In part one of the first episode I talk with Dr Ian Milligan, a retired academic who dedicated his working life to the field of residential childcare. In this episode Ian looks back at what influenced him during a career that seen Ian go from being a house parent in a Glasgow Children's home during the early 1980s to a internationally recognised academic. Ian charts the history of residential childcare & secure care, the national childcare review and what the promise says about the future of secure care.
