer, CEO of BMT Tax Depreciation, to explore one of the most overlooked opportunities in property management and why helping investors grow wealth could be the industry's biggest competitive advantage. Beer argues that property managers and investors share the same goal: building wealth. Yet many agencies still struggle to demonstrate value beyond managing tenancies. The duo highlights how simple conversations around tax depreciation, rental strategy, maintenance planning, and portfolio performance can strengthen client relationships. Beer reveals that many property investors are still leaving thousands of dollars on the table every year by failing to claim depreciation, despite the average first-year deduction from BMT schedules sitting around $12,000. The pair also discuss the growing pressure on fees and why agencies that position themselves as wealth partners rather than rent collectors are far more likely to defend their pricing, improve retention, and grow their rent rolls.

PTL1 Mike from Toronto Canada, talks about how Show Up Fitness helps trainers level up their business and technical skills. How to improve your people skills? That's what we discussed today.Your schedule isn't empty because you “need a better certification.” It's empty because you're avoiding the one skill that makes personal training a real career: connecting with members on the gym floor. Chris sits down with Mike, a Toronto-based PT leader, to get painfully practical about how great trainers get hired, get noticed, and get clients without acting like a pushy salesperson. We dig into what Mike looks for in interviews, including a hands-on practical where trainers must show progressions and regressions and prove they can coach movement patterns safely. From there, we zoom out to the business side of personal training: why floor engagement has faded over the last decade, why app-booked consults often no-show, and how a quick “wow factor” interaction can make someone 10x more likely to show up and buy. Mike shares easy, low-pressure ways to start conversations, from offering a towel to giving a simple form cue in the machine area, plus how to exit gracefully when someone isn't interested. If you're more introverted, this conversation still hits hard. Mike explains how to build confidence through reps, start with easy wins, and adopt a mindset of service: you're not “selling,” you're helping people avoid injury, train with purpose, and finally see progress. We also get into consult questions that uncover the real why behind a goal, plus how to “paint the picture” with long-term programming and realistic timelines so clients stay for months, not weeks. If you want more clients and better retention, press play, take notes, and try one floor interaction today. Subscribe, share this with a trainer friend, and leave a review with the one tip you're going to use first.Want to become a SUCCESSFUL personal trainer? In today's Cloud Wars Minute, I explore why OpenAI could soon rank among the world's biggest enterprise software companies. Highlights 00:03 — Early this year, OpenAI joined the Cloud Wars Top 10 in the number 10 spot. Because of the impact OpenAI has had, moving from the ChatGPT explosion three and a half years ago up to now, and their move very aggressively into the enterprise, they are a player of a major type with huge potential, both in what they're doing themselves and the partnerships they have. 01:07 — The biggest one turns out to be that right now the enterprise part of the OpenAI business is very soon going to be the biggest, and I think it is currently the fastest-growing part of OpenAI. Denise Dresser [Chief Revenue Officer, OpenAI] said that enterprise revenue at OpenAI is now 40% of total revenue, and by the end of this year it'll be 50%. 02:05 — OpenAI Enterprise has two million enterprise customers right now. A year ago, she said it was one million. They're not all giant companies and they're not all paying OpenAI a lot of money, but what they're doing is seeding the way for future opportunities and growth. OpenAI hinted that they're on about a $25 billion run rate. 03:04 — If OpenAI grows 60% this year, making that $25 billion run rate $40 billion, then 50% of that going to enterprise would be a $20 billion business at a fairly conservative guess. It could be closer to $25 billion, making them a bigger, faster-growing enterprise AI software player than Workday, Palantir, and ServiceNow. 04:33 — Customers see that there's a lot of potential in the technology that OpenAI has, but they also want to know if OpenAI has the capability to support it. Dresser said that by the end of this year, OpenAI plans to have 300,000 trained consultants for the OpenAI Enterprise business. Competition is great. It's going to make everybody better. Claude Code alone became generally available in May 2025 and reached $2.5 billion in annualized revenue in February 2026, with that figure more than doubling since the beginning of 2026. Meaghan Choi, Head of Design for Claude Code and Cowork at Anthropic, was in that room. It's an odd thing to say this but Congrats for Punishing Yourself Punishing yourself is an opportunity to be the parent to yourself. And you're actually thinking that it's a good thing to punish yourself. It is not a good thing to punish yourself. It's a good thing to reward yourself for things. And just because you got punished as a kid for something doesn't mean that you get punished. And you should punish yourself as an adult. Give yourself some grace. Today's word is grace. That grace of opportunity, that grace of the event, that grace of the mistake, that grace of the moment, that grace of breathing, that grace of self-forgiveness, that grace of the opportunity to reset and reframe this entire thing for the rest of your life. This is why you're here. Congratulations, you made it here. And now you get to recalibrate who you are, how you are, how you behave, how you talk to yourself. If you talk to yourself in a negative way, that's a self-punishment. That is going to self perpetuate and continue to cycle and spiral into much more negativity in your physical body, negativity in your physical body because you're punishing yourself. It is a self-harm thing negativity in your environment because you are attracting that, bringing that to you, negativity in your communications. People are gonna feel it and they're gonna get defensive in, in all places in your life. And so if you have any comments on this, make sure you comment and share and like, and, and you know, subscribe. And really that form of grace is, is more soft and it's non berating. You get to have that grace of making a mistake and getting to the other side of it because you made a mistake. You're going to get to the other side of it. The punishment is just trying to keep you in the problem. And as I always say, most people meditate on the problem. Punishment and a self-punishment is meditating on the problem. And so my encouragement is meditate on the solution, on the grace. If you were to sit and meditate for one or two minutes on grace, you would be so amazed at how much different you feel. Send us a text if you want to be on the Podcast & explain why!Your clients say they are eating “1,200 calories,” but the photos tell a very different story. We walk through a clean, practical way to do macro calculations that you can explain to real humans, then zoom out to the bigger issue: macro targets only work when they are built on honest intake data and consistent habits. We start with a simple baseline calorie estimate (bodyweight times 10) and show exactly how to convert calories into grams of carbohydrates, protein, and fat using the rules that never change: carbs are 4 calories per gram, protein is 4 calories per gram, and fat is 9 calories per gram. Using average examples, we reveal how quickly protein can end up shockingly low, why high-carb days can quietly dominate someone's intake, and how a 3,500-calorie “normal day” turns into massive numbers on paper. Along the way, we call out the common coaching trap of giving generic advice like “eat a gram of protein per pound” without adjusting the rest of the diet. From there, we lay out a three-phase nutrition coaching framework: build awareness with food logs and meal photos, drive behavior change with sleep and stress inputs, and move toward longevity with more individualized support, often alongside a registered dietitian and lab work insights. If you are a personal trainer who wants better client results and a more professional nutrition coaching service, this is the roadmap. Send us a text if you want to be on the Podcast & explain why!How to Become A Successful Personal Trainer vol. 2 interviews coaches and trainers who have lead a successful personal training career. HINT HINT, they don't praise textbook certifications, they focus on hands on learning and building teams. If you want to make real money as a personal trainer, “getting certified” is not the finish line, it's the starting line. We're pulling back the curtain on what we see from the one percenters in the industry: the coaches clearing $125,000+ a year while everyone else wonders why their calendar is empty and their confidence is shaky. We walk through three traits that keep showing up among high performers. First, they chase hands-on learning, not just books and bundles. They do seminars, internships, mentorships, and supervised reps in the trenches, because that's where you learn to handle knee pain, shoulder issues, and real-world client chaos without freezing. Second, they build a serious network, especially physical therapists (DPTs) and registered dietitians (RDs) they can actually talk to, not just follow online. That support raises your competence, your results, and your ability to charge premium rates with integrity. Then we tackle the taboo topic: looking the part. Not extremes, not unrealistic influencer standards, but a clear signal that you practice what you preach and you fit your market. We also share practical ways to “level up” fast, from picking the right mentors to running a SWOT analysis on your business and physique. If you're done with the quick-fix mindset and ready to build a sustainable personal training career, hit play, then subscribe, share this with a trainer friend, and leave a review with your biggest takeaway.Want to become a SUCCESSFUL personal trainer? A newly qualified doctor Charlotte Buttercase, has said she was subjected to repeated sexual harassment and intimidation while studying medicine at the University of Manchester. 32 other female students have now come forward to report similar abuse. Charlotte tells Nuala McGovern why she has waived her right to anonymity and written an open letter to the university to request a formal review of sexism within the School of Medical Sciences. More than 1000 women have added their signatures. Sprinter Hannah Brier holds the Welsh 100m record, and last week became the fastest Welsh woman of all time. She broke her country's long-standing 200m record running it at 22.79 seconds at the Stratford Speed Grand Prix in London. But that time was just a few days after the Team Wales deadline for selection for this summer's Commonwealth Games in Glasgow. She explains to Nuala how missing out on the chance to compete at the games pushed her to prove herself all over again. Is Marilyn Monroe still a name that needs no introduction? Fans were marking her 100th birthday yesterday so we ask why her legacy still endures almost 64 years after her death and what she means to women today. Nuala is joined by Ellen E Jones, a film critic and the presenter of a new radio documentary on BBC Sounds called 'Bombshell: Five Faces of Marilyn Monroe', and Sarah Churchwell, professor of American Literature at the University of London and the author of 'The Many Lives of Marilyn Monroe'.Tenderness and Rage, and the juxtaposition of these contrasting emotions is at the heart of a new exhibition at the Wellcome Collection. It explores the history of HIV from the AIDS epidemic of the 80s and 90s to today. We see stories of protest and of tender care through photography, film and objects belonging to those who faced these illnesses when so little was known about how to treat or survive them. Angelina Namiba was one of them. She was diagnosed with HIV in 1993, and at first, thought it was a death sentence. Presenter: Nuala McGovern Producer: Helen Fitzhenry

668: (Solo) The One Marketing Concept Behind the Fastest Growing DTC Brands Right Now

Most founders think their product is different. But if your marketing sounds like everyone else's — better ingredients, better results, better formula — your customer hears nothing. Because when everything sounds the same, nothing stands out. Here's the problem: customers don't just buy outcomes. They buy belief that your way of getting there is different. And without a unique mechanism, you're leaving that belief on the table — and handing the sale to whoever communicates their difference more clearly. In this episode, I break down the concept of unique mechanisms — what they are, why the fastest growing DTC brands all have one, and how to find and articulate yours even if you think you don't have one yet. Here's what you'll take away: What a unique mechanism actually is — and why naming the process, not just the outcome, is what makes a product feel proprietary How IMAÉ's "90-plus clinically dosed ingredients across nine organ systems" turns a supplement into a category of one Why Instant Hydration's Sel Gris sourcing and Pillar Performance's triple magnesium are textbook examples of mechanism done right How WHOOP repositioned from fitness tracker to "recovery-based performance system" — and why that framing is the whole game The four questions to ask yourself right now to uncover the unique mechanism you already have but aren't communicating Why most founders already have something differentiated — they just can't articulate it clearly enough to make customers believe it If your ads aren't converting the way they should, or your product feels like it's competing on price instead of value, this episode will show you exactly what's missing — and how to fix it before your next campaign. From holding the 12-year-old world record in the mile and two-mile to setting multiple national age-group records in the 1500m and 3000m, Quenton's talent has been evident from the start. But this spring, he reached another level. At the Washington 4A State Championships, Lanese ran 4:04.59 for 1600 meters, breaking his own National Freshman Record and becoming the fastest freshman in U.S. history. Just two days later, he returned to the track and clocked 8:47.19 in the 3200 meters, lowering another National Freshman Record and cementing his place among the country's elite distance runners.Yet beyond the records and rankings, what stands out most is his ability to embrace discomfort. He believes he can push deeper and hurt longer than almost anyone else in a race, a mindset that continues to separate him when the pace gets fast and the stakes get high.In this conversation, we dive into his record-breaking performances at state, the goals that still drive him forward, his training philosophy, racing mindset, and what it feels like to carry expectations as the fastest freshman in the country.Tap into the Quenton Lanese Special. If you enjoy the podcast, please consider following The Sunday Shakeout on Spotify and Apple Podcasts and leaving a five-star review. Welcome to LIFTS, where we explore the future of fitness, wellness, and human performance. In this episode, hosts Matthew Januszek and Mohammed Iqbal are joined by Dr. Brent Anderson, founder of Polestar Pilates, physical therapist, educator, and one of the most respected voices in the global Pilates industry. Pilates has become one of the fastest-growing categories in fitness. Participation continues to rise, studios are expanding globally, and demand shows little sign of slowing down. Yet despite its popularity, Pilates remains one of the most misunderstood modalities in the industry. This conversation explores why Pilates has experienced such remarkable growth, whether the category is approaching saturation, and what operators, investors, and fitness professionals often misunderstand about the methodology behind its success. Drawing on more than four decades of experience in rehabilitation, movement science, and Pilates education, Dr. Anderson explains how Pilates evolved from a niche practice used primarily by dancers and physical therapists into a global wellness phenomenon. He also shares why he believes the category still has significant room to grow. The discussion dives into the growing role of technology, connected equipment, and performance data within Pilates, and examines how innovation can help operators improve outcomes without losing sight of the principles that made Pilates effective in the first place. The episode also explores one of the most surprising trends in fitness today: younger consumers are increasingly embracing Pilates as part of a broader shift toward wellness, longevity, recovery, and preventative health. As wellness becomes a daily lifestyle rather than an occasional activity, Pilates is finding relevance across new demographics and markets around the world. For fitness operators, studio owners, educators, investors, and wellness professionals, this episode offers a fascinating look at why Pilates continues to grow, what makes it so effective, and where the category may be heading next. In this episode, we cover: Why Pilates continues to grow globally What most people misunderstand about Pilates How technology is changing the Pilates experience Whether the industry is approaching saturation Why Pilates may become a pillar of wellness and healthcare

Send us a text if you want to be on the Podcast & explain why!If you want to become a nutrition coach and make over 30k EXTRA dollars as a personal trainer, SUF-NC teaches you the fundamentals of nutritional science, teaches you how to scale a new stream of revenue and you get to work alongside of a registered dietitian. showupfitness.comTwo tacos should be an easy entry in a food tracker, right? We start with a simple photo test that exposes a brutal truth about weight loss: most of us are not “bad at dieting,” we are bad at estimating what we eat, especially when food is made for us. That one skill gap can turn an intended deficit into a hidden surplus, and it is why clients can feel stuck, inflamed, and defeated while their log still looks “pretty good.” From there, we take a hard turn into the internet's favorite fuel: fear. We break down the viral strawberry scare, the language of “toxins” and “detox,” and why confident influencers with shaky credentials can out-share careful scientific explanations. We are not here to dunk on people; we are here to show how to evaluate claims, follow incentives, and keep nutrition education grounded in dose, context, and real-world behavior, especially for families trying to shop on a budget. Then we rebuild the fundamentals of nutrition coaching: the six essential nutrients, macros vs micros, and the fuel factors that make macro math simple (4 calories per gram for carbs and protein, 9 for fat, 7 for alcohol). We connect that math to digestion and metabolism, including how carbs relate to glycogen and water weight, why protein has a higher thermic effect of food, and how “all calories are equal” can be both true and incomplete. The deeper point is sustainability: vegan, carnivore, keto, or mixed diets can all work if they fit the person and produce a consistent, livable calorie deficit. If you want a smarter way to think about calories, macros, and misinformation without losing your mind, listen through and share it with someone who is tired of nutrition fearmongering. Send us a text if you want to be on the Podcast & explain why!How to become a successful personal trainer vol 2 has an entire chapter on getting clients - 10 R's of getting clients. If you want to become a successful personal trainer, start by reading the book, not an 800 page textbook. You can be an amazing trainer and still struggle to get clients if your marketing is built on hope instead of systems. I'm sharing a simple referral strategy that consistently brings in high-quality leads: build real partnerships with chiropractors (and other allied pros), then make it easy and profitable for them to send people your way. It's not about begging for referrals. It's about showing up like a business professional and creating a clean, repeatable process that benefits the client, the chiropractor, and your coaching. We get tactical with what to say, how to say it, and where most trainers lose the deal. I walk through two approaches: paying for an initial chiropractic assessment to build trust fast, or starting lean with Instagram DMs and multiple follow-ups. You'll hear why directness matters, how to offer a complimentary workout without sounding passive, and how to set the precedent that your relationship is long-term and collaborative. Then we do the numbers. If you spend a few hundred dollars on an assessment and a lunch but land one 72-session package, the ROI can dwarf what you'd ever see from random ads. I also explain a smart package structure where the chiropractor keeps a premium for referring, why “go for no” follow-up wins, and how to position yourself as more than the stereotype of a trainer with selfies and weak anatomy knowledge. If you want more personal training clients, better client referrals, and a stronger network in your local fitness market, listen through and take notes. Subscribe, share this with a trainer friend who needs leads, and leave a review with the outreach step you're committing to this week.Want to become a SUCCESSFUL personal trainer? In this high-energy episode of Dealer Talk with Jen Suzuki, Jen Suzuki gets brutally honest about one of the biggest mistakes happening inside dealerships right now… slow lead response. This isn't about cheesy auto-responses, outdated templates, or "just checking in" emails that customers ignore. Jen breaks down why speed alone is not enough anymore. Dealers must combine fast response times with engaging, value-based conversations that actually pull customers in emotionally and stop them from shopping everyone else. From real dealership observations to simple but powerful examples, Jen explains why the first five minutes can determine whether your store wins or loses the deal. She challenges salespeople, BDC teams, and leaders to rethink how they approach internet leads, customer engagement, and communication strategy in today's hyper-competitive market. If your team is still responding an hour later with "Is this vehicle still something you're interested in?" this episode might sting a little. But it's the reality of modern automotive retail. This conversation is packed with practical takeaways on lead speed, customer psychology, conversation hooks, trust-building, engagement strategy, and why "professional speed" has become one of the biggest competitive advantages in the car business today.

NaSm CES vs SUF-STM: Which Certification Actually Makes You a Better Coach?

Send us a text if you want to be on the Podcast & explain why!SUF STM is the BEST corrective exercise certification because it helps personal trainers build a better team, assess clients in pain and charge more per hour. The avg suf-stm charges between 100-150/ hr whereas a NASM CES charges on avg $61. With purchase of the SUF-STM, you also get 1 year access to the Prehab Guys Exercise Library which provides more value for clients.Textbook certifications are everywhere, but the moment a client mentions shoulder pain, low back pain, or a post-ACL history, a multiple-choice test does not tell you what to do next. We talk candidly about the best specializations for personal trainers who want more skill, more income, and fewer “I hope this works” moments. The thread that ties it all together is simple: hands-on learning beats passive learning, especially when the goal is coaching performance around pain and keeping clients training safely. We compare big-name corrective exercise certifications with a mentorship-first model that emphasizes soft tissue mobilization within scope, barbell rehab basics, and a real assessment process you can repeat. We also get into what trainers actually need to level up: live feedback, video submissions, and the ability to lean on a physical therapist team when a case gets complex. Along the way, we challenge outdated cross-syndrome thinking, explain why the biopsychosocial model changes how clients experience pain, and share how better communication can improve retention during slow seasons. Finally, we make the case that anatomy mastery is the career shortcut nobody wants to do, but everyone benefits from. Knowing the actions of key muscles, understanding shoulder function, and being able to explain what you see is how you earn trust and charge $100 to $150 per session without feeling “salesy.” If you want a personal training specialization that builds real competence, this conversation is for you. Caleb shares why multiple personal training certifications across different systems can be a green flag, not just letters on a resume. We also talk about why trainer turnover is so brutal at many gyms, how that churn affects client trust, and what a development-focused culture does differently to improve client retention and trainer retention. If sales makes you cringe, you'll like the framework here.
