When the Black Crowes reunited in 2019, brothers Chris Robinson and Rich Robinson recorded their comeback album in Nashville and also kicked off their reunion tour here. They returned to Music City to record their brand-new album, A Pound of Feathers, and embedded themselves in town. In our most free-spirited episode yet, the brothers strut into the Nashville Now cabin to talk about mending fences, how their reunion inspired Oasis's comeback, and why the Crowes are touring with Texas country-rockers Whiskey Myers this summer. They also rail against AI in music and share a message to all those who said they'd never make it. It's a must-see interview from the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame nominees. On this week's episode of Artist Friendly, Joel Madden is joined by Chris Robinson of The Black Crowes. Following 2024's Happiness Bastards, the Black Crowes got straight to work. In early 2025, the Robinson brothers traveled to Nashville to reunite with producer Jay Joyce and build on the momentum of their last album. The resulting A Pound of Feathers captures a similar energy, full of swaggering rock that, as Robinson tells it, “hits harder, more jagged, but is still true to our musical essence.” Before heading out on an extensive tour, the frontman stopped by the Artist Friendly studio for a conversation about grief, rebuilding the Black Crowes, and making their newest record in under two weeks. ------- Chapters (0:00) Intro (4:03) The Southern Music Scene vs. Everywhere Else (7:40) When It Was Just About Making Records (9:21) The Craft of Live Performance (11:31) How Chris Robinson's Dad Shaped His Sound (13:00) Record Collecting & Discovering New Sounds (18:20) Music as a Language (20:06) Why So Many Artists Quit (24:59) “A Mind Blown Is a Mind Shown” (27:16) Is Chris Robinson a Poet? NASA knows that one of its massive satellites will crash to Earth, they’re just not sure exactly when or where. But don’t worry, NASA says the risk of harm is “low," but notably NOT ZERO. The space agency predicts the satellite will reenter Earth’s atmosphere at 7:45 pm ET, “plus or minus 24 hours” and says the chance of anyone being is harmed is approximately 1 in 4200… Not exactly reassuring!See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.

Since the late nineteenth century, amusement parks have been providing countless hours of enjoyment for people all around the world. Often driven by the latest technology and advances in mechanical engineering, the thrill rides at parks like Disney Land, Great America, and other independent parks offer a controlled environment to experience terror and excitement. While these rides, and the parks in general, are very safe and held to strict safety standards, there are times when the unthinkable happens—a cable snaps, a safety harness breaks—and the once safe ride becomes a nightmare for passengers. Far more often than not, tragic amusement park accidents are the result of human foolishness or, far less often, operator error. But other times, they are a bizarre fluke; a one in a million mechanical problem no one saw coming. Either way, the results can be shocking, horrifying, and even deadly.Recommendations:Jawsh on tikTok ReferencesAdler, Eric, and Katy Bergen. 2016.
