Why is there so much injustice in our world, and in our country of all places, America, “the land of the free”, “the home of the brave”? Although touted as a Christian nation, the US is plagued by enduring and deeply rooted inequitable systems that do not reflect Biblical teachings or the character of Christ. Guess why...
Most people, to some extent, believe in equity, and more importantly, that it is an indispensable trait of a civilized, just society. Problems arise, however, when there are disagreements on what equity actually is. Join us as our co-host, Deondra Jenkins, launches us into a search for truth on this very issue.

It seems like a sure-fire way to get the support and admiration of Christians these days is to talk about or express support for "Christian Values", but what's the big deal? Are Christian values all that important. Should believers flock to anyone who supports them? Listen and find out what your boy, MSW, has to say about it.
Martin Luther King, Jr. was undoubtedly the greatest civil rights advocate and organizer in our nation's history. He was also a believer. With that in mind, it could be (and should be) noted that there was a crucial flaw in his message and means of gathering people around his cause. This oversight has been perpetrated by other civil rights advocates who are also religious leaders with no major discussion. Well, we discuss it in this episode. The Civil Rights Movement was great, but as believers (like MLK was) we are supposed to be about the Gospel Movement. NEW: For the first time, MSW responds to a listener's question. Listen until the end to hear how to submit your own!
Many have a favorable view of Jesus of Nazareth but struggle to accept him as Jesus Christ, citing many serious ideological and even practical problems with Christianity as a religion. In this episode, we go through a few of those "problems" and attempt to explain that, even though they may sound rational and based in fact, their logic doesn't stand up to sound interpretation of the Scriptures.
Being Saved AND Woke means being, first and foremost, SAVED. Very simply put, being saved means you acknowledge and believe that Jesus Christ is Lord of all creation. This knowledge then guides how we as believers should go about working towards establishing His Kingdom on the earth. We here at the Saved AND Woke Podcast believe that there is liberty and justice for all in God's Kingdom. However, justice cannot be obtained in the name of justice alone. Justice itself is not the be-all and end-all of the socially conscious believer, but it is one of many by-products of a Kingdom society. Join us as we begin to discuss how we get there.
Many socially conscious believers know the confusion and inner turmoil that arises after finding out that their Christian friends and loved ones share (or are sympathetic) to many beliefs, opinions, and ideologies that have laid the foundation for the many forms of oppression endemic to Western culture. Your hosts, MSW & Dee, are no strangers to this, and they have recorded this episode with these believers in mind. After such experiences, many leave the Faith, as they come to the understandable conclusion that a group of people that do not share the same peaceful and just worldview as their own is not one they wish to remain a part of. Let this serve as validation of their mixed feelings and, more importantly, a message saying: YOU CAN KEEP THE FAITH AND STAY WOKE.
In this episode, we share how it feels to be a socially conscious believer in non-Christian spaces, particularly universities #awkward. And welcome to our awesome co-host! Connect with us on social media: Twitter & Instagram: @mr_savedandwoke @afrosoul_dee
